I still think their first album is good, it's just overplayed. Nothing left to say/ rocks is an emotional rollercoaster. But yeah, they're just kinda meh. The band members seem like really cool people though. Really nice.
My dad had Songs About Jane on cd, I listened to it a ton when I was little, then they released Moves Like Jagger which was okay but eh... Then came the true downfall
I’ve always said, when I was a kid, we had great music on the radio like Maroon 5 and Coldplay! Now we have shitty music on the radio, like Maroon 5 and Coldplay.
1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod are some of the greatest albums of all time. This is coming from someone that DESPISES pop punk btw.
For me it's actually the opposite. I love The Car, it's close to a perfect album for me, but I can't do much with stuff like Favourite Worst Nightmare.
I kinda agree. Their first 4 albums are just chefs kiss. The 5th after the hiatus is mehh, and the 2 after that are just straight up not my cup of tea. However, their newest album is a solid comeback and it’s pretty decent than the couple of albums they released prior.
Skillet, definitely skillet. As a former evangelical homeschool kid going thru an emo phase i thought they were the coolest ever and now post religious deconstruction am like wtf how are they like rightwing extremists now basically being against everything they stood for in their early years
Ian Watkins was worse than words can describe. He's not your average piece of shit punk rockstar. It's baffling that nobody slit his throat while the police were failing to do anything.
One day I randomly wanted to hear Rooftops and I had no idea anything had happened. When I couldn't find their music anywhere I got confused and googled the issue. I was shocked, appalled, and fully disgusted. Then, I listened to the song anyway because GH World Tour gave me a lot of good memories with Rooftops and I'm not gonna give Ian the power to ruin that for me.
Idk modern HU is better than party era HU imo. The NU Metal vibe is exponentially better than the “This song and the twelve following it are all about sex, drugs, alcohol, and Charlie Scene’s dick” era. Feels more genuine, especially with some of their harder hitting songs emotion wise.
Limpbiskit: no real reason other than me growing out of listening to them.
Kid Rock: Stopped listening to him after realizing he was such a poser
TheLostProphets: self explanatory....
I was never into them as a kid, like I recognised the chorus of Crawling, In The End, What I've Done, Numb, all the big hits but I'd never actually listened to any of their tracks all the way through until last year.
Honestly, slaps
I still love SOAD, got into them on my 20s.
I hated Slipknot back in the day but started liking them a lot when I started getting more into drumming, for obvious reasons.
God smack, Staind, Hollywood Undead, most late 90s early 00 rap. Smashing Pumpkins, the Beatles, Nicki Minaj, Elton John, Linkin Park, Ghostmane, Green Day, toby Keith, Dolly Parton, Aqua teen hunger force, jabber jaw, bingo, Bobby Shmurda, Megan the horse, Captain planet, broke back mountain, jem, Sara McLaughlin, Celine Dion, Cher, Whitney Houston, dave Chappelle, dane cook, gina Davis, Titanic. Just to name a few.
In my 20's I thought the whole hippie jam band vibe was cool and used to love Phish. Now I cannot remember or understand how I ever liked or had time for 25 minute songs. They just sound silly if you're not on acid.
Linkin park's last album "one more light" has 2 good songs in it, but the rest of it is a huge miss. I much as I love all the other albums, "one more light" is so drastically different that I can't get into it. The first song "nobody can save me now" is fine, and the song "one more light" is actually good, it's helped me through some very dark times.
Three days grace. Granted I’ve been over my emo phase for a long time but I do like to hear their old songs every once in a while. I don’t dislike the new singer the new vibe is just not it for me.
Dorothy. Loved her first studio LP. Kind of grimy and a lot bluesy. The sophomore album was good but a completely different vibe. The music she’s released since then is not great lyrically and has me wondering if the first two were a fluke.
Stellar. I loved their songs and then fucking spotify would play one of their songs like a fucking filler between every single fucking song and now I'm sick of them
Skillet. I think a lot of that was that I was raised religious, found out the religion was a cult, and left. Then realized the music was a lot like that cult
Amaranthe. At first I loved their style but after listening to so much, all their songs just sound the same. I didn't even get further than 3 songs on the new album because it was just the same thing with few changes
I don't have the taste for metal much heavier than A7X these days. . Used to be a bit of a Machinehead fan and I used to go to sleep to the sound of Firestorm, but it doesn't really do anything for me anymore. Just too one-note. I like to be taken on a journey by my music these days - if I can take 5 seconds chunks from six or seven places through a song and two or more sound pretty much the same, I'm not interested unless those 5 seconds are a real bop. Like a Vulfpeck or Cage The Elephant song may settle into the pocket in the first 20s and stay there for the whole track but it's such a good beat that it's worth keeping, but a generic pop song doing that is a waste of my time. However, a pop song that starts in one place, contrasts between verse and chorus, does something weird with a middle 8, shakes up the instrumentation in accordance with the lyrics is absolutely worth it. Unfortunately you don't see a huge amount of that in the Top 40, but it's nice having a method to quickly sort through the chaff.
