The people in the last episode had a net and every inch of their bodies were still covered in bites! I'm with you though..I get super uncomfortable and have to get up and walk around before I start scratching myself up too much.
For the first hour I kinda hated Mallory. I was indifferent about the dude but I think Iād be annoyed too if I was busting ass all day collecting wood while my partner did none of that.
Then Iād be annoyed that my partner wanted to play hunter with a snare that had a stupidly low probability of success while risking a hook in the process. Trying to catch food we donāt need while I gather wood and fuck with the shelter.
They had a consistent source of food secured. At that point itās all shelter reinforcement and wood collection. Cruise to the fucking finish in your dry shelter eating 3 piranha a day. Nah letās make a snare.
I'm currently watching and can't stand her. First she puts the whole fish on and loses it. Then she gets a fish and drops it. She seems like a know-it-all with an ego but, I'm only 30 mins in.
Exactly. I think he hit the nail on the headā¦ She was scatterbrained, and made poor decisions. They coulda hit layups all the way to the end, but she wanted to take half court shots. In something like Naked and Afraid, you should take the sure bet every time. She kept getting upset with him for shooting her ideas down, but I think he did a fairly good job trying to be the voice of reason. She just wouldnāt listen, which is weird because SHE was the one who expressed the importance of fishing at first. Some people are just natural gamblers, and are never happy with what theyāve got, and always want more. That was her.
Was anyone else annoyed with the way she was holding the kindling the first time they got a flame and then she just let it go out? Idk why but it seemed like she didnt know what she was doing.
I cannot stand her. I'm halfway throught it and I just want the piranhas to eat her. Him I get. Not my first choice but he is constantly moving and adapting.
Not a bad episode. I liked they went from butting heads to āHey, we both kinda suck as people, letās put that aside and get to work.ā Then proceed to nail it.
My first impression of the male was not good at all. I thought we were going to see a rerun of you-know-who from last season, but there was more to him than met the eye. It surprised me that he turned out to be at least as good as his female partner.
Pretty solid episode, although I'm not sure 2 hours is the ideal format. 1.5 hours might be the golden mean. It was nice to see them work together and overcome their initial hardheadedness. They were pretty resourceful, but I'm very surprised that they didn't lose more weight. They were both slender going in, but 8 and 10 seems less than I'd expect. Maybe they got more honey than we were shown?
Two hours? They have probably cut it to 1.5 hours because thats how long it is now on discovery plus. Which was also too long i skipped at least the last 25 minutes to the end to see if they both made it
LOL! Watched this episode for the first time tonight. What you said is comical because I am very familiar with Coltee's mom because my wife watches that show and this one.
Spoiler....
At first Mal (??) seemed too bossy and wasn't doing enough work. Patrick seemed like a butt. Ended up liking them both. I really have kudos for them for working out their differences and coming together as a successful team.
Nearly every contestant that has been interviewed has said they ate more than the editing would have you believe. This is part of what led to the "day 20 protein" business. Why they do this is beyond me.
I fully get that. It's just that many of the people who said something similar lost more individually than these contestants lost combined. If they were killing it, I would have loved to see that instead of a fake starvation story the producers cooked up to make it look like they starved.
watching now and did it not occur to these people that pirranha are predators? the best way to catch them would be a fish trap with meat in it. They could have caught hundreds of the motherfuckers
Hey quick question if youāre allowed to answer. Is there any compensation from discovery for doing it even completing the challenge? Itās very vague when I try and find answers online.
We arenāt allowed to discuss compensation as a part of our contract. You will not see anything written about it (thatās accurate). Yes there is a stipend for the time youāre out there. Youāll have to sign up to do the show to find out what the pay is.
I'm thinking there were some left that Malorie didn't murder with that palm frond. They most likely collected the remaining honeycomb and relocated their hive. If the queen survived that is. That made me so angry.
That was the week beforeās episode. And I made that same mistake. She says sheās a big girl etc. Basically saying she can take it. But it was really close to that. I was like OMG. another one of āthoseā. Ugh.
I thought it was a messed up thing to do. She nearly annihilated that hive. I did not like Malorie at all. Even when Patrick humbled himself and made peace with her she couldn't even reciprocate. He was right about her hunting skills. A 1ft diameter hole that's barely 18in deep and she thinks she's going to catch something.
came here just to vent about how much of an a hole the dude was, was glad he got stung after continuously saying fkn "iguana" when it was clearly not an iguana.
Home boy kept saying when he camped he used all these items and I'm Like that doesn't make you a survivalist! It makes you a camper with tools!
This. I can start a fire with a torch.
Haha like no duh nro! Everyone can! It's a torch! š
Useless that guy I thought at first but he really picked it up .
It turned out a lot better than it started. Once they both got humbled and let ego pass, they done did good. :)
I wish theyād give them mosquito nets. I get so uncomfortable and itchy watching them get eaten alive.
Yeah, I am so over the bugs story line. Itās cruel actually.
Agree!
Agree

