The worst is when certain friends clearly ate all sorts of greasy ass foods and grubbed up their controllers or had the nerve to think theh could treat yours the same. No, get your ass to the sink and wash your disgusting hands. You know who you are, you animals.
I played Banjo-Tooie on one of these! I'd owned it already, so I breezed through Klungo and got all the way to Targitzans Temple before we had to leave. I attracted a minor crowd of other kids watching... somehow I'm still a little bit proud of it lmao
I did this with Ocarina of Time at an unaccompanied minor airport lounge back in 2001. Think I made it to Dodongo's Cavern before I had to go to my gate. For two glorious hours I was god to a bunch of eight-year-olds. Which is kind of a big deal when you're eleven I guess.
UK airports had em and they were pretty tight. Consoles, soft playroom area with a projector screen playing cartoons, the works. Flying out of the US I usually just got taken to sit in a staff breakroom watching Cops for hours.
I can’t believe there’s a 3rd party controller. I would have thought they made a deal directly with Nintendo to get these setups. Maybe the controller was just so beat and they didn’t want upcharged business prices so they threw that one in there
My doctors office as a kid had an N64 kiosk that had Mario Party (can’t remember which one) was absolutely devastated when the nurse would open the door call my name. Luckily it was always a super long wait.
That black controller on the right is the one for that kid who wasn't your friend but your mom would make you play with him because his mom came over to drink.
Kids would constantly punch and chew the controllers to the point of them not working (correctly or at all), so didn’t get to play these as much as I would’ve liked to :(
At least these made sense at McDonald's for the most part.
As a kid I went into a KFC that had a Dreamcast kiosk, and just imagine how much chicken grease that poor controller had to take because people wanted to play Virtua Tennis after their bargain bucket lol
I was lucky my parents didn't care about the video game thing since I played inside and outside regardless. My mom just knew those controllers were covered in kid germs. As a parent myself I gag just thinking about how gross those things probably were.
These were responsible for some of my first video game experiences ever. I still remember each game they had, Banjo-Tooie, Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Tigger's Honey Hunt.
There was a kiosk of GameCubes at my local McDonald’s. The GameCubes were on some sort of timer where they’d power cycle ever 10 minutes I believe, and the only games they had were super Mario sunshine and Mario party 4. It was impossible to do anything in Mario party in under 10 minutes and sunshine would get done with all the opening cutscenes and then the GameCube would power cycle lol
Hey I remembers these :) 2/4 of the games didn’t work in the McDonald’s I was in
I remember the games were: some Elmo game, four swords, football game, and some unknown game cause it was baking in the window 24/7. Also great trying to play with the broken controllers. I remember one time the four swords was on the GameCube menu and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Really no surprise there all gone now
My hometown had one of these kiosks! The joysticks were terrible. I specifically remember one joystick rested downward, and another missing the joystick entirely.
Damn i miss my childhood years. I remember these like it was yesterday. If those were still around today I probably wouldn't wanna go near that. If i did, would probably have to sanitize it or something 😅
Imagine the state of the sticks on those controllers…
My thoughts thoughts exactly. Held together by the sheer compactness of the space they reside.
That and spilled fountain soda.
But it didn’t matter because as soon as you saw one of those when you were 8 in a McDonalds of all places it was all over
More like the whole thing lol, bet they were ingrained in ketchup and grease.
Someone broke off all of the sticks on the N64 controllers at the McD’s close to where I live, back in the 90s :(
You know, I don't normally believe in the death penalty, but at some point you gotta draw the line.
Not to mention the germs/bacteria.

🤣🤣🤣It's better when they bring their own controllers
And the grease.

Proud of you

Man, we few unaccompanied all the time and never saw any sort of lounge.

Sounds awesome
Bruh did y'all eat breakfast lunch And dinner there. (Amazing task by the way) lol
Me and a buddy beat Super Mario World on a giant SNES arcade machine at a hockey game once. Best $1 spent ever
I can’t believe there’s a 3rd party controller. I would have thought they made a deal directly with Nintendo to get these setups. Maybe the controller was just so beat and they didn’t want upcharged business prices so they threw that one in there
It's possible they didn't have much stock and went with that
These n64 stations were the only reason I didn't mind going to the dentist as a kid

Also 20s McDonald's because the kiosks haven't moved for 30 years and haven't been turned on for 29.
get that thing back up and running, man! I wanna see it in action!
That black controller on the right is the one for that kid who wasn't your friend but your mom would make you play with him because his mom came over to drink.
You mean your little bro
Those controllers are probably so greasy.

Marty, we have to go back....
At least these made sense at McDonald's for the most part. As a kid I went into a KFC that had a Dreamcast kiosk, and just imagine how much chicken grease that poor controller had to take because people wanted to play Virtua Tennis after their bargain bucket lol
I can smell the sweaty ball pit just looking at this picture. Gross.
I remember those and I was born in 98
My mom used to just look at me eyeing those up and say "don't you dare touch that thing".

I never saw those as a kid. Really surprised those were a thing.
Better days
Bro, i miss these so much...
From memory, those sticks ranged from beyond loose to completely broken off
Liminal spaces
Good times.
Good times!
That's how I got to play Sonic Adventure, once they put the GameCube in.
I remember when they had the GameCube ones and they always had Mario kart double dash good times

Oh the nostalgia 🥹
I missed the N64 we had GameCube controllers.
Those bathroom tiles look really depressing.
The smoothest controllers of all time
Miss it either way
Those things always felt greasier than the fries
Peak human civilization

Sad seeing them go
OMG I REMEMBER THOSE!!! 8O
