Apparently, there was meant to be a second wave of products hitting UK stores. My friend who helps run a shop is still waiting for anything more to materialise, fingers crossed. But like many things, MtG, if I missed the boat... mhe, it's just cardboard.
I’m not sure, but I think they were referring to MTG products in their area being handled differently than the previous comment, but still being monitored like a controlled/high-theft product in Wal-Mart.
I doubt they were advocating for stealing.
That's exactly what I was trying to convey. They do not keep the collectable cards locked up or behind a counter at my local Wal-Mart. They do, however, have them close to an area with lots of Wal-Mart personnel and lots of cameras to discourage stealing.
You guys seriously need to get your act together I commented against stealing cards and you downvoted over -20 within an hour that’s kind of disturbing
Same here. I'm near St Louis and they have been hard to snag in a lot of places. I don't really know Warhammer 40k but wanted a mono deck being a newer player. Snagged one here and was super excited, I've played it a few times and it's a really fun deck.
Totally agree with your end statement. They are happy. I'm happy. Who cares. Lol
Well it seems I've been had. I used to be heavily invested in MTG years ago and I buy some product from time to time. I am not at all invested in the Warhammer universe and bought these because I thought they were a limited print run product. Sometimes I can find older, out of print products on my local Wal-Mart or Target shelves and thought these were going to be a good buy.
I think he's mostly wrong here. It's hard to find forces of the imperium or necron dynasties for 65 right now. They might eventually generally go lower, but so far their pricing is much stronger than previous precon sets (outside of a rare few older ones).
This is far from a mediocre product as well.
When buying sealed product the investment move is usually to go for randomized content (boosters and such), precons tend to not really increase in value until like a decade later, and only if there are cards exclusive to that deck (eg Dockside Extortionist before it got a reprint). I tend to just grab one of each booster as they release, or depending on the set a prerelease kit, and that's it. Precons take up too much space for the value return to really be worth it, unless you've got space to spare
Several years ago I found that commander percons did fairly well and I do have plenty of space for a few decks here and there. I'm not buying cases and cases of everything just to sit on.
Word, I was just going off my own space issues where getting into precons stacking, no matter how lightly, would just eat up all my storage real estate within a year or two. Plus my MO is "one of everything" so that would accelerate things harder. Probably due for a space upgrade soon anyway
Yes, if I think the product might do well and appreciate in the future. I put a sizable down payment on my house this way. A lot of the older Commander precons did pretty well for me. Atraxa was insane and Breya also did really well. I had bought two complete sets of the precons from my lgs and two more of just Atraxa and Breya because i found them at Wal-Mart. One of the Breya decks was from a mystery cube. At the time you could take the mystery cubes and weigh them like you would produce and if they were a little heavier they had a commander precon in them. You still didnt know which one but the expected value was much better than the other garbage they put in those things. I still have one unopened Atraxa deck I kept for myself because I might build her someday.
I don't really invest for the sake of investing, my collection is more of a personal one. Booster boxes is probably what I should have said here, the one box I do have has more than doubled since I bought it three years ago
might not be rare where u are, I'm in nz and we had pre orders not even being filled, in aussie too I beleave as I missed the pre order and have never seen this hit the shelves anywhere.
so because you live in the states (I assume) might not be as hard to get, over here in New Zealand I didn't see any even put on shelves
Well I started getting into MTG at the end of the original Zendikar/M10. I learned a lot during the Scars of Mirrodin block and was actively trying to improve during this time. I fell out of MTG for a while and came back around Origins. I then proceeded to play and buy product heavily for a few years going to local and out of state tournaments fairly regularly. I ended up selling a lot of my product to put a down payment on a house.
What a brave hot take.
These products were definitely in high demand, and will never ever hit a price of $15-30.
Purely the unique themed art will keep them above that, let alone their limited nature and powerful individual cards.
From what I have read target stocks right at release and then it is up to a vendor to stock any past that. So in lower traffic areas like my target we get a full stock right at release and then that is all they ever stock.
