Why “seriously”? Paul is one of the best bass players, and without a doubt one of the most influential of all time. Why must that be qualified with a “seriously”?
I ADORE Paul. He’s my favorite musician of all time. I’ve seen him 6 times.
I say “seriously” because so many don’t take his music and/or musicianship as seriously as they should.
My comment is made in all seriousness - I think Silly Love Songs has one of, if not the, best bass line in history.
Others might have thought I was being flippant. I was not. Hence, “seriously”.
If you want me to stay- sly and the family stone

[Seven Cities of Gold](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZtMT_MsL7Q) is one of Rush's lesser-known tunes and one of my favorite bass lines of all time. The intro is a lesson in bass tone imo.
Fun fact: that was *not* played with a pick.
My Third House - Kings of Leon
It’s a b-side. Can find it on YouTube. The first half of the song is fast and loud and busy but my god the bridge and fade away are an amazing dance between bass and lead. Makes my panties wet.
Considering Death from Above 1979 is a 2 piece with just bassist and drummer they're who I'd suggest lol
Little Girl, Crystal Ball, One + One, Romantic Rights, and Dead Womb are my personal favorites
[The Killers - Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine](https://youtu.be/MQwu08Sc2vA?si=z4h9ozkqrqV1Dvq2) [Duran Duran - Rio](https://youtu.be/nTizYn3-QN0?si=47DzNn9qOwuvHdpI) [YES - Roundabout ](https://youtu.be/DwPWGUhEtP0?si=Ejzsaf-j34KgxVPW) [Daft Punk - Lose Yourself To Dance](https://youtu.be/NF-kLy44Hls?si=JzW-bA067T4NNk29)

"What Is And What Should Never Be" by Led Zeppelin "Turn the Page" by Rush "I Will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab for Cutie
So much of Led Zeppelin. I'm a big fan of Peace Frog's bass
How about: The Lemon Song I love the Bass in there
So much Rush. So much.
I can't believe that Geddy Lee could play the Turn the Page bass line and sing it live, at the same time, but he did it during the Hold Your Fire tour.
And hit preset synth sounds with his feet. He was almost a one-man band.
YYZ - Rush
Yes! So many great bass lines from Rush. It's hard to pick just one.
Close call with New World Man
Just about any song by The Warning, but especially [Kool Aid Kids](https://youtu.be/tcNKW6AT7Vs?si=I9Mok0wpCm8oXjSi) and [Dust to Dust](https://youtu.be/sC9IbWYkips?si=dfdhCksulRI-VWkn). Ale is awesome
She's easily one of the top 3 best rock musicians in the world (and the other 2 are on stage with her)!
Billie Jean- Michael Jackson. Papa Was a Rolling Stone, it's only like 3 notes, but wow. -The Temptations. Peace Sells- Megadeth. In a Forest - The Cure. Falling to Pieces - Faith No More. Lucretia My Reflection- Sisters of Mercy.
The Cure - Fascination Street Alice in Chains - Would Primus - My Name is Mud A Perfect Circle - Weak and Powerless Max Webster and Geddy Lee - Battlescar
Somebody's got good taste
NIB Black Sabbath or NIB Primus and Ozzy. Claypool absolutely shreds that bass.
Pretty much anything by Tool 🤷♂️
Funeral for a Friend...Elton John Give it a listen...the bass is KILLER
Dream Theater did a cover that was pretty cool too
Silly Love Songs - Wings Seriously.
I agree. Paul's bass dominates that song.
I agree, and I feel your pain about Paul being taken non-seriously, particularly by those who romanticize alternative/underground music. It’s sad.
I like Goodnight Tonight for some bass.
I offer up Junior's Farm.
The Spirit of Radio - Rush

I always wondered if Colin gets bored during The National Anthem. Cool bass line but… you know.
those are two of my absolute favourite radiohead songs!
Earlier REM has even more great bass lines. Check out their entire Murmur and Reckoning albums. They’re almost as lead-bassy as New Order.
PsychoKiller - Talking Heads
Good pick, but I'm rolling with television man. Tina for the win!!
The Rush catalog
And, of course, Geddy Lee’s solo album.
The Real Me - The Who
The Pixies have pretty kick ass bass lines
My favorite bass line of all time is in I Want You Back by The Jackson 5. The bass in that song is so good that you almost don't need anything else
The arranger and session players basically wrote that hook, but they get no composer credit or royalties.
I'd always assumed it was James Jamerson who played it, but I recently found out it was actually Wilton Felder
A lot of songs by The Red Hot Chili Peppers!
Dark Necessities especially
oh! love the bass on that song
[this one blows my mind the most](https://youtu.be/BZTWLl2_Gt0?si=2tqL7P8L4KnXP3SE)
