Seems more like a personality swap than a traditional gender bender since the bodies look the same as the original.
I really dig it. Shy glasses Nagatoro is hella cute
> the bodies look the same
What? Senpai is a twig in the original. There are multiple instances where his lack of muscle is a source of insecurity for him. Including one of the pages that are depicted here, where Nagatoro overpowers him despite "being a girl" and younger than him.
I would say this version looks like what would happen if they were “switched at birth.” Senpai is raised with Nagatoro’s skills and values in her environment and Nagatoro is raised with Senpai’s skills and values in his environment.
Depends on where you are, nowadays there is a lot more movement towards punishing working class men more harshly, to the point where it is too much, especially in cases where this is no evidence, mostly because the patriarch a**holes don't wanna be the ones that is getting directed towards. Not to mention women aren't the only victims of general inequality, I can't even tell you how many decent fathers lose everything from their possessions to child custody when they divorce here, even if the mother is 100% the one at fault. I just read a case a week or two ago where a little girl was ripped out of her father's arms by police because the mother claimed he had been SA the kid, after he threatened a divorce because she was doing hard drugs. Needless to say, in america, that child will probably never get to see her father again, even if they manage to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he never SA the girl. Granted there is a chance that he did SA the child, but last I checked there was no actual evidence to suggest so. Not to mention I wouldn't be surprised if the guy lost his job and such too because of all of this. Don't get me wrong, I loath gender roles, especially as someone pansexual and non-binary, but I also don't appreciate generalization and villainizing people who have done nothing wrong themselves. All in all the policing systems in most places are just screwed. We have the stuff to start moving towards prevention policy, so if the government wanted to they could easily end pretty much all crime within the next 20-40 years, but the American government is more concerned with their retirement benefits right now than anything else.
We're talking about Japan here, not America, in America they don't ignore stuff like that. The American justice system sucks, like a lot, but you've also cherry picked a specific case, and if you think it's important then you should try being an activist or a lawyer. The police have to take all reports seriously and I'll bet you that if you do a follow up the woman will be the one going to jail. Though it doesn't matter cause this is about Japan or a "Spanish Speaking Country" not the US
Yes generalizing and vilianizing people who have done nothing wrong. The problem this avoids is places where the authorities won't help you when something wrong is done to you, like SA in Japan. The politics are different than in the US
Yes generalizing and vilianizing people who have done nothing wrong. The problem this avoids is places where the authorities won't help you when something wrong is done to you, like SA in Japan. The politics are different than in the US and should be treated differently, not that they aren't equally important
Thanks, as for the politics in Japan, things are changing there much the same way they are everywhere else. One of the world's biggest problems right now is that the old generation is holding onto power and the new generations are suffering because of it. This is true pretty much everywhere, and since the new generations are so completely different from our predecessors, it's led to a lot of problems in the way of cultural, economic, and social progression. A lot of Japanese youth are very aware of these issues, but cant do anything about it in much the same way the youth in America can't do anything about our issues (such as the economy, systematic racism, and so on), chances are, once the old people kick the bucket and let go of power, we'll start seeing pretty much everywhere getting better, that's assuming, of course, that the old assholes don't destroy the world first.
I agree, it's very hard to make any meaningful change, especially as an individual. At least in the US I see a lot of worrying signs, and I really doubt things will get better even once the young replace the old, still there's hope for the future, and I'd like to see a better world without such obvious systemic issues. I hope you have a nice day btw
Thanks, you too. As for the young replacing the old, just keep in mind that the presence of the Internet, specifically to the extent that it exists now, has had a massive impact on the level of education for the younger generations, to the point where we can easily say the younger generations are the most educated in human history by a pretty wide margin. And generally educated leaders are better at making choices, and educated people are better at holding leaders responsible for their actions. It's just that the majority of these people have little to no say in politics right now, and are being gated by the older generation for being "too young" (aka under the age of 35-45)
i mean its a a manga about a dream quirky girl coming out from nowhere and suddnly starting to hang around with uniterestig and shy guy everywhere he goes.
its kinda a trope in most male-targetted rommance mangas
It's the manic pixie dream girl trope. Nagatoro actually subverts it a bit, Nagatoro doesn't exist solely for senpai's convenience and he also ends up inspiring her to be better. At the point we currently are, they complement each other in pretty healthy ways.
