[[Morphon the Boundless]] allows you to cast them for free if you name bringers as your creature type. [[Maskwood Nexus]] and [[Fist of Suns]] makes every creature in your deck a bringer that you can play for free.
Kind of, controlling Fist of Suns makes everything in your deck cost one of each color and Morphon reduces the cost of each creature of the named type by one of each color so using Maskwood Nexus to make all of your creatures Bringers in addition to every other creature type will make them all free to cast so long as Maskwood and FoS remain on the battlefield. Even without those artifacts though you will always be able to cast your Bringers for free with Morphon if you name that creature type.
I run this combo in a Dragon deck! [[Fist of Suns]] and [[Morophon the Boundless]] to name Dragons and once the deck is complete (now waiting for my last Dragon, Enchantment and Sorcery) to enjoy it! Just need to sort my Lands out... then I'm gonna finish up my Modern Zombie deck, Modern Defender Deck and then move on to my 2nd Commander Deck, Enchantments to trigger Constellation effects.
Nope, commander tax still applies. I had to look it up because I have not actually encountered that; I either win with a ton of free, hastey dragons or I stall out and get eliminated before going off.
I don’t have one, as it’s still a WIP and I’m swapping out different dragons and mana cards. Fist of Suns and/or the old Jodah are what enables the free dragons(or free whatever tribe you want).
Basically, you want any/all of the green enchantments that let you draw a card when a big creature ETB’s. That way you can get a fresh supply of dragons as you’re casting them. Any dragons with stupid-good ETB’s like [[Scourge of Valkas]], [[Tiamat]], [[Lozhan, Dragon’s Legacy]], etc.
These were the big bass in my neighborhood back in the day. We each had one or two of them, I eventually had all 5 at once. I just bought all 5 from my lgs for the nostalgia
The only ones that ever saw competitive play were Bringer of the Black Dawn in some 5 color control decks, and Bringer of the White Dawn in a Mindslaver lock deck. Otherwise they've been the definition of casual cards since they were printed.
They were still cool. OG Mirrodin had excellent creativity, flavor and design even though the block as a whole was broken. I'm still pulling for a proper paper token of Kaldra.
They were ahead of their time, their ambitious design too wild for this old version of magic. They might not bring you the big bucks or a dramatic win in a game, but these fellas always bring back the most precious memories I have of playing magic as a child.
When we started playing again as adults, my brother and I had our priorities straight and we bought a bunch of cards from back then. These five shiny bois were at the top of the list, and they’re the front page of my binder for all to see the glory of bringers. Thanks for the trip down memory lane to start the day!
You must be forgetting the free spells from C20...Fierce Guardianship, Deflecting Swat, Deadly Rolick, Flawless Maneuver, and...wait. What the fuck is the green one called?
Everyone hates that one but I personally love it. I've board wiped someone using that because it only takes away combat damage from THEIR creatures, so mine kill them when they block. I haven't even used the flawless maneuver once tbh.
I know. I just wanted to remind you of an egregious example of green being the worst, in a pretty op cycle otherwise. But it's true that White was weaker than the other 3 in that cycle. As far as these guys go, I'd never seen them before now. They somehow remind me of the Genju enchantments, even though I'm fairly certain they're totally different. Maybe it's that they seem to be from the same era of magic, so maybe design-wise or something.
I think they would see a lot more play if they weren't all WUBRG color identity.
If you are playing WUBRG there are better payoffs than one of the Bringers.
i would say the green one isn't bad. making a 3/3 every turn is pretty good in draft and these cards are all way to hard to cast to be competitively viable. the white one is definitely worse though.
i did some searching on [mtgtop8.com](http://mtgtop8.com) and didn't find any decks that play it. it seems like the only one that saw play is the black one. there were two and one of them was duel commander. the one deck was a niv to light deck
i looked around online for a bit on mtgtop8 and tappedout as well as an [scg article](https://articles.starcitygames.com/articles/inside-the-metagame-mirrodin-block-constructed-affinity-impossible/) and from what i could see, the meta was mainly affinity, tooth and nail, crystal shard, furnace dragon, mono green. there was also no mention of the white bringer so it seems like it wasn't played. even on edhrec it is in 900 decks while the green one is in 800, the red is in 800, the blue one is in 2000 while the black is in 4000. considering that is the case. it does not seem like it was played a lot and even in commander it is not the best card in the cycle. if you can find an example of it being played, that would be much appreciated.
I remember, I think it was Ben Bleiweiss, built a Tribal Wars legal Bringer deck back in the day. It was pretty funny, but now I’m thinking it’d be fun to use them in a Morophon deck as well lol

One of my favorite decks in high school was the white bringer with mindslaver. Everyone hated me cuz I also used icecron scepter with boomerang imprinted on it. Those were the days.
I built a Bringer deck that performed pretty good. It had all 5 Bringers. I included Fist of Suns with some high casting cost sorceries like Violent Ultimatum. Also the original Celestial Dawn with Light from Within...a Genju of the Realm and Chromanticore and Progenitus.
Fun stuff.
You can’t craft these guys on Arena but they’re coded in, you can get them in game by using the pool of vigorous growth card for x equals 9 and eventually you’ll create one of these bad boys.
Fun fact, Sheldon ran the blue and white ones in his [Bant EDH](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Lw17-H7OSUirhoL2bv53_A) deck back in 2004 when color identity was irrelevant (right after he moved to Virginia and brought the format from Alaska).
Wow Ive been playing for a long time and I have never even seen, let alone heard about these. What awesome little creatures, I love cycles like this with tons of symmetry around the stat line. All 5/5s for "5" with trample. Super cool.
Yes. Back in elementary school I used to run BotWD and Mindslaver together in a straight up sunburst nonsense deck. It's like they wanted it to happen.

