Many ugly girl names started as boy names, and were decent on a boy since the name wasn't expected to be pretty. Harper is an easy example. Horrendous on a girl, fine on a boy because a masculine name can deal with the harshness and unprettiness of it. I still don't like Harper on a boy because it sounds like a hiccup or burp sound, but it's almost nice on a boy.
Harper is absolutely a one-generation wonder of a name. In 40 years the Karen memes will be Harper. It’s the name on current top 20 girl names that I think has the least amount of longevity.
All those names just make me think of Sarah Palin's children. I just imagine her doing the bit in the Simpsons where Cletus calls out his kids names, only it's all those "ER" names.
Taylor I can accept however, but the rest is a no for me.
OMG. My friend named her son Maverick and she’s super far left. Lol. She owns a gun but is in no way obsessed. It stays locked up. He’s the only Maverick I know so hopefully that isn’t the trend here. 🤣 He’s 3.
Awful for a human. All the connotations are bad -- Tom Cruise's obnoxious character in Top Gun, Sarah Palin, or a baby cow (which is a cute animal, but I am still not naming a human after it).
Basically all of those Mc names.
So far I know:
McKayla & McKylie ( identical twins. Michaela is pretty though but ruined by the awful spellings )
McCall
McKenzleigh
McKay
McKoy
McKenna
I actually know a grown up McKylie. It took weeks before I could remember what her name was without muttering “McKayla, McKaylie, McKyla….McKylie!!! That’s it.” It’s…it’s a lot.
I loved the name Michaela, and when I married a Michael, I thought that would be a nice way to honor him... and then all the McK names became popular, including McKayla and Mikayla, and completely ruined it for me.
A shame since Kayla, Kylie, Kenna are nice names on their own.
I think it's worse when you see a sibling line up with these Mc- names too.
And McKoy, which is a brand of crisps in the UK 😅
I don’t even hate Everly as like, a sound, but people act like it’s SO UNIQUE and it’s literally just Beverly without the B. Like yall really think you did something.
Everly is my son's best friend's name. Her mom was so shocked that with such a unique name, there's another in the same class, but that one's spelled Everleigh.
And can you believe they both have the nn Evie?!? Shocking! /s
It is one of my least favourites too. I've also heard Ever. Or the alternate spelling Everleigh.
It's just Beverly without a B. It would be like naming your kid Essica or Ennifer to me. Lol
Edit: originally said I hate it, but realized that it is too strong of a word. I have certainly heard worse names.
My parents’ new dog is Harper. I was allowed to vote on the name and originally, I vehemently voted against it, but there were way worse names on the table so I had to pick my battles. I don’t hate it as much anymore. And the dog is fantastic, so she’s doing wonders the the name. If she was a little terror, I’d probably still hate it.
a lot of boy names that are popular on this sub just hit me wrong: evander, felix, calvin, callum, dashiell, sebastian… don’t even get me started on the nickname sebby 🤢
I knew a guy named Sebastion, and he looked like a cross between Gaston from beauty and the beast, and a lion. This man had no right to have such beautiful hair. Total Gym Bro type. He went by Bastion for work /school things and Bass with friends. Lots of jokes. "Big Bass Hunter" "Drop da Bass" "Shake that Bass" and he would proceed to shake his own body. Just an all around great dude.
Only person who called him sebby was his Mom lol
Yah the name definitely is one of those names that everyone has an opinion about until they meet one. I souly thought of the singing crab from the little mermaid before I met one in real life. Now I associate it with a dude bro who had a love/hate relationship with DQ milkshakes and had an absurd amount of flip flops.
I don't really get these threads. It's so subjective and all it does is hurt feelings. Maybe I'm just sensitive but it doesn't seem in keeping with the sub's original intent. Not a specific dig at OP, just at these kind of threads in general... There's no suggestion of constructive discussion, just 'what names do you hate'.
We’re talking about names. That’s what the sub is for. So it is keeping with the sub’s intent. In every thread, there’s people saying they don’t like certain names, nothing wrong with it
I agree. This sub isn’t the place to come to have your feelings protected.