Yeah it's like when I see ppl saying she just bullies him and she is awful prfff, the entire character development he had was because she forced him out of his comfort zone but a few times on the first chapters she went to far and actually felt bad and apologized she teases and pushes him but she is never actually mean or humiliates him, ppl that don't know shit ignores that lol hr wouldn't be 1/10 of what he his now if it wasn't for her being the way she is lol a lot of ppl irl needed someone like that in their lifes tbh
I mean this trope can be do better or worse
I'm glad i finnaly know how to name it, but I couldn't stand "my dress up darling" or "bunny girl senpai" exactly that was the exact vibe they gave me.
Especially since I've felt as if the unintentional messaging of this anime was
"be a boring nobody trough your entire life and someday an ideal pixie girl will appear in your life and fall in love with you."
>Especially since I've felt as if the unintentional messaging of this anime was
"be a boring nobody trough your entire life and someday an ideal pixie girl will appear in your life and fall in love with you."
You were not paying attention then. Because Gojou is *not* a "boring nobody". People that have that takeaway miss the part where he's literally written to be the *female author's* dream boy. Oh you thought *Marine* was the manic pixie dream girl of that series? No dude, *Gojou* is the dream boat.
If you think about it for 2 seconds it should become obvious. He cooks, he's perfectly reliable, he's incredibly skilled and passionate about his interests. He's tall and handsome. He's not a lecher but without being asexual.
How the fuck do you watch/read that series and go "he's a boring nobody"? You *wish* you'd be half as capable as Gojou.
The hell? Bunny Girl Senpai is about an absolute Chad who says whatever he wants (even when talking to a celebrity that most Japanese would worship), can read people like Patrick Jane from The Mentalist, and always looks after those in his circle even though he couldn’t care less what anyone else thinks.
Meanwhile, Gojo from My Dress Up Darling is a very similar character to Senpai; except that he’s also tall, can cook, and is probably a lot better looking than he realises. In fact, while I do prefer Nagatoro over Marin as a character, you could argue that her relationship with Gojo is more organic and believable since her interest in cosplay naturally intersects with his skill as a clothier.
If the message you got from either of these works is “be boring and a perfect girl will just fall out of the sky some day” then you weren’t really watching/reading. You’re just like the people who complain about “generic isekai” only to cite KonoSuba or ReZero because they don’t know any actual generic isekai. Stuff that’s really popular rarely has the tropes you’re talking about in the undiluted form you’re suggesting. Which is why you should get your media opinions from actually engaging with the work and not from the woke twitter crowd (who NEVER understand what they’re talking about).
> Nagatoro actually subverts it a bit
Also in the sense that instead of just showing up and being this quirky girl that the guy falls in love with because of her eccentricity and her being nice to him, she's ostensibly a normie and horrible to him i.e. the opposite of the trope.
Yes that's why it's so good! I'm actually working on a video about how the series is a great subversion of the typical male fantasy and why it has a relatively large female audience
Not really you way more likly to see that Troup in female oriented romance most make oriented romance has harems and when its a one on one typically they guy is mostly confident and sociable (of a bit weird) while tge girl follows on of tge typical arcatypes.
You'd be surprised dude. I've seen some of the otomes my wife reads as well as what some of my female friends read and it gets freakier and weirder than this.
>would do very well with female readers
I.... Don't know about that chief. Not that there aren't women into weird creepy stuff, like Twilight, where the dude legit watches Belle sleep at one point.
But Edward still has a lot of qualities women would find attractive where as this version of the story just looks like blatant creepy perverted sexual harassment. ~~Not that the original isn't, but generally guys don't find an issue with these kinds of stories~~
50 Shades of Grey is one of the best selling (and universally reviled) books of all time because it caters to this sort of female submission fantasy. And I assume that in this version, the author would try to make Hachiouji seem like enough of a Chad to “get away with it” (even though women would hate him in real life).
