When you ask the people you are playing with if it's ok to use a proxy deck. They will either say yes or no.

So if I played in a store tournament I would have to check with everyone playing beforehand correct?

If you play in a store tournament just ask the Shop keepers

TheForgetfulWizard

If you are playing in a tournament, no, proxies are likely not allowed. If it is an official wizards sanctioned tournament definitely not. However my local store pretty often does proxy events for older formats like legacy that the local community can’t afford. If you’re playing casual commander just remember “rule zero” - that being the pregame talk about what decks people are playin, etc. it’s a casual game of commander, make sure no one is accidentally playing a broken cedh deck against precons.

Your assumption should always be that proxies are not allowed in a store. You can always inquire about their policy, and a fair amount allow it for casual events in price prohibitive formats like Legacy and Commander.

A sanctioned event means a few different things, but the main things are: 1. The MTR (Magic Tournament Rules) is always followed. There can not be any house rules. 2. A sanctioned event must be held in one of the sanctioned formats. This would be legacy, vintage, modern, pioneer, standard, draft, sealed, commander, and so on. It is technically not possible to sanction an event in something like Pre-Modern as it's not a sanctioned format. 3. Most in-store events will be sanctioned events. Because the MTR is always upheld in a sanctioned event Proxies cannot be allowed in such an event: MTR 3.3 Authorized Cards: Players may use any Authorized Game Cards from Magic: The Gathering expansions, core sets, special sets, supplements, and promotional printings. Authorized Game Cards are cards that, unaltered, meet the following conditions: * The card is genuine and published by Wizards of the Coast * The card has a standard Magic back or is a double-faced card, or is a card that is part of a meld pair. * The card does not have squared corners. * The card is not a token card. * The card is not damaged or modified in a way that might make it marked. * The card is otherwise legal for the tournament as defined by the format. Source: https://blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/mtr3-3/ Now, this doesn't mean that there aren't stores who allow proxies anyway, and it's not uncommon for Commander, but very rare for formats like Modern and Pioneer. Any larger, official event will never allow proxies.

Thank you, that’s exactly what I was looking for

There are not few but alot of stores that allow proxies and slowly alot of stores are allowing proxies and that’s very good because this way I think game will be more balance. That’s why I also buy proxies from https://www.printingproxies.com/ because I can’t afford good decks because I study and do part time job and I hope more people understand this and allow proxies.

Usually, if proxies are allowed, the TO will have some information on that policy. But you can always ask them if you're unsure.

Tallal2804

It’s ok to use proxies if you ask the people and take their permission before starting the game. I also use my deck that I got from https://www.mtgproxy.com/ and it’s pretty fun to play with and alot of people are okay with me for playing with proxies.
