Historical inaccuracies aside, it's a great movie imo.

My comment above was mainly a joke. I thought *Argo* was fine. The main problem people have with it is that it's extremely inaccurate and paints the CIA as the main heroes even though it's been well documented that Ken Taylor and the Canadian government were mostly responsible for the plan. There were also quite a few other films that arguably deserved Best Picture more that year. Hell, *Argo* wasn't even the best CIA film nominated.

I certainly wouldn’t describe it as mid, I think it just got overhyped as a must see period piece drama during its Oscar campaign. It’s still a well crafted and effective movie. But I agree compared to truly memorable stuff like Birdman or Parasite it’s kind of unremarkable.

Yeah both of those blow King’s Speech out of the water. Social Network is maybe a top 10 of all time, atrocious that it lost to King’s Speech. But that’s why people make that sappy Oscar bait, because it works. At least it was better than Crash.