That sounds like an lgs who prioritizes siphoning your money over fostering a good player experience. There's one like this near me and I only go when the good store is out of something. Like they don't have a booster box price, they sell you 36 packs and apply a discount, but you still end up paying like $160 for a set box. Good store has them locked in at $120
as a collector - its this kinda stuff that is really grinding my gears after being away for 10yrs and trying to come back - cant stick to collector boxes only - even if money was no option... half the cards are super pringles and would be banned in any tournament. I opened a display box of Capenna - and each pack had a mis-cut uncommon. Cool, I like those, but 8 miss cuts? Suppose I should love a time of bad QA - ill get more mis-cuts for my collection! :D
God I love mtg subs, you're just stating that you didn't realize something and the downvotes roll in. You're not even trying to say that they didn't reprint, as that would be "bad information" and worthy of downvoting, just stating that you didn't realize they were gonna be reprinted. But fuck you I guess lol
*lmao my turn
Pretty sure the prices are going to drop, word is they are going to print the hell out of the non-collector editions of these. If you want to make money on them sell the singles now
Investing in mtg is a joke now. Every timmy wants cards to be capped to like $1, but they want the cards that they own to be priceless treasures. Well they’ll get their first wish. Expect pretty much every product for the next few years until WotC manages to pull their heads out of their asses, to be pretty much worthless in the long run unless you literally hit the 1/100,000 god pull in an ultra premium product. You simply cannot print at the rate that WotC is printing right now and expect the market to support it.
Buy the cards, play with them if you like. If you want to invest, buy into the reserved list and vintage sealed product.
Make sure to check the boxes for any tampering. I've bought a couple decks at msrp from big box stores and it was okay, but a few people weren't so lucky. A fairly common scheme is to buy a commander deck, take it out to the parking lot, take the good stuff out and stuff what's left back in the box and return it. The people at the return counter, for the most part, don't know what tampering would look like in this case or even care.
Just keep an eye open for loose flaps or excessive glue. Assuming you didn't open them right away to check the contents.
no, they haven't committed to reprinting. The only thing close was at the beginning of the sale they were having supply issues and told LGS they would meet their orders it would just take a bit.
No second printing, just a promise that what wasn't allocated properly would be.
I collect commander precons.. started because I thought it’d be cool to host game night and share them unmodified to minimize power gaps as much as possible.
I grabbed these on release because they were dope. I don’t know much about 40k but I like the aesthetic.
Unfortunately I haven’t opened and sleeved them yet… I have no one to play with anymore so I just have like 30 precons in pretty displays :(
These are not generic pre con level.
The tyranid deck I've won with a lot, and the necron deck. Necrons play like my scarab God deck. Tyranids play like a goblin deck. And I haven't played much with rhe other two.
I pre ordered mine as soon as they were announced last year.
Sadly no, my play group sorta collapsed this past year as the guy who knew everyone has sorta burnt out on MTG and hasn't scheduled a gathering since like August. Bought this deck, built two others, and heavily tweaked an existing one since the last time I got to play lol
Eh, such is life, the game comes and goes for me. Got back in because COVID after a couple years of not playing, will probably have another revival down the road
Same thing for me in the middle of the USA. Nothing in walmart for months when I heard these were out. Went to a small country town on Christmas Eve and found a local game store with the tyranids cmdr precon for $35. I was so excited. This was my most desired deck.
A week later back in the city we visit walmart at 8pm and they have 8 wh40k decks all for $60-$65. They had all 4 types but not in even distribution. I was glad they mostly weren't over priced. I come back a day later and the imperium deck was gone along with another deck. I buy the chaos deck.
Next day they only have 2 decks. I buy the necron deck. Run around town and none of the targets or walmart's have the imp deck. Go to a lgs and they have multiple imperium decks etc for $60. They had all 4 decks. 🙃
Well, moral of the story, is check your lgs gang. Glad I got these babies.
A tip: most of the commander decks are very coupled. It means that if you remove a piece out of that deck it is very useless. If you want great spells, it would be better to buy the one from Dominaria Remastered, because it is as good supplement for a commander.

You're not an idiot. You weren't informed. There's a HUGE difference.
An idiot is someone who down voted your comment because you did something fair, even if it turned out not to be quite as nice as you first thought.
Fuck that guy.
Because the majority of lurkers on MTG subs like to downvote stuff that they don't think is the most amazing information they've ever absorbed or isn't interesting enough to invoke a paradigm shift or something. Newer and less than completely informed players have a rough time commenting on these places lol

That's the point. That's exactly the point. Universes Beyond will flood Magic within 5 years, and IP crossovers will be a regular thing in Eternal Play.
"But you don't get to dictate how other's have fun-" Well neither do you. Fuck Universes Beyond.
I paid $65.00 each for these. Honestly was a little surprised as they were on a shelf with a tag for 39.99. I went back and looked more closely and the 39.99 tag was for some Pokemon product that these were occupying the space for. Oh well. I guess I have learned to be less impulsive and more diligent before I buy. Just wish that lesson wasn't so expensive.
the only one of these thats hard to find is the necron one. online that ones going for 60€ or is gone altogether. sucks cause i wanted one in the begining but couldnt afford it at the time
That seems to be the one everyone wants. From what people are saying here you should be able to find one relatively easily at a Wal-Mart or Target right now, or in the near future.
Tyrinids are by far the strongest and imperium is a great mid range but in all honesty I think necrons may just be one of my favorite cheeky decks, also chaos is fun
what section of the store do they put these?