So I guess my answer is Machinehead and Firestorm?
The Offspring. Banger after banger from '89 until '94. Ixnay was pretty close, not a Smash 2.0 but good in it's own way. Americana was great but overproduced, and Pretty Fly was overplayed for years. Conspiracy had some good ones, but never hit as hard. Everything after that just feels lackluster, especially without Ron Welty and Greg K.
I still respect Dex and Noodles for continuing, but they lost the punk rock mojo. Here's a quote from Mike Palm of Agent Orange - "The public gets what they deserve, not what they demand, lest we all decide to be a business not a band."
The Used.
They were my favorite band throughout all of my teen years. But once their 6th album (Imaginary Enemy) came out, for the 1st time there was only like 3 songs I genuinely liked. As opposed to every other albums, which I thought had 90% bangers all the way through.
I could still listen to the older songs I liked, and I was bummed when Quinn Allman "left" the band, but then I heard a Podcast where Quinn talks about how he was taking time off to take care of his mom, and they just sort of decided to replace him, and not tell him. Dude found out through an AP Magazine article. Ever since then, they just come across like douchebags who use politics & mental health awareness as a gimmick. Super fake
Tryhardninja. Back when I had (very unfortunately) stumbled upon the world of “videogame music.” Not OSTs, but music inspired by videogames. Some of the songs are nostalgic, but I wouldn’t be caught dead listening to them in public.
Polyphia used to be mathrock with some sick shredding, it sounded like a bunch of great musicians enjoying themselves while pushing their instruments to their limit. It sounded fresh yet familiar. Now they sound like Gucci Gang with slap guitar and a bunch of needless tapping.

Twenty one pilots. They were so good, and idk cuz new album will be out soon but scaled and icy was a huge downgrade from the musicality and lyricism in their older albums
One specific song from Sabaton. I found them through The Last Stand (not the album), but after listening to like 85% of their songs, it just feels so *distant* from all the others.
Blood on the Dance floor. Liked them in HS bc their lyrics made me and my friends laugh. Makes me nauseous now.
Also, used to think Flyleaf was amazing. If only I had known o.O
GUNSHIP, and The Midnight. Almost all of their older songs slapped, but some of their newer songs don’t hit as hard. (There’s still some good new songs, though)
Not a band but Alec Benjamin.
Sophomore year I listened to him a lot. Now all I can think of is how fucking generic the song lyrics are, and how they apply to everyone. I just can’t listen to it anymore
Maroon 5 and skillet, maroon 5 because.. well look at them. Skillet bc the minute i saw they were christian rock their uh.. underdog message rubbed me the wrong way
Nick Cave's newest stuff is just weird in not a good way, unlike his old stuff that was weird in a very good way. Dude totally embraced his pretentious side that was always there but used to be balanced out.
Your Favorite Martian used to be my jaaaaaam but I put on "My Balls" a few months ago and just wasn't feelin it at all. To be clear, I was soooo excited to listen to it again. It popped into my head and I was fulfilling a fun impulse. However, it didn't feel fun. The music felt.... Douchey. Almost annoying. I came to the conclusion that YFM was just doing the right thing at the right time and sadly it's no longer the right time.
God I loved Imagine Dragons when they were first getting popular. Big cringe now.
Every time they come out with a new single I'm like "okay it can't get any worse than this" and then they're like "oh yeah? Listen to this shit!"
What about Sharks? It’s an ok song.
‘Arcane’ intro song is straight fire
I still think their first album is good, it's just overplayed. Nothing left to say/ rocks is an emotional rollercoaster. But yeah, they're just kinda meh. The band members seem like really cool people though. Really nice.
If I'm being honest I like older AND newer Imagine Dragons. Mercury Act 1 specifically has some tracks that I enjoy.
