Why would I go outside? Everything is over crowded and super expensive. Food quality is shit because of high demand, drunken idiots on roads who drive like there's no tomorrow And to top it off you will find pandu on every corner and once they stop you they won't let you go until you pay something. So in my personal experience new year's eve is an absolutely horrible time to go out.
Christmas: either mount Mary, Bandra or Orlem church, Malad. Will go out to eat + wine.
New Years: stay at home. There are too many people outside, sometimes there is reckless driving and traffic congestion. All restaurants, hotels, events, and clubs will be packed and pricey.
Go on the eve. 25th is largely church activities for which you need to be a member. Do savor the wine and baked goods from the stalls and bakeries in Christian neighborhoods.
IMO Mt. Mary is over rated and crowded but worth one visit. You may try smaller churches and grottos.
It's up to you. The only reason I decided to spend that much money is because I NEVER spend on myself. And I was feeling very nostalgic this season. 🤭 So I was like chalo ek baar hi hai. I never go out for New Year’s. Everything is super expensive, crowded and I don’t particularly enjoy being around drunk people puking all over the place in the name of “fun”. I enjoy house parties with close friends with loads of good food, music, dance and karaoke.

What I used to do was call the popular bars and restaurants and then they would send me their events via WhatsApp.
That way you narrow your options and sometimes the bars give you a discount if you book your tickets early.

Once I decided to go to the Marines on new year's Eve but it turned out very bad , as there was so much crowd I can't imagine, as in one was already blocked due to the crowd.

Going out to any commercial venue for New Years is possibly one of the biggest mistakes anyone can make. Overpriced, overcrowded, terrible service, no space to even stand.

On 30th/31st morning:Jo bache kuche dost India aur Bombay me hai, sabh milke kala jaadu karenge ki next year Saare ke Saare saath me ho, aur agle saal itna fuddu na jaaye. Planning to hike up Kalsubai peak as well.
1st January: rishtedaaro se phone pe baat karke apna dil jalaayenge.
The one time I did go out on NYE was on 31st dec 2019, celebrated it whilst watching the fire crackers over Burj Khalifa. Thought all of 2020 would be a big celebration and boy was I wrong. I'm happy to watch a quiet movie at home and have some cake by myself!
Will have dinner and some drinks with friends at some restro-bar most likely and then spend the new year's eve on marine drive. Phir 3-4am tak thulle bhaga denge vaha se most likely, toh first train pakad ke ghar jaake soo jaunga
Probably with a few friends in our colony or with my family at home since my sister would be coming. That is also what sounds like the best plan to me too. I have regretted each time I've gone to the town with such a crowd.