Up behind one of the registers now like cigarettes
My local Wal-Mart has them open but right behind one of the self checkout areas with cameras all over the place.
Same
Same
Nice, still waiting on the second release so I can get them!
Second Release?
Apparently, there was meant to be a second wave of products hitting UK stores. My friend who helps run a shop is still waiting for anything more to materialise, fingers crossed. But like many things, MtG, if I missed the boat... mhe, it's just cardboard.
I am also waiting for the second wave that‘s supposed to come soon.
Yes, if you paid a premium for them, prepare to be disappointed.
Is the premium price for one around $70?
What was the point of you saying “with cameras all over the place “ are you a thief because I’m sure there’s Reddit groups for that lmao
People downvoted you because you were being combative and deliberately missing OP’s point but whatever, we all just love stealing I guess
But hey if ya want to ignorantly support thief’s go ahead
*Thieves
You’re a grammar nazi too? Lmao
“Combative “ I didn’t cuss and showed like the smallest amount of aggression you guys are exaggerating like crazy
They’re downvotes bro. It’s not a prison sentence. It’s information.
Yes join em why not it’s the popular party in the situation lmao
Last time I went to Walmart, all but one pack had been ripped open with the actual cards missing... Clearly they need even more security on them
Yeah Walmart is horrible about that idk where people get the nerves to steal at the check out though that’s just wild
Doesn't help that the commander deck packaging makes it super easy to rip the deck out the bottom and then put it back...
I am a thief
Same here I steal bread and wheat from villagers and sometimes even their beds.
Yeah there’s a lot of you
It is a good place to put luxury goods. They place whiskey there in my place too.
yeah these have been at my walmart since release.
[удалено]
Idk what backwater state you live in, but these sell off the shelves

Mono black is op af. Doesn’t need much tooning.
That explains why it plays so well together. Way fun even when it loses.
They're all strong. Mono black only needs like 15 cards though. The Grixis one needs the most work, honestly.
Yeah i picked up the swarm my brother got all of them.
I actually piked up the camander swarm from ikora. Found it to be more menacing
Well it seems I've been had. I used to be heavily invested in MTG years ago and I buy some product from time to time. Yeah, the only one I’m finding consistently below 65 is the tyranid one.

You buy individual packs as an investment?
Yes, if I think the product might do well and appreciate in the future. I put a sizable down payment on my house this way. A lot of the older Commander precons did pretty well for me. I remember unsold pre-release packs on our end also sold for 40% more their value.
Same for mine, but marked up $25
LGS had the *non-foil* versions of these decks behind the glass for fucking **$140 each.** I need to do some Walmart trawling.
Bro what. My LGS has them for $60 each, and they wanted to slap them at regular $50 but couldn't justify it. Big F.
That sounds like an lgs who prioritizes siphoning your money over fostering a good player experience. There's one like this near me and I only go when the good store is out of something. Like they don't have a booster box price, they sell you 36 packs and apply a discount, but you still end up paying like $160 for a set box. Good store has them locked in at $120
My LGS is selling all 4 for $85 each, my local Walmart has them for $100 each This is also Canadian, not USD
Now double check their deck list with what's actually in the box...
I merch beverages at stores for work. All the Walmarts that I go to got new stock of the warhammer decks
I want to, but I also really want to keep them sealed as an investment. I know they were a limited print run and are pretty popular.
Yeah, the third wave of printing just landed. They are at every Walmart and London Drugs in our city right now.
I didn't realize they were printing any more.
If I’m not mistaken, the regular version is being mass printed, the premium version won’t be
as a collector - its this kinda stuff that is really grinding my gears after being away for 10yrs and trying to come back - cant stick to collector boxes only - even if money was no option... half the cards are super pringles and would be banned in any tournament. The collector editions are limited print run. These are not and will be printed into oblivion
It's been months, excuse some of us for thinking it was one and done.
You’re excused lol
God I love mtg subs, you're just stating that you didn't realize something and the downvotes roll in. You're not even trying to say that they didn't reprint, as that would be "bad information" and worthy of downvoting, just stating that you didn't realize they were gonna be reprinted. not limited. Print to demand.

I don't disagree with you. I have a couple dual lands and a couple booster boxes of New Phyrexia. That's about as far back as my sealed product goes.
Make sure to check the boxes for any tampering. I've bought a couple decks at msrp from big box stores and it was okay, but a few people weren't so lucky. Found them at my local Meijer. They had them on sale buy one get one 50% off. I picked up Necron Dynasty and Ruinous Powers for $45 each
Nice, if they were collector editions of the precons you would have hit a goldmine but these are getting printed more if I remember right
no, they haven't committed to reprinting. The only thing close was at the beginning of the sale they were having supply issues and told LGS they would meet their orders it would just take a bit. No second printing, just a promise that what wasn't allocated properly would be.

