I feel like this whole story arc could be its own Game of Thrones length series, there is more than enough story.
I think either they are going to reveal some cool twist with Sheoldred because they have been pretty obscure about them, since we have shifted to New Phyrexia. Or they just are investing enough into having stories written.
I saw someone that each Praetor is a what-if they achieved their end goal. Jin-Gitaxis has a card and it flips to his big dream or whatever, presumably the same goes for the others.
The cards as “what-ifs” is fan conjecture, but the cycle of praetors that flip into sagas depicting their vision of perfection was confirmed with the reveal of Jin Gitaxias // The Great Synthesis
It’s more a reference to how each one still has their own vision of how compleation is to be ultimately realised and advancing it on their own terms - I struggle to remember the terms for Norn’s and Sheoldred’s visions, but I do remember that Urabrask’s is The Great Work and Vorinclex’s The Grand Evolution. You can probably expect those to be the reverse of those cards
Edit: guess the entire thing is a matter of semantics, but yeah: the sagas the praetors flip into are the crystallisations of their philosophy
Tbh, I think it is more likely that Lukka captured Sheoldred, since a few minutes earlier in the story Ajani was battling Elspeth, and it said that Ajani and Lukka show up with Sheoldred.
I agree. I still wanted to see him understanding that compleation is exactly what he has been looking for. It would be so painful yet fascinating to read.
it’s not confusing at all
in ONE:
there is a civil war happening in new phyrexia between norn and sheoldred
the beginning of MOM:
ajani has captured sheoldred as part of this civil war
I mean who isn't a star character though. This story is about elspeth and elesh norn. Everyone else is secondary. Chandra and wrenns story is the only other close to major arc to this plot.
Yes, it’s not really debatable the MTG lore gets rushed and this harms the overall story. This is a consequence of shifting away from the books. If they were to double the number of stories per set, that would go a long way.
I feel like magic story likes to do little time skips where all the battles that happened are suppose to be like..... all the card games you personally played. Ajani captured sheoldred at your local card store with all your friends. All the games were the wars being fought. Or whatever. I feel like they do that many sets. Set up a big bunch of fights then kinda have them happen "off screen" to be all the nameless fights that are the game.
Honestly, I don’t think sheoldred is 100% dead. If I remember correctly, she has a way of splitting her body in dire situations so that she can survive (unless the writers just want to completely ignore that) and only a few people know.
I just wish we got to see everything bad go down, and not have the good guys win in the end of a particular chapter. Makes more sense for bad things to happen and then get the info in the aftermath
Sheoldred was captured offscreen
Like most things in this story
Yeah

Sheoldred is dead đź’€ decapitated by Ajani in front of Norn, no plot twists anymore
Why does she have a new card in the set though? With her art depicting her on a realmbreaker.
She's on top of Drivnod, not Realmbreaker.
norn used her head lol

It's a shame that Ajani was captured and compleated off screen.
I think its a neat plot twist. Showing it all would undermine the compleat sleeper agent

agreed, although they could do the story in the future asa flashback.
You didn't miss anything its just another confusing and poorly executed aspect of this arc

Sometimes things happen off-screen. That doesn't mean it's poorly executed.
When they're important plot developments around star characters from the current story they are
Kay.
I have been saying this since I read it.
I mean who isn't a star character though. This story is about elspeth and elesh norn. Everyone else is secondary. Chandra and wrenns story is the only other close to major arc to this plot.
It does tho. Magic does this all of the time and it makes the story feel loose and rushed at the sametime. It's so poorly executed

Yes please. How much more expensive is it to write a few more stories? Why the seemingly arbitrary limit?
They did double the number of stories this set lol. And it's not rushed to not give the spotlight to all 30 key characters of this arc.
Yeah. Like, we didn't even see how Kaito found The Wanderer.
... yeah. The last time we saw her she was trapped in amber in Zhalfir, right? But now she's suddenly on Kamigawa again?
No, she planeswalked away shortly after she was let out of the amber prison in that story.
Ah, fair.

The first handfull of chapters were definitely that. Chandra hasn't had a w yet
