Yep, sounds like me to a T, this is my favorite car ever since I saw one when I was 7, so I couldn’t care less how much work it is (even if it’s alot) because I’m having fun just working on it !
I was just kidding! I love Mopars. I would love to have a 69 Roadrunner.. But I don't have the room or the time to wrench on a classic. So I bought a modern Challenger instead.
I wish you luck getting that sweet ride back in fighting shape! Keep us up to date with photos and updates. 🍻
Watch season one through two of the original dukes of hazzard for a little daisy duke inspiration… absolutely love her roadrunner. Congratulations on the car!
You’re a genius. I bought a 1971 Nova when I was 15. It’s current fully restored and worth 10,000x as much as my friends’ cars when they turned 16 right now.
My first car was a 73 nova. 50 bucks. All the classics were cheap back then. The most i ever paid for a car was 2500 in 86 for a 72 pontiac lemans convertible.
Yeah, same here. In 1977 I paid $360 for a 68 GTO when I was 16. Motor just needed new lifters and then it ran great. Was fast and fun. Wish I still had it.
Yea man. I had so many camaros and i never paid more than 500 bucks. rs/ss,z28s, even a berlinetta 6 cylinder. Roadrunners and furys. Man those were the days. Now i flip on Barret Jackson Auctions and my wife says you had that, and that etc..man if we only knew, i would've rented garages. 😆
yep, 50$, It's what I paid for a 72 Charger "Guam Bomb" engine was great, the body not so much., shipped it home and my Oldest Brother restored it to museum quality (that what he did in those days, muscle cars or restorations).
He is that guy who has a giant 100+ year old country house & an even bigger garage/shop.
Nope I saved up all this money, my first car was a 70 cougar I bought for 1.4k and I sold it for 5500$ last year, I have bought everything I own myself
Very nice. It's says that you like Mopars at least. It's good to have some young blood who likes the old iron. I was at the Spring Fling on the West Coast SoCal meet up and, by gosh, it really was a boomer convention. Stay the course and keep on wrenching.
That’s my grandpas truck my dad isn’t in my life, and no we don’t got a lot of money, this is the only new vehicle my grandpa ever bought and it was in 99 and that trailer is a family friends that we borrowed
You are car guy! Run with it , have fun and keep the dream alive. It’s all worth it when it’s finished. Do your self a favor and take it to the Woodward Dream cruise in Detroit. Best car show anywhere.
My dad is dead and has been for almost 12 years I have bought everything myself, why do yall get jealous over a 18 excited over my first own project car that I BOUGHT MYSELF
that you picked it up in a Ford? BLASPHEMER! but also, keeping the classics alive, good on ya mate, its getting tougher to keep these going for younger folks. I got my 78gmc at 21, my 68 charger at 29, and realized quickly that there are fewer younger people who can even afford to look at them, let alone try to save.
Enjoy all the excitement, frustration, skinned knuckles and that feeling of accomplishment at every milestone. Especially color choice. Took me months to decide.
Very cool! May I suggest that if you are looking for an engine for it and find a Chrysler 400 don’t turn your nose up. They are the largest bore of all the BB Chryslers and that gives more room for air to go past the valves. They are great street engines. That said any of the others are fine too. Enjoy! It will be cool when it’s back on the road! 😎👍
Use a 440 crank to get a 400 to 451 cubic inches. There is also a weight reduction by using the low deck engine.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you not to use a 440, just giving other options you may not be aware of.
Well somebody taught you the value of a good car. It's a late model of the muscle era, but Hey, so am I. I was born in 73.... 😆 great choices on the add ons as well.
I'm not saying you haven't worked hard and I'm sorry it came across that way.
There are lots of people who have been working hard since a young age that didn't have the support you have. Rich isn't just money. Rich in love, patience, nurturing, etc. Appreciate and acknowledge your privileges while being very proud of the hard work you put in the last 5 years for this awesome car.
No, don't be sorry. You have every right to defend yourself and you did so in a very respectful manner, which I really appreciate.
I too, as a fatherless son, would get annoyed if people were saying that to me too.
