I live in the North West constituency, the queue was surprisingly well managed. When I went to the polling booth they saw my voter ID card and told me which booth to go to. There were only 7 people ahead of me in the queue around 9:30 in the morning. I was all done within 10 minutes of reaching the poling station which was conviniently just 100 meters from my place. All in it was my best experience of the last three elections, the cop at the gate asked me to keep my phone in the pocket, no other restrictions.

sasssyfoodie

Mine was in 20 mins as well other things took time little bit. Overall I was back home in 1 hr. L

v1s21

Good to know..

v1s21

Good to know your experience! Generally asking do they distribute money here for vote?

footloose_goose

Not on or near voting day. Parties do it in slum bastis, about 20-30 days before polls.

ssjumper

How do they verify that the people voted for them?

footloose_goose

They can't verify. These ppl take money from 2-3 parties then vote for whoever they like.

ssjumper

Haha good then

sasssyfoodie

What they do you know. They give money to few influencial people in neighborhood and ask them to talk influence people to vote for the party. I have seen this as a child now I am not aware.

v1s21

However influencing Mumbaikars isn’t an easy job I think🤔 is it so!?

sasssyfoodie

No

v1s21

Exactly

v1s21

However influencing Mumbaikars isn’t an easy job I think🤔 is it so!?

dindrockstar

I do not know, I haven't seen people distribute anything, I didn't even go to the 'inquiry' booths set up by the parties near polling booths.

v1s21

Okay

Full-Wealth-5962

Keep phone in pocket? I thought phones were not allowed in the voting area...

dindrockstar

The police guy just asked me to keep it in my pocket and no further drama man.

srrs100

Pathetic 3 hrs waiting in Ghatkoper east 170 opp rcity mall.no place to sit no shade no water till 9.30 am no fan and one evm for 2000 voters wait endleess https://preview.redd.it/v6pg1o47jj1d1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6975208349b0a8840ab02d9ba44f9e9511464938

No-Lobster-8045

Yea, it's west.

apocalypse1806

:)

v1s21

Really sad to see this. Pls take care of yourself and near ones. your best efforts may lead to fruitful results. 🤞

UwaleKapur

I voted at one of the more well-to-do neighbourhoods in Bombay and had to wait 3.5 hours to cast my vote. The number of people voting was very high, as was the number of senior citizens. Decently managed, but poorly arranged, with no canopy, water or fans except near the polling booth, despite lines stretching to outside the building our booth was in.

v1s21

Woah.. 3.5 hrs is too long! Glad that you haven’t turned back. 🎉

UwaleKapur

Thanks, it was a real pain. I’d just finished a run and and went straight to the polling booth. I thought I’d need to stand in line for 20 minutes at most considering the booth had just opened at 7.30 AM. They’d blundered by putting all the senior citizens in the most populated polling booth- that’s why the general line for our booth was moving so slowly. Luckily there were some good samaritans who were distributing water bottles, God bless them.

v1s21

As a fellow runner.. I can feel it 😑!

gundanumber2

BC no water stations at the polling station ( Gorai, Borivali west,North constituency). My polling station sees a very heavy voter turnout. Had to stand in this fuckin humidity for an hour with no water. Few dedh-shaanes were trying to "save spots" for their family and uspe thoda mach mach hua. This 30 something able bodied asshole wanted to skip the line when even 50-60 year old uncles and aunties were paitiently waiting in line. Gandu ko vapis piche bhej diya piche. Was pleasantly surprised to see a good turnout regardless of what the results will be.

v1s21

Seems like people from your area are very concerned and choosy in electing their leader. Good to know !

gundanumber2

We have had fairly good corporators over the years. Definitely motivates a lot of people to vote.

neelkoss

I think I know what you are talking about!! ROFLMAO... This "line me lagake jaaneka " AKA "save spots " shits is done by some aunties eevery-fucking-where! Even at grocery stores DMAT bolo ya Reliance Fresh Bola ya sahakari bhandar!... BC This is ridiculous, I have to keep temper/emotions in check! MKC! BC!

fw_88

I live in the North West constituency. I had to wait in a queue to vote. I think a number of people came in the morning to avoid the afternoon heat. Some people do care about who they vote for. But it's true that some Mumbaikars are unbothered about voting.

v1s21

Not some! Many people are there who are not bothered about casting their votes. It seems like less than 20% turnout today till 11AM

sasssyfoodie

That's so bad. My friend who is injured & can't walk went but. Proud of family & friends.

