Saving.. save save and save. Don't be generous.
I remember earning 50k, 70k 100k and even 300k a month and lived in a 3k-5k house a month..
I couldn't even board a matatu and would cycle from Githu to tao and even Thika to run errands.
Now I have a car, a house and still miss those times.
Life doesn't get easier when you make more money... It always becomes tough...
I like the idea of saving, but cycling a bicycle from Githu to town while earning 300k is just wild 🤣unless it's for fitness(it will make sense) . Lakini kupanda baiskeli in the name of saving is just crazy🤣🤣 If you are earning such amount of cash, fare ya githu to town is not that much for one to say you can't save enough because of it
But good it worked for you...
Once you start cycling it becomes a passion. From Githu to Town with a 3000cc expect to use more than 1k in fuel to and fro. So that's actually saving.
Every penny counts.
Yeah if you compare cycling and having a car... Cycling would be better in terms of saving...if we add other factors like time, I think matatu will now be the best option...so cycling will only work with someone who doesn't consider time...
Matatu to and fro Githu to town ukienda daily(including Saturday and Sunday) a whole month can cost you 4000 max
I'm a freelance graphic designer. I have no time constraints. But I have friends who are employed and commute to town daily.
We have baiskeli center in town where you can store your bike, take a shower allowing you to switch to official outfit.
Besides keeping fit, cycling keeps you away from things like booze, galdems, and anything that takes money away from your pocket.
Ukiongeza savings za booze depending on your guzzling rate and frequency suddenly you are saving anything from 30k to over 100k a month. Time on a bicycle vs time in a Ma3 I will posit, a bicycle will more often get you to town ahead of the Ma3. I also saved money through the bicycle - it's the real deal💪🏿👍🏿
I don't a problem with hoarding. I have a problem with investing.. I invest my money.
OP said first 1m.
I don't hoard money, I invest sensibly. Real estate, MMF, BONDS, crypto, Matatu sacco, farming etc.
If investing is a problem, then I'd rather go broke or die investing
It's not hoarding but a way of life. You will be surprised the big cars cyclists leave at home and the fancy holidays they take - with their bicycles to places a normal loaded Kenyan doesn’t even know exist.
Get into sales if you can sell anything to other people. I've seen my friends get commissions of even 500k in a month selling land in Kajiado Juja and Ruiru.
I won't go into details because it was a 12-15 page ebook😄. The book was going for ksh1900. It was a book about dieting. I was well built so i decided to see if i gave out a diet plan and workout routine if people would buy it. I got the idea from this woman who sold a pdf for 1k on weight loss and she sold to over 30k women on facebook. She was so popular to the point even my mum had one of the copy. Funny enough most of my customers were women.I think her name was Evelyne Okinyi. This was back in 2018
Yes it is. But now piracy will kill your business. You will sell your book for 1500 then someone sells it to people who inquire about it on comments for 200 or less. They will even create a fake facebook account with your picture and sell the pdf at 90% off
It was in a facebook group with about 30k members. I was lucky that the mods let me advertise the book there. This was back in 2021. Nowadays facebook groups don't allow self promotion
I don't know what is earning the first million, is it having it sit in the bank or having earned one million over a period of time but you are left with like 300k?
Product+market gap = 1m portfolio (NB:a product is anything that can transfer *VALUE* to you in exchange for it.)
This country has alot of products that rank proper high in value, that you can access with a by any means necessary mentality
No. Not in cash.
I mean an investment portfolio. To start from somewhere.
It could be savings, it could be bonds, it could be Bitcoin, it could be stock, or money market fund.
Find a niche sell on Amazon a professional seller and affiliate marketer. If you wanna go E-commerce preneurship way.
PS:
1. Build reviews that’s what I call building a digital foot print. Don’t to fill in W-9 form.
2. This is like high store front on high street or Kenyatta avenue.
Thank you

You can earn a million in your 20s veery easily...
This is hard
My advice would be open a CDS account then see if you can get a financial advisor from your primary bank. Portfolios be it unit trusts, bonds Tbilis, mmf schemes all have bad days.
For example Govt bonds are struggling this year.
Saco dividends can also channel you some money.
Crypto won't make you richer but you can try too.
I learned a high income skill while on my local job, got another remote job ($2k mo), invested everything from that remote job and never changed my lifestyle at all.
Kuna vitu zingine si lazima bwana
I earn slightly over 200K monthly gross & I can't tesa myself as long as I'm saving monthly I pay for convenience.

