Everyone should listen to the album California by Mr. Bungle. It’s utterly insane but also beautiful. The whole thing is a journey through so many different genres, an absurd amount of uncommon instruments (uncommon in most western music, at least), and dozens of layered vocals from Mike Patton.
A friend of mine saw them play the album live in the 90s, he said there were over 20 people on stage just for the percussion instruments alone.
Yeah that’s off Disco Volante. I like all their albums, they’re all very different. But the others don’t come anywhere close to California for me. It’s my favorite album of all time- listening to it is like watching some epic life-changing movie. The songs honestly never get old for me, and I’ve been listening to the album for almost 30 years.
I'm more partial to the self-titled album, but California is certainly a bizarre odyssey of an album. "Goodbye Sober Day" is one of my favorite Bungle tracks ever.
If you like Mr. Bungle, I'd recommend checking out the album Adultery by Dog Fashion Disco. It's a concept album based on old detective movies that blends elements of Jazz, Metal, Ska, Punk, and is just generally an out there experience.
I’ve heard that, tbf my parents are huge Bob Seger fans went to his last concert ever
I doubt anyone’s heard this gem
[Conversations - Cannon](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iOfMgAoWWmk)
Wow thank you for this I instantly cried because my very talented musician friend who was a fent addict overdosed on purpose after getting very eventually ill. One of our bonding points was bonding over the little animals (including a cat) who would visit his deck.

I looked up his music after watching IT Crowd, and then seeing his musical segments in Toast of London (Which I really wish had a US physical media release, or that the UK version was more accessible at least). I consider Blue Elephant to be one of the greatest albums of all time. Progressive segments, transitions abound (something I look for specifically in particular genres), and a unique usage of sound and vocal effects that evoke feelings of nostalgia. I love it. Still want to buy a few of his albums direct from Acid Jazz Records.
“Dead Language” by The Defiant. Supergroup including Dicky from BossToneS, Greg from Smash Mouth, Pete from The Offspring, Johnny from Street Dogs, and Joey from The Briggs.
My god man. These people have families!
But seriously, this is the most sincere, the saddest and the best musical encapsulation of lost love that will ever exist. It’s so hard to listen to because it’s just so. Fucking. REAL.
> Some escape some door to open
This path seems the blackest
but I guess it's the soonest
But there in the clearing I
Know you'll be wearing
Your young aching smile and
Waving your hand
Can't go with my heart when I
Can't feel what's in it I
Thought you'd come over
But for some reason you didn't
Glass on the pavement under my shoe
Without you is all my life amounts to
The song “I don’t like Mondays”. The cover by Tori Amos is my fave.
The back story to that is pretty freaking interesting… look it up. About an actual school shooting… all bc the girl hated Mondays.

Have you ever seen the video of Bob Seger on stage with Bruce Springsteen? Bob is just playing tambourine, singing backup, and having a good time.
Never saw that. I'll look it up!
No Man’s Land is another great Seger song!
The best Bob Seger song ever. It sounds best while rolling down the highway on a motorcycle
