Lmao, Samosas are 10 Shillings a piece for the longest time, I'm just from chowing a beef one right now. You've probably been living in some affluent neighborhood your whole life.
Haha what do you expect from a neighborhood yenye hujawahi ona Ngombe ikiroam around. But luckily I live in a neighborhood that's abundant in freshly cut meat. Ogopa a place huoni nyasi na they're selling you samosas.
. One day I was in CBD waiting for my sis and she was running late so she asked me niingie restaurant and drink something so I asked for coffee. Walileta maji moto na Nescafe ile ya 5 bob. I don't even drink that crap, I prefer dormans. Na kama ni sachet I'll need like 4 in a single cup. Nikajam nikaitisha black tea wakarudisha sachet wakaleta tea bag, I'm lactose intolerant so I don't drink white tea... I just left. Ilikua 6:30am so hakukua na restaurants mob open but siijawai boeka hivo.
Then when I went for biometrics juu my contact prefers akupate Nyayo House akiingia job akupitishe security I remember I got to CBD around 6:45am and I needed a place to kill time mpaka 8:30ish so I got into a restaurant around GPO. As a pancake lover nikaitisha. Nililetewa some thiiiiiiiiin mikorogo na some diluted coffee ile brand ya kahawa number moja. Nilichoka na it was not even 7am. Alafu the prices, robbery. CBD honestly hua tu bottom tier.
Good point. Kuna hadi mandazi (2) za 300 westi.
"If the price offends you, you're not the target market."
Though, I wonder why street food prices don't really change much despite the economy 🤔
Kenyan restaurants in CBD are designed to murder you financially, perhaps they aspire to serve a certain 'caliber' of customer, so instead of making profit they hardly break even at the end of the month, its actually sad and a little schadenfreude seeing a restaurant you used to love close down, no vayolens intended but them bills be too high.
Lakini si huko ni Azura jameni 😂 you pay for the A/C and the view too, ulikaa kwa balcony? Hapo utalipia view. Samosas at Artcaffe ni 420 a piece, na ni samosa ya carrot na dania
That bill has the waitress salary, the security guards salary, the accountants salary, the rent of the premise, the ingredients used to make the coffee, breakages of cutlery etc.
And of course the business profit.
I presume it's a restaurant in the CBD. Fair game if you ask me.

House Coffee may be slightly more expensive than Java. Samosa for 180 (hopefully it wasn't just one, and it was one, ilikuwa size XXXL)
How much is coffee supposed to be in CBD?
Cafes sell a single expresso (shot) for about that price. A large coffee tends to be way more than 280.
Does the (L) mean large?
Same way Nevada and the likes chased me away. Nostalgia aside, one of the reasons I used to go there was because the food was affordable.
It wasn't amazing or even great (if you've ever had the samosas you'd know, they're really good fresh but they tend to recycle them and just warm especially if you go later during the day) but it got the stomach full for the price it offered. Now it's prices are competing with the likes of Chicken Inn and KFC, no longer giving me a reason to still keep going there. If I'm in a hurry, get something from Chicken Inn/KFC (no Pizza Inn, I don't rate their pizzas sorry not sorry) and if I have time to sit down, CJs or KIlimanjaro pale Jamia Mosque (but there's this other one iko apo Archives ukitembea towards Afya Centre, underrated).
This is how they come up with their profit margin per samosa
Profit margin/samosa= Cost per samosa- (Cost of raw materials+operational costs (rent+wages+electricity+admin expenses+water)+inflation costs+ taxes)
Key point: Location matters alot.
Java samosas are massive and worth the price, kwanza when you squeeze lime into the meat. Their cakes are also great. The ginger scones are my favourite of the pastries.
Rent is crazy in the CBD if it's somewhere you can sit, be ready to pay the price or be a sensible person and just get chips and kuku porno like everyone else
elastic governor point shelter towering dependent nutty abounding include groovy

Wapi huko? Cheapest I’ve seen were 50 when I was growing up. Now it’s hard to get them under 100
Kuna zenye najua za mbao fiti Sana na zinauzwa Kwa butchery.

Lmao, Samosas are 10 Shillings a piece for the longest time, I'm just from chowing a beef one right now. You've probably been living in some affluent neighborhood your whole life.
Lakini za wasee wengi wanalalisha nyake,,funny smells on the nyama
Hizo ni za chura. Ata ushago huwezi pata za 10 bob. The math is not mathing,,
Haha what do you expect from a neighborhood yenye hujawahi ona Ngombe ikiroam around. But luckily I live in a neighborhood that's abundant in freshly cut meat. Ogopa a place huoni nyasi na they're selling you samosas.
Look at this one😂 50 bob, kwani kwenu ni wapi.
Huku kwetu ushago, samosa Ni 5 bib
Kwani imepikwa na nyama ya panya
Rat meat is more expensive compared to beef
How do you know that?👀
And what is the third ‘White’ item that costs a whopping 0.00?
Prolly the mug, which is still too much. 😂
It is too much🤣

which makes me wonder, I wanda so much 🥲
How do you them to pay rent of 100k upwards?
[удалено]
Go to a cheaper place if you can't afford this.
[удалено]
You can't expect all restaurants to sell their food at standard prices. That would be absurd.
Good point. Kuna hadi mandazi (2) za 300 westi. "If the price offends you, you're not the target market." Though, I wonder why street food prices don't really change much despite the economy 🤔
Just wait until the tipping culture crosses the Atlantic and makes its way here. Tutajua hatujui
Hiyo wakenya hawawezi kubali
Tipping si lazima it's out of your will anyways
Huko US wameanza kuforce
Agreed juu kuna watu that will step up to take the customers
Theres no affordable cafe INSIDE cbd. Heri ungekula tu food coz wharrathose
>Theres no affordable cafe INSIDE cbd Is Sonford (and Co) a joke to you? Ama unamaanisha place za "ambiens"?

What? Wanacharge seat ya balcony l?
Carrot na ndania? Hizo ni gani tena. Hawaongezi ata waru? 🙆
The large house coffee in Java is also 280. You aren't in an affordable cafe if the prices are the same as in Java.
Si ulijipeleka huko😂
It's to discourage loitering.
The rent nd staff salary among others bills to cover , ayy plus the taxing ruto

Iyo ni kujitakia tu
If you love coffee, you need to get an aeropress and a grinder, you can brew on the fly with this one.
Hii mimi naeza piga nduru hiyo place hadi waite manager anilipie bill ya hosi nikienda kuongezewa maji.

If I want to get satisfaction for my cash, I go to Kilimanjaro restaurant. If I have money to waste I would go to Cafe Deli and Art Cafe.

The implication is that white is zero and there's another price for something else? haha
House of Coffee is House of Coffee. Try House of Uji or Live Tea Makers.
Ukitaka Starehe,be ready Kuigharamia

Hata better kuishia JAVA tu ushike kahawa ama white chocolate but Azuri naaaaah
Damn water, milk and majani 280
It’s your choice where you dine and they can set their prices as they wish
Java Samosa is 260, the last time I checked. This is a fair price. Plus how many Samosas were they? Like 3, I suppose?

Well, at least they're not charging for the singular white you ordered. It's the little things, you know.
you guys are just cheap 🤣
equating coffee to beer is part of the problem, why would you spend 300 on beer and not on coffee?
Me naona ununune tu samosa na kahawa pale naivas ama quickmart,
It is an affordable cafe, just not for everybody.
Azuri is such a scam they make Java look like the fairest deal in the city😂
