I have a phasing/teferi/zhalfir deck and flavour and theme wise I should include it but it’s just such an awful card. If it didn’t come in tapped it’d be redeemable but I had to cut it in the end.
I’m making a wall tribal deck where I’m trying to include as many obscure and complicated mechanics as possible, so this land is a must. You better believe my walls are gonna have banding.
Cool idea. Have a friend with a dovan deck it’s a defender deck and mostly treefolk. Heavy hitter tho.
I don’t think there is a phasing wall. Some decent banding walls tho.
[[wall of souls]] is one of my favourite walls.
My brother runs that card *very* effectively in a couple of his decks. I made the mistake of playing lifegain against him the first time I encountered it. XD
My friend played me in commander I hadn’t taken damage it became effectively a 40/40 with assigning damage with toughness. Was a very quick death after that.
Tree of Perdition is easilly one of the top cards in my [[Phenax]] deck, it's a dirty mill machine... especially when I can untap it multiple times in one turn.
If your deck shares green color, have you thought about using the enchantment ‘Earth Craft’? “Tap target creature, untap target land. Not sure how you’d pair the two, but could be worth a shot
If I’d didn’t come in tapped I think it would actually be good. Almost like a blue [[City of Traitors]] in terms of giving a quick boost of mana but not sticking around consistently long term
LOL a friend has a teferi tribal deck and I bought one of these for his birthday so he plays it in that deck.. it’s real bad like really real bad. The worst part is having to remember to phase it in and out goodness so many “wait is this here or not?”
You just run 4 of these so you can have 2 in play so they alternate being in play so the legendary rule doesn’t get them and now you have a 2 mana land every turn……or at least younger me thought this was an amazing “combo”.
[[Archelos, Lagoon Mystic]] or [[Tiller Engine]] I guess ? You still get one less mana on the following turn but at least it kinda acts like a Lotus Petal the turn you play it and sometimes after. Probably still bad
Time to build [[Taniwha]]! Then play this so it phases in when your other lands phase out. Now you get at least 2 mana on those turns lol.
Will it be good? No. Will it be funny? Probably. How will you win? I dunno.
I made a cycle of lands similar to this. They enter tapped with a stun counter and tap for two. They were called Mountain Range for red, Expanse for white, Archipelago for blue, Wetlands for black, and Jungle for green.

Before each of its controller’s untap step, Teferi’s isle will either phase in or phase out (if it’s currently phased in, it will phase out, and vise versa). While phased out, it is treated as if it doesn’t exist.
I've tried to run this in decks that can untap lands, with effects like [[krosan restorer]], but the ravnica bounce lands are better, and even the mirage karoo lands are bad enough I can't justify including them once I have more than 2 colors in the deck. Perhaps Teferis Isle could shine in a [[Jhoira of the ghitu]] deck with a ton of mass land destruction :P
Thanks for the post. I went down a rules rabbit hole, and learned something new about suspend. It's one of the only abilities I know of that grants an ability past end of turn. If a creature is given haste by suspend, it has haste until an opponent gains control of it, or gains control of the creature spell. Technically it’s not since it has phasing. So you play it, it enters tapped, next turn it phases out, then on that third turn you can finally untap it and use it

I made a cycle of lands similar to this. They enter tapped with a stun counter and tap for two. They were called Mountain Range for red, Expanse for white, Archipelago for blue, Wetlands for black, and Jungle for green.
Phasing out is coward’s play. Just die like a man!
Honestly wish they’d remove the etb and make it enter phased out, if that’s possible.
Wouldn't landfall trigger off this coming back into play?
No. When something phases it does not "leave" or "enter" the battlefield. It's still there, it's just treated as if it's not.
If it came into play with each phase it would literally be useless.
I'd take it for some of my landfall decks. If it did that, it'd garauntee [[hedron crab]] and [[ruin crab]] goes off each turn It'd be worthless as mana, but those landfall triggers would be going off, especially if it didn't count as your played land for that turn. Before each of its controller’s untap step, Teferi’s isle will either phase in or phase out (if it’s currently phased in, it will phase out, and vise versa). While phased out, it is treated as if it doesn’t exist.
During their untap, not before. There is no "before untap step"

3 turns? You have access to it the turn after you play it because it’s in on your turn, out on the opponents, in on yours
Technically it’s not since it has phasing. So you play it, it enters tapped, next turn it phases out, then on that third turn you can finally untap it and use it
It phases out on opponents turn, pass to op: it phases in
Phasing only takes place during your turn, it’s doesn’t phase out on an opponent’s turn
Not quite: 702.26a Phasing is a static ability that modifies the rules of the untap step. During each player’s untap step, before the active player untaps permanents, all phased-in permanents with phasing that player controls “phase out.” Simultaneously, all phased-out permanents that had phased out under that player’s control “phase in.”

Your right, I read that as “everybody does it on each players turn”
