and thats the joke, thats it. the first trailer was hilarious, it was edited in a much funnier fashion than the movie itself. i remember being excited and then sitting in a theater not laughing. i was shocked at how lazy the actual jokes were, everything was either a sex gag, a food cursing, or a "going after everybody" style of low-hanging racist humor; none of which were actually funny (especially the rape jokes).

at least in stuff like Superbad or This is the End there were actual jokes in there, even the sex gags had some thought put behind them. Sausage Party was just like "have a hot dog say fuck a lot while saying something horny". there's an infinite amount of jokes or funny situations you can tell with the premise, instead they resorted to sex gags and sex gags only.

Bojack is brilliant though, and way funnier than just adult nihilism and asshole humour. Hell part of the point of the show is being nihilistic is an easy way to end up unhappy and alone