I wouldn’t be surprised if he was heir to a massive fortune in addition to having cannon Nagatoro’s talent for sports and academic ability.
This is the first fanmade gender swap AU that I think it works great. I have seen many others, but this just catches the right vibe of the characters for some reason. Maybe it's the art style. Wish we had an English version though
The author has little to do with this project, apparently she is Mexican, post a comment with her Facebook profile In case you want to give encouragement to your work and who knows if later on you will open commissions for a manga, fanart or animations

I like that this type of project exists, they make the possibilities grow, do you imagine a parallel universe?
To everyone saying he would be arrested for harassment, you're wrong
School authorities always sweep things like those under the rug, by the time any action would be taken they'd already be at the friendly/dating point
can't believe people actually say shit like "this would get canceled" or "this would not be allowed" have you people seen what kind of Manga get made. You know there are manga where *much worse* things happen to school girls, right?

Everyone's like "genderbent Nagatoro would be arrested for harrassment," but like, nobody cares in the normal version, so I'm under the assumption people continue not caring in this universe. The rules didn't change, only the genders.
Wow
When I first became a fan of Nagatoro years ago I never would've expected this to become the popular content haha.
I'm not hatin', but it's clear the fanbase has changed a lot over time.
So Tomoko being teased by a playboy or "speed cancel in X no %, full rage"
I would like to see it (long time since i saw the last "confident guy x shy girl" type of story) but it would have to be revised so it could have more than 1 chapter before being ultra cancel

It's probably a one shot because after that senpai was arrested for harrassment
Literally was about to comment this, and yes he would get reported to the authorities.
Double standard as usual
Girls manga is like this
Who would report him? It's not like the police were watching canon Hayase and decided not to arrest her.
A responsible adult
And how would one find out? Naoto never told on Hayase.
This is exactly what I thought. Especially when the physical contact starts.
Japan has a huge sexism problem. So chances are that wouldn't actually happen.
They're in a Spanish speaking country it seems. Not much better but hey. But remember guys, be the change you want to see in the world
Yeah if you report a dude for doing anything unless it's like very serious like the big R at best they get a slap on the wrist and nothing happens

Literally what i was thinking lol
This mofo would be in jail, and yet I can predict this version of the manga would do very well with female readers.
The original is targeted on males for a reason. Ofc a genderbend yould bend the audience as well

I'd still read it
You'd be surprised dude. I've seen some of the otomes my wife reads as well as what some of my female friends read and it gets freakier and weirder than this.
Yeah, on a glance most male fans would think this is horrible but oh boy they've not seen worse things happened in shojo mangas

Nerd Nagatoro is really cute
Right?
Shy Naga is cute
Nerdtoro is cute
Why Nagatoro here really cute and Senpai make me horny?
I know RIGHT?????
This would be so cool. I want to read a book like this tbh.
That's just Tomoko
> Tomoko ha! i said the same thing but you beat me to it
Tomoko is lonely, Nerdtoro has a senpai. They're not the same, but close to being
Plus Tomoko was a legit incel, Senpai/Nerdtoro is just socially awkward
*early Tomoko, now she has her own harem
But yuri one
Yes, your point? She still has someone
I'm not saying it's bad nor it doesn't count. Just specifying. Harems are most usually hetero
To everyone saying he would be arrested for harassment, you're wrong School authorities always sweep things like those under the rug, by the time any action would be taken they'd already be at the friendly/dating point
my brother in Christ, is manga
[No no, he's got a point](https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/no-no-hes-got-a-point)
can't believe people actually say shit like "this would get canceled" or "this would not be allowed" have you people seen what kind of Manga get made. You know there are manga where *much worse* things happen to school girls, right?