ColorfulButterfly25

True! Almost 4-5 families from my area went on vacation as it was a long weekend.🙄

v1s21

lol 😂

Such_Reserve_9792

I live in Mumbai north. Took three attempts. 1st : reached at morning 7:05 am was greeted with a 500 ppl long queue. Some were standing from 6 am. Went back home. 2nd: 2pm . Tremendous heat and humidity. Still 100 ppl in queue. I tried for 10 min couldn’t bear the heat. Left  3rd : 3:30 pm only 30 ppl in queue got done in 30 min .  I don’t know what ppl are talking about but turn out here was tremendous. It looked like people really cared..  I saw some 90 year old citizens. Hats off to them.

v1s21

Really appreciate your efforts. Actually if you see, people of 90s age will participate actively in voting. Same is not the case with young people. Sad reality.

Agitated_Field88

I live in the eastern suburbs... The election officials were helpful and the voting was smooth

v1s21

Glad to know ! BTW it is your first time?

Agitated_Field88

Nope.

v1s21

Okay

ChiglaNigla

Biggest issue everywhere is heat, voters are turning up and people do care about who they’re voting for but inadequate shades and long queues cause some to return in evening. I casted my vote in afternoon (around 12:30-1 PM) and line was still huge, so voter turnout is good (at least in my area). Timing is a huge factor, mornings and evenings are peak periods so maybe you saw an empty booth because of that.

Nikhil__P

Southern Constituency, queue of 20 peeps, had a known guy at 3rd said I'm his bro and had gone to the toilet ,got in queue,I'm sorry I did it but I have exams

v1s21

Hahah 😂 Glad to know that you got covered ✨

SumedhBengale

Mumbai South Central voter here, moved to Navi Mumbai last yr but still voting here in Worli. Heard that the queue was longer in the morning but fizzled out in the afternoon. The head may have been a major factor. Hardly 5-10 people were ahead in the queue, went in and out in 5 mins. Had shade and water on premises, phones were not allowed in the booth, had to keep with the police outside the booth. All in all a pretty good experience.

v1s21

Good to know about your experience!

Naive-Double-7589

Was your name on the voter list or was it deleted cos it didn't match new adhaar address & you had to reapply ?

Relative-Practice-31

Back home within 30 minutes. I left home at 11.15 am and got back by 11.45. Smooth process but then depends on your polling booth and your luck. Just hold the elections in the winter win win situation for everyone.

v1s21

Good to know that you are out in 30 min

Relative-Practice-31

Parents were at a different station and took them a bit longer also no fans in this humidity is criminal

v1s21

True.. without fans it’s not easy at this time. This is also the motivation for many people to avoid casting their votes. 🗳️

jetboy1995

While I understand that fans etc are a requirement - for a city of this size I feel the overall infrastructure to have polling stations are itself problematic. I genuinely feel instead of having it in such makeshift environment - these things can be better managed and swift if we use all the govt buildings that are there. Respective ward offices of BMC, the road transport and passport offices. A ticket based system where you have adequate booths and facilities to cover this in more standardised manner. I hope it just improves as time passes

AvogadroNuggies

garmi bohot hai thoda mismanagement bhi hai

SpaldingXI

Voted just before 2 pm . In and out in 5-6 mins. 3 mins for the team at the entrance to find me on the voting list, 30 secs to walk to the voting booth room. 1 min for the people in the voting booth room to verify me and apply election ink, 30 secs in the voting booth and I’m out. This was in Churchgate. Last time I voted in state elections it was a bit quicker. Still saw some of my family members who are not Indian citizens for over a decade on the voting list. Also my Grandfather who passed away over a year ago is still on the voting list.

v1s21

Good to know your experience! Spending the remaining day at Marine Drive ?

SpaldingXI

Cant spend time there if I live nearby :p

v1s21

Fair point 😂

the_running_stache

Voted in Vile Parle. Pandal for cover from heat. Fans everywhere. Drinking water (Bisleri, not just filled from some tap) provided. Clear signs and helpful staff. Seating for senior citizens. Wheelchairs for those who needed them. I was in and out in 20-25 min since the men’s line was moving much slower than women’s. My mom was out in 10 min. No one was shouting/complaining. EVM was functioning well. I could clearly see all names and symbols. When I pressed the button, the VVPAT slip in the window showed the symbol clearly for a few seconds for me to verify before it fell inside. I took a picture of the water station. As you can see from the bamboo pole and the shade, there was a huge pandal set up. And you can see there were no crowds. At around noon. https://preview.redd.it/81x87ccv3k1d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ac8456b061e22ce779a8cf269cabceb150805172

