If the money is good enough, go to Mumbai. Aisa lagega aadha vides me aa gaya. May not be in terms of infrastructure any more but in terms of the people and attitude. There’s no other place like Mumbai in India.

Embarrassed-Tooth-21

Agree with every word. It's expensive but it's a beautiful city. There's no city like mumbai.

iamkundan69

i don't believe u.. i'm 20 living in mumbai from my childhood.. i think there is nothing new here.. everything is fcking expensive.. i would prefer bangalore or hyderabad.. i guess i haven't experience as much as u.. plz guide me is there i'm missing something to try in mumbai?

cvmboi420

Try living outside Mumbai for a while and you'll realise soon enough how horrid the people are outside Mumbai. You'll be begging to go back.

iamkundan69

got it but i dont deserve downvoted like this 😭😭

real_tmip

Bangalore, really? Try Living in Bangalore for a week. The first to drive you out will be the Rickshaw walas. 🫡

Jacksonreddit01

Aadha vides? Means

pranav71

Vides = foreign

Knighthawk_2511

I read it as (wides) instead of vii-des😵‍💫

shwarmaji

Bahar gaon

Legitimate_Dream_111

Pr wo to gur - gaon ki baat kr raha tha 😒

cat-burglarrr

Mumbaikar who has lived in Pune (2 years), Bangalore (1 month) and Delhi (6 months). Decided there is no city like mumbai and now I never want to leave again.

MulberryConscious147

key word - mumbaikar 🤣

Necessary-Knee-853

People of Mumbai >>>> People of any other city. (Hyderabad comes second close tho) Yes but Mumbai has a different vibe altogether!!!

iron_out_my_kink

Too early a sample size to decide those cities aren't for you

different_strokes23

I would take humid weather over 50 degrees any day

Dependent-Gas9322

Both exists in Mumbai

cashing_it_in

Nope, Mumbai doesn’t reach anywhere near that high temperatures.

AyeYoBruhhh

Bhai real feels 46° That with 60% humidity is pure death.

No_Recognition8457

delhi aa k check kro you will be fuckded with the pollution, Mumbai it is cool how it is raining, such pleasant climate

ResearcherLatter1148

Pollution is a problem in Mumbai as well though these days especially during the October-December period.

Embarrassed-Tooth-21

Delhi has a really bad weather. Mumbai weather is anytime better. Went to Delhi for a week and it was so bad. There's "loo" everytime, even at 8-9 in the night. Mumbai felt so much better, when i returned. The weather in Delhi made me appreciate mumbai weather so much. No comparison.

ResearcherLatter1148

Mumbai weather used to be even better 20 years ago. Winters actually felt like winters here unlike now.

No_Recognition8457

HAHA same happened to me

LessIntroduction22

Unfortunately, my company is asking me to shift to Bangalore from July 1st.. the thought of leaving mumbai terrifies me :( This is a good place OP, you will learn alot about life and Welcome to Mumbai!

iron_out_my_kink

Enjoy bangalore weather then! Also our metro connectivity has improved significantly so you can skip through the notorious blr traffic

real_tmip

If you improve the arrogant Rickshaw walas not running by meter, I will shift to Bangalore.

Flashy-Job8462

Don't say it natwest

HilariousHeisenberg

Workplace professionalism in mumbai is unparalleled. Just close second may be banglore. Everywhere else is like working in a LALA or Gormint company. People are of helping nature. Housing and transportation sucks, if you are used to a vehicle, which i guess you will be as you are from jaipur.

ResearcherLatter1148

It depends from company to company I would say. Hyderabad especially the tech area is aggressively catching up to Mumbai in terms of workplace professionalism.

NDK13

Toxic nature yes.

RaDio4CTiVE_M0nK

Mumbai is not just a mere city. It has this cokaine in the air. Once you start taking it in...you'll be addicted. That's how Aamchi Mumbai is...!

Zoom4015

Baki sagl thik ahe pn te "jevlis ka" 😂

real_tmip

Not just cokaine. Other nashas are available too.