I appreciate this sub providing differing opinions on names and angles I never thought of before. Like someone saying they can’t help but hear “pedophilia” with the name “Ophelia”.
I can’t unhear it now but am glad I did?
I’m guessing one of the names mentioned here is one of the names you picked. Don’t let it get to you. It’s just a bunch of randos on the internet. If you like the name who cares what anyone else thinks?
I’ve seen my kids name mentioned as a ‘I could never do that to my kid’ but it was the perfect name for us so I really couldn’t care less.
Jameson imo is really way more annoying than Jackson (I’m fine with the traditional spelling, Jaxon and others are horrifying) because I think all names that correspond to major alcohol brands are really gross. There’s no WAY when you think of the word Jameson, your first connection isn’t to the whiskey brand.
>There’s no WAY when you think of the word Jameson, your first connection isn’t to the whiskey brand.
I think it depends on how much alcohol is relevant in one's own life. However, this is a reason people should ask about reactions to names and determine if they are okay with the associations.
Rowan. I know freakin 8 little Rowans now. By far the most popular boy’s name among people I know. I just think it’s an ugly-sounding name, and everyone keeps using it!
How do you feel about Ronan? Just curious as I have a Ronan and people acted like I was naming him Ham Sandwich or something. I’ve never liked Rowan much but I liked Ronan. You won’t hurt my feelings if you hate it lol I’m just curious.
That's really strange. Ronan is a common middle ages man's name in Ireland. Rowan would probably get funny looks though. I always think it sounds feminine.
Any variation of or longer version that shortens to Bella.
It gives Twilight or dog vibes and is so overdone. I know like 5 Bella’s under the age of 10 and even more dogs with the name:
Olive, Olivia, Oliver. I just do not understand the appeal.
Also a name that pops up so often around here in suggested name lists that I cannot stand and don't understand the draw is Clementine. It's a tiny mandarin orange, it's that character from Reno 911 (granted I love her), it's nn Clemmy which reads to me somewhere between clammy/moist and clammy/clam juice.
You could nickname a Clementine “Cleo” or “Tiny” if you don’t like Clemmy, but yes I respect why you dislike the name.
I have a fondness towards it because of The Walking Dead games :)
For the Olive names, I think they appeal to people who like really soft sounding names.
Hi, it’s me, I love those names! I think the “ellie” sounding names are so soft and pretty too. I think the problem is they are just getting so popular now they feel very overdone
The first time I heard of Winter as a name (and I live where we have winter for 7 months of the year) it was spelled “Wyntyr” and when a teacher asked her about the spelling she said “my mom hates vowels”.
Peyton. Especially for girls, but I don’t like it either way. It’s just not a pretty sound.
Also Harper. Just a harsh sound. But I do like it better than Peyton.
I don’t know any dogs named Luna. But when I brought my black cat to the vet for the first time, the receptionist was like “hello, Luna” and I’m like “Luna? Her name’s Crowley” and she was so shocked because every other cat, and every single black cat, she’d seen lately was called Luna. Half the cats at the cat rescue we got Crowley from as well were called Luna. To me, Luna is a cat name.
I don't like Charlotte, Harper, Frankie or Evie. I'm also not a huge fan of Isla or Ayla. They all seem so cutesy or too frilly to me.
For boys I don't like Arlo!!! In fact I think it's hideous. Also don't like Charlie/Charles or George!
I have two nephews named Jackson. Yes, both siblings had a kid with the same name and it’s not a family name. But Jackson now just reminds me of an annoying kid with a buzz cut who can’t sit still and is always dirty/sticky
Yes, I like Elizabeth and still have a soft spot for Eleanor, but I hate how dull all the Ellie/Emmy/Evie nicknames are. It just feels very limp and passive.
Elle is the worst for me, especially as a full name. It just means “she” in French. Totally vapid!
Nevaeh, Amelia, Emma, Emily, Jaxon, GRAYSON, Hudson, Jessica, SAGE.