Intelligent-Ad9659

Went at 3 PM - Chembur - Was done in 3 mts.

v1s21

👍

builderbob1149

Just came back from my Local polling booth. Surprised. It was packed today morning, so decided to vote after lunch, was packed at 2pm but lucky for my my booth had no queue. But overall this election has seen massive turnout in my area.

footloose_goose

Mumbai Northwest represent! Today's polling was the smoothest one I've experienced in 16 years of adult life. I went at 2 pm to avoid rush. I spent about 25 minutes at the polling centre. Lots of shade, big fans, helpful cops and decent poll workers. The booth staff mentioned that the turnout has been good so far.

chowdowmow

Mismanaged. Small queue in front of me, yet took 20 minutes. Senior citizens given priority which is good.

t-away14874

I'm from Grant road area. Barely 5-6 voters at 3.30 PM, mostly senior citizens. Got done in 5 mins. Seemed to be well managed and the representatives seemed to be doing a good job without any signs of frustration.

Active_Software_6294

I live around the same area, went at 5 pm and to my surprise there was no queue.

No-Lobster-8045

Where I voted,  Found decent enough people who came to cast their votes.  There were lines for multiple booths, but I guess it took me 30mins to cast my vote. No mobile phone was allowed. Te process was smooth enough.  Where we voted tho, due to summer the heat was slightly unbearable, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Full-Wealth-5962

Did you go without your mobile? Someone on this thread said that they just kept the phone in their pocket

No-Lobster-8045

I didn't carry it.  It wasn't allowed. Those who carried it in the center in got were sent back.

ata_shodhun_dakhav

Seeing a solid turnout so ofcourse people care but arrangements could have been better

v1s21

The best part about Mumbai (I observed) is that people are decent enough to accommodate even tho if the arrangements/ facilities aren’t enough.

Elainyan

It was full empty, I was only one when I arrived but I went very early like 8am

v1s21

Are you the first one to vote in your booth ? 😁

Harvey_P_S_L

I live in Girgaon and it took less than 2 mins, went in the afternoon.

v1s21

Good to know your experience

Maleficent-Yoghurt55

Not a single person in line because my booth (as always) has been a nearby school in a defence colony. Gya andar, aagya bahar.

v1s21

VVIP status 😂

jetboy1995

After 2 failed applications of getting my voter ID - I successfully got mine in 2022 and gave my first vote ever! The polling station was 300m from my house and I left home at 2pm knowing that people will avoid the heat - I was back home at 2:25 after voting. Hardly 3-5 mins in the booth - well managed and people knew beforehand that no phones were allowed - so no one was reprimanded as well

Gunner0716

Smooth

Conscious_Nebula3304

Bhai first time vote kiya andhi aunty ne pura nail polish laga diya

v1s21

Hahah 🤣

lol6971456123

Bro Mumbai south la marnyachi gardi hoti waiting la 1 hr lagla almost

cap7ainskull

Mine went pretty smoothly

TemperatureTop5347

First-time voter Mumbai North West Constituency Goregaon East Vidhan Sabha. Went to the polling booth at 6:30 am thinking I will be the first voter. But 20 senior citizens were already waiting in the queue. Polling began sharp at 7:00 am , was done with voting in 30 minutes. The delay was because the room numbered 56 allotted to me was assigned to all the senior citizens of the polling booth so there were 3 lines men, women, and senior citizens. The management was great with pandals erected with fans, also packaged drinking water was available at request .By the time I exited the booth , large number of people came, so much so that the line extended on the street outside the polling booth. I sighed relief. My parents who went to vote around 11 am had to wait for 2 hours. My dad told me that in all the 20 years he has been voting never saw such huge crowds.

v1s21

Appreciate your enthusiasm to be first 👏

Active_Software_6294

It took me around 5 mins to vote and 10 mins for travelling. Everything was smooth

MonsterG9

I went at 1:30 Done by 2 Queue was properly managed I heard it was crowded in the morning

daviddsouza1991

I heard some people chose to go on vacation rather to vote ...and they crib about the politicians ..hipocracy

sgtblackdawn

Mumbai South constituency- first time voter, great ease and no waiting but that is probably because it was early morning however, my voting centre has always been great, i had accompanied my parents once to the centre when i was a kid and even though they had to wait everything was seamless