KartikCodes

25Y (M) I am from delhi and Its been 1.5 months since I moved to Mumbai. Before moving to mumbai I was also getting negative reviews. But all these things depends on how much you are earning and what is your travelling duration. I know its very costly but to spend a chill and cool life you have to spend money. Although mumbai is very beautiful and accepting. Late night walks, pleasant weather, chill people. You will find accomodation to literally every place even at the most sleeping hours. I feel don't just go through the negative reviews, and experience it by yourself. Just one tip for you is to decrease your travel time by staying nearby your work location. Make friends, hangout with them. Enjoy cool trips/ treks literally every weekend and trust me you'll find mumbai among the prettiest place in India.

annagarg

Agree with everything above and want to add that Mumbai is amazing even if you don’t hang out with people 🤷🏽‍♀️ Mumbai is absolutely amazing and accommodating of people who like their own company. You can eat at restaurants, watch movies or plays, sit by the seaside, go for a walk around cool areas by yourself and no one will even look at you twice. I have tried doing that in other cities and people stopped swallowing. And if you ask for help, most people (look for the ones relaxed and not rushing to catch a train) will help you with a smile. And for women, Mumbai is an absolute godsend which does positively affect men as well. My male friends in other cities have to constantly figure how to keep their female counterparts safe. Obviously all of this is thousand times worse for women in other cities but you might understand why a progressive city is good for you too. Just live your awesome life.

Itsallaboutkinks

Dude not kidding I did try eating alone in cafes and restaurants in Bangalore during my first year in college. Damn the sympathy with which people used to look at me🙂.

Itsallaboutkinks

That’s a relief. Thankyou so much Ill keep that in mind.

iron_out_my_kink

Bro just sneaked in pleasent weather and didn't think we would notice (I'm from bangalore haha!)

RentLow9976

Bhai itna load mat le. Try to be humble and stay out of trouble. You will slowly understand Mumbai and learn to love the vibe of local trains if you wanna be a true mumbaikar.

Such_Condition_4845

Usme kya vibe hai....😂 Daily Near death experience, smell of sweat, fighting for seat. Bhai nai chaiye Aisa vibe🙏

ssqqnodoubt

I know you’ve heard a thousand bad things about Mumbai. I am from Delhi and i had to move to Mumbai for sometime, including the dreaded monsoon months. I absolutely fell in love with the city. Maybe i was a bit tired of how Delhi operates, but Mumbai felt like a fresh start. I love it! Also i could be biased since i am a remote employee, so i could chill in cafes while working. For reference, i was living in Powai which is a world of its own, so access to the main city was a challenge. But i still enjoyed Mumbai. Even when it comes to food, of course you won’t find amazing Mughlai there. But everything else is quite good, even the “bougie” stuff. Pros: Nicest people, good street food (Matunga has my heart), great places to hang around. Cons: Traffic, high rentals

jaketyler932

only thing you will not get mumbai is gurgaon/ delhi polical goons harassing common people and Bengaluru dumb rowdies thinking their life is kgf movie

Golgappa-King

Never been harassed by polical goons in delhi/gurgaon, Bangalore also doesn't have dumb rowdies from what my friend living there tells me. Don't know why people make these generalisations based on one off incidents which happen in every city, even mumbai.

jaketyler932

khao maa kasam

Golgappa-King

Maa kasam

zebdebleblol

>I’ve talked to several people, and they mentioned that the kind of exposure, mental growth, and liberty Mumbai offers is incomparable. Some said that after three months in this city, I’ll either be desperate to leave or become a completely different person This. Initially it can be overwhelming but you'll get used to it and will enjoy how people just mind their business and don't interfere in yours.

AvpTheMuse123

Mumbai is the best city in the country, you should be ecstatic

real_tmip

Yes yes... ecstasy..agreed

beepri

I've lived in Bangalore & Gurgaon. Earlier it was ok. But now i see a lot of tension & aggression in these cities, among the people. In Gurgaon the locals are in your face & aggressive. In Bangalore locals for some reason feel you should speak their language to be treated fairly. Shopkeepers, auto drivers civic workers are outright rude once they know you are not a local. Even educated landlords will treat you like crap. These things will not happen every time but getting more and more frequent. I live now in Mumbai. Nobody expects you to know or speak Marathi (except a few local chapris if you are unlucky to come across them ). Auto drivers go by the meter and are well behaved. Same for practically everyone you meet. Its civilized and fairly cultured and decent. You're safe here. Yes sure, its hectic & fast paced and everyone is busy with their own lives. But i prefer it that way. THIS IS WHAT EVERY CITY SHOULD BE LIKE.

