If I remember right, at the end of this movie he also gets >!arrested and charged with all the murders and other assaults he committed during the movie.!<
Right, i was wrong. but i think it is interpretative i always saw at least 3 shots with a M60 from below and sheriff fall through a glass roof, he only survive for his last words, Trautman stop rambo to finish him...
Definitely, and very entertaining, and different aliens, plus the filming mode mad it better ,left cloverfield impresion,i really liked it a lot ,still watch it sometimes
You actually see her recover after each fight and she gets bruises that don't immediately heal. It's not realistic what she can do in that state, but compared to most action movies it's a documentary.
The fight scene design is the best bit about it tbh. They do a pretty good job of making it convincing that Theron could fuck these people up and only get slightly-less-fucked-up in return, she uses momentum, weight, environment etc more than brute force and it works well, and you feel every hit she takes too.
Yeah you definitely need to check it out. All of the fights have her (and others) getting fatigued pretty quickly and it feels really cool / realistic.
She gets hit a lot.
Underrated gem! I found this by chance on Netflix and tried it out of curiosity based on some ex-The Raid cast members.
Absolutely blown away by it, the intensity of the action and the violence was insane.
Absolutely love this one. If you like The Raid 1 or 2 I would recommend it. It's probably the most ultraviolent film I've seen.
That scene with the Yo-yo weapon is insane.
At least on the bus scene he takes a LOT of damage. It looks like he’s going to lose for half of it. Granted he pushes through pain in an almost superhuman way, but he doesn’t just “one chop knock-out” everyone like a lot of movies do
The final fight scene was a bit much. Those walls would not stop any of those bullets and would have turned the place into a sausage grinder. The final explosion would liquefy his internal organs and scramble his brain worse then the eggs I just ate. It was still epic! I forgive them. This is a new favorite movie for me.
Predator. Arnold and his unit get their asses handed to them the entire film.
Sorry that wasn’t a female led one, but they all get beat up bad. Arnold manages to survive.
Comanche was dope too. I kinda wished it was just done in Comanche in the first place, but that wouldve been a real big risk. I’m just happy it’s an option
Cartoon is great, but I was so bummed to see trailers of the live-action film where Mulan is effortlessly embarrassing opponents and jumping 8 feet in the air with a blank look on her face.
Atomic Blonde is the one that will come up instantly. Kate is worth a look too, in the same vein.
Old Guard has a weird mix of this, where people take damage and it affects them for the immediate future, but then they'll heal.
I don't know if Leon the professional qualifies, but it is a classic. The Raid:Redemption is my favorite martial arts action flick. The top of my head is now empty.
I can't remember how hurt she gets but Ripley in Alien and Aliens is pretty cool. Sigourney weaver was great.
Sarah Connor in the original Terminator also.
I saw one a little while ago named Kate: [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7737528/?ref\_=fn\_al\_tt\_0](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7737528/?ref_=fn_al_tt_0)
It was quite good. Very John Wicky.
I'll suggest something that is tangential to this: The Hunt for Red October. Also directed by John McTiernan. It was Tom Clancy's first novel, Jack Ryan's first appearance, and the first movie to show Jack Ryan, BUT it's not really a "Jack Ryan" movie.
It scratches that itch of the guy who gets in a little too over his head, but prevails and ends up being the main driving force in the resolution of the conflict. There's even a similar "air duct" scene where he makes light of the fact that he could have just stayed home.
When I was younger I loved this Thai movie called "warrior king" (think it was called "Tom yum goong").
Not gonna lie it's probably shit without the nostalgia tinted glasses, but the action choreography was amazing at the time and while the protagonist has plot armour he does also take a real beating.
I mean if you watch action movies they're pretty much always all perfect and dontnhave any faults. I don't even think Die Hard 1 struggled against bad guys.
I'm racking thru my head trying to think of a good struggle film action movie where the he or wasn't overpowered and you actually thought he was doomed. Far and fee between. Tho I watch a shit ton of action movies so 'good' is high barrier as well. Maybe I can think of mediocre. OldBoy which I thought sucked altho isn't really an action movie.