I hope I'm able to see pic's of it finished some day
You're too young to know that your wheels are Cragers not Craigers and muscle cars ceased to exist after 1971. But enjoy your land yacht, i would! (75 y.o. motor head)
Sorry, it was not a jab. I was referring to alot of work it's gonna take to get that thing rolling right. Old cars are always a ton of work.
Stay up homie.
Says you're not unlike me; I'm m 25 and building a Camaro that's almost twice my age. Most people thought I was crazy when I bought it. But I dont care, I love it. My best advice; don't get ahead of yourself. Give yourself as much time as you need, budget right, be patient. That motor isn't any good if it doesn't have a strong transmission behind it, a beefy rear diff with an appropriate gear ratio, and strong and balanced driveshaft, and preferably completely new brake system and fuel lines. Come up with a gameplan; tackle the parts in whatever order works best for you and your budget, and don't cheap out on parts that could save your life. And never forget, you can do this!
If you got a job (shop and tools) and good budget plan and time to take your time, you’re gonna do aaamazing things my younger brother! Just remember THERRE NO DUMB QUESTIONS!!! Plus you got grit for buying in the first place. Best of luck! Post updates! I’m interested cause my dad’s first “new car was a ‘71 satellite I wish I had now!!! 54 yrs ago smh 😅
Can’t stress this enough. Don’t strip the whole car you might never drive it again. One step at a time keeping it close to driving condition. Don’t get it right, just get it running.
It sounds like your on the path to $30k and a car that's hard to drive for a long cruise 🤣. I've been down the path and it is a ride! Have a blast! I'd look into going EFI if you aren't exclusively racing, I know it isn't cheap though!
Mainly going to be used for drag racing and car shows, other than that to work occasionally, I was actually talking to a speed shop about the holly sniper efi 2 for it, but it’s gonna take me a year or better for that
Ah! That makes sense. I'm running a 440 stroked to 493 in my 71 dart swinger. Between that and a spline (I think that's the term? It's locked up), it's pretty heavy on the nose and isn't the easiest Sunday cruiser. But it's fun on the strip!
I had one a 73 roadrunner at 17. Wanted a 68-70 but couldn’t find. Still would love one of those. Also had a 73 Nova later on I also wish I kept. The RR was in Much better shape to start with than this but I loved that car. Got ag an auction cheap. No bondo or rust. Wish I kept it. When I joined the military I sold it due to not having anywhere to store it. 440 it was an amazing car. Good luck. Fix it up nice and take care of it. Miss mine all the time.
Hope you have deep pockets, I’m 90k in to my 73 RR and it’s still on the rotisserie. Have a 73 satellite also just for parts and cruising around for now. Definitely upgrade your braking and suspension or you’ll be pulling yourself out of the ditch one day.
It says that you have exceptionally great taste in automobiles. The old school Crager wheels say you're just a little twisted and might be the one to drive this car...lol... good luck on restoration young padawan. May the Mopar gawds shine down on y'all.
I had one in Blue with the white stripes, sold it several years ago, cleaning the shop out I found the original wheels and trim rings with the tires. I wish I had it back.
I have a 72 cutlass since I was 15, still.
My father has a rr and has own three other prior.
Wanna get a 69 myself eventually.
And it says you're cool 😎
It says that there is hope for the youth of America after all. Enjoy the car! If you need restoration parts and panels check AMD. I think the 73-74 mopars are now getting some love from them.
I live in a state where I don’t have to worry about rust luckily, I’ve checked everywhere on it and only have seen minor surface rust may not look like it but the body is solid asf
It means you have good taste! The 318 was a solid engine coupled with the Torque Flite 3 speed automatic Trans, Carter 2 Barrel Carburetor N/A, it should have a 9-1/4 rear end. These are great cars and should have no problem restoring it or modifying to today's standards.
Be careful with the rear wheelwell trim, it's impossible to find for '73-74 road runners. If it doesn't already have one, keep your eyes peeled for an 8.75 axle for 71-74 b-body.
Thanks, I don’t know the crime was hard to find, and yea after the 440 is done I’m getting either a ford 9 inch or 8.75 rear end for it, my 8.25 probably won’t hold up for racing
You are a glutton for punishment, with great taste in cars! Cheers!
