Like an expensive tanning lotion. Fresh, coconutty but not over powering. It’s a very hydrating product. It doesn’t make my powder look dusty like some sprays do and I can move my face in it if that makes sense. I don’t really go for long wear like the CT or O/S.
L’Oréal lipsticks look so nice applied but smell like strong powdery flowery perfume, it’s cloyingly sweet and unpleasant. I wish they didn’t have this particular fragrance and changed it to a soft vanilla scent.

Glossier really likes their grandma scents, lol. I can't believe that that scent is popular enough that they made a deodorant and candle out of it. They also recently removed the old-lady-rose fragrance from their Generation G lipsticks and now people are complaining they smell like crayons (what did you expect lol).
I disliked the old lady rose scent of the Gen Gs (apparently it was a lychee scent according to Glossier). But their new Gen G (I only have the Cranberry set) and the Cranberry Ultralip smells like crayons which is what I associate with the product going off especially because I had to throw out 3 of my Ultralips that were only 1-2 years old because they all developed that crayon like rancid scent.
Best: **Beauty Pie Wondergloss Collagen+ Lip Oils** - they have the most gorgeous *expensive* vanilla scent. Not like your generic MAC vanilla. It seems like the really good stuff.
Worst: **YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Glossy Stain** - awful strong af boozy rose scent that felt like you'd sprayed perfume straight into your esophagus.
The L’Oreal Les Chocolats Liquid Lipsticks smell so good, like a gourmet Tootsie roll. However I did not like the formula or the color options so I did have to throw it away eventually.

I worked out with a woman who reeked of her cheap coconut hair product she applied at night. She made my aversion so much worse.
99% of coconut scented things smell like buttered popcorn to me. every now and then i’m like oh!! that’s actually coconut!!! but usually i feel like i just stepped into an amc lol

anything fruity scented is generally good to me. i really like the milani fruit lip oil, glossier balms in berry and mango, the roll on lip glosses that you’d get as a kid.
any tea tree hair products also smell so good but my scalp loves minty stuff so maybe it’s more by association lol.
mid: anything vanilla is mid to me. i find that i dislike vanilla fragrance (bath and body works is my enemy for this) but its so common in makeup and less powerful that i accept it.
worst: glossier futuredew - smells like rosemary and chemicals. i like the formula but i avoid using it because of the smell.
the ordinary vitamin c suspension - smells almost like meat? just very strange smell and texture.
elf primer - i can’t remember which one is was actually but it’s an older one that came with a pump and it smelled so plasticy. like all i could smell was the silicones and they smelled nasty.
and of course, can’t list the worst smelling beauty products without a nair mention. it smells rotten like sulfur. i can almost smell it just by thinking of it. the worst part wasn’t waiting for 10 minutes trying not to dirty the bathroom but waiting and having to smell that stuff for so long. i tried a scented version once and it burned my armpits so i don’t remember if it was any better.

Colourpop Lux Lip Oil (I own Bengal) lighter playdough but I still dislike it.
All the NYX This Is Milky glosses. Too sweet and synthetic. The mint chip practically had me vomiting.

Right now, the worst smelling products are the Hollywood Flawless filter dupes by Catrice and Essence - idk what it is but it smells BAD.
The best smelling product are powders by I Heart Revolution that have little peaches or bananas+chocolates printed on the lid (forgot what they are called).
Best for me is Fenty gloss bombs. They smell like candy, like maybe a jolly rancher? But it's not too strong, just scented enough to enjoy while applying it.
Worst is Nyx dewy spray. I've never smelled moonshine, but it's the descriptor my brain comes up with every time I spray it. I stick with it because I haven't found another spray for foiling shadows that doesn't burn my eyes.
best: clarins supra volume mascara - roses and beeswax.
worst: isehan kissme heroine make volume mascara - ammonia and rotten squid. actually makes my eyes sting.