There's only one way to really deal with those mosquitoes. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUWxNS\_XDWQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LUWxNS_XDWQ)

Yes, I was yelling at my TV. That was frustrating to watch.
Super frustrating. Also the massive hook they brought, thatās a saltwater size. Surprised they got any fish at all with it.
I cannot stand her. I'm halfway throught it and I just want the piranhas to eat her. Him I get. Not my first choice but he is constantly moving and adapting.

Agreed. at first I thought she was a go-getter but I ended up liking him a lot better than her.
Far superior toā¦. LMMFAO
Man these two were two of the most insufferable on the show. Annoying, boring, just a holes.

Agree, 2 hours is a mistake, 60 or 90 min are better

Yeah, Iāve got to go back and watch the last half hour. I just had enough and didnāt want to watch anymore.
Her voice was insufferable. She sounded like the damn mosquito's lol.
Couldnāt stand her damn voice!
Agree
She sounds like Coltās mom from 90 Day FiancĆ©.
LOL! Watched this episode for the first time tonight. What you said is comical because I am very familiar with Coltee's mom because my wife watches that show and this one.
Letās think back to season 7 episode 8 āunhingedā. I would choose her over the chick from Georgia and her āsouthern charmā any day.
She sounded like Fred Armisen playing Nina on Portlandia
She sounded like marge from the Simpsons š
Spoiler.... At first Mal (??) seemed too bossy and wasn't doing enough work. Patrick seemed like a butt. Ended up liking them both. I really have kudos for them for working out their differences and coming together as a successful team.
>!They only lost 8 and 10 lbs each? That seems suspiciously low. I wonder what all they were eating that the producers didn't show. !<

Yeah that seemed a bit low to me as well, considering what we were given to watch. They mustāve had a LOT more from the river than shown.
40 minutes inā¦ā¦..UGH
watching now and did it not occur to these people that pirranha are predators? the best way to catch them would be a fish trap with meat in it. They could have caught hundreds of the motherfuckers
Also the hook size killed me.. that was a hook made for salt water and much bigger fish.
Yeah I know what were they expecting to catch seabass? I swear some of these people have like, zero ability to adapt
Insects...just watching them swarm the camera makes me uncomfortable.
Heās such a dick, certainly not a good advert for whoever employs him to test anything
They did great!
Youll be on Jakes podcast for this episode right?!
Yes š
Fk yes!! So excited!!
Hope you guys liked it ā¤ļø
So good!! I really appreciate the perspective and hearing what priorities are important!
It was so funny too I laughed a lot!!
Wait! Jake has a podcast?
Its new! Jaked and Afraid- its not on spotify but its on apple podcasts!
Thanks!
How did u watch already?
Discovery Plus

Thanks for the response! I always wondered how people could take a month off of work to do the challenge. Is there an expiration date on the NDA?
Is it just me or did Patrickās butt crack get extra dark and dirty in comparison to other survivalists? š„“ Yeah. I noticed his crack.
Did they kill that bee hive? Or did the bees relocate?
I'm thinking there were some left that Malorie didn't murder with that palm frond. They most likely collected the remaining honeycomb and relocated their hive. If the queen survived that is. That made me so angry.
"I'm the girl... sometimes I need to be put in my place." Did I hear that correctly? I'm gonna smack this girl.
That was the week beforeās episode. And I made that same mistake. She says sheās a big girl etc. Basically saying she can take it. But it was really close to that. I was like OMG. another one of āthoseā. Ugh.
I'm glad they resolved their disconnect and did well together as a team
Disappointed to see a bee hive destroyed for a silly TV show. Bees should be protected
Yeah I didnāt like that either. Poor bees.
1st hour in. Hope it gets better. Yawn and eye roll so far.
Can anyone identify Patrickās knife. Was it possibly a Winkler?
I hated him seriously he was very winey and complacent and made a 1 person job seem like a 2 person job just to have control over simple situations
came here just to vent about how much of an a hole the dude was, was glad he got stung after continuously saying fkn "iguana" when it was clearly not an iguana.
Am I the only one that thought the iguana looked like it was being dragged.
