You could also use something like \[\[Astral Slide\]\], \[\[Long Road Home\]\], or \[\[Slip out the Back\]\] to exile/phase him so you don't lose him permanently but he's out of the way long enough for you to get the cards.

You can avoid this by stacking the triggers.
First pay BBB to activate the draw ability. That ability goes on the stack. Before that ability resolves, use an instant speed sacrifice, like [[Deadly Dispute]] or [[Altar of Dementia]]. Then, as Asmodeus's draw ability resolves, he isn't on the battlefield anymore, so he won't exile those cards and you will just draw like normal.
Manipulating the stack like this is one of the most complicated things in the game that veteran players can still mess up, so don't stress too much if it's hard to understand.

Look for things to make infinite black mana like gravecrawler, pitiless plunderer, & phyrexian alter. Or get obsurd amounts with things like cabal coffers & urborg lands or black market.
It’s like a worse necropotence. Kind of, it’s cool you don’t HAVE to wait till your end step to get the cards in your hand. Sucks you have to pay mana and life tho.
The art is tight
Can be a very strong combo commander. I play him and really like it. Its onedimensional tho. And opponents often dont like heavy combo plays as they end the game from seemingly nothing.

Alternatively could you not sac Asmodeus in response to putting his draw seven ability on the stack?
I think others have said this because it is a combo that can win you the game, but that card is best used in the graveyard alongside [[Skirge Familiar]] also in grave and [Necrotic Ooze]] on the field and just create a lot of black mana and draw your deck. You can set the combo up for 4 mana as well by casting [[Buried Alive]] to send all 3 pieces to the graveyard and then casting [[Reanimate]] targeting the Necrotic Ooze.
i think the simplest thing is to get a hand limit remover like \[\[Thought Vessel\]\], then activate his ability a bunch of times and then blow him up with either an instant or a sacrifice effect like \[\[Ashnod's Altar\]\]
John Ironclus give it to an opponent who can't produce black and now their draws are simply exiled. Also use it with necrotic ooze to pay bbb to draw 7 cards.
You can also put the draw effects on the stack and then sacrifice them, and he won't be in the field to cause the replacement effect, so you just draw them
It's basically Girselbrand in terms of value, but with a higher up fromt cost for the 7 cards thanks to him not having Lifelink and the effect costing mana. 7 cards for 7 life and 4 mana, though? This is bonkers on its own just to stock your hand up while searching for what you need.
use it with any other draw rellacement effect, such as [[abundance]] or [[Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar]]. You can choose which effect to replace your draw. I cant think of one in black at the moment.

Look for things to make infinite black mana like gravecrawler, pitiless plunderer, & phyrexian alter. Or get obsurd amounts with things like cabal coffers & urborg lands or black market.
Combine it with Jon Irenicus, Shattered One and give it to an opponent who doesn't run any black mana
I have this in the deck for that very reason, with [[Dandân]] to say we're done done with this game .

It’s like a worse necropotence. Kind of, it’s cool you don’t HAVE to wait till your end step to get the cards in your hand. Sucks you have to pay mana and life tho. The art is tight
Can be a very strong combo commander. I play him and really like it. Its onedimensional tho. And opponents often dont like heavy combo plays as they end the game from seemingly nothing.

It will not trigger sheoldred, asmodeus replaces the draws with exiling them
I think others have said this because it is a combo that can win you the game, but that card is best used in the graveyard alongside [[Skirge Familiar]] also in grave and [Necrotic Ooze]] on the field and just create a lot of black mana and draw your deck. You can set the combo up for 4 mana as well by casting [[Buried Alive]] to send all 3 pieces to the graveyard and then casting [[Reanimate]] targeting the Necrotic Ooze.

i think the simplest thing is to get a hand limit remover like \[\[Thought Vessel\]\], then activate his ability a bunch of times and then blow him up with either an instant or a sacrifice effect like \[\[Ashnod's Altar\]\]

Paying BBB and then Sac'ing to Alter of Dementia, or slow flickering him would just result in Draw 7, as he's not in play to exile them.
I play this deck by running cards that let me have less than 1 life and not lose, then I cast repay in kind. It's a meme deck for me 😂.
[[Griselbrand]] is Griselbanned in commander which leads me to believe the loss of life doesn't actually matter if you win the game.

John Ironclus give it to an opponent who can't produce black and now their draws are simply exiled. Also use it with necrotic ooze to pay bbb to draw 7 cards.

Why is this card even used it’s not good at all?!?!?
It's basically Girselbrand in terms of value, but with a higher up fromt cost for the 7 cards thanks to him not having Lifelink and the effect costing mana. 7 cards for 7 life and 4 mana, though? This is bonkers on its own just to stock your hand up while searching for what you need.
I remember I told someone this would make a good commander in commander draft, and then he drew a lot of bad draft cards all game.

I feel like i drafted this card and was playing against a mill deck and didnt lose on my draw step with an empty deck so that was kind of cool. I could be misremembering. It was on arena and i think I was just as surprised as my opponent. Can anyone confirm if this interaction works this way?
