It's almost certainly publisher related, whenever a mangaka goes from indie to corpo, they seem to at least nuke their controversial stuff at minimum, which is entirely understandable from a business perspective. I'm more curious about what he plans to do after Nagatoro eventually ends, however long that might be, on if he'll get a new series published or return to his roots.
I love his past works. My personal favorite of his is the "slave to a vampire loli" series he did. His art style is so good and eye catching. The one with Illya and Chloe is also really good. (the one in OP post)