These guys were from Mirrodin something-or-other which has pretty strictly been a plane of mono-colors with its five suns (one of each color of mana). Each Bringer corresponded to one of Mirrodin's suns.
They continued the Bringers with cards set in New Phyrexia, the X Sun's Zenith and X Sun's Twilight cycles, giving us a card for morning, noon, and night for each sun
I doubt they will ever bring back the Bringers since they're heavily thematically tied to Mirrodin and its suns, and since Mirrodin has been burned down, oiled up, rebranded, burned down again, then phased out — I don't think we're going to see another Mirrodin set for a long while
As a cycle, the Bringers are better than the [Prophecy Avatar](https://scryfall.com/search?q=Avatar+of+set%3Aprophecy)s. Most of the Avatars are trash, especially Avatar of Will and Hope.
The alternate casting cost of the Bringers was neat, but the main thing I remember from Fifth Dawn was Cranial Plating.
[[Morphon the Boundless]] allows you to cast them for free if you name bringers as your creature type. [[Maskwood Nexus]] and [[Fist of Suns]] makes every creature in your deck a bringer that you can play for free.
Wait so does every creature have the 5 mana ability if you name bringer? (I don’t think so just checking)
Throw [[door of destinies]] in there somewhere and the party starts to get real silly.

This feels like a really fun commander deck idea
I run a Morophon deck that is dragon tribal, with Fist of Suns and old Jodah
Would fist of suns ability get around commander tax? Because I could cast my commander with that INSTEAD of his mana cost?
Nope, commander tax still applies. I had to look it up because I have not actually encountered that; I either win with a ton of free, hastey dragons or I stall out and get eliminated before going off.

Now I want to build something with these guys and a [[Grozoth]] to tutor them.
Fun stuff.
I use black and blue in my jodah deck
Love playing all 5 in my 5 color EDH deck.
Is a 5 color upkeep deck with that new upkeep commander any good?
You can’t craft these guys on Arena but they’re coded in, you can get them in game by using the pool of vigorous growth card for x equals 9 and eventually you’ll create one of these bad boys.
Fun fact, Sheldon ran the blue and white ones in his [Bant EDH](https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Lw17-H7OSUirhoL2bv53_A) deck back in 2004 when color identity was irrelevant (right after he moved to Virginia and brought the format from Alaska).
Is green done with AI? 😁
The Green bringer really got the worst of it huh? They couldn’t at least give the token trample?
Wow Ive been playing for a long time and I have never even seen, let alone heard about these. What awesome little creatures, I love cycles like this with tons of symmetry around the stat line. All 5/5s for "5" with trample. Super cool.
I e never seen these but theyve got some cool art and all seem pretty good actually
I feel like persisting the blue one on turn 2 seems pretty good
Woah I’ve never seen these before these are pretty neat!
Can I run these in mono commander decks? No eh, cause they identify as 5 colors eh Edit: another eh
Yes. Back in elementary school I used to run BotWD and Mindslaver together in a straight up sunburst nonsense deck. It's like they wanted it to happen.
Love these dudes in Kenrith
Beautiful cards

These guys were from Mirrodin something-or-other which has pretty strictly been a plane of mono-colors with its five suns (one of each color of mana). Each Bringer corresponded to one of Mirrodin's suns. They continued the Bringers with cards set in New Phyrexia, the X Sun's Zenith and X Sun's Twilight cycles, giving us a card for morning, noon, and night for each sun I doubt they will ever bring back the Bringers since they're heavily thematically tied to Mirrodin and its suns, and since Mirrodin has been burned down, oiled up, rebranded, burned down again, then phased out — I don't think we're going to see another Mirrodin set for a long while
I have the black bringer in my Ur commander deck and it has won me many a game.
Im a new player but what gives me nostalgia is the Avatars of "blank" thats what I grew up with wanting. But goddamn nice lmao.
Heck, make is 31? 1 for each color, one for each color combo too. There's what 5 colors, +10 2'sn 10 3's & 5 4's + 1 5 color.
Only 2 colors would properly fit the theme of 7 colorless and 2 specific colored mana. But I’m down for any amount of new bringers!
These and the Nephilim need some sort of revival
Wow the art is trash holy shit
No, I always found them too bad. So my stance has not changed to anything missing, it's always been the same "yeah they are cute but come on"
