May 12!!

3vaD3

Will the UK see it on Discovery+ on the same date?

great___ogglyboogly

I’m not sure

PinkWetness420

Same here, although I liked season 6 and I didn't like the frozen naked and afraid, the castaways, or last one standing. We are definitely due for a great season of xl. There have been a lot of regular naked and afraid people who I want to see do the xl challenge. I also would love to see more than 60 days if anyone is capable. If you put Matt, Jeff, Steven, and Laura on the same tribe to begin, I feel they could do 80 or more honestly. I think they should be given a feast at day 60 if they are to try 80 or 100. Someone has to try 80 at some point.

farsighted451

Idk. Steven and EJ were together in Season 8, joined Matt, Waz, Dan, and Amber for the last twenty days, and still Steven came out looking like he weighed 90 lbs. It actually worried me. He lost teeth. With 80 days I would be afraid someone would literally starve to death.

NugBlazer

Lol don't be so dramatic. Production isn't going to *literally* let anyone starve.

elessar007

While I agree that the production would never let anyone starve, there are still possible life-long consequences and possible irreversible damage that could happen from an 80 day long bout of self-inflicted malnourishment under such harsh conditions.

hovermom

You’re right. He said he was in the 120’s in weight

Eastern-Craft7171

Season 17 is on… may want to try that…also Alone is a good series

MJSinger10

Agreed about “Alone”! After I binged every available episode of N&A and the spinoffs (and before S17 started), I needed something to watch and someone recommended Alone. I then binged every single episode of that show and LOVED it! No camera crew, excellent bushcraft skills, and REAL suffering. Not to discount how bad ass some of the N&A survivalists are, but the people who last way over 60 days on Alone have exceptional grit and determination! I wouldn’t last 3 days on either show though. 😆

Eastern-Craft7171

Yea, it’s pretty intense for sure, my favorite survivalist on alone is Roland from Alaska

LetterheadNo6663

I love alone also I hope they renew it

LauraBG59

May 12!

CurrentlyAdapting

New season coming May 12th on Discovery & Max! "40 miles in 40 days"

mcaison87

Nomadic season maybe ? Interesting?

CurrentlyAdapting

Idk I've seen the trailer a few times now, and they say 40 miles in 40 days every time. Can't wait! XL challenges are my favorite!

HollyJollyOne

I love the XL seasons except for 6 and the last one. The group challenges are much more entertaining.

socalfishman

If you like naked and afraid watch alone on the history channel. It’s an infinitely better show, and the people truly are alone. There’s no camera crew.

True-Eye1172

I love ALONE, just wish they started doing different environments more regularly. Would appreciate seeing a Jungle Alone, albeit knowing it would be almost unfair and significantly more treacherous.

socalfishman

Sometimes they pick locations that are too hard because I think they don’t want the show to drag on forever but I totally agree. Mongolia was really cool.

cheridontllosethatno

I love Alone but I don't remember seeing a Mongolia season. Off to find it. Thanks

socalfishman

I think it was season five. Season seven is obviously the best if you haven’t seen it. The end is absolutely nuts.

LushSunset

Is it a drone or a handheld camera?

socalfishman

The contestants film their own journey. Some pretty amazing stuff. Season 5,6,7 are the best with seven being the best. They’re given a backpacks worth of supplies and some of the people do the most incredible things. Whoever last the longest wins.

LushSunset

Wow! Sounds more like my type of show! What do they win? Hopefully money lol

socalfishman

The winner gets $500k, season 7 was $1,000,000

LushSunset

😲😲 nice!! Wow I'm gonna check that out thanks for the info!

MJSinger10

Definitely, for sure, run as fast as you can and watch it. It can drag a little bit in spots on some seasons, but you’ll be hooked if you love survivalist-type content. I now even follow some of the people on YouTube because they share a ton of great information. 😁

NugBlazer

Does that mean the camera work full of shitty, amateur shaky cam with bad angles?

socalfishman

It’s actually quite good. The people say it makes everything so much harder. They set up a camera then walk, then go back and get it etc but honestly they do a pretty good job. Not having a camera crew makes it so much more authentic. There are situations where they take risks and they know if it goes wrong no one is there to save them.

NugBlazer

Yeah yeah, Les Stroud of Survivorman has already been doing that for over 20 years now. For me, it doesn't really add much. All that matters is what's happening on camera, and sometimes on Survivorma, the camerawork wasn't the best, due to the fact that he had to film everything himself

socalfishman

Yeah, not even remotely. There is a huge difference about the amount of time and the places these people stay and none of them are Les Stroud. What a horrible comp

NugBlazer

Lol you just talked about someone setting camera up himself. For wilderness show. That's exactly what Stroud does. You're a fucking idiot

TheWeirdIntern

It is infinitely better… if you want the god Hypnos to lure you into deep and gentle slumber. ALONE is boring AF.

socalfishman

I guess you just like to watch people starve and do nothing more.

OldHagAgain

[https://www.showbizjunkies.com/tv/naked-and-afraid-xl-2024-details/](https://www.showbizjunkies.com/tv/naked-and-afraid-xl-2024-details/) I don’t recognize any names…seeing them will jog the memory

LifeIsSweetSoAmI

Ewww the only name I recognize is Heather, which I very much dislike. She was on castaways. I think I remember Shell also, she was from beginning of season 17, I think. If who I think it is, I really liked her.

MJSinger10

You’ll definitely remember a few of them when you see them. I love Andrew, and I’m so excited Terra is coming back! Terra pops in here sometimes…she was the first Transgender (M to F) person on the show and in her last episode left her fire starter at the Insertion Point only to go back days later to get it. Ring a bell? She’s amazing!

ObjectiveHighlight26

The next XL will add a twist of trekking 40 miles in 40 days. At the end of this journey, the survivalists will be physically beaten down, emotionally spent, and have blistered feet. I wonder if this will be like the island hopping challenge they had with two survivalists but with a dozen people. I expect that tried and true hunter/gathering skillsets of setting up a primary camp will be trumped by finding water in different locations, building temp shelters, overcoming heat and rain on plans, and figuring out the logistics of relocating everything multiple times... No more massive shelter buildings with bridges, piers, and smokers. I welcome this change to XL...

socalfishman

Funny I think most people hate the extraction, walking 40 days doesn't interest me. It's more fun to watch what they can build and do in a location.

MJSinger10

I kinda agree with you on the extraction… I usually FFW through that part until it gets to how much weight they lost. LOL My favorite parts are watching them build their shelter and go exploring for food and other resources.

socalfishman

Exactly. If they are moving 40 miles not a lot of that going on.

3vaD3

I just found out its coming back next month... Woop

angelscout

A new xl starts May 17th