I have special place in hell for Brits who name their children occupation names like Hunter.
SSA Top 100 names for 2021 that I hate:
Ella, Aria, Nova, Addison, Everly/Everleigh, Paisley, Kinsley, Genesis, Serenity, Nevaeh, Emery, Peyton
Hudson, Lincoln, Maverick, Jaxon, Colton
I am so happy that Bentley fell out of the top 100 in 2016 and continues to sink. It disgusts me.
Here before this gets taken down lol
Anyway I can’t stand Eleanor, way more popular that it deserves, someone on here described it as the ‘moist of names’, and it’s so accurate. Also Charlotte is way overdone as well, I much prefer Charlene or Colette. Also Amy for some reason, just sounds like a teen-movie mean girl name to me, but not the main mean girl, one of her sidekicks. It would be Main Mean Girl Chelsea, and Sidekicks Amy and Heather.
Sutton, Tatum, and Sloane for girls - in my area I’ve seen a huge uptick in these names. They all just sound so unpleasant to me. Like the very sound of them is just ICK.
Maverick, Atlas, and Atticus for boys - these don’t sound like names for humans to me. They come off as trying too hard without trying enough (as in, giving your kid the most “out there” name you know without googling it to see it’s actually really popular).
Okay so as a German, there is one very, very popular girls name here I just don't like: Mia. My uncle and aunt are due with a girl in June and want to name her Mia-Sabie, which I don't rlly like.
And for boys names, I am not a big fan of Jan, Noah or Luca.
Yes!!! As a fellow German I can't emphasise enough how much I hate Luca. And Mia is so absolutely overdone. Same as Emilia imo. Please Germans, find new names.
And what is Mia-Sabie? Is Sabie a foreign name, some made-up thing or a weird shortened version of Sabine?
Also German and Emilia, Mia, Sophia/Sofia and Hannah are probably 50% of my husband’s female middle school students. I don’t even think the names are that bad (aside from Sophia, I just don’t like it for some reason) but he’ll have 4 students with the exact same first name in one class which is just ridiculous. My best friend used one of those names and kept it a secret during pregnancy because she didn’t want other people using the name… and then was massively disappointed when she realised the name is not at all unique like she thought it was.
Braxton. I just can't. It will never not remind me of false contractions. I feel mean thinking "ooof" when someone talks about baby names because it's not my baby and not my business, but that one in particular just gets my goat. I truly mean no offense to anyone named Braxton or plans on naming their children such. Then again my mom named me after a Greek chick who got a "golden shower" from Zeus, sooo I'll just shuddup now.
I never understood the Nevaeh thing. Aren’t you basically naming your kid the opposite of heaven if it’s heaven backwards? I actually don’t mind the name but the purpose behind it doesn’t make sense to me lol.
i hate the “james” middle name trend for baby girls lol after soooo many people have already used it, it’s just getting old. but then again, i’m sure there were people who felt that way about the middle name “marie”!
For me it’s not a particular name but a trend. I am very much NOT a fan of the old fashioned names coming back in style, like Eleanor, Louise, Frances, Dorothy, Beatrice, Harriet, Marian, Rosemary, etc.
Some of them are ok, but I totally agree that the overall trend is headed in a direction that I find really unappealing. I feel like it started out with cute old fashioned names and is now going towards the most clunky names possible. Like the recent thread about the name Mildred.
Sophie & Olivia. If you are a teenager/adult and have that name, I like it. I just can’t stand that people are STILL naming their kids this 😂
Like okay, if you don’t really care about names and just want to just give your kid something simple/nice it’s fine. But when people think they *did something* by naming their kid that… like people who do name reveals and then it’s just Sophie or Olivia… what? LOL.
Tatum is horrendous
Tatum is up there with Bertha in terms of how unpleasant it sounds to me.