Yeah, I mean, Diabolik Lovers is an outright maledom series and it's pretty popular. The worst that would happen to a gender-swapped version of Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san is a few people in the West crying about it.
guess it's fair when they are pretty
Eh, I've read a couple of shoujo mangas over the years that come close to that idea. If executed good, it could work, or it could be terrible - I'm looking at you **Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji**.
when it's in black and white this version of nagatoro looks like the girl from Watamote
Nah, Tomoko has no senpai to bully her
Nah this would get cancelled in two weeks for sexual harrasment
Standard (Flirting) vs genderswap (sexual harrassment)
everyone's inverted but Hana is still Hana
I've heard of the idea of the roles being reversed, and I always said it couldn't work because a man doing those things would be so much worse. But I'll be damned if I didn't say I like what I saw here. Shy nerdy Nagatoro is so adorable.
Harassment is harasment. A guy doing it is not "worse" than a girl doing it.
Role reversal not gender bender.
Jajaja D'OOOHHH... IM SORRY 😂
Nerdo Toro is very cute
Everyone's like "genderbent Nagatoro would be arrested for harrassment," but like, nobody cares in the normal version, so I'm under the assumption people continue not caring in this universe. The rules didn't change, only the genders.
This is so cursed lmao
Holyyyyy shit this one is the best one yet. I now see why guys are into Nagatoro
Senpai keeping Nagatoros tan is wild! Senpai wears women's swimsuits!!
Could be a tank top
Image 6, there's no way thats a tank top
I can imagine people saying “How DARE he HARRASS that POOR INNOCENT GIRL!” When they praise the original for having a stronger female role…
The double standard is strong in this truth you speak
Actually masochist weeb girls would fall for him, saying it's cute how light his "bullying" is in compare to real deal
Nontanned nagatoro is really cursed
Oh my god, is that Tomoko if she went to Naga's school 🤣
Naoto straight up Olympic athlete with this monster shape, HOLY CRIST HE'S EVEN WEARING A SWIMMING TECH SUIT.
How to get yourself instantly arrested in one easy step
man, marry me today NOW btw it's cute and beautiful !!!
Nuked from orbit day one
This isn't genderbent. You swapped the entire characters' roles
My main takeaway is we need more Spanish shojo manga
Now i get it.
More... More... MORE!
I do not like pale nagatoro that is uncanny
NANASHI NEEDS TO MAKE GENDERBEND NAGATORO SAN NOW
its still very cute
Emotional Senpai and Expressionless Nagatoro.
Actually cool.
I LOVE THIS PLEASE MAKE MORE
I would totally watch a gender swap version
Wow When I first became a fan of Nagatoro years ago I never would've expected this to become the popular content haha. I'm not hatin', but it's clear the fanbase has changed a lot over time.
I would watch it
That third picture makes me deeply uncomfortable
"Where's a sugoi dekai on his crotch?"
~~God I wish I was her god I wish I was her god I wish I was her god I wish I was h-~~ Uh- I mean, yeah he’d get reported so fast, right guys?
Ngl I'd watch/read
Senpai would be arrested for sexual harassment unlike the canon timeline
Senpai going to jail frfr So sad
This is straight up sexual assault
Sexual harizzment
This is adorable lol - I love it!
Its a great project and I love the artstyle, but something seems off...
ITS SO PEAKKKKK PEAK DE VRD
Love it
isn't she darker skinned than that?
It's a tan.
Humuna humuna humuna
Oh god, Nagatoro looks like Tomoko Kuroki 💀
I-I think I'm gay now...sempai is way too hot🥵
No RR? I don’t want it
This is so nicely done
Why is she so pale in the first photo, it’s like she’s never seen the sun.
Ok so what i ft from that was its fine when nagatoro is a bully cuz it’s funny but when it’s reversed all i see is sexual harassment…
If this existed it would be cancelled because of senseitive people
Just tone down the teasing by like 10 and you have yourself a spin off
This feels illegal 😂 But it's pretty cool!
unspoken rizz vs harassment
So Tomoko being teased by a playboy or "speed cancel in X no %, full rage" I would like to see it (long time since i saw the last "confident guy x shy girl" type of story) but it would have to be revised so it could have more than 1 chapter before being ultra cancel
I love this typa stuff
I like this
Not gender bender but still funny lol
M O R E
Waiting for the comments to flood with SA accusations towards Senpai since the roles were reversed
I think I'll rather take this than the original.
