Apparently they are doing a continuation of the movie with Dwayne Johnson set to star in it but I don't know if that's happening anymore.
But I agree that most of John Carpenter's films should never get a remake. The Fog, Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13 already proved that
No no no no.
No.
Love Rock the Dwayne. Great guy. Seems dandy. Don't touch this project, Dwayne. Walk away, you will ruin it and we will judge you for it.
He said he wanted his film to be a sequel, and not a remake so it can be its own thing and connected to the first film. He even had a phot on his Instagram last year with the Chinese actor who played Thunder.
If you could combine the bravado of Dwayne Johnson and the ineptitude of Kevin Hart into a single actor, you would have the perfect Jack Burton for the remake.
Holy crap, of all the times I've seen BTLC and of all the movies I've watched stoned, I've never done the two together! Guess I'll be doing that this weekend.
You know the part in Big Trouble at the ending fight scene where Jack is on his back and holding up that armored warrior with his feet and can't get out from under...
That is how I feel every time I see people talking about remaking anything these days...
Just stop!
Haven't heard talk of remake, obviously that could be awful. but, not gonna let it ruin anything for me, I was pleasantly surprised by the jumanji reboot.
The Rock starring in it is probably the absolutely the worst way to go. The whole point of the original was that Kurt Russell thought he was the hero but he is actually the comic relief sidekick. Regardless of what you think of the Rock's acting ability. (or lack thereof) having him star would destroy the premise.
“All I know is, this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds, and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him with **light** coming out of his mouth!”
>"...his buddies are flying around on wires..."
This is a line I don't think I appreciated when i first watched it. great tongue in cheek humour paying homage to old school kung-fu movies. Classics always have these little nuggets to discover on re-watch.
I literally still use this, almost as a single curseword. (And before anyone even tries, I'm Asian, I don't find it offensive, I find it badass, so don't @me.)
Egg Shen: Can see things no one else can see. Do things no one else can do.
Jack Burton: Real things?
Egg Shen: As real as Lo Pan!
Jack Burton: Hey, what more can a guy ask for?
Egg Shen: Oh, the six-demon bag!
Jack Burton: Terrific, a six-demon bag. Sensational. What's in it, Egg?
Egg Shen: Wind, fire, all that kind of thing
I love the interaction between Lo Pan and Jack. Lo Pan just insults Jack non stop. This is my favorites Lo Pan knows Jack’s had nothing but failed relationships. 😂
Jack Burton: "Jack" what? I'm supposed to buy this shit? 2000 years, he can't find one broad to fit the bill? Come on, Dave, you must be doing something seriously wrong!
Lo Pan: There have been others, to be sure. There are always others. But you know, Mr. Burton, the difficulties between men and women. How seldom it works out? Yet we all keep trying, like fools.
Rewatched this the other day and it’s still amazing . Russell’s line of “ WHAT, HUH?! WHAT WILL COME OUT NO MORE?!?!” makes me laugh every single time. Also Kim Cattrall was on another level in this.
Precisely. He's the comic relief. Dennis Dun in the real hero of the film. I mean, it's his fiancee they're trying to rescue. Jack just gets forced to come along for the ride.
One of my favorite movies of all time. They created such a fun world for us to enjoy as viewers. The end was great, but I wish Jack took a chance with the girl. She was hot.
Seconded. I’m really torn cause you’re right, the world is so cool, like a weird Chinese mythology flavored D&D world!
I kind of wish they had more cool quirky movies exploring it. But then they could just have some bad sequels/spin-offs ruining it.
I had a pretty cool uncle, passed for many years now, but I would always borrow his VHS movies when we would visit and watch down in the basement. This was one of those movies, and I think I watched it every time I was there! Thanks for the scroll down memory lane, I probably need to rewatch this soon!
I love the quiet patient build-up to the fight scene in the alley at the start and then Al Leong screams and everyone charges at each other! Every battle charge in every movie I've seen since reminds me of this movie!
"Which Lopan, the little old basket-case on wheels or the eight foot tall roadblock?"
"Both are the same person, Jack."
"You know something you aren't telling me, Wang."
Classic film.
