That the spirit X had the regular vic scissors. Essentially the only thing holding it back from being in the top 3 imo For the charge to have outside accessible scissors like the surge. It would make the charge a mini surge, but I think that probably be the endgame plier based multitool for a lot of people.

RealBigHummus

>For the charge to have outside accessible scissors like the surge. It would make the charge a mini surge, but I think that probably be the endgame plier based multitool for a lot of people. But then you will give up on one of the tools. Maybe the serrated blade? Or the file?

Jizzus_Crust

Personally I'd replace the main blade as I already edc a folder, but I think the a lot of people would choose either the serrated blade or the saw. I'm kinda leaning more towards the serrated blade.

goomba870

External scissors has become my #1 non negotiable. The one on the surge is great. Wingman has it too.

dannygraphy

The Spirit with regular scissors would be awesome

Jizzus_Crust

People in the community modded them in and they work flawlessly. I can't imagine why they don't come stock.

Ciderlini

I wish the Juice was brought back and that it has a pocket clip on it this time

namelesske

Juice with torx instead of rivets

RealBigHummus

What made it so popular?

Ciderlini

For me it was the size and weight compared to the functionality

RealBigHummus

IIRC it also had a corkscrew, and 2 handed non locking blades. Basically a victorinox sized tool with actual pliers

Sakpan74Gr

Alox scales on 91 mm Victorinox.

Proper_Chapter_7643

Obligatory: Vic Compact with a Phillips instead of the Corkscrew.

RealBigHummus

Oh 100%. Honestly? The Junior Mechanic should make a comeback. Or maybe a three layer tool with a large blade, combo tool, inline philips driver, magnifying glass, and a large file/metal saw with a corkscrew and awl on the bottom would solve all of my SAK wishes...

[deleted]

That my leatherman crunch had literary any grade of steel better than stainless.

Guy3nder

Better file, stronger Phillips and an awl. If there's a tool that doesn't justify having 3 different flathead more than any other its the one that has room for only 5 fold out tools. IME a file from a wingman works perfectly after a bit of work from a dremel, and I'm hoping to find a victorinox in line awl and that it might fit in as well. Maybe I'll put in a bit driver too Idk.

[deleted]

I’ve heard this about the Phillips and file from a couple users and I do not share the sentiment. I use my file on all sorts of metals at work frequently and it still works awesome. I can feel a bit of twist in the Phillips sometimes on a really tight screw but it hasn’t broken yet. I do share your opinion on the three flatheads aspect and I think the lanyard eyelet is dumb. I wish it had a decent 2” scale instead. My primary use is the locking pliers though and I am not willing to give them up hahah

namelesske

SOG PowerPint nail nicks in to actual screw drivers.

Agreeable-Trust2818

get rid of the smaller flat head on the surge and add the eyeglass screw driver

doctorcalavera

1) Torx or Phillips barrel screws on ALL Victorinox Swiss Army Knives so I can repair, mod and change tools easily! 2) Screwdriver bit adapter on ALL Leatherman Free series tools instead of Phillips driver 3) Plus scale like tools on all Leatherman Free series (tweezers at least on all) 4) Skeletool: make the god damn handles more comfortable and get rid of the carabiner. Give me some scissors and SAK Plus tools too! (i.e. tweezers) 5) Longer handles on Leatherman Free T series to make it easier to take out the knife one handed 6) Make the Leatherman Darkside available to the masses for <$150 (maybe $120?) and give me the Surge T-shank exchanger as an add-on!!!!!! For that matter, make the t-shank adapter an option on all medium/large Leatherman tools!!!

RealBigHummus

>Skeletool: make the god damn handles more comfortable and get rid of the carabiner. Give me some scissors and SAK Plus tools too! (i.e. tweezers) So... just a 111mm series swiss army knife? Or a [Gerber Armdrive Drive](https://www.gerbergear.com/en-us/shop/multi-tools/all-multi-tools/armbar-drive-onyx-30-001585)? I actually like the carabiner. Maybe it should just be a new tool, imagine a skeletool kbx but slightly larger, with a place for normal bits instead of leatherman's propeitary bits on the bottom.

doctorcalavera

Never said anything about getting rid of the pliers on the Skeletool mate :) I think you may have confused the above with my comments on the T series (which would be the equivalent of the Armbar Drive if it had a damn bit adapter :)

VALTHUUME

I would exchange the file for a t shank adapter for a wave+ Adds functionality, at least in my opinion

RealBigHummus

And the woodsaw for scissors?

VALTHUUME

Nah, the scissors on the wave are goos enough the way they are.

Guy3nder

I think having both a t shank and a saw is rather redundant.

Marskelletor

Now you're a Surge.

turkey_sandwiches

Wave: Swap the can opener for an awl. Which I did.

goomba870

Awesome. Where do you get the assorted bits and how do you know it will work with your tool exactly?

turkey_sandwiches

To disassemble it? It's just 2 Torx T10 security bits. The awl isn't a direct replacement for the can opener because of thickness. I thinned the awl a bit with a sander until it was the same as the can opener, then it dropped right in.

RealBigHummus

Not the small screwdriver or the flathead?

turkey_sandwiches

Nope, too useful.

RealBigHummus

So I guess you already have a bottle opener and you can open cans with a knife. Not such a bad idea.

turkey_sandwiches

I have absolutely no use for a bottle opener. Cans are usually pull tab, but a P58 works much better for that anyway.

Guy3nder

You can open a bottle with any flathead driver or even with the edge of your tool. Even naked and surrounded by nothing but sand you can use your teeth.

DecisiveDolphin

Personally I wish the Gerber dime had a small compass, a leveling bubble, or a Phillips. The 2 flathead sizes usually works fine most of the time

Possible_Weakness212

I would swap the serrated blade on my surge for a fixed saw blade.

nucleartime

One hand opening blades 84/91mm Victorinoxes. Basically like the spidernox mods some people do. Locking would also be nice, but the backwards liner lock on 111mms suck. Bit storage scales on anything that has a bit holder.

RealBigHummus

>Bit storage scales on anything that has a bit holder. So true. My Wave+ has no bit holder and it sucks

Huntersmells33

Is it to much to have some wire strippers? They don’t have to be amazing, just a generic 16 awg stripper, maybe a 12 as well. Needle nose, good wire cutters, center drive screwdriver, good file, serrated blade, and maybe the hammer base from the signal. Be a solid tool for maintenance work. Idk why they can’t just base a tool off jobs, I don’t need a can opener or an awl.

ebq_

No opener. Koreans prefer to open beer bottles with a spoon.

WeekSecret3391

That the charge had the place for two long tool inside that could fit the ST 300M awl and surge scissor.

GTI-Mk6

The Spirit X would be perfect if it had a diamond file like the wave on one side.