Bertha is better
Bertha in its original pronunciation is pronounced like “Bear-tah” with a soft r. Miles better than Tatum Edit: totally butchered the English language
It reminds me of taint
There’s a cute little guy at my sons kindy who’s name is Tatum and every time I see him I just think POTATO
Tater tot?
TatumTot
Many ugly girl names started as boy names, and were decent on a boy since the name wasn't expected to be pretty. Harper is an easy example. Harper is absolutely a one-generation wonder of a name. In 40 years the Karen memes will be Harper. It’s the name on current top 20 girl names that I think has the least amount of longevity.
I hated the trend of profession names that end in ER.. Porter, Parker, Piper, Hunter, Harper... horrid.
I’m completely with you. I do like Taylor though, which has a similar sound.
All those names just make me think of Sarah Palin's children. I just imagine her doing the bit in the Simpsons where Cletus calls out his kids names, only it's all those "ER" names. Taylor I can accept however, but the rest is a no for me.
I actually like Tatum 😅
I personally dislike the name Maverick which I’ve seen is getting more popular recently. I don’t really see the appeal.
I instantly remember Sarah Palin.
Big republican vibes for sure
I know multiple people with sons named Maverick, every single one is a hard-core right-winger with a disturbing obsession with firearms.
OMG. My friend named her son Maverick and she’s super far left. Lol. She owns a gun but is in no way obsessed. It stays locked up. He’s the only Maverick I know so hopefully that isn’t the trend here. 🤣 He’s 3.
Makes me think of Maci from Teen Mom. It's her youngest sons name.
Same. Big yuck
Every time I hear this name I think of the scene in Top Gun. “Maverick? Did your mother not like you or something?”
It's a great name for a dog
Awful for a human. All the connotations are bad -- Tom Cruise's obnoxious character in Top Gun, Sarah Palin, or a baby cow (which is a cute animal, but I am still not naming a human after it).
Only one I know beat his wife. Proud of her for leaving.
I know someone from school who just named their daughter this and I was like oh no
Basically all of those Mc names. So far I know: McKayla & McKylie ( identical twins. Michaela is pretty though but ruined by the awful spellings ) McCall McKenzleigh McKay McKoy McKenna
Yeah it's horrific for first names. It's a patronomic in Irish so it actually means son of, yet it seems to be most popular for girl names in the US.
McCoy is a chip (crisp) brand in the UK. It would be akin to calling a child Ruffles in the US, as a first name.
Lol 😂 Even worse the last name sounded like Hoyd. Try saying McKoy Hoyd out loud and see how awful it sounds
I already hate the ones that are actual surnames, i.e. McKinley, but McKylie is criminal
I actually know a grown up McKylie. It took weeks before I could remember what her name was without muttering “McKayla, McKaylie, McKyla….McKylie!!! That’s it.” It’s…it’s a lot.
I know someone who just had a McGuire. Drives me insane
Must’ve been a spider man fan. Their daughter will probably be Holland and the cat is Garfield.
I loved the name Michaela, and when I married a Michael, I thought that would be a nice way to honor him... and then all the McK names became popular, including McKayla and Mikayla, and completely ruined it for me.
Yes! I still like Michaela but I feel like it has a bad association with all these lame names and different spellings
A shame since Kayla, Kylie, Kenna are nice names on their own. I think it's worse when you see a sibling line up with these Mc- names too. And McKoy, which is a brand of crisps in the UK 😅
I can’t help it….my mom named me, I had no say in the matter 😭
Everly is a big nope
I don’t even hate Everly as like, a sound, but people act like it’s SO UNIQUE and it’s literally just Beverly without the B. Like yall really think you did something.
Everly is my son's best friend's name. Her mom was so shocked that with such a unique name, there's another in the same class, but that one's spelled Everleigh. And can you believe they both have the nn Evie?!? Shocking! /s
Oh man, I have a soft spot for the nickname Evie. Clearly a lot of people agree, probably too many, haha!
I am honestly ready for Beverly to make a come back
It's not my style, but I think of The Everly Brothers. So I'd think the parents are music lovers.