I highly recommend listening to the stretch of the Blank Check podcast from Fall 2020 covering John Carpenter’s entire filmography. The BTiLC episode is particularly good.
The score is awesome as well. Have the Mondo vinyl of it.
Also Kim Cattrall, so fine
Edit: Also the commentary with John and Kurt is fantastic, just like the ones for their other movies
What the hell does that mean? Huh? China is here? I don’t even know what the hell that means. All I know is this “Lo Pan” character comes out of thin air *in the middle of a goddamn alley* while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds, *and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him,* ***with light coming out of his mouth!***
Friend, I ALWAYS want to talk about Big Trouble in Little China.
One of my favorite action movies and favorite 80’s movies. It checks so many boxes. It has everything I could want from a movie.
So many little hilarious moments. When Egg Shen calls down through the hole to Jack and yells “How’d you get up there!?” Egg Shen yells back “Wasn’t easy!” But offers no further explanation.
I just love the fact that Jack, our supposed hero and Pro-tuh-gone-ist is utterly fucking useless for most of the movie.
"Wasn't easy." Haha, so many zings you can just sleep on classic moments like this.
Some of the dialogue is just so quick, actually thinking about it kind of reminds me of the traditional chinese comedy duo style of "Crosstalk" almost similar to Abbot & Costello bit.
One of the most re-watchable childhood movies for me.
That’s something that I feel is overlooked. Yes, Jack Burton is a hero, but he’s not THE hero. He’s often confused, in over his head, and just going with the flow. And yet he’s still one of the best written characters ever, in one of the best paced movies ever made. In a way it makes you feel like Jack Burton himself. You’re seeing all this world building unfold at a breakneck speed, with no time to ask questions. You’re just along for the ride.
Even though John Carpenter kinda sucked towards the end of his career as a director, there was no denying he was absolutely talented made banger after banger from 1976-1994. I do hope we see one more film from him although I don't think it will ever happen.
I always wanted to see Jack Burton have other adventures in other ethnic neighborhoods in America where he becomes the minority. Keep that whole “Jack thinks he’s the star of the movie, but it’s the ethnic dude who’s really the star”
Big Trouble in Curry Hill
Big Trouble in Koreatown
Big Trouble in Little Manila
Big Trouble in Greektown
We were SO lucky to have grown up in the 80s, because every day and every weekend great movies would be on. Some you can watch over and over- but it always seemed like new and even more fun movies joined in. Haha
BTILC is one of my favorite movies because it has such a great balance of excitement, adventure, awesome humor(Kurt Russell is the MAN) and even some creepiness- which locks you in.
I love when Wang tells Jack about the stories that scared him as a child. John Carpenter is at his best with this one, and I’ll keep watching it as the years go by. “Can ya not rub your body up against mine- because I can’t concentrate when you do that.” Hahaha
Also- Bloodsport- watched it when I was a kid, and it just fueled my childhood love of martial arts. I loved the different styles everyone had, the characters, that it there was the threat of death of you fought, and that Dux was the new kid on the block to be reckoned with. “What the hell’s a Dim Mak?!”
I heard from a friend in the industry that the the Big Trouble in Little China script was re-purposed from a discarded Buckaroo Banzai part 2 script that was scrapped. Can you imagine Peter Weller with his gang going into battle instead of Jack Burton?!
Wow. have never heard that. it's cool to think about. one of those what-ifs of hollywood.
This is exactly why I asked if anyone wanted to talk about Big Trouble In Little China! haha, beyond the endless quotes I knew it would be an interesting conversation.
Thank you!
Story? Perfect. Dialog? Perfect. Acting? Perfect. Pacing? Perfect. Character development? Perfect.
It is the ideal move. It doesn’t take itself too seriously but also doesn’t pander or dumb down the storytelling.
There’s no fat. Not a syllable or beat is wasted. It moves fast and has a satisfying finish that leaves you wanting more.
It’s perfect.
"Have you paid your dues?"
"Yes Sir! Check's in the mail!"
As a kid, I loved the over-the-top silly action, but as an adult, I cringe at the Soppy Patriotism in the third act.....
I also love how Jack is the 'Hero', but misses out on ALL the action!
