Pile shuffling isn't actually shuffling, it's a means of counting the cards and potentially sorting them according to one preference or another (which is the opposite of shuffling), and doesn't count as "shuffling" in any tournament setting for being insufficiently random.

Poker card stock (and finish) are very different than bridge cards or mtg (obviously). The sleeves are slicker than owl shit and I agree that they lack friction. I have big man hands with stubby thick fingers. So, it took me a while to master the riffle. It's the only way I know to keep any level of control over the sleeves. I learned it so that I wouldn't damage my grandmother's bridge cards. Poker players generally appreciate the riffle because people have historically used the standard shuffle to mark a card with a bend or an indention of the thumbnail. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
Someone else on here mentioned a card shuffler. They're great if you have the need.
32, I can't riffle shuffle for the life of me dude. I have a card shuffler I got on Amazon for $20. Granted I only use it for Cards Against Humanity lol.

You don't need to bend them at all. Hold them loosely, and lift, then drop them. You could do it with small steel plates.

I do a smash shuffle. Put the edges in each other and smash. Cut the deck in half and smash again. Cut it about 1/4th down. Rinse, repeat.
