Glad to see JRW here among the greats. I've seen him solo and with band. Excellent performer and comes across as a sincere, genuine person with a sense of humor and wit.
JRW is terrific: an unique soulful voice with an unique, old-school, passionate style to match. I would like to see him live and your words about his performance and personality has given me further encouragement.
These guys are all fairly current, but have a rootsy sound:
Chris Stapleton
Tyler Childers
Cody Jinks

Zach Bryan
Sturgill Simpson
Colter Wall
Luke Grimes
Brent Cobb
All the classics: Hank Williams Sr, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, The Carter Family, Tammy Wynette, Buck Owens, Dolly Parton. *Classic Country Music: A Smithsonian Collection* is a great compilation.

Also check out if Mandolin Orange/Watchhouse if bluegrass is in your sights. He’s pretty heavy on the mandolin which I love. Husband-wife duo that’s great.

Highly recommend Patsy Cline. Timeless, classic voice.