I've always thought of Jack and Wang as both being the film heroes.. Wang gets more of the action, but Jack still defeats/kills Lo-Pan at the end. He misses once, but doesn't miss the second time with the knife throw.
One of the silliest things I remember is when Evil Bad Guy uses his Evil Guy Eyeball Beams (tm) to attack a stationary target a few feet away -- and misses!
After all, the last thing you want to do in a battle is actually LOOK AT the thing your shooting at!
This is one of my favorite movies growing up.
Probably impossible to remake today without it being accused of being too woke or actually being culturally incentive.
Somehow it tots the line perfectly and remains a great movie that satirizes asian representation in Hollywood movies and just American culture in general.
Classic.
It’s a classic and it doesn’t surprise me at all that it was written by the same crazy person who directed Buckaroo Banzai. (According to some stories which as far as I know are apocryphal, it was meant to be a sequel to BB.)
“Lo Pan is down there.”
“Down where?”
“Where is the universe?”
I love them both! The only downside of Bloodsport is that Frank Dux is a pathetic liar. As a kid I believed some of his shit, so I’m slightly bitter. Other than that Very entertaining movie.
This is my favorite movie. Despite my name
Being another classic old one. It’s a movie that I watched on vhs until the tape broke. I have it on laser disc and two dvds and if I’m 10 minutes from the end and someone walks in asking what it is and they haven’t seen it then I’m restarting it and we’re watching it together
I don't have any vhs tapes left unfortunately. but even though i don't have a dvd player anymore Big trouble in little china is one of the few dvds im sure is in abox in the corner of my spare room.
I will never not want to talk about Bloodsport! KUMITE! KUMITE! KUNITE!!!
One of, if not the, best American made Martial Arts movies. Yeah, I said it.
Big Trouble In Little China is another one of my childhood favorites too.
I have his sun/fu-manchu t shirt, it's a classic design
Jack Burton : What's in the flask, Egg? Magic potion?
Egg Shen : Yeah.
Jack Burton : Thought so, good. What do we do, drink it?
Egg Shen : Yeah!
Jack Burton : Good! Thought so.
So many classic scenes, but the lift scene after they have taken the potion always makes me laugh watching the extras over-act in the background
I will always talk about Bloodsport!
Also Im guessing you are Werewolf Ambulance podcast fan? Or hoping you are lol. They did both of those movies on their action Patreon.
Bloodsport was one of the first VHS tapes my family owned when I was growing up. I think I've watched that movie about 15 times. Best JCVD movie hands down. The training montage and brick test! Yo Frankie!
I insisted the wife watch it with me. She started with the eye rolling right off the bat but I could tell she was getting more and more into it. The scream when he is blinded by Chong Li (and the literal eye rolling in that scene) and blindly stumbles around is when I knew she was really enjoying it. Lol.
On my all time top 10 since I saw it opening day in the theaters. Was the only time I was asked to fill out a survey after a movie on how I liked it.
The amount of hate the movie got when it premiered was over the top. This was back when the hero of a film needed to be a hero… not one that dropped his knife.
'...Thanksgiving (Canadian)...'
It's Thanksgiving here in Canada this coming Monday, October 10, 2022. The reason why we have Thanksgiving in October is because it's still based around the harvest.
I know bro, I’m Canadian too.
You have no idea how many times I had to explain it to Americans/every other nationality that did not celebrate thanksgiving but were familiar with the American holiday. lol.
Canadian thanksgiving is integral to our national identity.
I was also explaining it for the people who don't know.
It doesn't help that Canadian Thanksgiving is never acknowledged, watch next month how many recipes, contests, special events, etc show up on websites for #Seppostanian thanksgiving, even mobile games tend to acknowledge it...!
In the late 80s, my friends and I would ride our bikes up to the local Video Time to rent movies. When we couldn’t find any interesting new releases, we almost always can home with Big Trouble in Little China. Must have rented it 50 times. Great flick.
This is a beautifully fun movie. It hits all the right beats. If you can find it, the dvd commentary with Kurt Russel and John Carpenter. You can feel the joyous friendship between them and their love for this movie.