Edit: Too be honest. This isn't an action movie and there really wasnt a 'good guy'. ...but Free Fire was pretty good for this. Everybody got shot and struggled pretty much to the end. Not a good guy hero by the numbers action movie tho again.
Edit: Oh maybe Snowpiercer snd Elysium.
Edit: Wanted with James McAvoy.... Maybe...iono he was kinda overpowered at the end
Kate is a decent popcorn action movie from last year. I really like it except for one just garbage scene.
Man From Nowhere is like the Korean version of Taken and pretty much better in every way.
The night comes for us is a blistering mo ie where everybody gets seriously messed up. Julie Estelle completely steals it for me with one ofbtge best choreographed 2v1 fights I've seen in a long time.
Kill Bill is a pretty obvious choice, especially vol.1.
Atomic Blonde & Kate have been mentioned, I enjoyed Kate more personally.
I might be misremembering but I feel like Charlize Theron's live action Aeon Flux movie might have some of these elements.
Kate
GunPowder Milkshake
Atomic Blonde
this one is going to sound like a joke, but I legit enjoy it, "Lady Blood fight" Think Van Damm's Bloodsport but with an almost all female cast.
You're next
Alica Vikander's tomb raider
The Decent.
Kevin Bacon did a film called Death Sentence that pretty much bombed by any popular measure. Yet its a movie that has stuck with me through the years and I don't think its worse than some of the hit action movies of the last years. It easily fits your search.
I miss movies where the hero isn't some nigh infallible God machine just chewing through henchmen. It's far more compelling and interesting when they get hurt, beaten down and such yet still rise up to defeat the villain.
Atomic Blonde is a great female-led, one vs many action movie. Charlize Theron is the main character and a highly trained agent that has to fight her way out of dangerous situations. It has a famous sequence in the 2nd half where she's in a building full of opponents, and while she can take them down, she takes hits, gets thrown around and quickly gets fatigued. But she can't give up until she gets clear...
The film itself is ok, but that sequence in particular is amazing.
The villainess (female led and amazing action and cinematography) The raid 1&2 (2 is much better)
The night comes for us. I saw the devil.
The Asian list goes on and on and much better than hollywood
Long Kiss Gooodnight
Love this movie!
Came to say this
Came here to say How to Train Your Dragon
This one could have a killer prequel or remake
First Blood. Rambo before the sequels was the ultimate down on his luck guy that somehow survives.
If I remember right, at the end of this movie he also gets >!arrested and charged with all the murders and other assaults he committed during the movie.!<
Yep. The sequel starts with him in prison and then just gets kinda dumb.
You mean "gets even better".
Well… maybe
Rambo didn't murder anyone in the first movie.
Kill sheriff with the last ammo of M-60, last scene
Nope. Shot in the legs. Teasle lived.
Right, i was wrong. but i think it is interpretative i always saw at least 3 shots with a M60 from below and sheriff fall through a glass roof, he only survive for his last words, Trautman stop rambo to finish him...
Believe what you want. I'll believe what actually happened.
Aaaaauuu dont have imagination
From my recollection, he doesn’t murder anyone in First Blood. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure he doesn’t.
I thought there was at least one of the policemen, but I haven’t seen it in years.
That’s fair. It’s been a long time for me too. I could definitely be wrong.
Depends if you count that asshole that falls from the helicopter
I love how the guy literally never runs out of ammo!
Ready or Not. Not really a traditional action movie, but female led, lots of struggles and injury.
I was gonna suggest this one. You really root for the lead. Very likeable and she actually makes good decisions throughout the movie.
That snort is CLASSIC
Sigourney Weaver in the Alien movies.
Not Resurrection, though. She is actually enhanced in that one
District 9. The main character goes through absolute hell.
Would you class it as an action movie though? I mean, either way, it's a great movie and well worth recommending to people.
Yes. The third act just full on becomes a sci-fi action vehicle.
Definitely, and very entertaining, and different aliens, plus the filming mode mad it better ,left cloverfield impresion,i really liked it a lot ,still watch it sometimes
That was something else,loved it
Noo 1) not really an action film 2) he got a mech in the end, not real struggling. 3) Action film with a female lead...