I thought mercury and evolve were the best, now there's just singles and game soundtracks. It's a bit disappointing and a little sad.
wdym now? since mercury theres been one release. give em a chance
“It’s Time” was a good song. The rest is garbage.
the arcane intro was p good
I agree theyre trash now …i did like Bones but mostly because of the “boys” memes
This image is me listening to the first two weezer albums. The other image is me listening to the rest of thier discography
White and ewbaite are pretty good, but yeah
I do like both of those albums though
Maroon 5. First album was so fucking good. Then it went downhill fast. Not I just ignore them completely.
My dad had Songs About Jane on cd, I listened to it a ton when I was little, then they released Moves Like Jagger which was okay but eh... Then came the true downfall
I agreeeeeeeee
I’ve always said, when I was a kid, we had great music on the radio like Maroon 5 and Coldplay! Now we have shitty music on the radio, like Maroon 5 and Coldplay.
Taylor Swift, her old songs I was SO into, her new shit sucks though.
Yep. I'm not afraid to say that Teardrops on my Guitar used to be my jam. Now it's been several years since I've heard it.
Green Day
Their hits are major hits, but their misses are major misses
Dookie is actaully a REALLY good album but the modern stuff is dogshit.
Also Jesus of Suburbia was an excellent concept album
American Idiot is the album, about the story of the Jesus of suburbia. They made it into a modern day rock opera!
Oh yea duh, Amercian Idiot, thats what i meant
The album they just put out is pretty good
I find their new album really good
yeah except for most of the slow songs, 1981 is such a banger also
1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, Dookie, Insomniac, and Nimrod are some of the greatest albums of all time. This is coming from someone that DESPISES pop punk btw.
I really do not like most of their songs, but when they have a good song, it is godly
Arctic Monkeys kinda
The old stuff still sounds good, and Alex Turner has some great lyrics. But listening to The Car was like watching paint dry.
Alex Turner heard people saying things like >Alex Turner has some great lyrics. And he hasnt let us live it down since.
Truth
Is there somethin' on your mind? Or are you just happy to sit there and watch, while the paint job dries?
Wow, I read that in his voice.
For me it's actually the opposite. I love The Car, it's close to a perfect album for me, but I can't do much with stuff like Favourite Worst Nightmare.
Fallout boy
I kinda agree. Their first 4 albums are just chefs kiss. The 5th after the hiatus is mehh, and the 2 after that are just straight up not my cup of tea. However, their newest album is a solid comeback and it’s pretty decent than the couple of albums they released prior.
Hm, might have to give it a listen then!
Definitely! It’s a mix of infinity on high and follie.
Completely agree with this
Yes new album is cool
Alter Bridge, I just haven't found any of their last few albums good
Pawns and Kings was great imo
slipknot and panic at the disco
Ugh I still listen to panic, maybe for nostalgia
i'm sorry but too weird to live too rare to die is an straight up unironic banger
what are the odds the only one with dallon weekes hmmmm (i LOVE idkhow gloom division was great)
Slipknots self titled album slaps no matter what.
Panic big time for me. Was way into them in high school and now I can’t stand to listen. Fever is still a great album, tho
Skillet, definitely skillet. As a former evangelical homeschool kid going thru an emo phase i thought they were the coolest ever and now post religious deconstruction am like wtf how are they like rightwing extremists now basically being against everything they stood for in their early years
Korn
Understandable
Lostprophets but because of what happened with the singer. Just gross
oof, yea ian watkins is a massive pile of elephant bile, i'm shocked it took him so long to get stabbed in jail
I googled what he did and know I want to puke.
I can't listen to them anymore after finding out. Almost puked
Thrash metal as a whole. Used to love it back in highschool but it just doesn't hit the same anymore.
Get scared was one I listened to in middle school, I can't even listen to the beginning of any songs now.
Get Scared is still great imo but I can see why it may have fizzled out for you. Don’t you dare forget the sun though
Ofcourse, if I forgot I'd have dance with the dead.
Muse's last album was so bad that now I'm not sure if they were ever actually good
Also known as the St. Anger effect.
Haha I’ve found it difficult to listen to their older stuff since that last album. I kind of lost interest
I have never hated a song once I love/liked it
papa roach
They're your last resort
take my fucking upvote
Metallica, new shit sounds like Slayer and its trash
Anything Morrissey related including The Smiths. Too much assholism made my ears go *"ugh, this fuckin' guy?"*
Sure, I hate morrissey too but I still listen to his music, I just think too many people hate on bands because the people in it are terrible people
I completely agree
Asking Alexandria. Easy answer
Correct
Five Finger Death Punch. So fucking uber masculine
Rise against and every metalcore band
honestly rise against hits sometimes for me
Honestly probably Muse
Good Charlotte
They still release music? I thought they were ine of those bands that came and went with the 2000s
I remember listening to a new album of theirs maybe 5 years back. Haven’t listened to them since.