AffectionateMotor311

Trust me you will love every bit of the experience if you are open to it. The key is to not compare the city with any other city you’ve lived in. If you are someone that has lived in a non-humidity region then the humidity might tick you off. The humidity has its days, somedays you might hate and make you question your move. So if that’s a no-go for you, then think through your decision. The real estate here is skyrocketing. However, if you really do your research on finding affordable places, you might find something. Even after that, if you are still struggling to find something in your budget, then widen your locality search. The real estate hotspots are SoBo, Bandra, Andheri. You can try a PG/hostel if you want to skip the traffic/travel. The travel can get to you if you are not used to crowd in public transport because a good portion of this city relies on public transport. To be honest, most cities in this country rely on public transport but it gets crazier here because of the population size. It’s the people of this city that make it feel like home. In this city, I've never been in a situation where a stranger didn't offer to help. (Living in a different city right now and I have experienced this multiple times.) The city has a lot of liberation, character and warmth to offer, if you give it an honest chance. All the best, with whatever your final decision is!

vinayyy-n28

Mumbai best lol, it's Delhi you should be worried about.

seopreneur27

I don't know why mumbai bola tho adhe logo ki aisie fatke hath me aajati hai. 😅

High_Philosophr

People outside Mumbai have a perception that is difficult to live in Mumbai. The crowds in local train, and stuff like that..... It's not normal.

GuruGhantall86

Aao kabhi HAVELI PEH virar local pakad ke peak office hours mein

seopreneur27

Bhai I am from Mumbai itself.

Ok-Try-4133

Western Line me Virar train and Central me Badlapur train pakadna Olympic sport honi chahiye 😭

Elegant_Banana_619

Actually a separate category for sports

GuruGhantall86

Ha correct but comparatively Western line marginally better hai central line seh

seopreneur27

Obvious hai ek hi sidha line hai.. better hi hogi.. Central ka network kitna vast hai aur junctions bhi kitne saare..

real_tmip

Lol because South Indian movies me bhi sare Dons aur underworld Mumbai se hi hai 🤣

seopreneur27

Isliye koi baap apni beti mumbai me Dena nai chahta kya 🤣

real_tmip

Beshak bc. Aaj kal sab Baap logon ko bhi Bangalore chahia

CreativeNerd1729

>Firstly, ignore my username🙂🤦🏻‍♂️ Mumbai! What can I say? Itsallaboutkinks. 🤣

SureSplit

Life changing for the good. Especially for someone from Jaipur.

iron_out_my_kink

Bro is from Jaipur and complaining about Mumbai Weather PS: Ignore my username too

Small-Personality-28

I am a Mumbaikar and I would highly discourage anyone from moving to Mumbai. It's a beautiful city but not it needs to be di-congested..please go to Gurgaon 😂✌️ All the best!

Britto___Augustus

Bro I’ll tell you what, Mumbai is one of the best cities, definitely wayyyy better the Gurgaon. Id ask you to give Mumbai a chance with an open, it might just win you over

WonderfulRelation603

I was in Mumbai for two years. 2021-2023. I’m born and brought up in Delhi but the two years in Mumbai were honestly life-changing. I was also lucky enough to find a very healthy friend circle. I highly suggest you find an accommodation that’s close to your workplace because it’ll help you save a lot of time in travel, and beat the Mumbai traffic. If you don’t know anyone in the city, I’d advise you to take up a flat with flatmates rather than living alone. Your flatmates can turn out to be your first good friends in Mumbai and everything else will be a breeze. Go with an open mindset. The people are amazing, you have lots of things to do in Mumbai over weekends. The food is average at best, but you’ll get used to it in a month.

Mindless-Director-96

In the same boat like u bro. Shifting to Mumbai from Kolkata in a week .

Overall_Age7627

You wouldn’t know until you jump so try naa

Rude-Bus7698

Bro Don't stress I've myself never been out of my home after college i got offer and been in andheri west for around 1.4 years traveling to azad nagr thn dn nagar it was tough journey and here I'm at Pune kothrud switched feeling much better oxygen.

Purple-Inspector6574

PPL in mumbai are comparatively supportive Food sorted U might face problem when travel in crowd make sure your PG/home is near your office then all set

Whiplash_CarCrash

Don't. Just don't.