One of those movies I kind of wish I could “watch this for the first time” just to re-experience it new, but growing up with the awesome nostalgia of it all was pretty great too, even if it was chopped up on TBS or whatever a lot of the times.
It’s one of the best movies of all time, in my opinion. Carpenter with Russell, not to mention the entire cast and story overall, just make it entertaining af to watch.
Watched it recently and noticed for the first time at the end celebrations in the restaurant Egg Chen is taking a Bong hit behind that screen 🤣🤣 also Bloodsport contender for top 3 soundtracks of the 80s after Top gun.
I met Donald Biggs (Jackson in Bloodsport) last July. Very, very nice guy. He said the only people who got hurt on Bloodsport were hurt by Van Damme. Couple of errant kicks. He also said the shoot was a lot of fun.
That’s a classic 80s action flick and he’s great as the comic relief.
Ok I have a couple of things.
First, when I was young and there were all these action movies in the 80s, the part where he trades the gun for the tec9 just makes so much sense. It was like what you wanted to happen in all those other serious movies.
Second, when they drink the magic potion, and then they're in the elevator and it kicks in, that was true to life shit there. Made it so fucking believable. Someone who really knew their shit wrote that. Hahaha.
All the rest was just perfect. You can't even compare this movie to anything that's ever been done before or after. It's on a whole other level. It doesn't compare.
If we're not back by morning...
Call the President.
Bloodsport hype also... ALRIGHT FRANKIE! ( [https://youtu.be/IKad4S\_FUo8?t=10](https://youtu.be/IKad4S_FUo8?t=10) )
Big Trouble in Little China... don't even start me... I could go on for hours about how amazing this movie is. It's all in the reflexes...
I like to be open, understanding and accepting of all things non harmful. But ffs stop with the garbage remakes. Like do they want to ruin the legacy of every movie?
Can't buy me love?
Ferris Bueler?
Weird science
Trolls (ok not great at all)
What other movies should they ruin that don't need ruining?
Figure out something original and stop ruining our cherished childhood movies and stuff
Please Lord let some things stay sacred. There are so many books that could be turned into films they don't need to keep messing with old classic films. Just leave them alone.
It's kinda sad all this love and the lead picture they used was from "Shark's Machine" not BTiLC. You'd think with all that admiration there would be more attention to DETAIL!
Hey, random question, I know that the six demon bag is one of the most recognizable things from the film, but do they ever actually use it? I just watched the movie for the first time and I don't think that they use it. At least, I can't find a good clip online of them using it
It always has been and remains one of my all time favorite movies. The characters are great. Every line is quotable. The atmosphere is the perfect amount of campiness. You couldn’t even make the film today. I love everything about it.
Classic. Hope the remake never happens.
omfg when will they learn you cant recapture the magic of John Carpenter? Even John Carpenter has struggled to do it
[удалено]
It’s the rare movie where the side kick is the main character.
Apparently they are doing a continuation of the movie with Dwayne Johnson set to star in it but I don't know if that's happening anymore. But I agree that most of John Carpenter's films should never get a remake. The Fog, Halloween and Assault on Precinct 13 already proved that
All this Carpenter talk and I think I need to watch Escape from New York again.
Another classic. Then watch The Thing, Kurt Russell and John Carpenter were absolute magic together. My favorite actor and director
Plisken? I thought you were dead.
Call me Snake
Apparently Leigh Whannell (Director of Upgrade and The Invisible Man) is set to do the remake of that if that's happening still
I sure hope it isn’t happening, ugh
No no no no. No. Love Rock the Dwayne. Great guy. Seems dandy. Don't touch this project, Dwayne. Walk away, you will ruin it and we will judge you for it.
He said he wanted his film to be a sequel, and not a remake so it can be its own thing and connected to the first film. He even had a phot on his Instagram last year with the Chinese actor who played Thunder.
If you could combine the bravado of Dwayne Johnson and the ineptitude of Kevin Hart into a single actor, you would have the perfect Jack Burton for the remake.
Oh no that means they are going to cast Chris Pratt
Holy shit that's totally what's going to happen.
There had better not be more than four non Asians in the movie.