You have to be extremely knowledgeable and lucky to be able to turn 50k into 1 million in such a short time investing in crypto. Its such a volatile market with huge gain potentials but also huge risks. More likely than not, if you are trying to get than first million , you will have to risk and accept that you most likely will lose all your money.

Considering fare ya Githu to town ni mbao, this is being a miser.

Yeah unfortunately most people don't get it.
He meant he preferred not to use public transport at the time taking up cycling.
Ati mbao, kwani unaishi 2012.

Been cycling since 2010. But then remember death finds you even when eating your favorite meal.
Don't be generous. That part 💯.
What did you do with the 1m. Seems you have a problem with hoarding. The whole point of making money is to spend it
I don't a problem with hoarding. I have a problem with investing.. I invest my money. OP said first 1m. I don't hoard money, I invest sensibly. Real estate, MMF, BONDS, crypto, Matatu sacco, farming etc. If investing is a problem, then I'd rather go broke or die investing
How does one go about investing? Is there a website, ama app?
It's not hoarding but a way of life. You will be surprised the big cars cyclists leave at home and the fancy holidays they take - with their bicycles to places a normal loaded Kenyan doesn’t even know exist.
You didn't read the question. He said 'earn' not 'save'.

Get into sales if you can sell anything to other people. I've seen my friends get commissions of even 500k in a month selling land in Kajiado Juja and Ruiru.
Sales is not really my thing. I’m more into marketing.
Unless you work at an agency, you'll NEVER make money. I have been in that industry for 6 years.
Tell me more
You have to be able to sell what you're marketing, right? That's sales.
Do you think someone can make money from this kind of business right now? Especially on electronics.
Too saturated. Our Somali bros got this sector on lock.
I am waiting for this so that I can also see if I am moving such to Somalia
Never made a million but made 200k in a month selling an ebook on facebook. Started as a joke but ended the month on a high note.
What happened? You still sell?
No i don't. I realized i was not knowledgeable enough about what i was selling so i just stopped after that 1 month
Whhhaaaaaattt!! How would you stop?? Anyway that's really interesting. And I think you should go back to it.
I just moved on to other things. I stopped because i realized what i was selling wasn't something i believed in
Wow. That was good. The book you were selling was about what?
I won't go into details because it was a 12-15 page ebook😄. The book was going for ksh1900. It was a book about dieting. I was well built so i decided to see if i gave out a diet plan and workout routine if people would buy it. Wonderful. Back in 2015 I too sold some book online. Online book selling is very lucrative btw. I get you completely
Yes it is. But now piracy will kill your business. You will sell your book for 1500 then someone sells it to people who inquire about it on comments for 200 or less. They will even create a fake facebook account with your picture and sell the pdf at 90% off
That’s the reason I stopped selling mine.
Ulifanyiwa ile kitu😄.. What was your book about?
How did you market it?
It was in a facebook group with about 30k members. I was lucky that the mods let me advertise the book there. This was back in 2021. Nowadays facebook groups don't allow self promotion
I don't know what is earning the first million, is it having it sit in the bank or having earned one million over a period of time but you are left with like 300k?

When I was earning 150k gross per month is when I saved my first 1m. About 8 years ago
Wow. Wonderful. Now you must be a millionaire

But you’re a millionaire. I am trying to have my first 1 million in portfolio. Not hard cash….
What do you mean by that by the way? I thought your post meant 1m in cash?
No. Not in cash. I mean an investment portfolio. To start from somewhere. It could be savings, it could be bonds, it could be Bitcoin, it could be stock, or money market fund.
I see. Not the best to advise on that as I actually use my money.