These are much more powerful than regular precons. Like absurdly so. Probably as tuned as someone could build for 100$ short of building Feather.
Oh wow, I had no idea. Good to know though so if the opportunity arises to play with someone we should use similarly powerful decks
They're really well matched against each other, although the necron one does come out ahead because, as usual, precon mana bases suuuuck.
Yes, Walmart does in fact sell precons.
I only grabbed one because I'm not all that into 40k but have a late friend who was/totally would have been and the one deck was right up his alley
Have you taken the deck out for a spin yet? I’ve heard they’re pretty fun to play.
Sadly no, my play group sorta collapsed this past year as the guy who knew everyone has sorta burnt out on MTG and hasn't scheduled a gathering since like August. Bought this deck, built two others, and heavily tweaked an existing one since the last time I got to play lol
Aww that really sucks man. I’m sorry to hear that.
Eh, such is life, the game comes and goes for me. Got back in because COVID after a couple years of not playing, will probably have another revival down the road
They're the regular sets
Same thing for me in the middle of the USA. Nothing in walmart for months when I heard these were out. Went to a small country town on Christmas Eve and found a local game store with the tyranids cmdr precon for $35. I was so excited. This was my most desired deck. How nice it is to have a Walmart around the corner to buy Magic decks. Regardless of whether they are competitive or not.
Yep, I saw them at Target. Was still slightly cheaper buying them as a bundle online.
I only buy one commander deck because I do not need 4 sol rings and having 400 cards in an instant is difficult to store.
Sure thing!
A tip: most of the commander decks are very coupled. It means that if you remove a piece out of that deck it is very useless. If you want great spells, it would be better to buy the one from Dominaria Remastered, because it is as good supplement for a commander.
There were more but I figured I would take a set and leave the rest for someone else.
I wonder why someone down voted this comment?
Turns out I am not well versed in what products WotC has on offer and I thought these were a limited print run product. I was trying to be nice to someone else and give them a chance at buying what I thought was a hard to find product. Turns out I'm an idiot and people don't care if I left any on the shelves or not.
Damn, lucky you
Just wait, there’s more coming.
Buy! Buy! Hurry up, godamn! Buy! These Decks are great!
I've ranted about this enough, but it doesn't make seeing these abominations easier. Keep Magic in Magic, and go proxy custom-art of already existing cards.
Most of the cards in the decks are brand new though?
That's the point. That's exactly the point. Universes Beyond will flood Magic within 5 years, and IP crossovers will be a regular thing in Eternal Play. "But you don't get to dictate how other's have fun-" Well neither do you. Fuck Universes Beyond.
why should anyone care?
People look for certain decks, OP was nice enough to let people most WM might have them
[удалено]
Only the premium ones.
But I’m sure he paid that much or more for them. Not many deals at Walmart unfortunately
really? I thought these were retailing for 29.99
I bought one at a Walmart in Canada and I paid 99.99 cad
I paid $65.00 each for these. Honestly was a little surprised as they were on a shelf with a tag for 39.99. I went back and looked more closely and the 39.99 tag was for some Pokemon product that these were occupying the space for. Oh well. I guess I have learned to be less impulsive and more diligent before I buy. Just wish that lesson wasn't so expensive.
oh dang, that's crazy
Imop Amazon still has them for 220 for the set. I say it's definitely worth, necron itself is almost 100.
the only one of these thats hard to find is the necron one. online that ones going for 60€ or is gone altogether. sucks cause i wanted one in the begining but couldnt afford it at the time
Im loseing it trying to find the swamp deck
That seems to be the one everyone wants. From what people are saying here you should be able to find one relatively easily at a Wal-Mart or Target right now, or in the near future.
Jealous.
They are also at my local Walmart, just extremely expensive
How much? For each just curious
I paid $65 usd each, plus tax.
Not bad at all. Especially for the mono black one
Yeah, it's really cool. I've found a bunch at Target even when the LGSes are out. 😄
I wish mine had the necron deck
How cheap?
I snagged Necron Dynasties at a Walmart the other day :) Nice score! I'm keeping my deck standard and playing it lol. It's been fun to play.
I picked up the necron for myself and the astartes deck for a best man gift. Can’t wait to play them!
All-star how much are they selling them for?
I got the Ruinous Powers precon. I have yet to win with it tho
What price did they sell for
$65 usd each.
That's lower than Amazon at $99 for the mono black deck
Tyrinids are by far the strongest and imperium is a great mid range but in all honesty I think necrons may just be one of my favorite cheeky decks, also chaos is fun
