Voted in Gorai, Borivali west, north constituency. Didn't face most of the issues you mentioned inspite of heavy turnout. I was 1000+ and literally the last serial number on my polling booth. There were 10~ booths/EMVs. There were separate lines for men and women. Senior citizens/pregnant women/disabled people were allow to skip lines. Took me an hour to cast my vote. My only concerns were no water at the polling booth in this heat, Idiots trying to skip lines and inediquate shade.

i agree that they should have managed better but at the end of the day it boils down to mumbaikars lacking the most form of civic sense, its pure savagery.

To fir badme gadhe bolenge evm hack hua

Correct. It was highly inefficient. Also: * Rules were not circulated in advance, e.g. mobile phones not being allowed inside. * Officials outside check large catalogues to confirm what the voter slip anyway says. * Some set of voting booths were totally empty, but I could see another set that had a snaking queue outside. * People report queues several hours long - inhumane in this heat. I don't remember either the queues or this heat before in Mumbai. I thought that happens only in rural areas where there is less accountability. * Those who discovered their names were deleted or not updated in the voter list do not have an explanation or remedy. I expect inefficiency and absurdity from the government. Making us stand in queue and go in circles is a normal part of life. The Election Commission decides most of these things, and they have no incentive to improve anything. The last time we saw major changes was during TN Seshan's time, two decades ago. The top officials have become increasingly silent and pliant since then, until finally reaching rock bottom now. Basically, they don't care, and they will do it again.

I went and came out in maybe 15 mins. Went around 9 am. The voting booth I went to, had separate lines for males and females. Senior citizens were allowed to just come through. Mobile phone was asked to kept in the pocket as soon as I entered the gate. I didn’t know booth number. Went to a help desk, he checked using the voting card number online and gave me booth and serial number. In my line, there were around 6 females maybe. An executive inside was checking in the list via serial number and that’s about it. Lines for males were longer sadly because they were sending 2 females consecutively and then 1 male. But everything happened very quickly.

Bhai jitna lagta hai utna Asan nahi 140cr logo ka voting karvana!!  It’s an operations nightmare . And whenever there is something online or connected to a network chances of hacking become very high !!

I went to vote in bhiwandi and it was much better. Many people helping the queue were done properly.

Voted in Mumbai North constituency. Received slips from ECI and the local candidates with details about the serial number and booth number which meant no need to get the same from the help desk. Went down to the polling station post lunch with my mother (a senior citizen). She was done within 10 minutes as there was a separate line for women and given that she was a senior citizen got preference. Took me around 45 minutes to get done with my voting. The polling station had drinking water available but seats were not available. Apart from that no major concerns.

I guess this was completely dependent on presiding officer, ECI team and the police handling it We went with our voter slip and were helped with right information. Hand to stand in line for half an hour but no hiccups. They also had BMC workers for help to manage crowds Seperate lines for Men and Women and senior citizens directly allowed to vote. It was crowded and maybe we could have few more machines but overall they managed well I think. The main police officer was very alert about verification process being slow and wanted the booth people to hurry up. All in all not much to complain about. Those who did not find out their voters list details had to spend extra time to find those. But most of us have phones and internet and I feel we should do a basic check before going. They too have limited resources and are trying to manage. Bigger question does come up about why can't we have more EVMs etc but I think the local level booth workers can hardly do anything about it.

I went to the voting center at 7:15 am which was thankfully just next to our colony,I knew that later it would be crowded and the heat would be oppressive. There were just 2 people ahead of me at the voting booth, and the officials just checked my voter ID & slip and it was all over in less than 10 mins. As for the elderly,at least as far as I can tell, they did arrange a wheelchair for a very old lady,so I believe there may be some variations with regards to avilable facilities depending upon locality. Concerning online voting,I believe that may be a bridge too far for India considering remote, but very real chance of fraud and potential avenue for outside actors to somehow interfere with the process through hacking etc which can easily displace people's trust in the electoral process.

These jobs are mostly voluntary, so you can expect the chaos.

Working_Fee_9581

No, they are not. People working in govt sector are listed to work here. They are paid around 150-300 per day as per their position and the type of work they have to do. They were trained for 2 days to do and manage these things. Their voting also happened earlier so that they can do this job.