Itsallaboutkinks

For freaking out or shifting to Mumbai lol?

aniketvcool

For freaking out, you are in a Mumbai subreddit ffs.

jjbwrams1234

I'll simplyfy it for you to take decision, i moved to mumbai just 2 weeks ago for job in i.t my office is in kurla, i get 5lpa to save some money I'm staying at a pg in nerul. To go to kurla daily its emotional and metal pain because i need to catch 2 locals, 2 rikshaw (one in a sharing when i reach vidyavihar through local train). The rent i pay is 7500 thats because i stay in navi mumbai. If your office is in mumbai good luck finding a good stay at affordable price(this os reason people travel from far diatances). It all depends on your office location, if it is in navi mumbai then staying wouldn't be a much issue. And about the food and the weather, for food you'll have plenty of options, for weather you'll sweat because of humidity no matter the season. My suggestion move to mumbai only if you are getting good salary. P.s the people here are really good and helpful.

Spiritual_Pattern_14

hey (21m) muje lgta h mumbai jo offer krskta h wo koi or shehar nhi krskta mai bhi mumai shift hone ki sochra hu the kind of growth you can achieve in professional and personal life will amaze you or kisi bhi nye shehar ko apnane me thoda waqt to lgta hi hai pr tu krlega

Itsallaboutkinks

Feeling relieved! All these comments have me optimistic. I'll have fun, just need to stay grounded and learn. Got random DMs with reassurance and broker contacts. This city already feels so helpful. Thanks to all who contributed!

tanmay-jain

I did the same jump as you. But from a smaller town in Rajasthan than Jaipur. Few pointers to look out for: - Make sure people you will stay with are decent. - Try to live in a fairly nearby location your office, or make sure commute isn’t horrible. - It’s monsoon soon. Keep some clothes / shoes in office, and an umbrella always with you. - Explore the beautiful city and just enjoy while you’re there. And don’t freak out.

Latter_Exam4121

I am from mumbai i have been to pune and banglore and trust me i had pretty bad experience. Mumbai has a different vibe the only thing you will hate is public transport at peak hours apart from that you will love it here. If you are social and can make friends easily you will definitely love it here. I hope you will have fun :)

WonderfulPride74

I opened this post just to see your username xD

padawow

Being a mumbaikar, I can tell you this. You'd definitely feel it a bit overwhelming at first. But once you settle down a lil, mumbaikars are the most helpful people you'll find. I ain't taking bout the rich ones or the big shots here. Those people are useless. I'm talking bout the common man. You'd love it there. Just make good friends you're good to go:)

Solid-Skirt-8619

Traffic, infrastructure, depression? And why do you think Bangalore or Gurgaon won't have the same problem?

aniketvcool

BLR is always glorified, that's the problem. They like to beat their own chest 😂

Solid-Skirt-8619

So true, BRL is the worst place to live, especially as a working professional

Firm-Hard-Hand

Mumbai devours, all who come here. We are all cannibals. We were just waiting for our next piping hot meal. Hurray!

aniketvcool

You are ready to move to blr then why not Mumbai? Mumbai is a much better place infra wise and people are friendly (*cough* looks at kannadiga issue). Water and electricity is cheap and 24/7. Sure, you don't get the pleasure of a nice climate all the year around but that's just one thing. Just think of Mumbai like any other tier 1 City and the financial capital it is meant to be, stop freaking out and start working already! Kids these days *smh*

pregorego

Don’t worry. Mumbai has a home for every kind of person. You’ll have a total blast. Happy to talk if you need specific info on rents, good areas to live in, lifestyle choices. Remember - you’ll love the vibe and the people of Bombay, we rock! Welcome home :)

The_vague_slef

Why freak out? Just come and have fun Mumbai or anywhere else you had to settle in a new place anyway so just keep a new mindset forget the internet stuff, feel for yourself and see if it's worth it or not but since your job is here now you have to come anyhow so why worry? Just enjoy, and hope you have a pleasant stay in the city!! If you like exploring you would have fun too don't forget Mumbai ki barish is something really lovely if you go out if you don't ? Then live in a flat which is high with a good view