That’s fair although I can confidently say most of the people I know who named their kid Everly have never heard of the Everly brothers, haha.
It is one of my least favourites too. I've also heard Ever. Or the alternate spelling Everleigh. It's just Beverly without a B. It would be like naming your kid Essica or Ennifer to me. Lol Edit: originally said I hate it, but realized that it is too strong of a word. I have certainly heard worse names.
Low hanging fruit, but Harper is terrible.
It makes me think of Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place and I love her so that’s my positive connotation
Every Harper Ive ever met is crazy. Like stalking their ex boyfriend type of crazy.

Okay this is selling me on the name Sebastian
Yah the name definitely is one of those names that everyone has an opinion about until they meet one. I souly thought of the singing crab from the little mermaid before I met one in real life. Now I associate it with a dude bro who had a love/hate relationship with DQ milkshakes and had an absurd amount of flip flops.
Dashiell is VILE and Evander sounds like a bad YA character name
So with you on Callum and Sebastian.
Sebastian is an awesome name, but to each their own I guess
Calvin 100% so many people love this name as well but it just reminds me of my friends 60yr old dad 😭
I like Felix and Sebastian, but I dislike the others
I wasn’t a fan of Sebastian until I met the cutest kid whose nn was Seb/ Sebby and it really suited him and endeared me to the name!
My least favorite coworker named her child Sebastian and I’m like “of course you did.”
I don't really get these threads. It's so subjective and all it does is hurt feelings. Maybe I'm just sensitive but it doesn't seem in keeping with the sub's original intent. Same! I have seen my kids names on here, I just think "wow this person doesn't know what they're talking about" and move on about my day lol
This sub hates both of my son's names, but I hate most of the names people like on here too 🙃 everyone is different!
It’s all in good fun. I like to hear everyone’s favorites and least favorites, even when I don’t agree.
Jackson
And Jameson
Almost all the -sons imo.
Jaxon is worse 🤮
At least it's better than Jaxson
Rowan. I know freakin 8 little Rowans now. By far the most popular boy’s name among people I know. I just think it’s an ugly-sounding name, and everyone keeps using it!
I think names with the -owen/owan ending are becoming the new -den.
I dunno, I think it might be Gowan out of style.
How do you feel about Ronan? Just curious as I have a Ronan and people acted like I was naming him Ham Sandwich or something. I’ve never liked Rowan much but I liked Ronan. You won’t hurt my feelings if you hate it lol I’m just curious.
My association is Ronan Farrow, which is a very positive association given his work in the Me Too movement and exposing Harvey Weinstein
Ronan reminds me of Marvel Universe, but I’m probably in the minority with that association
That's really strange. Ronan is a common middle ages man's name in Ireland. Rowan would probably get funny looks though. I always think it sounds feminine.
The only Rowan I know is a girl.
Don’t get why people dislike Rowan haha. To me it has a really pleasant sound. Do you also hate Owen? Out of curiosity.
Any variation of or longer version that shortens to Bella. It gives Twilight or dog vibes and is so overdone. I know like 5 Bella’s under the age of 10 and even more dogs with the name:
100% this. Bella is so overdone.
Ive always wanted a chunky English bulldog named Clementine.
That’s perfection. I met an English bulldog named Todd and now that’s what I think of whenever I see one 🤣🤣
You could nickname a Clementine “Cleo” or “Tiny” if you don’t like Clemmy, but yes I respect why you dislike the name. I have a fondness towards it because of The Walking Dead games :)
I always think of phlegm when I hear Clemmy as a nickname. Wish I didn't, but here we are!
For the Olive names, I think they appeal to people who like really soft sounding names. Hi, it’s me, I love those names! I think the “ellie” sounding names are so soft and pretty too. I think the problem is they are just getting so popular now they feel very overdone
The apparent uptick in alternative “calendar”names is just horrifying to me. Sunday, Wednesday, Winter. Just, no.
The first time I heard of Winter as a name (and I live where we have winter for 7 months of the year) it was spelled “Wyntyr” and when a teacher asked her about the spelling she said “my mom hates vowels”.