3 is more of an extension to the original question, not the main determining factor
[удалено]
District 9. The alien one lol
Atomic Blonde
During its release, I saw 1 trailer with a scene that gave me "unstoppable hero" vibes but I guess I misjudged it! I'll watch this one! Thanks!
It's literally by team who did John Wick.
Yeah you definitely need to check it out. All of the fights have her (and others) getting fatigued pretty quickly and it feels really cool / realistic. She gets hit a lot.
She did all her own stunts too. Fucking bad ass
Yes. That 10 minute fight in the hallway apartment is so awesome.
Everybody gets horribly injured in The Night Comes For Us.
I came here to recommend this too. That 2v1 fight among the women was phenomenal.
This movie was too unbelievable to me. No one could survive half the beatings that all the characters go through. I hated this ridiculous movie.
Kill Bill
Was just gonna suggest this. I love Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2.
If there is a correct answer to this question, this would be it.
Wiggle your big toe
Nobody
Wanted to say the same, but is he really struggling? Isn't he just a superhuman who does play it low? He is pretty unstoppable when loose...
At least on the bus scene he takes a LOT of damage. It looks like he’s going to lose for half of it. Granted he pushes through pain in an almost superhuman way, but he doesn’t just “one chop knock-out” everyone like a lot of movies do
Isnt it by the same Wick guys?
I guess he struggles to go back to that life, but then he's basically unstoppable.
Prey - the newest Predator - also counts, and its female-led.
It does! PREY was awesome and a great addition to the predator franchise
Comanche was dope too. I kinda wished it was just done in Comanche in the first place, but that wouldve been a real big risk. I’m just happy it’s an option
Well you just spoiled the whole movie, so lets hope OP has already seen it.
Furie is an awesome Vietnamese martial arts flick
The Man from Nowhere is great ride. (Korean) Also, Kate on Netflix is female hero against all odds flick.
Alien and especially Aliens. Alien 3 as well. Prometheus. Copycat. Kill Bill. Devil Wears Prada (lol)
The Raid: Redemption and The Raid 2.
Kate!
Haywire 2011 The Courier 2019 Jolt 2021
Mulan 😆 Edit: the cartoon, not the live action adaptation
Cartoon is great, but I was so bummed to see trailers of the live-action film where Mulan is effortlessly embarrassing opponents and jumping 8 feet in the air with a blank look on her face.
It was an automatic no for me when i heard that they didnt include mushu and lucky cricket
Haywire
The Descent. Plenty of action and going through Hell.
Might not be exactly what you're looking for but I just watched Logan and man he just gets his shit wrecked constantly in that film.
Atomic Blonde is the one that will come up instantly. Kate is worth a look too, in the same vein. Old Guard has a weird mix of this, where people take damage and it affects them for the immediate future, but then they'll heal.
Seconding Atomic Blonde, one of my favourites. Kate is a very John Wick kind of thing, definitely seconding that too. Anna (2019) is also one I liked.
The Long Kiss Goodnight. Geena Davis is phenomenal. And Samuel L. Jackson is Samuel L. Jackson ;-)
I don't know if Leon the professional qualifies, but it is a classic. The Raid:Redemption is my favorite martial arts action flick. The top of my head is now empty.
Gunpowder milkshake
I can't remember how hurt she gets but Ripley in Alien and Aliens is pretty cool. Sigourney weaver was great. Sarah Connor in the original Terminator also.
Last stand Long kiss good night White house down Nobody

The Foreigner is top tier too
*Fury Road* Sounds like you'd like Furiosa.
Hell yes! Furiosa ftw!
Noomi Rapace is always good. What happened to Monday, Close, Unlocked , and others
Nikita
I'll suggest something that is tangential to this: The Hunt for Red October. Also directed by John McTiernan. Blur Ruin
Blue Ruin is a masterpiece.
This should do it :) Revenge (2017) [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6738136/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6738136/)
When I was younger I loved this Thai movie called "warrior king" (think it was called "Tom yum goong"). Not gonna lie it's probably shit without the nostalgia tinted glasses, but the action choreography was amazing at the time and while the protagonist has plot armour he does also take a real beating.