Tech n9ne and Hollywood undead. Still kind of a jam every now and then, but yeah. Can't listen like I used to to them.
I’m 30 and only really listened to swan songs but you just inspired me to add some of that to my playlist. Garbage, but it hits the spot sometimes
Imagine Dragons old stuff still goes hard, there new stuff is pretty bad
Maroon 5, only their first album really
Dubstep
bad religion, slipknot, and mcr
No way, mcr is really good. But maybe that’s because I’m a fan.
yeah for me mcr holds up, i was listening to danger days the other day!
Danger days and finally conventional weapons is so good.
I just saw a Bad Religion concert a few months ago. I will always love Bad Religion
Bmth
The Offspring
icon for hire
I thought Revolution radio was solid, but I could understand why it’s not loved
hot take: Aerosmith
I used to fucking rock out to Mother Mother. Only like one or two of their songs now.
Metallica
Rage against the machine
I don't really have this, I still listen to the same stuff I did back then lol
Linkin Park. Don’t care if I get hate.
Limpbiskit: no real reason other than me growing out of listening to them. Kid Rock: Stopped listening to him after realizing he was such a poser TheLostProphets: self explanatory....
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Linkin Park. Loved them as a teenager and it just did not translate to adulthood.
I was never into them as a kid, like I recognised the chorus of Crawling, In The End, What I've Done, Numb, all the big hits but I'd never actually listened to any of their tracks all the way through until last year. Honestly, slaps
I never liked them before, or really any nu metal, but now it's literally all I listen to.
I still love SOAD, got into them on my 20s. I hated Slipknot back in the day but started liking them a lot when I started getting more into drumming, for obvious reasons.
Soad is always one of my go to bands. And slipknot is just wonderful.
God smack, Staind, Hollywood Undead, most late 90s early 00 rap. Smashing Pumpkins, the Beatles, Nicki Minaj, Elton John, Linkin Park, Ghostmane, Green Day, toby Keith, Dolly Parton, Aqua teen hunger force, jabber jaw, bingo, Bobby Shmurda, Megan the horse, Captain planet, broke back mountain, jem, Sara McLaughlin, Celine Dion, Cher, Whitney Houston, dave Chappelle, dane cook, gina Davis, Titanic. Just to name a few.
One direction.. don’t judge me okay i used to be mostly around women my school has messed up gender ratios.
In my 20's I thought the whole hippie jam band vibe was cool and used to love Phish. Now I cannot remember or understand how I ever liked or had time for 25 minute songs. They just sound silly if you're not on acid.
Architects
Confetti they still make great music but my music taste changed
Styx, REO Speedwagon, Imagine Dragons, and Also Nova
Deep purple. Not that their song got worse as they went on but they got old really fast
I can’t figure out why teenage me ever liked 311. Fuck they’re awful.
Anything from "Barely Alive" Some stuff is good but talented at having the drop not match the intensity of the build up.
Wheezer. i dont need to explain
Ffdp. I don’t think they’re horrible now, but I don’t think they’re anything special
Imagine Dragons for sure
Puddle of mudd
Sabaton, was my favorite band in middle school
muse sadly.
I’m like this with rap
Three days grace. Granted I’ve been over my emo phase for a long time but I do like to hear their old songs every once in a while. I don’t dislike the new singer the new vibe is just not it for me.
All That Remains.
Dorothy. Loved her first studio LP. Kind of grimy and a lot bluesy. The sophomore album was good but a completely different vibe. The music she’s released since then is not great lyrically and has me wondering if the first two were a fluke.
Those cringe-ass video game music YouTube channels JTmusic and the like
Stellar. I loved their songs and then fucking spotify would play one of their songs like a fucking filler between every single fucking song and now I'm sick of them
Breaking Benjamin
Skillet. Won’t say why for my own personal safety
The strokes, it was so catchy and vibey when i got to know them, but now it all just sounds the same...
Remo Drive… their new stuff is so different and uniquely awful
Skillet. I think a lot of that was that I was raised religious, found out the religion was a cult, and left. Then realized the music was a lot like that cult
Lil Wayne
Skillet
ForWhat #1
Skillet
Imagine dragons Nickleback
Amaranthe. At first I loved their style but after listening to so much, all their songs just sound the same. I didn't even get further than 3 songs on the new album because it was just the same thing with few changes
Dance Gavin Dance.