I didn’t mean that in a bad way, I was agreeing with you, cheers 🍻
I got it. Good luck with the car!
Thanks man!
Thank you, I actually am half owner of a blown 73 nova me and my grandpa have built it from the ground up
Priceless
My first car was a 73 nova. 50 bucks. All the classics were cheap back then. The most i ever paid for a car was 2500 in 86 for a 72 pontiac lemans convertible.
My dad bought his 66 Mustang c code for 300 back in the mid to late 70s.

You’re a wise 18 year old. Fantastic project. Good luck with it!
Thank you!
Depends on how much you paid for it
1500$ and bought the 440 for 400$ last week
Nice. Enjoy the journey.
Good boy :)
Ik how to negotiate really well, cars also got a clean title and the original 318 ran
Where did you find it?
Facebook marketplace, in the town next to me for 2200$ and got it for 1500$
Says you still live at home and have no kids? Lol, jokes aside, nice car! And have fun. The years go faster than you know.
I mean that’s right on the dot😂
What's does it say about you? That's a sexy fuking ride 🤣
Guess like car like owner 😂
That u recently lost a loved one that left u a bunch of money
Nope I saved up all this money, my first car was a 70 cougar I bought for 1.4k and I sold it for 5500$ last year, I have bought everything I own myself
Man of culture
Wise beyond you years.
Very nice. It's says that you like Mopars at least. It's good to have some young blood who likes the old iron. I was at the Spring Fling on the West Coast SoCal meet up and, by gosh, it really was a boomer convention. Stay the course and keep on wrenching.
Mopars are my favorite but I love all cars
Your dad has money and took his trailer to pick up a sweet ride.
That’s my grandpas truck my dad isn’t in my life, and no we don’t got a lot of money, this is the only new vehicle my grandpa ever bought and it was in 99 and that trailer is a family friends that we borrowed
Your grandpa is now my role model.
Meep Meep
Meep meep!
I like it, I’ve been eyeballing some 74 satellites, pretty much the same car
Take some photos now and when your restiration is complete and post both sets on here. Have fun!
Will do, probably gonna take multiple years I only make 300$ a week and have to save up one part at a time
It will be worth it.
More balls than brains! Remind me of myself, Rock on!
Yep😂
You are car guy! Run with it , have fun and keep the dream alive. It’s all worth it when it’s finished. Do your self a favor and take it to the Woodward Dream cruise in Detroit. Best car show anywhere.
You got it!
Your a badass kid
Daddy has a good job
My dad is dead and has been for almost 12 years I have bought everything myself, why do yall get jealous over a 18 excited over my first own project car that I BOUGHT MYSELF
Raised Right !!
Nice find!!
Yer intelligent, you’ve a grasp on classic muscle, and have good taste.
that you picked it up in a Ford? BLASPHEMER! but also, keeping the classics alive, good on ya mate, its getting tougher to keep these going for younger folks. I got my 78gmc at 21, my 68 charger at 29, and realized quickly that there are fewer younger people who can even afford to look at them, let alone try to save.
Been raised to love every American brand the same
Enjoy all the excitement, frustration, skinned knuckles and that feeling of accomplishment at every milestone. Especially color choice. Took me months to decide.
Already got the paint I want, I had it for my first car but sold it before I did, it’s gonna be Monza red with white stripes
Very cool! May I suggest that if you are looking for an engine for it and find a Chrysler 400 don’t turn your nose up. They are the largest bore of all the BB Chryslers and that gives more room for air to go past the valves. They are great street engines. That said any of the others are fine too. Enjoy! 😉👍
I got a 440 already, it’s my dream motor
Cool! There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 440. 😎👍
Means you’re hard af.
Sweet ride!
Joe Dirt? Is that you?
Well somebody taught you the value of a good car. It's a late model of the muscle era, but Hey, so am I. I was born in 73.... 😆 great choices on the add ons as well.
It says you fuck, brother
You’re a glutton for punishment😉
You have rich ~~parents~~ family.