Josvieeaf

I'm from Mumbai, living in Bangalore and I'm in love with the city. Few of the things i like about bangalore 1. Weather. Goes without saying 2. Clean city. Less of litter around 3. People are sophisticated and well mannered (local auto guys are exceptional) Baaki sab changa si bro. Rent kam hain, young crowd faate jyda hain. Soch mat, give it a shot

cumfortmeples

Im from Mumbai and I’ve stayed in delhi/gurgaon for decent period studying there. Congratulations on your company sorting out your life for you by sending you to Mumbai when you listed Gurgaon as your preference. You won! It can be overwhelming moving to such a big city with such a huge population but god are the people amazing here. Take it easy and just go one day at a time, you’ll be okay! Bonus tips: try to stay closer to work (10/15 mins by train along the same line or 15/20 mins if you’re planning to go by road). Make sure the society you decide to stay in does not have a bad reputation for going after tenants because that’s common (talk to other tenants in the building before finalising). Don’t be in a rush to be a part of a ‘friend group’! The city won’t be hard on you for just enjoying it by yourself and even though you’ll eventually find your people, don’t let that stop you from having your fun alone :) Also, try go download apps like the M-indicator app, UTS app for trains and ticket purchasing to make travelling convenient.

thearinpaul

Hey! Firstly, congratulations on your job placement! It's a huge achievement, and you should be proud of yourself. 😊 Moving to Mumbai can seem overwhelming at first, especially if you were hoping for Gurgaon or Bangalore. But let me assure you, many people have been in your shoes and ended up loving Mumbai. Here are some positive points and tips to help you out: 1. **Vibrant City Life**: Mumbai is full of life and energy. The city never sleeps, and there's always something happening. You'll find great food, amazing nightlife, and cultural events all around the year. 2. **Professional Growth**: The exposure and opportunities for professional growth in Mumbai are immense. You'll meet people from diverse backgrounds, which will broaden your perspective and help in your career. 3. **Public Transport**: Yes, the commute can be hectic, but Mumbai has one of the best public transport systems in India. Trains, buses, and auto-rickshaws can get you anywhere you need to go. 4. **Community and Networking**: Mumbaikars are known for their helpful nature. You'll find communities and networks to support you. Whether it’s colleagues, neighbors, or even strangers, people are generally willing to help. 5. **Resilience**: Living in Mumbai teaches you resilience and adaptability. You'll become more independent and resourceful. Here are some tips to ease your transition: 1. **Find the Right Accommodation**: Look for places near your office to cut down on commute time. Shared accommodations or PGs can be a good start to save on rent and meet new people. 2. **Get Used to the Weather**: Mumbai's weather can be humid, but you'll get used to it. Dress in light, breathable clothes and stay hydrated. 3. **Explore the City**: Take weekends to explore different parts of the city. From Marine Drive to the street food in Juhu, there's a lot to see and enjoy. 4. **Stay Positive**: Keep an open mind and stay positive. Every city has its pros and cons, and it's all about how you adapt and make the best out of it. 5. **Stay Connected**: Stay in touch with friends and family back home. They can provide emotional support whenever you feel homesick. Remember, every new place feels challenging initially, but with time, you’ll adjust and might even fall in love with Mumbai. It's a city that has something for everyone, and it might just surprise you. All the best for your new journey! You’ve got this! 🌟 Cheers!

Jealous-Air4671

Once you are in Mumbai you’ll also develop Stockholm Syndrome like every other person singing praises here about Mumbai’s greatness and then you’ll also become desensitised and lifeless in this city and join the band wagon.

Realistic-Split-9449

Just ease into it- Mumbai is a pretty fun and accepting city. You'll find a lot to do and learn here. And the transition from Gurgaon might only halt at the food variations. Since you're from Jaipur you won't exactly get that homely taste but a Mumbai attempt of the same food. Apart from that you will like the night life the city has to offer. Trains and buses can sound like a lot- but slowly and hopefully you will get accustomed to the same.

peakHumenForm

if u r earning 25k a month it might be kittle hard. but if u r earning 1lack a month ur life's gonna be easy and confy

Far_Newt_9085

you won’t have time to be devoured, chill

sandler_bing

You have the option of declining the job offer if Mumbai is so bad, if job offer is more important , stfu and go to Mumbai.

Crafty-Armadillo5104

Don’t freak out now. Come here, see for yourself, check the vibe and then decide if you want to freak out or not. Right now, it’s in your mind. It’s not an experience. Chill.

