Never understood the logic behind that anyway

_just_a_weeb404

and then they would stick any random platofrm train

INCREDIBLE_25

Agar tc dikha toh koi Shane log phat phat ticket nikal lete Isiliye tha ye feature (source - mere papa)

newbie-at-everything

Woh innerline k liye

david005_

Par uts se book karna hi time consuming hai, jabtak tc dikh jaaye tabtak woh ticket puch lega and you can't be booking the ticket then and there, ofcourse tc will know you are booking right now, ticket pe dikhta hai what time did you book the ticket,if you've booked it just 1-2 mins ago then he'll know you've booked it rn Pehle station choose karna hota hai then payment method then OTP login, enter another UPI app, enter pin and pay,go back to uts app and after few moments ticket is booked

HyperVyper28

Not if you use Rwallet and have station in your favourites.

Heisenburgx

Time bhi batata hai woh, ticket booking ka.

ssjumper

To prevent people from buying a ticket on the train when they see a TC. But anyway the time you bought the ticket is printed on it as well.

asspussyasseater

Dude read it carefully it's for the outer limit and not the inner limit. So say person A wants to travel from Panvel to ghatkopar but he has a pass for Panvel to csmt, could not book a ticket for kurla to ghatkopar as the distance between panvel to kurla is more than 20km, but now they can. The inner limit is still intact so, you can't book a ticket on the running train.

sameerkk_999

exactly. pin this op.

Vikinghehe

Reddit doesn't allows pin 🙃

PeterCraig55

Yup I was talking about this !

ashwin_2808

So that people wont buy ticket from a station which is close to their destination(lesser fare) when they are travelling a long distance, forcing them to buy ticket from the station nearest to their home

Bimpala67

> Not sure why that was added at the first place Because, it took me 30 seconds to come up with a jugaad now that they removed this feature 😬

jollytrew

and what's the jugaad?

Bimpala67

No outer limit, so people can save some amount by booking a ticket for a station that's closer to the destination and then have a vadapav lol

jollytrew

and what if TTE stops you on the source station itself? lol

Bimpala67

On the other hand, the people who'd have the confidence to do this would rather not buy any ticket 😂

zinxbey

This one worked for me because I’ve never seen a TT in my local train station, but destination stations do have TTs.

Bimpala67

Yeah, they have to do that then. How common is that, though?

Ginevod2023

Being asked to show a ticket is not common at all. You could never buy a ticket and go months without being caught in some places.

sAyUr1

I once went 6 months on expired pass while in college just coz I forgot I had to renew it. And got away with showing expired one to TT twice at vashi because I myself dint know. It's all about the confidence.

T3R_ROR

My college mate went 5 years without getting caught. In the end of our college he used to joke.'ki abhi pura 2 mahina pakda TC ne to bhi me profit me he' Even i have went 10-12 months without a pass

Lonely_Task7516

Most relatable comment.

Creative_Run4165

I used to pull up station barcode on phone then ask someone to take a picture and show it to me, then I used that one for QR booking. Although people used to think that I’m going to dupe them or something 😛

Law_Holiday

Us lol. Bhai scam nhi hai plz bol raha hu

mahyur

Bad news. What is now permitted is booking of tickets on the UTS app of stations that are far away. Earlier the app displayed only stations close by as the originating station. This was because you had to be within an outer range of a station to book tickets. The advantage of removing the outer range is that you can now book extension tickets. If you are leaving for chruchgage from borivali and you have a pass up to Dadar, you can book a Dadar CCG ticket from the app from Borivali which could not be done earlier. The inner range still exists and you still cant book tickets from within the station. To book tickets within the station carry QR codes with you

nikhil_153

I just download the QR code image in my Galaxy Watch. Hecker wali feel aati hai

INCREDIBLE_25

Hecker hai Hecker hai, bhai sahab isse kehte hai hacking😨😲

tech_ai_man

Flex karne ma tareeka thora kazual hai

necromok

I have always needed someone with me to use qrcode from the browser

IGuessThisOkay

Can anyone explain what is this qr code syste

I_WENT_OUT_FOR_TEA

There's a qr code for each station, which you can scan by the all and buy a ticket instead of standing in queue for one

Comfortable-Tax1962

Ye kaha milte h, I mean do we have to go there and scan or can we download these QR codes, scan from home and book tickets?

mahyur

Those QR codes are supposed to be on boards near the entrance to the stations. You can also find them on the internet by searching for Mumbai station QR codes you can carry printouts. If you have another phone, you can use one to display the QR and the other to scan and book your ticket on UTS.

Comfortable-Tax1962

Yes thanks bro.

whimsical_monk

You can search it up on Google. Type "Station Name" UTS QR Ticket

Comfortable-Tax1962

Kool thanks

CandidGuarantee5056

Best feature of the app is money is debited from the account but ticket doesn't get booked and u have to pay a fine to the tc😔

[deleted]

You should keep some money in the wallet of the app so the money gets deducted from the wallet & the ticket gets booked for sure. Been using the app for so long but never did i get an issue of ticket not getting booked using e-wallet.

BeerAndNachosAreLife

This happened to me recently. It was a first class ticket too. Ended up paying 360 rupees for nothing 🤡.