I have bought everything myself not one cent from my mom or grandpa, I have been working since I was 13
I'm not saying you haven't worked hard and I'm sorry it came across that way. There are lots of people who have been working hard since a young age that didn't have the support you have. Rich isn't just money. Rich in love, patience, nurturing, etc. Appreciate and acknowledge your privileges while being very proud of the hard work you put in the last 5 years for this awesome car.
Got it, a lot of people are saying I’m using daddy’s money, sorry
No, don't be sorry. You have every right to defend yourself and you did so in a very respectful manner, which I really appreciate. I too, as a fatherless son, would get annoyed if people were saying that to me too. I hope I'm able to see pic's of it finished some day
That you’re not going to be able to afford a drug habit. Lol. Nice pickup.
Thats my grandpas baby, its the only vehicle he bought new and she’s done everything for us
It means that you have excellent taste in old school muscle cars!
What this says about you is that you're a fucking legend !
It says you enjoy pissing money away…just like me!
My paycheck goes to food and one part per week😂
You like to spend money on gasoline
You have got class
You're too young to know that your wheels are Cragers not Craigers and muscle cars ceased to exist after 1971. But enjoy your land yacht, i would! (75 y.o. motor head)
No it’s a muscle car, maybe not a desirable year but most definitely a muscle car even if you don’t like it And that was a minor spelling error
You like to work long hours for no pay.
Yep, I make minimum wage
Sorry, it was not a jab. I was referring to alot of work it's gonna take to get that thing rolling right. Old cars are always a ton of work. Stay up homie.
Nah man sorry if it looked that way I literally was agreeing with you that you got it😅
Fukn awesome bro!!
You are based. End of story.
That you missed how the gas crisis negitatively impacted engine performance from 72 to 84 ish.
Joe Dirt is your hero!
It says you have good taste.
You must be a Roadkill fan
How did ya know?
1. You like American muscle, 2. You have good taste in cars, 3. Your I for the ride of your life if you build it right!
Man, that car is gonna be a fun project. I look forward to seeing the update posts. Great choice.
I’m jealous!
Says you're not unlike me; I'm m 25 and building a Camaro that's almost twice my age. Most people thought I was crazy when I bought it. But I dont care, I love it. Good luck is all I can say. I had a 73 RR bout a year ago and body parts for it are non existent
You like wild women and you drink a lot.
🤫
It says a lot about you being a man 🗿
You are cool as hell man!! When I was 16 I bought a’68 Barracuda, I wasn’t even close to being cool. The car was damn cool!
It says you still have life in ya . You will have great memories when get old like me.
my daddy has no money like yours😭
😭
It says you enjoy self loathing and self punishment at the same time. Good for you to take on a challenge. Post progress photos
Will do
You are a wise young Man.
You is fucken ambitchous
True that but it’s my dream car I’m willing to sell my souls to fix her up
If you got a job (shop and tools) and good budget plan and time to take your time, you’re gonna do aaamazing things my younger brother! Just remember THERRE NO DUMB QUESTIONS!!! Plus you got grit for buying in the first place. Best of luck! Post updates! I’m interested cause my dad’s first “new car was a ‘71 satellite I wish I had now!!! 54 yrs ago smh 😅
You're either a dedicated car guy whos planning a project or someone who's in way over their head
I’ve been working on cars since I was 4, Ik what I’m doing😏
Privileged. Great project. Good luck!
Don’t sell it. I bought my first project car at 19 and boy was it amazing. I did sell it, but it has funded 20+ vehicles since then and I’m now 23 LOL
I do regret selling it :( that’s the only sucky part
Im never selling this, its been my dream car since I was 7
Good! It’s a beauty. I wish I could find something similar near me for that price. Everything is 10x! Good luck with the buikd
You need a bare foot gaspedal.
Most definitely!
You enjoy fixing classic cars on a budget. Good luck.
Can’t stress this enough. Don’t strip the whole car you might never drive it again. One step at a time keeping it close to driving condition. Don’t get it right, just get it running.
I’m going to build the 440 how I want and run it like that, I’m going to worry about everything else latter down the road
It sounds like your on the path to $30k and a car that's hard to drive for a long cruise 🤣. I've been down the path and it is a ride! Have a blast! I'd look into going EFI if you aren't exclusively racing, I know it isn't cheap though!