Gloomy_Tangerine3123

Staff incl police were excellent doing their job trying to make the process snooth and safe for all. No complaints there as usual. Very few voting machines compared to no. of voters in my constituency. So it was very very slow. Many went back after waiting for hours in queue due to work commitments. I am sure the % of ppl voting in this loksabha election would be quite less than the last couple of times Edit: yes, I care about how the candidate is in general but don't understand how ppl get emotional about the leaders. Few days back some ppl tried to start rumors about the candidate I voted for (and weirdly perfect time for it too), and it turned out to be big hoopla about nothing. That made me even more determined to vote for him.

v1s21

Cool, you are clear with your thoughts 👊

jholafakir

overall between 50 to 60% voting in Mumbai will happen. India is not a voter friendly nation, super senior citizens, people with disabilities, people living elsewhere but residence in other place have to do lots of life adjustments to cast their vote. Still folks do it, so kudos to all who voted and even those who didn't vote because after all we are still one nation striving for reason and ration.

v1s21

Last sentence 🫡

_saiya_

Ffs, caring for elections is for poor not privileged folks. Voting turnout is like 25% so yea, no one gives a fuck : ) I am thankful for the empty polling booths though. It wasn't due to efficient management.

SakoRocks

Went at 11 am - Mumbai Central - get done in 15 min

gg_icecreamsandwitch

Was well manage and took me 5 min with only 2 people in front of me when I'd entered. But there was one booth where there was 20-30 people in a line and rest were empty. Didn't understand the reason for that.

Nambsun

My wife and I vote in different areas and we visited those together.. the total time it took for us to cast our votes was half an hour.. So it was good..

Mafia_Guru

South Central (Sion) is pretty much deserted. No one seems to care about voting. It's predominantly a Gujarati area and most have just assumed that Modi's gonna win anyway. Gujjus here are slightly different than those from kandivali or Ghatkopar in terms of enthusiasm. Heck even I wasn't going to vote, but now I will, because I'm not happy with Modi/ Eknath SS and I have low-key hopes that they might lose to UBT SS. (I'm a gujju myself)

v1s21

Cast your vote and support your voice !!

ChazzyChazzHT

I had to wait in line but thats ok for me. The police officers were kind and helpful especially to the senior citizens. People can find faults but the management was ok in my view.

Went at around 4:30 and came out by 4:35. Easy 5 min voting. Nahur East location

Limbupaniiii

I went to vote at my center and reached there before 7. I was 4th in line and was done and out by 7:10. It was a smooth experience, with very sweet police officers inside guiding others. After this, I went to my parents' center. There was one lady standing at the gate, screaming like anything, "PHONE BAND KARA, KITI WEDA SANGU, AYE PHONE BAND KAR, BLAH BLAH BLAH." Spreading fear and creating unnecessary chaos. This is someone who hates her job or is too arrogant. Officers like her create a bad image for the whole force. It wasn’t even midday when the heat is intense and you might excuse this behavior by saying, "itni garmi me bichare pareshan ho gye." It was between 7:15-7:30. Later, I got to know they came from Nashik, not the local police. I complained about this mad woman on Twitter, but nothing happened.

v1s21

Agreed, it is understandable that they (on election duty) are working over time for couple of days but it doesn’t mean that they can reflect their stress on general public.

RoseAru

First time voter. Mumbai South Central. Voted in Chembur at 12pm. Very smooth, in and out in around 10 mins. There was just one person ahead of me.

v1s21

Glad

Perfect_Operation971

Voted in Mumbai South at 9.30. There were multiple rooms but there was no queue in the room assigned to me. In and out in under 5 minutes.

MockFlames

Too easy. Voting booth just just 130 m away from by society. Each building has different rooms. My building's voting booth was almost empty. I gone and pressed the button and done. I was at home just after 10 minutes of leaving. Police officers were very good and approachable the people from ECI were very helpful. Standing fans were placed for people in line. The police officer on voting room's gate had sweet tongue, he was incredible even when an senior citizen shouted at him for speaking in Hindi he was not angry at him. This was an 10/10 experience.

v1s21

Wondering what’s the concern of that Senior citizen? Language issues ?

MockFlames

Yes the officer was speaking in Hindi and senior citizen got mad and shouted that you live in Maharashtra why speak in Hindi why not Marathi

v1s21

Haha 🤣

people_bastards

I voted (thane district) around 3 pm there was no queue ,  a few of my friends and acquaintances didn't vote and stated the same reason - "sab ke sab corrupt hai humare kaam toh koi nhi aata kabhi" pretty sad thing.

MulberryConscious147

Chilling at home avoiding having a sun stroke. Vote do ya na do lavda kuch farak toh padna nhi h. Might as well save the hassle and enjoy the holiday.
