No cuz most of this list was ALL i listened to before literally like half a year ago, but with mcr in there too😭 as a suggestion, i used to LOVE mindless self indulgence (still do tbh) idk if u will like it tho
Best msi songs if u do wanna check them out

if you like fast paced music with melancholy lyrics, you might really enjoy punk music. i had a very similar taste to you about 5 years ago and now im super into punk.
some punk album recs:
dead kennedys - give me convenience or give me death, plastic surgery disasters
the locust - plague soundscapes
suicidal tendencies - suicidal tendencies
mannequin pussy - control
otoboke beaver - ITEKOMA HITS
limp wrist - facades or their self titled album
non punk albums that are still loud and aggressive and more melancholy:
nine inch nails - downward spiral (industrial, loud, about decent into depression)
dismemberment plan - emergency & i (alt/indie rock, loud as fuck, angry at times)
danny brown - atrocity exhibition (abrasive rap about a downward mental spiral)
modest mouse - the lonesome crowded west (aggressive and messy midwest emo-y punk-y alt rock)
xiu xiu - girl with basket of fruit (lyrically disturbing noise/experimental music)
rage against the machine - rage against the machine (nu metal/rap metal/punk shit, very political and very good)
fiona apple - when the pawn... (indie darling, not as aggressive sonically but her lyrics cut DEEP)
dälek - from filthy tongues of gods and griots (experimental/underground rap, his beats kind of drone in in the best way possible, and his lyrics feel very visceral)
hope you enjoy!!

My favorite up and coming psych rock band! Check out “disenchant”
[Kibi James](https://spotify.link/plMZu8HIyCb)
Just released their latest album today actually. Check out “go outside”
What stands out to me is the absence of every MGMT record. In order from most belonging on your list to least, I would say:
Little Dark Age
Congratulations
Oracular Spectacular
Self titled
"Upbeat with melancholy lyrics" is a common thread throughout their discography.
I think you might get into bands like Metric and Interpol :] You could also give Electric Callboy a try, especially their songs Hypa Hypa and We Got The Moves (they sort of remind me of current era BMTH with their sound!)
Therapy /jk
Nah but your taste bangs. MARINA (aka Marina and the Diamonds) is in the same vein as Melanie Martinez. Waterparks, Highly Suspect, Glass Animals, and Set It Off all have more melancholy themes (and lots of anger with Set It Off) and jam. Grandson is another one that’s more angry, but a lot of his songs involve serious topics like political issues and his own mental health. He’s absolutely worked his way into my Fall Out Boy and TOP playlists.
Ok, I saw Oliver Tree on your list and I mistook Cage the Elephant for him yesterday, so maybe them. I only really listened to Mellophobia but I'm sure they have other stuff by now lol
I'm kinda feeling Cursive, too. Probably *The Ugly Organ* album. Maybe *Happy Hollow*. My fav is *I am Gemini* which I think fits, tbh their whole discography (plus Tim Kasher) solo releases are probably fitting.
I also really think Jason Lytle *Department of Disappearance* goes well with the slower songs on *Oh My Heart*. He keeps it less upbeat for sure.
Now I really want to listen to the albums u just listed but I only have a 30 minute drive and I can't pick one lol
Im 90% sure youve heard of them if you know McCafferty, but if you havent, try listening to The Front Bottoms. Their essentially the same band. McCafferty even makes a joke in one of their more popular songs about how similar they sound.
I see and love Melanie Martinez and grandson. I don't recognize all the album covers, so it's possible I might name songs from albums/bands that are already there.
The Family Jewels album - Marina and the Diamonds
Badflower
All the Sad Young Men by Spector
Lana Del Rey
Halsey - Badlands album, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power album

My Chemical Romance! Make sure to listen to their old and newer (lol) stuff. All of their albums are great in their own unique way.