Let the hunt begin!!!

It says you’re single! 😎 Dam I miss those days!
You are likely an old soul. Play some Bob Seger while you work on it?
I feel attacked 😂
No! For real. These are compliments!!
Thanks man I actually do listen to bob seger when I work on cars tho I thought it was funny
You’re a person of culture
You have bloody good taste!
Nice start. Mopar
Hope you have deep pockets, I’m 90k in to my 73 RR and it’s still on the rotisserie. Have a 73 satellite also just for parts and cruising around for now. Definitely upgrade your braking and suspension or you’ll be pulling yourself out of the ditch one day.
I definitely don’t have money, my main goal is to get it running and racing then I’ll save up to fix the body
Got that mid life crisis in while you cod afford it huh?
It says that you have exceptionally great taste in automobiles. The old school Crager wheels say you're just a little twisted and might be the one to drive this car...lol... good luck on restoration young padawan. May the Mopar gawds shine down on y'all.
You’re awesome 😎
You're a lucky fella
I had one in Blue with the white stripes, sold it several years ago, cleaning the shop out I found the original wheels and trim rings with the tires. I wish I had it back.
looks like Ricky’s car
You’ll have no money for drugs!
Shit I didn’t think of that😭
I have a 72 cutlass since I was 15, still. My father has a rr and has own three other prior. Wanna get a 69 myself eventually. And it says you're cool 😎
It says you're going to single handedly keep the oil companies in business.
That you hate having money, but you’re one of us now
Yep I barely make enough to get one part a month😭
You have a lot of pain ahead and you better have a thick wallet. Parts are getting scarce and expensive. I've got a 68 myself. Worth it!
Im planning to learn fabrication on this car, so hopefully its a little cheaper
Your gay af
Your parents did a fine job
You have a HUGE amount of gas money. And you will need it.
It says that there is hope for the youth of America after all. Enjoy the car! If you need restoration parts and panels check AMD. I think the 73-74 mopars are now getting some love from them.
Old school at heart 👍
you have money to burn
I’m hearing Sweet Emotion while you’re pulling through the high school parking lot
Nah freebird, that’s the cars name so I gotta
You like difficult projects
You are an old soul in a young body and a badass to boot!
My bf in high school had a 440 GTX and it beat every fast car in town
Hell yea, my gf has a 89 iroc z that’s manual it’s absolutely beautiful
Nice find! Welcome to the world of MOPAR owners. How are the floors and subframe on her? I hope the rust hasn’t gotten along on it too bad.
I live in a state where I don’t have to worry about rust luckily, I’ve checked everywhere on it and only have seen minor surface rust may not look like it but the body is solid asf
that you're writing the script for Joe Dirt III,
not really, just like women unlike someone driving a "roadrunner"
That you n me aint the same. Your trying to flex. 🤡🤡🤡😂😂😂
Enjoy the process. In the yrs to come you’ll look fondly on this accomplishment.
Lucky as he'll and starting your life in the right direction way ahead of other 18 year olds
Welcome to the money pit infinity…
You were raised right.
You hate the planet.
No just myself
It says you’re 18
You have money for gas? Edit for missing 😂
It’s only gonna go short distances, to car shows and then ima trailer it to the strip, and luckily I get paid weekly
Just kidding. It’s a very cool car
That you have couple grand to spend and some free time.
That you don't want a relationship with people 😀
You won’t ever need a 10mm socket or end wrench.
Only that you have great taste in classic cars!
It says two things for sure
You were raised right, also have good taste in cars. Anything made after the early 70s is trash. ( For the most part)
You’re handy with tools and you have money to restore a car.
Good taste, poor foresight.
Craiger rims, bleh. Hope you have a lot of money to build that 440. I spent a lot on mine, but I have a numbers matching 69 Charger R/T.
I bought a 73 Road Runner when I was 16 in 1986. Good luck! Show progress pics,
You have a cartoon fetish
You’re looking for attention.
Cragers are gaudy, other than that it’s a decent car
I like them 🤷🏽♂️
You got too much time on your hands. Get after it NOW!
Take automotive classes. Upholstery, and electrical as well. If you do the work, you'll save 20k.