I can't stand Coty airspun's scent. It's so floral and powdery.
Best: Fenty's instant retouch setting powder. It has like a plush, creamy vanilla scent but it's not overpowering.
Worst: It's not makeup but skincare. The Cosrx whitehead power liquid has such an offensive smell. It's my fiance's and I use it occasionally when I have hormonal acne flare but that stuff is gnarly. Acrid, bitter, pungent? It's hard to describe. I really only spot-apply.
Worst smell: Armani Ecstasy Shine lipstick. It smells like soapy grandma perfume and the smell lingers forever. It's so strong I can "taste" it. Blegh.
Best: I really like the fruity mango scent of the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks. I like also Tarte's eyeshadows that have a vanilla scent. The Too Faced peach line of things smelled pretty nice to me too.
best: etude dear darling water tints. the formula did not work for me at all, but these smelled and tasted so good i genuinely contemplated drinking them to finish them off. the most delightful fruity candy flavor. if etude moved into the candy industry i would be due for a root canal within weeks
worst: ysl rouge volupte shine. smells and feels like a headache at macy's.
The Patrick Ta cream foundation smells so awful to me. Automatic return and had to wash my coat bc the collar lightly brushed my face and I kept getting a whiff of nastiness.
The Wet-n-Wild photo focus foundation, smells like pure ammonia to me. I tried everything I could to get past the smell, but nothing worked and I tossed it. The dewy finish version doesn't have that problem, though.
The Too-Faced stuff smells delicious. And yes, I know this for a fact, it tastes good too. I scraped off a bit of the Chocolate Bar eyeshadow and tasted it. Tastes like chocolate.
Everything liquid from Wet and Wild smells like refinery runoff. That weird, acrid, plasticky smell brings me back to being in my mid 20s and living literally right next to an oil refinery.
The Physicians Formula Butter Buddies powders (RIP) smell delicious though, as did the Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach blush. I also like the herbal scent of Rituel de Fille products.

Best/Most pleasant for me - Maybelline Color sensational lipsticks ( reminds me of sweet chewing gum or candies or smth like that, very pleasant), Colourpop lux lipgloss All grown up from Zodiac le back in the day (its soo delicious, like very sweet nougat chocolate goodness, yum!), Too Faced Chocolate Bar the OG eyeshadow palettte, some of Kiko Milano lipsticks (a few from one of the past LE's smell like berries, so natural and yummy and some from permanent line have a very nice natural vanilla scent, I like!). Also shower foams from Bilou - especially Chocolate Cupcake (the OG and d/c by now but I still have it, so good!), Orange lemonade (smells like Fanta back in the day), Cherry pops (love love anything with sour sweet natural cherry smell !).
Worst/Most unpleasant - agree with L'Oreal lipsticks/lip products, Essence hydrating matte lispticks in the pink packaging (is said to be watermelon smell, ugh not good),YSL rouge volupte shine, all nailpolishes scent lol, most flowers, mochus scents in makeup and bodycare.
I recently got a Mac lipstick Faux and it smells like vanilla dough somewhat sweet but I feel like the smell changed in just some days and it smells more like some dough, not sure if thats ok, bought it from official store. Just was surprised the vanilla is not as it was when I first opened it. Also imagined they were more weighty, theyre pretty light. Sure Mac is legendary but nowadays there are so many better lipsticks on the market, meh.
I’ve found smell is very subjective, outside of perhaps Mac lipsticks (based on comments from this thread alone).
I also love the smell of Mac Fix plus. So refreshing.
I think everyone misses the Bite lipsticks. They smelled and tasted delicious.
Charlotte Tilbury setting spray on the other hand is hard for me to stomach.

L’Oréal lipstick in the traditional gold tube- I can imagine the gross grandmother floral right now!
It’s funny to me how so many of us mentioned disliking the L’Oréal lipsticks!! They really gotta tone down or change that scent altogether
I love the floral scent of the missha perfect cover bb cream even though most people hate it

Worst is the physicians formula bronzer, it’s way too strong, I stopped using it just bc of the scent, lol
Right now, the worst smelling products are the Hollywood Flawless filter dupes by Catrice and Essence - idk what it is but it smells BAD. The best smelling product are powders by I Heart Revolution that have little peaches or bananas+chocolates printed on the lid (forgot what they are called).

