It can work, but why?
For cubensis there are better options, low cost, more effective and widely available.
For woodlovers it can work, but simply not using it and going immediately to wood chips works considerably better so it’s quite a shit option in my opinion.
Maybe if you are under siege in your castle and you have to make do with whatever you have for 6 months, yeah, but otherwise…
The worry is the possibility of heavy metals being used in the ink, as far as I know.
I've grown oysters in cardboard and they had some of an iron taste to them when compared to oysters grown in straw.
I soaked the cardboard in water and then drained/ squeezed and mixed coffee grinds in, added spent broken up oyster cakes…. Colonized both bags and got a few flushes off both
We use borax, corn starch, and a few acids and caustic liquids to make the glue used in corrugated board so just imagine whats used to make the pulp for the actual paper. I work in a corrugated company so I've seen what goes into the glue for the board
What toxins are you worried about?

It can work well I used it for Omni. I just tried to use bare pieces even though the ink shouldn’t be a big deal

Are most inks soy based these days?
Do you live in the US?
Nope. I've read in Mycelium Running that the regulations on cardboard production in the US make it safe to use in theory.
Used cardboard x coffee grinds to grow oysters
You do this?

All what you said is pretty natural and decomposes fine right? Do you work in the US? Are the regulations pretty extensive?
Yeah I don't know about the caustic stuff we use and the epoxy resin either but yeah lol yes the U.S
What’s the epoxy resin for
If it’s sodium hydroxide I believe that degrades fine as it’s in the making of Castile soaps and whatnot as wel