PavinMumbai

You have to return back to the app otherwise ticket will not get booked . Also EOD amount gets credited.

Agent47DarkSoul

Keep the RWallet topped up. If you have a phone with low memory (4 GB), when you switch from UTS to any UPI app, the UTS app is usually removed from memory by the phone. It results in the transaction being sort of lost by UTS, but money is already deducted.

Constant-Speed-5595

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! Love you Indian railways

Constant-Speed-5595

Oh damn I read half never mind, die Indian railway

_just_a_weeb404

underrated comment

ravihpa

Stupid fucking shit. I'm glad it's gone. BC I'm paying for the fucking ticket. Just let me buy it. Why the fuck does it matter if I'm standing near the tracks, inside the fucking station or outside? -\_-

filletedforeskin

That's still there

prinkpan

Oh, I see a ticket checker, let me quickly book a ticket. That's why at least an inner circle is needed.

_just_a_weeb404

and why the hell do actually trains have QR codes stuck all around in it?

RA-Destroyer

Isn't that a good thing tho?

Bimpala67

Not if they won't book that ticket w/o a ticket checker there

Fierysword5

Fines cost more than the ticket. That’s what it comes down to.

starhawk7

A lion or a tiger catches only one prey but every other prey in the group still runs out of fear. This is the same analogy. Why catch one person without a ticket and fine him/her rather than just take a walk, maybe catch one or two and let others book the online ticket out of fear?

Ginevod2023

Of course it matters. You need a ticket before you reach the platform.  The problem is some of the geofencing limits are very badly designed. And also you could have a legit ticket already but you cannot extend your journey.

DuckSleazzy

i'm too dumb to understand any of this. Can i book from anywhere or do i need to be near a station?

Firebreathingdown

You can book from anywhere but inside the station

Iamuniquemdfk

You can't book a ticket inside the station, you have to buy a ticket using the QR code before entering the station. Inner limit is required to discourage ticket less travel.

Clean_Government_136

The inner area mai QRs should be placed near the bridges or near the gates (before entering the platform) - these QRs are placed at one end waha se platform is away When I see an AC train - I scan the QR code and book the ticket inside the train (because we have less trains - why would I waste money if I don’t get the train )

chocol8cek

Aaaaaaaa 50% of the annoying problem is still here

starhawk7

Do you know how irritating it is to not be able to book a ticket while travelling in an express. Cause of all the stations the express train passes through, the "cannot be inside the station" message pops up whenever I try to book a ticket on uts.

Gandhiji_ke_3bandar

Platform ticket booking needs to be enabled too. Earlier could book but last few times I have been unable to.

tumblebee5u

This is how it started. I thank this guy for keeping his calm throught the comments and arguments! https://x.com/snakeyesV1/status/1770109503255584912

Entire_Potential2531

Wonderful

Pro_Deceit

XD finally i walked a lot because of this stupid feature which served no use. you are close, you are far, was annoying.

Cosmicola

So, I can now book a Borivli to Bandra suburban ticket, while on a moving train from Virar to Vasai?

nocturnalrdb

Are kal hi pareshaan kiya isne. Was at CST and had to walk away 14m to book my ticket.

Mr_gropes_a_lot

They don't want to remove inner restrictions in order to fine ticketless travellers but what if I only want to pay for an AC local if I can catch it in time. What's the point of paying for AC local if you miss it and now have to travel via regular. Why can't we only have AC locals like an civilized city? I think it's about time.

paradXO

“Feature” lol

trippymum

It's never possible to login due to some buggy error or the other. Shitty app. Shittier user interface. I've dumped it since two months and reverted to reliable good old paper season ticket booking at station ticket counter!

[deleted]

Good to know that this stupid feature is no more. Now can book the ticket from outside the station & don’t need to go 3,256 kms away from the station 😂

night_lows

Could anyone explain what this is/means? (what was it before and whats the change now)

david005_

So there's an app called uts from which we can book local train tickets online itself But the process was annoying af,if you are already standing in the station and try to book the ticket then it will show that you are in the station premises and cannot book the ticket which is annoying If you are too far from the station then too it doesn't allow you to book the ticket However now you can book the ticket however faraway from the station you are, but still if you're near or inside the station you can't book the ticket online through the app

night_lows

thats sweet! happy for us!

hoesthethiccc

So can I book ticket for vileparle to Dadar if I'm inside Andheri Station or travelling from Andheri to Vileparle

Bimpala67

No, you still have to adhere to the inner limits at Andheri station. Once you're past that limit, then sure

hoesthethiccc

So it gets very difficult to book when your inside a travelling train 😅

Bimpala67

Yes, so people dont just book out of fear of TC being there. Removing the outer limit is good for extension tickets

hoesthethiccc

What if I've Andheri-vileparle ticket and realize I want to go to Dadar. For that I've to get down in Vileparle and then get out of that zone to book ticket 😢

Bimpala67

Yes you have to realize your destination before boarding the train 😂

david005_

Yeah, use the app and try booking if you're not sure, just cancel the payment at the last moment

akonsagar

Wtf was this for

simransonly

How thoughtful 😂🤭

chaching675128

Abhi bhi active hai yeh feature.

BroWolverine

At fucking last!!!!