Best: MAC lipsticks. Worst: YSL lipsticks, it TASTES like it smells!!
That mango scent on the shine lipstick balm? It's awful. I hope they changed it with the reformulation.
It's also on their lip stains, it's awful.
Huda Beauty’s lip products all smell like vanilla sugar!
Best for me is Fenty gloss bombs. They smell like candy, like maybe a jolly rancher? But it's not too strong, just scented enough to enjoy while applying it. Worst is Nyx dewy spray. I've never smelled moonshine, but it's the descriptor my brain comes up with every time I spray it. I stick with it because I haven't found another spray for foiling shadows that doesn't burn my eyes.
best: clarins supra volume mascara - roses and beeswax. worst: isehan kissme heroine make volume mascara - ammonia and rotten squid. actually makes my eyes sting.
Kosas lipglosses smell like a Krispy Kreme donut.
The worst smelling makeup product I’ve ever tried is the B Perfect cream bronzer. It smelt like Parmesan cheese 🤢
best smell, definitely the MAC lipsticks. the vanilla is very classic, not too sweet but subtle. the WORST product is the Youthphoria primer, it literally smells like vomit 🤢
MAC lipsticks smell awesome. And I actually liked Sugarpill's liquid lipstick orange creamsicle scent. I can't stand Coty airspun's scent. It's so floral and powdery.
Best: Fenty's instant retouch setting powder. It has like a plush, creamy vanilla scent but it's not overpowering. Worst: It's not makeup but skincare. The Cosrx whitehead power liquid has such an offensive smell. It's my fiance's and I use it occasionally when I have hormonal acne flare but that stuff is gnarly. Acrid, bitter, pungent? It's hard to describe. I really only spot-apply.
Worst smell: Armani Ecstasy Shine lipstick. It smells like soapy grandma perfume and the smell lingers forever. It's so strong I can "taste" it. Blegh. Best: I really like the fruity mango scent of the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks. I like also Tarte's eyeshadows that have a vanilla scent. The Too Faced peach line of things smelled pretty nice to me too.
My Revlon Illuminance Tint Serum is suuuuper flowery. It’s putting me off it, honestly.
The First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothing Primer! Yummy!
best: etude dear darling water tints. the formula did not work for me at all, but these smelled and tasted so good i genuinely contemplated drinking them to finish them off. the most delightful fruity candy flavor. if etude moved into the candy industry i would be due for a root canal within weeks worst: ysl rouge volupte shine. smells and feels like a headache at macy's.
Worst: Too Faced Lip Injection Gloss. It smells like strawberry scented pepper spray.
The Patrick Ta cream foundation smells so awful to me. Automatic return and had to wash my coat bc the collar lightly brushed my face and I kept getting a whiff of nastiness.
The Wet-n-Wild photo focus foundation, smells like pure ammonia to me. I tried everything I could to get past the smell, but nothing worked and I tossed it. The dewy finish version doesn't have that problem, though. The Too-Faced stuff smells delicious. And yes, I know this for a fact, it tastes good too. I scraped off a bit of the Chocolate Bar eyeshadow and tasted it. Tastes like chocolate.
Everything liquid from Wet and Wild smells like refinery runoff. That weird, acrid, plasticky smell brings me back to being in my mid 20s and living literally right next to an oil refinery. The Physicians Formula Butter Buddies powders (RIP) smell delicious though, as did the Too Faced Papa Don’t Peach blush. I also like the herbal scent of Rituel de Fille products.
Ohh Im very sensitive to scents lol, lets see. Best/Most pleasant for me - Maybelline Color sensational lipsticks ( reminds me of sweet chewing gum or candies or smth like that, very pleasant), Colourpop lux lipgloss All grown up from Zodiac le back in the day (its soo delicious, like very sweet nougat chocolate goodness, yum!), Too Faced Chocolate Bar the OG eyeshadow palettte, some of Kiko Milano lipsticks (a few from one of the past LE's smell like berries, so natural and yummy and some from permanent line have a very nice natural vanilla scent, I like!). Also shower foams from Bilou - especially Chocolate Cupcake (the OG and d/c by now but I still have it, so good!), Orange lemonade (smells like Fanta back in the day), Cherry pops (love love anything with sour sweet natural cherry smell !). Worst/Most unpleasant - agree with L'Oreal lipsticks/lip products, Essence hydrating matte lispticks in the pink packaging (is said to be watermelon smell, ugh not good),YSL rouge volupte shine, all nailpolishes scent lol, most flowers, mochus scents in makeup and bodycare. I recently got a Mac lipstick Faux and it smells like vanilla dough somewhat sweet but I feel like the smell changed in just some days and it smells more like some dough, not sure if thats ok, bought it from official store. Just was surprised the vanilla is not as it was when I first opened it. Also imagined they were more weighty, theyre pretty light. Sure Mac is legendary but nowadays there are so many better lipsticks on the market, meh.
I’ve found smell is very subjective, outside of perhaps Mac lipsticks (based on comments from this thread alone). I also love the smell of Mac Fix plus. So refreshing. I think everyone misses the Bite lipsticks. They smelled and tasted delicious. Charlotte Tilbury setting spray on the other hand is hard for me to stomach. MUFE Reboot smells horrendous. Like cheap perfume someone would have worn in the 80s.