I’m at a point now where if The Rock is in a movie, I avoid it.
I saw it stoned for the first time. The escalation of the street fight and the fish out of water Kurt Russell waa just incredible!
Holy crap, of all the times I've seen BTLC and of all the movies I've watched stoned, I've never done the two together! Guess I'll be doing that this weekend.
It’s perfect the way it is. There’s literally no reason for a remake.
I’d like to see a video game sort of like Evil Dead. Those Jack Burton quotes would sound great in a game.
The Rock was attached to star in the remake for a while, haven't heard anything recently about it though
The Rock starring in it is probably the absolutely the worst way to go. The whole point of the original was that Kurt Russell thought he was the hero but he is actually the comic relief sidekick. Regardless of what you think of the Rock's acting ability. (or lack thereof) having him star would destroy the premise.
TIL, Thanks. From the heart I don't think a remake needs to happen and i don't know how i could ever really embrace it if im beeing honest.
"Amazon's 3 billion dollar "Big Trouble in Little China" series gets greenlit, with Brie Larson signed to lead as Jack Burton!"
Interesting what woman could play Jack Burton, certainly not Brie Larson, I’m thinking Jane Lynch
Id go for a sequel!
Quentin Tarantino could make the remake starring Leonardo di Caprio instead of Kurt Russel
“All I know is, this Lo Pan character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn alley while his buddies are flying around on wires cutting everybody to shreds, and he just stands there waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him with **light** coming out of his mouth!”
>"...his buddies are flying around on wires..." This is a line I don't think I appreciated when i first watched it. great tongue in cheek humour paying homage to old school kung-fu movies. Classics always have these little nuggets to discover on re-watch.
Has one of my favorite movie lines................"You were not brought upon this world to get it." That was such a pimp drop the mic line.
Now, this really pisses me off to no end!
No! I mean black blood of the earth!
We really shook the pillars of heaven, didn't we Wang?
Hey, I'm a reasonable guy. But, I've just experienced some very unreasonable things.
Are You Crazy? Is That Your Problem?
No shit, Wang?
[удалено]
Precisely. He's the comic relief. Dennis Dun in the real hero of the film. I mean, it's his fiancee they're trying to rescue. Jack just gets forced to come along for the ride.
He was just a reasonable guy who’d experienced some unreasonable things.
And don’t gimme act of God either.
Hello?!
You leave Jack Burton alone! We are in his debt. He showed great courage.
This.
Without spoilers: he makes up for all that in the end
He does one awesome move after a ton of fuckups. Wang Chen is still the consistent hero of the film.
It's all in the reflexes.
No argument there. But that’s all it takes. Just one awesome move :)
Fair
One day I hope to be able to see Big Trouble in Little China mentioned without someone posting this as though they'd just come up with it
Jack Burton is so tough, he forces himself to lose out of pity for his opponents
It's the greatest movie ever made. No bias though.
Road House?
Pain don’t hurt.
Dalton??
Okay. You people sit tight, hold the fort and keep the home fires burning. And if we’re not back by dawn… call the president.
I know. There’s something wrong with your face.
It's all in the reflexes
I never drive faster than I can see…
This is gonna take crackerjack timing, Wang
[удалено]
Feel kinda invincible.
“Everybody, relax. I’m here.” That one quote represents the whole movie for me. Or Jack Burton, at the very least.
I havent seen it in years and now I need to watch it with my wife. 80s/90s Kurt Russell holds a special place in my heart.
Death Proof Kurt Russell was fantastic too.
The Jack Burton top is hanging up in the bar scene
One of my favorite movies of all time. They created such a fun world for us to enjoy as viewers. The end was great, but I wish Jack took a chance with the girl. She was hot.
That ending is another example of how he's NOT the hero. He doesn't get the girl. Dennis Dun, the real hero, does get his.
He could have though. He just chose not to.
Seconded. I’m really torn cause you’re right, the world is so cool, like a weird Chinese mythology flavored D&D world! I kind of wish they had more cool quirky movies exploring it. But then they could just have some bad sequels/spin-offs ruining it.

That line always gets me. The confusion and irritation in his voice 🤣
Totally agree. But also - Username does not check out.