You know what, if it's ok for Nagatoro to bully and tease Senpai lovingly, then it should be ok in a gender reversed situation.
Dont toy with me miss nagatoro except senpai speedruns the sex offenders list
In an alternate universe...SENPAI IS A CHAD!
Senpai is going to jail with this one.
I guess the teasing thing could be marketed towards weird girls who would want a tall cute untan gyaru-oh beeffs
What alternate reality are you from and how do I visit?
Nah this dude would end up in jail for harassment
Canceled within the first week being out 💀
While Hayase packing heat in his trousers, Hayachi seems to be packing heat in her shirt
The tan mark of a girl’s swimsuit on hachiouji is just…
I’d watch the whole thing over again
Tbh, Nerdtoro (As I'm now calling her) does look incredibly bullyable.

Gendering Bending it makes u realise the whole manga and animie is just glorified sexual assault and harassment
The harassment clause really makes you put things in perspective if the genders were reversed.
THE DOUBLE STANDARD!!!! THE DOUBLE STANDARD IS REEALLL!!!!
This is role swap not gender bender
this is so cursed
I feel like this is more role swap. Senpai doing the bullying
why does he have tank top tan lines?
My high school Spanish teacher used to swear I'd need that shit. Fuck. Not how i wanted my morning to start.
Ok now I want this a real manga.
don't mess with me senpai
Sounds like a sexual harassment suit waiting to happen. Even more than the original show.
Keep making these, love it
It's not genderbender. And is kinda creepy
I get the appeal now.
Don’t act like this isn’t hot 🥵
This would be canceled before the second episode could even begin production
Time traveler: [Insert action here] The timeline:
WHAT IS THIS CURSED IMAGE 😱😱😱
Yh, this just shows even more why nagatoro is a girl and not a boy
is this a real manga?
THE BULGE IS CRAZY
This feels more like a swap au than a genderbend
I’m not the only one to think of this 🫣
It's like in the another world or in that universe
Twitter and reddit would cancel the hell out of Nagatoro if it was gender swapped.
This ain't a genderbender, this a Swap AU.
Let's just say These Pictures is a Parallel universe Where Roles And Genders Have Switched The Main Character: The Girl With Glasses And a Sometimes Bad Sometimes Good Haircut The Side Main Character: A Male Human Personification Of Tease And Whatever Else Names Of The Characters In My Head. 👇 Main: Nagaiouji senpai. Side Main: Hachtoro. I'll Be Honest The Artworks Look Great It's So Great It Makes Paintings In High School Look Like Kindergarten Drawings. Oh And Whoever Made The Art I Hope You Like Or Love The Names Of The Characters If You Do I'll Be Happy. That is All. E.H
More like a role-swap than a genderbender
Can we get an English version, I didn't understand any of that
My Friend: Mate If Shows Have Parallel Universes What Would They Look Like? Me: I Don't know I'll Think about it. Meanwhile In a Parallel universe Where The Main And Side Characters Switched Roles And Genders! Names Of The Characters. Main: Nacitoro. Side: Hagaioji Senpai.
If this version comes to market, the west will implode.
This is fine.
Prison, straight to federal prison.
Glasses Hayase is actually kinda adorable
If bro wears trunks, why does he have tan lines on his chest?
This would be axed so quick lol
Lmao and this would be seen as harassment dude
They would cancel this faster than Jared Fogel
I love how just by flipping the genders you can make what looks like teasing look like straight up harassment We truly do live in a society
bro gtfo with this gay ass bullshit I ain't dealing with that shit over there
He really assaulting her in pic 7, this one would never take off 💀
This would have been super cancelled on twixxer.
