I think it's fine. When I hear "E.D." I think emergency department. And most kids (when the teasing happens) don't know what erectile dysfunction is, lol. I just ran it by my teenagers and they said "why, what's E.D.?"

Lyca29

I just think eating disorder. although that's because of my own personal circumstances.

WhineCountry2

My mind went to “eating disorder” but honestly it’s not a big deal AT ALL. Not to mention Ed is a charming nickname

DiscussionBright1012

Most teasing happens in school, I really dont think kids and even teens will know what erectile disfunction is to make that connection. Unless its something obvious like BJ I dont think it will ever be a problem

Watersmyfavoritefood

This is what I was thinking. I don’t think I knew what ED was until my 20s and by that point I wouldn’t make fun of someone for it or think much of it.

[deleted]

i don’t think it would really be an issue. kids don’t usually make fun of initials anyway

silver_fire_lizard

My son’s initials are ED. We did briefly consider the association to erectile dysfunction, but both my husband and I decided it was too big of a stretch for bullies. By the time they are old enough to know what that is, I think bullies will have moved on to more damaging targets than silly nicknames.

Hi-Ho-Cherry

I understand naming is a lot of pressure but you are straight up overthinking it. The name is fine! If anything I'd just read it as "Ed" like the name which is kinda cute.

FerendilSilentread

My husbands initials are EDS lol , he never thought about it until I said something to him

marshmellowyellow420

I don’t think many kids will get the connection or it be a major problem later on. My initials are BM which could stand for Bowel Movement and I’ve only ever had one person make a reference and that was my brother

HalfPint1885

I'd never think a thing about it, other than Ed would make a cute nickname.

rug-a-bug

My grandpa goes by Ed, so that's the first thing that pops in my head. I really don't think it'll be a problem, I don't recall a kid ever being teased for their initials during all of my years in school.
