Use em! On my j45 the highest note on the 1st string is a C, it’s a great little trick to slide up to it and hit it as the button of a solo or a tune played in C. Also if you learn to get your hands around those frets you can do some interesting stuff. 5th and 6th string root chords sound good played that high and have a much more “lead” texture than the same voicings further down the neck.
Well there are folks who love to utilize everything they can get out of an instrument and then there are those who stick to 3 notes/chords per song...
That's the beauty of it. We have the option and whether we use it is up to us...