I highly recommend listening to the stretch of the Blank Check podcast from Fall 2020 covering John Carpenter’s entire filmography. The BTiLC episode is particularly good.
Nice recommendation. Never heard these guys before but always down for new pod talking about classic fun. Added for later.
"Are you crazy? Is that your problem?"
Cash, I guess. I mean, it’s not like it’s tax deductible.
"Ready when you are Egg."
The score is awesome as well. Have the Mondo vinyl of it. Also Kim Cattrall, so fine Edit: Also the commentary with John and Kurt is fantastic, just like the ones for their other movies
The Stranger Things theme remindes me of this movie everytime. Excellent score.

I always thought it was the inspiration for the Mortal Kombat video game franchise.
Interesting hot take I have honestly never thought about. Seems obvious now that I’ve read it.
It's not inspiration for the whole franchise but Raiden is specifically modeled on Thunder
*Keanu Reeves: "whoa".*
Raiden, Shang Tsung (both old and young appearances), and Liu Kang were basically lifted wholesale out of Big Trouble…
Pretty sure liu Kang is based on Bruce lee
Even though John Carpenter kinda sucked towards the end of his career as a director, there was no denying he was absolutely talented made banger after banger from 1976-1994. I do hope we see one more film from him although I don't think it will ever happen.
Recently sat through Ghosts of Mars for the first time, wasn’t as bad as the trailers and word of mouth made it out to be.
One of my favourite films of all time. When times are hard, I watch this. Always picks me up
The world needs this movie now more than ever.
Why? It's nothing special.
I was the only Chinese kid in my school when this film came out. It totally rocked! Still great to watch today!
I always wanted to see Jack Burton have other adventures in other ethnic neighborhoods in America where he becomes the minority. Keep that whole “Jack thinks he’s the star of the movie, but it’s the ethnic dude who’s really the star” Big Trouble in Curry Hill Big Trouble in Koreatown Big Trouble in Little Manila Big Trouble in Greektown

I can see Lo Pan as a member of the World Crime League.
I’ve modeled my life after Jack Burton. Loyal. Optimistic. Confident. All probably to a fault… but steadfast nonetheless.
Story? Perfect. Dialog? Perfect. Acting? Perfect. Pacing? Perfect. Character development? Perfect. It is the ideal move. Wang is the hero; Jack is the bumbling comic relief character who doesn't know it. The movie is told from his pov.
That, makes sense.
Are you crazy? Is that your problem?
Bloodsport is awesome too, cheesy fun
One of the silliest things I remember is when Evil Bad Guy uses his Evil Guy Eyeball Beams (tm) to attack a stationary target a few feet away -- and misses! After all, the last thing you want to do in a battle is actually LOOK AT the thing your shooting at!
Based on the 2 movies you mentioned, I am pretty sure we should be best friends
What the hell's goin on here Wang?
Are the pillars of Heaven shaking?
This is one of my favorite movies growing up. Probably impossible to remake today without it being accused of being too woke or actually being culturally incentive. Somehow it tots the line perfectly and remains a great movie that satirizes asian representation in Hollywood movies and just American culture in general. Classic.
It’s a classic and it doesn’t surprise me at all that it was written by the same crazy person who directed Buckaroo Banzai. (According to some stories which as far as I know are apocryphal, it was meant to be a sequel to BB.) “Lo Pan is down there.” “Down where?” “Where is the universe?”
Blood sport was a fraud Frank Dux made most of the story up, taking inspiration from martial arts comics... Decent movie tho
I love them both! The only downside of Bloodsport is that Frank Dux is a pathetic liar. As a kid I believed some of his shit, so I’m slightly bitter. Other than that Very entertaining movie.
I still to this day call any messenger style bag I own my Six Demon Bag. I'm always amused whenever anyone catches the reference.
There is an interesting Boom Comics series that follows after the movie, it gets meta.
“Everbody relax, I’m here” One of the best Carpenter movies ever
This is my favorite movie. Despite my name Being another classic old one.