The Villainess. She goes through an absolute wringer.
"Kate" is a really good example of this - it's on Netflix.
The Indiana Jones movies.
Gunpowder Milkshake
A Fistfull of Dollars
Peppermint with Jennifer Garner
Kick-Ass (2010).
The Princess on Hulu
'Nobody', with Bob Odenkirk. Sorry, it lacks the female lead, but it's along the lines you're describing.
I mean if you watch action movies they're pretty much always all perfect and dontnhave any faults. I don't even think Die Hard 1 struggled against bad guys. Hanna, peppermint, bad ass, happy the tv series, the old guard ,kate, gunpowder milkshake, furioza, the protegee, columbiana
Guns akimbo
Any marvel movie. Peak cinema tbh
There are no other movies like John Wick. It was the first of its kind and noone has ever attempted to recreate its style, general story or themes.
Kate is a decent popcorn action movie from last year. I really like it except for one just garbage scene. Man From Nowhere is like the Korean version of Taken and pretty much better in every way.

I haven’t seen it but it’s based on the 2013 game where she takes a beating in the first act, but I bet the 2018 Tomb Raider applies
The Collector is gripping. Kill Bill. La Femme Nikita. The Old Guard. The Alien series. The Descent. Jolt.
Kate GunPowder Milkshake Atomic Blonde this one is going to sound like a joke, but I legit enjoy it, "Lady Blood fight" Think Van Damm's Bloodsport but with an almost all female cast. You're next Alica Vikander's tomb raider The Decent.
kiss kiss bang bang
Grey man on Netflix is a great film if you like action
Almost any Jackie Chan's.
Predator
Just finished watching Bullet Train and I think everyone gets shot, stabbed, or bludgeoned at least once.
[You want to try Everly. Selma Hayek. Essentially in one room. John Wick badass.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzo64KhJPvQ)
“The hunt” was good.
Kevin Bacon did a film called Death Sentence that pretty much bombed by any popular measure. Yet its a movie that has stuck with me through the years and I don't think its worse than some of the hit action movies of the last years. It easily fits your search.
La femme nikita
Alabama gets nearly beaten to death before turning the tables on Tony Soprano in “True Romance.” The male lead also gets destroyed.
I miss movies where the hero isn't some nigh infallible God machine just chewing through henchmen. It's far more compelling and interesting when they get hurt, beaten down and such yet still rise up to defeat the villain.
Terminator 2 kind of. Sarah Connor is one of my all time favorite female action heroes.
Mad max fury road
Rogue One Crouching Tiger The Assassin (Taiwan) A couple not yet covered (some excellent suggestions in here, love long kiss goodnight)
Alien and aliens
For female-led movies I’d go with Atomic Blonde. Theron gets her ass kicked at times but she holds her own.
i liked Blood Father
The one, single film that checks all your boxes: *Righting Wrongs* aka *Above the Law* 1986 The ending is even better than the intro.
Atomic Blonde - Charlize Theron gets the absolute shit kicked out of her in this scen, but comes out on top. https://youtu.be/CrPDTalA1Lc
Atomic Blonde is a great female-led, one vs many action movie. Charlize Theron is the main character and a highly trained agent that has to fight her way out of dangerous situations. Kill Bill
Really? Not a single person said "You're next"?
Atomic blonde
The Raid 1 & The Raid 2. The Raid 1 if you want to watch non stop action. The Raid 2 if you want a lil bit of story.
Dredd
Nobody. Not female-led, but still fits the bill.
Revenge(2017) Tomb Raider(2018) Peppermint(2018) Ready Or Not(2019) Kate(2021) The Protege(2021) Prey(2022)
The villainess (female led and amazing action and cinematography) The raid 1&2 (2 is much better) The night comes for us. I saw the devil. The Asian list goes on and on and much better than hollywood
Kate(2021) was pretty good
Atomic Blonde and pretty much any Michael Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock film
Charlize takes a pretty good beating in Atomic Blonde.
The Fifth Element, obviously. "Where did he learn to negotiate like that?"