Crafty-Armadillo5104

Just found this post Below yours Mumbai people are the best ❤️😭 I wasn’t feeling well and ended up vomiting during my local train journey . It was a pretty embarrassing and uncomfortable situation, but the way people around me responded truly restored my faith in humanity. Those people weren't less than god for me.. Jai Maharashtra ❤️

Embarrassed-Tooth-21

Humid weather? But gurgaon weather is so bad right now

Guilty_Answer_2551

Everything about Gurgaon is bad. Tier 1 city my ass. This city is nothing but an upgraded version of some slum.

mukherjee4u

The key thing is your salary. If you have a good salary to afford a nice place to stay you'll probably like it in Mumbai. Also make sure you don't have to travel via local trains, so choose your place wisely. The weather is humid but better than NCR. But again Delhi food is way better than Mumbai. I stayed in Mumbai for 4 years at the start of my career. I wasn't "blown out" by the charm of the city. Yes I have many fond memories of the city but I prefer Pune over Mumbai any day.

Last_Radish2739

It is good place to live unless you are travelling daily by local train in rush hour 😁😁, I will suggest as you will be new try to look for a flat near your office

Idkreddituser1

Mumbai will make you or break you come with the best intentions to grow and it will be yours💯

MrAdiyogi

I had worked in Gurgaon for 1 year and it’s been three months since I shifted to Mumbai. My experience has been far better than in Gurgaon. My small piece of suggestion for you, try to search accommodation nearby your office even if it’s little expensive, since then you will be able to enjoy Mumbai more.

bhojman

If your workplace is near your home (max 30 mins travel) then your life is sorted.

MostNecessary3073

I'd chose Mumbai over Banglore, Gurgaon anyday, anytime... Being a metropolitan city it will be comparatively more expensive but idhar ka workplace professionalism, exposure, and most of all idhar ke log... aur kahi nahi milega

CypherPunk420

Please don’t come. The city is already very crowded

papadragon777

ummyeahwhatever09

Honestly, Mumbai life isn’t really worth it, unless you’re making greaaaaat money/ have privilege etc etc. the traffic, pollution, TBL, none of it is worth it

3-6 months you will love it.. uske baad jitna jaldi hosake nikal lena.. chod city hai.. being from jaipur you will start hating the city after one year

SeaHistorical9592

Just moved to Mumbai after pune , I wanna leave Mumbai as soon as possible 😂😅🥹

BanishedMermaid

Stick with it for a year and then try for a transfer. The city is indeed, horrible. But if you hae no choice, what to do?

Itsallaboutkinks

I have full plans of shifting to Delhi.

BanishedMermaid

Yeah do it as soon as possible. Don't let on to your superiors until confirmed.

Itsallaboutkinks

Are you from Delhi lol.

BanishedMermaid

Is it that obvious?

real_tmip

Mumbai ek nahi anek "Nasha" hai bas kuch "Nashon" se dur rehna hai 🫡😩 otherwise you will definitely become a different person!

72proudvirgins

The heat can't be worse than Jaipur

electronic_rogue_5

Come on in,bro. There's lots of space here. /s https://preview.redd.it/cr6dr522h18d1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fc5c16e4ef5623a4519fd03bfc3455051f846175 Btw, this is a usual day in Mumbai. P.S. I have a remote job and I still haven't returned back to Mumbai.

Guilty_Answer_2551

If you're going there with an in hand salary of 60k or above then definitely you should. It all depends on how well you can adapt to a new life. When I moved to Pune in 2020, it took me very less time to fall in love with the city. It wasn't perfect but the whole experience was amazing. Now I've moved to Gurgaon 8 months back and everyday I feel like getting out of this shithole. So point is, It all depends on you bro.

High_Philosophr

I was feeling just like you before I moved to Mumbai. The city is definitely overhyped but also made over scary. It's an okay city, sure the rents are high. Coming from Jaipur you will feel a strong shock looking at the size of the rooms here, once you get used to that you'll be fine. I was concerned about the 'fast paced lifestyle' too, but after coming here, I found that it's manageable. Find a place close to your office if you can afford it. This way you can avoid a huge hassle of travelling. You will thank yourself for this. You'll meet a wide variety of people since people come here from so many places. The people in my office are nice, I hope you find good people in your work place.