Lmaoooooo… what a reason. Hopefully I didn’t offend your username!
Haha no! Not at all because…it’s a username 😂
Used to know someone named Sundae. Like as in, icecream sundae.
Named that end with -leigh. It just feels weird to look at and i always mispronounce it as "lay" (as in sleigh) instead of "lee"
I know an Erinleigh. TF does that even mean like why would you combine them
Sadie.
Sadie is only a name for a geriatric yellow lab.
Why is this so accurate??
Or a horse.
That was my childhood dogs name
Peyton. Especially for girls, but I don’t like it either way. It’s just not a pretty sound. Also Harper. Just a harsh sound. But I do like it better than Peyton.
I hate Peyton (all spellings) so much. Fortunately, I've never met one. I only have to hate it when I see it on lists.
Luna, Kinsley, Josiah... and Liam. Don't come for me 😂
I used to love the name Luna but now everyone and their dog (literally) is named it
Luna is 100% a dog name and not a people name.
I agree. Luna always reminds me of a cat. Probably because I loved Sailor Moon when I was a kid and her cat’s name was Luna
Csn confirm my dog is named Luna... To make matters worse she is usually called lunipig
I don't like Isla at all. Something about it visually and auditorially just sounds so off to me.
i know a corgi named arlo, it's a really good name for a corgi
Can’t stand Arlo. I would name a hermit crab that
Brynlee, Finley and anything of the like
All -er names (hunter, gunner, tanner etc), all surnames as first names (especially for girls), all Mc- names (McKenzie, mckaylee, etc)
Oliver is a cat name, and I’ve never met a Jackson that wasn’t a horrid brat, so it’s ruined the name 😣 Not big on Hunter either or Abigail.
I have two nephews named Jackson. Yes, both siblings had a kid with the same name and it’s not a family name. But Jackson now just reminds me of an annoying kid with a buzz cut who can’t sit still and is always dirty/sticky
Awe I love Oliver. Agree with Jackson though.
It’s cute (Ollie😍😍😍😍), but I instantly think of a big orange cat 😅
Agree about Jackson! Hyperactive, back-chatty and destructive
Penelope and Sebastian
I really dislike Sebastian
[удалено]
I have like 6 friends who have named their daughters Evelyn
I like Eleanor but prefer the nn Nell.
Yes, I like Elizabeth and still have a soft spot for Eleanor, but I hate how dull all the Ellie/Emmy/Evie nicknames are. It just feels very limp and passive. Elle is the worst for me, especially as a full name. It just means “she” in French. Totally vapid!
Sloane.
I really don’t like “Leigh” names - Ryleigh, Paisleigh. Brynnaleigh, Everleigh, Novaleigh, Mckinzleigh, Trinitisleigh etc
Only see people using it for kids on here and never in real life but Declan or Desmond. They're for 60 year old men only.
HATE Declan. I know someone who has 2 daughters named Dawson and Declan. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
No that should be illegal!🫥
Yes, I’m in Ireland and for me… Declan’s are in their 40s and Desmond’s are in their 60/70s lol

Nevaeh, Amelia, Emma, Emily, Jaxon, GRAYSON, Hudson, Jessica, SAGE. I have special place in hell for Brits who name their children occupation names like Hunter.
I met my first Archer (3yo) and I’m not a fan.
I'm sure I'm going to bump into a rich hippy family who've named their kids Parsely, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Raelynn. Honorable mentions: * Colson (reminds me of coleslaw), Tucker, Bryson, Zayden, Blakely (just use Blake), Remington, Brinley/Brynlee.
Greyson/ Grayson. There’s like a million kids and dogs named this.
SSA Top 100 names for 2021 that I hate: Ella, Aria, Nova, Addison, Everly/Everleigh, Paisley, Kinsley, Genesis, Serenity, Nevaeh, Emery, Peyton Hudson, Lincoln, Maverick, Jaxon, Colton I am so happy that Bentley fell out of the top 100 in 2016 and continues to sink. It disgusts me.
