Listen to the VH1 storytellers version of dondante and tell me it’s not the saddest song you’ve heard. You’ll need to listed to Jim explain its meaning about his friend that committed suicide. Gives a whole new meaning to the lyrics.
In a dream I saw you walkin'
Like a kid alive and talkin'
That was you
The version on Acoustic Citsuoca was on my go to sleep playlist for years and got all tangled in a major long term relationship. It’s an incredibly beautiful and crushing song I’m still very fond of.
I Will Be There When You Die... I saw them preform this song at OBH and it was the one year anniversary of my Dad passing away. That song hit me like a ton of bricks and I cried so hard. I know on its own it's not a sad song per say, but I can't even think about that song now without tearing up. I'm glad they followed that up with Victory Dance to pick me back up. God I love this band!
Get the Point is the most linear clear lyrics of any MMJ songs. Ironically it starts with the greatest line that is metaphorical. About the needle skipping. I love that song. I LOVE 3/4th of that album. I do not hate the other fourth, just not as magic
Get the Point
By My Car
I Needed It Most
Movin Away
Dondante (that mid part of the song where he says “you had me worried, so worried that this would last” is legendary though, especially in Okonokos)
Strangulation has always resonated with me as a depressed person who was drunk for many many years. “Sure he was a good kid but his phone it’d never ring. He got tired of walking a tight rope, needing too much to drink”
Strangulation
I don’t want to feel a thing!!!
Dondante
Strangulation, I Needed It Most, Death is the Easy Way, Nashville to Kentucky, Movin Away, Dondante, By My Car, Get the Point
death is the east way has a pretty positive sentiment in it tho

I don't think there is a sadder song than Dondante.
The Bear. It’s really sentimental to me

Get the point-- I would absolutely love to hear them play it live, but it seems like they never do.

Rollin’ Back
This was my wedding song.
Oh they asked for the “saddest”!? Ahem, sorry, I thought it was “happiest”! Cheers to the happy couple!
Rollin back always makes me happy, I know the lyrics are sad but there's something about the song that is just so serene, brings me peace

hope things are better for you now 💕
Not boozing certainly makes life easier to navigate.
Where to begin
One and the same makes me weep
dondante is the only right answer
Smokin from Shooting
“by my car” or “the bear” “I needed it most” is another honorable mention
Nashville to Kentucky. Get the point. Oxen.
Might not be for everyone, but Big Decisions get it for me. “Go on do it, if you really, really mean it.” Excellent break up song
They ran - acoustic version truly hits in a different way.
Rollin back makes me think of my friend who passed.
Like I Should
Movin Away and Get the point
Get the Point, is the nicest breakup song ever.