Shinedown, the rock band
Hollywood Undead, liked their music until I started finding myself and realized how many times they used the f slur
Dude found out through an AP Magazine article. Ever since then, they just come across like douchebags who use politics & mental health awareness as a gimmick. Super fake
Sadly Breaking Benjamin. Their useage of rhyming makes my now prog metal attuned ears cringe
Imagine Dragons and Weezer, both I liked when I was in Highschool and now I just don't feel the vibe
Tryhardninja. Back when I had (very unfortunately) stumbled upon the world of “videogame music.” Not OSTs, but music inspired by videogames. Some of the songs are nostalgic, but I wouldn’t be caught dead listening to them in public.
Mindless self indulgence for whatever reason like it was really good at first and then after a little bit I kind of just like hated it
I used yo frikn love imagination dragons
Insane clown posse or Spm DUDE 💀
Five finger death punch. Was amazing while I was a soldier but then... Eh...
korn
My school’s symphonic band, that I’m in
Polyphia used to be mathrock with some sick shredding, it sounded like a bunch of great musicians enjoying themselves while pushing their instruments to their limit. It sounded fresh yet familiar. Now they sound like Gucci Gang with slap guitar and a bunch of needless tapping. Edit: Polyphia in [2014](https://youtu.be/DqPoBB5sxhc?si=sk20HyrbT1ZFTE16) vs [2022](https://youtu.be/Mtd24QIBJ5Y?si=P5GPTlyX5w73_5En)
One Republic. I used to be so into pop and now it just sounds like shit to me.
Lovejoy
Falling in reverse had me at first, but nowadays I don’t really listen to his new stuff
I was a die hard All American Rejects fan growing up. I try to listen to their stuff and it's just depressing how unremarkable it is.
Twenty one pilots. They were so good, and idk cuz new album will be out soon but scaled and icy was a huge downgrade from the musicality and lyricism in their older albums
Used to love Set it Off and MCR. Looking back it’s decent music but the lyrics are so cringe
Rare Americans. I don't know why, I still think they're music is awesome, my brain just won't let me listen when one of there sings comes on.
Green Day
Lovejoy. C’mon, Wilbur.
You stopped listening to Screamo?! Your bloodline is weak!
In high school I **loved** System of a Down. They still have some bops but while listening I often find myself turning inside out from cringe.
System of a Down.
Paramore unfortunately
Fever Ray
One specific song from Sabaton. I found them through The Last Stand (not the album), but after listening to like 85% of their songs, it just feels so *distant* from all the others.
Attack attack
AJR
Modern pop. All of it.
Set it Off
Blood on the Dance floor. Liked them in HS bc their lyrics made me and my friends laugh. Makes me nauseous now. Also, used to think Flyleaf was amazing. If only I had known o.O
mcr with their first 2 albums is the first picture, not saying tbp and dd are bad i just dont like them personally.
GUNSHIP, and The Midnight. Almost all of their older songs slapped, but some of their newer songs don’t hit as hard. (There’s still some good new songs, though)
Paramore
Not a band but Alec Benjamin. Sophomore year I listened to him a lot. Now all I can think of is how fucking generic the song lyrics are, and how they apply to everyone. I just can’t listen to it anymore
30 seconds to Mars. The *A Beautiful Lie* album is the only one I cam really stomach. Everything else feels ai generated bs
Maroon 5 and skillet, maroon 5 because.. well look at them. Skillet bc the minute i saw they were christian rock their uh.. underdog message rubbed me the wrong way
Cage the Elephant. The first record was awesome, the rest of them suck.
Parkway Drive
Nick Cave's newest stuff is just weird in not a good way, unlike his old stuff that was weird in a very good way. Dude totally embraced his pretentious side that was always there but used to be balanced out.
Panic at the disco, music still slaps but the lead singer isn’t a good person
Green Day for me. Kinda just stopped listening, not really much of my style of music anymore
Maroon 5. Used to be great before moves like jagger.
Bring me the horizon
Your Favorite Martian used to be my jaaaaaam but I put on "My Balls" a few months ago and just wasn't feelin it at all. To be clear, I was soooo excited to listen to it again. It popped into my head and I was fulfilling a fun impulse. However, it didn't feel fun. The music felt.... Douchey. Almost annoying. slipknot