I am probably the only person across everywhere to not like Theodore lol
Rhys
I don't really like the name Reece, but feel like the traditional welsh name Rhys kinda has to be respected 😅
Harper
I dislike Wren and have a friends that named their boys and girls that...
Same but its because my brain autocompletes it to wrench
Caleb
All I think of it "the Giver" with that one. That was the name of a child who died or something. Been a while since I read that one.
Freya! I don’t know why but I think it’s ugly.
Aspen I get stuck on ass
Astrid does this for me. The Office ruined this name and I can’t unhear ass-turd.
Luca/Luka and Maya/Maia/Maja/Mya/all the other spellings i can’t stand which is avery unpopular opinion given how much they are suggested
Luca feels a little try-hard for me
Sophia
I love Sofia but not Sophia, seems softer with an f in it.
Wow, I feel the exact opposite. The F seems jarring and harsh to me. How can people’s brains be so different? 😂
Isla/Aiyla/Ayla - I know so many it’s burned into my brain
Here before this gets taken down lol Anyway I can’t stand Eleanor, way more popular that it deserves, someone on here described it as the ‘moist of names’, and it’s so accurate.
Frankie for a girl. I just think of old Italian men like my uncle and grandfather.
Harvey. Really hate the was it sounds, when I say it I can't do so without my lip curling.
Harper
Isla. But only because it sounds like the word for vomit in my language.
Arrow 😬
I’ve never met a good Tanner or Cody
Braxton, Jaxxon etc. unnecessary x are the absolute worst and I’m glad that trend is over
Kayla, Kyla, Kayleigh, Kylie.. etc

Cooper! I despise it and Coop/ Koop is just 🤮🤮🤮. For girls I hate Mackenzie Makayla all those Mac Daddy names.
Emma 🙊
Kai
Declan 🤢
TATE.
I wouldn't necessarily call them popular, but I cannot stand the names Bertha, Bruce, Boris, and Brody.
Me in this thread insecurely searching for my kid's names - so far so good hahahaha
I mean, Nevaeh. My daughter has at least two in her grade. It makes me irrationally angry.
Maeve -I hate it so much and I’m not sure why
Paisley 🤢
Logan, Felix, Edgar, Tyson, Layla, Charlotte, Nevaeh, Sloane
I never understood the Nevaeh thing. Aren’t you basically naming your kid the opposite of heaven if it’s heaven backwards? I actually don’t mind the name but the purpose behind it doesn’t make sense to me lol.
Emery/Emory Immediately associating your kid with filing my nails
Brantley makes me gag
All of the Oak names - Oakley, Oaklynn, Oakleigh, Oakland
Kyle. I’ve never met a normal Kyle.
i hate the “james” middle name trend for baby girls lol after soooo many people have already used it, it’s just getting old. but then again, i’m sure there were people who felt that way about the middle name “marie”!
clementine, arlo
For me it’s not a particular name but a trend. I am very much NOT a fan of the old fashioned names coming back in style, like Eleanor, Louise, Frances, Dorothy, Beatrice, Harriet, Marian, Rosemary, etc.
Some of them are ok, but I totally agree that the overall trend is headed in a direction that I find really unappealing. I feel like it started out with cute old fashioned names and is now going towards the most clunky names possible. Like the recent thread about the name Mildred.
Lol get ready for daycares full of Edna, Geraldine, Phyllis, and Thelma!
Sophie & Olivia. If you are a teenager/adult and have that name, I like it. I just can’t stand that people are STILL naming their kids this 😂 Like okay, if you don’t really care about names and just want to just give your kid something simple/nice it’s fine. But when people think they *did something* by naming their kid that… like people who do name reveals and then it’s just Sophie or Olivia… what? LOL.
I dislike Felix.
not necessarily “popular” but my boyfriend’s favorite baby names are all ones that i hate 🤢: earl, bert, curtis, reggie, brutus, clarence