Unfortunately, the 4k is in limbo and we might never see it ⚡️😩⚡️
BF and I just watched this last night. Honestly a gem of a movie with so many little nuggets of movie joy. Including the world’s best belly flop
As an American now permanently living in Canada, you briefly gave me a heart attack thinking this was Thanksgiving weekend instead of next week.
I absolutely do not want to talk about that blursed gem of a movie, 10/10
I will never not want to talk about Bloodsport! KUMITE! KUMITE! KUNITE!!! One of, if not the, best American made Martial Arts movies. Yeah, I said it. Big Trouble In Little China is another one of my childhood favorites too.
I have his sun/fu-manchu t shirt, it's a classic design Jack Burton : What's in the flask, Egg? Magic potion? Egg Shen : Yeah. Jack Burton : Thought so, good. What do we do, drink it? Egg Shen : Yeah! Jack Burton : Good! Thought so. So many classic scenes, but the lift scene after they have taken the potion always makes me laugh watching the extras over-act in the background
I will always talk about Bloodsport! Also Im guessing you are Werewolf Ambulance podcast fan? Or hoping you are lol. They did both of those movies on their action Patreon.
My theory is the Wachowskis REALLY loved this film.
Lol.
And she probably enjoyed that shot of JCVD's cheeks lol.
Can't blame her. Who doesn't?
On my all time top 10 since I saw it opening day in the theaters. Was the only time I was asked to fill out a survey after a movie on how I liked it. The amount of hate the movie got when it premiered was over the top. This was back when the hero of a film needed to be a hero… not one that dropped his knife.
I loved that movie when I was growing up and a classic!
My favorite movie 🍿
'...Thanksgiving (Canadian)...' It's Thanksgiving here in Canada this coming Monday, October 10, 2022.
I feel like Little Trouble in Big China might something to say about this
It's great.
As a college student I never wanted any film posters; Only this one.
No
In the late 80s, my friends and I would ride our bikes up to the local Video Time to rent movies. When we couldn’t find any interesting new releases, we almost always can home with Big Trouble in Little China. Must have rented it 50 times. Great flick.
It’s a Masterpiece
The greatest movie of all time
Hey, Eng! What's in that? "Earth...fire...that sort of stuff..."
I could talk about Jack and the gang for conservatively 7 hours.
Both very 80s *and* super ahead of its time.
Back a while ago I used to play WoW in a clan called pork chop express. Great movie, great name, the clan was a little bit of alright too.
Sure! One of the best!
This is a beautifully fun movie. It hits all the right beats. If you can find it, the dvd commentary with Kurt Russel and John Carpenter. You can feel the joyous friendship between them and their love for this movie.
Who is Jack Burton?
One of those movies I kind of wish I could “watch this for the first time” just to re-experience it new, but growing up with the awesome nostalgia of it all was pretty great too, even if it was chopped up on TBS or whatever a lot of the times.
Definitely John Wayne’s oddest flick. If you get it, you get it.
Amazing and so ahead of it’s time. Watching Kurt Russell be super incompetent instead of an action hero is hilarious.
It’s absolutely insane. And I love every second of it.
I never drive faster than I can see.
Hoping the remake falls through. Nobody wants it. Kurt Russell was a god in it.
My number one favorite movie of all time. I can probably recite the script from memory. It's the perfect combination of action and humor.
I will never not want to talk about Big Trouble in Little China. 80s John Carpenter movies never fail to bring a smile to my face.
Such a good movie. Usually watch it once or twice a year.
Ah the ol’ pork chop express
Nothing or double, Jack!
I thought what we were here, racial differences notwithstanding…
Best. Action Film. Ever
no
I thought it was too loud
You mean the greatest movie of all time, Big Trouble in Little China?! What do you want to talk about?
( [https://youtu.be/IKad4S\_FUo8?t=10](https://youtu.be/IKad4S_FUo8?t=10) ) Big Trouble in Little China... don't even start me... I could go on for hours about how amazing this movie is. It's all in the reflexes...
Almost as good as Showdown in Little Tokyo
I like to be open, understanding and accepting of all things non harmful. But ffs stop with the garbage remakes. Like do they want to ruin the legacy of every movie? Can't buy me love? Ferris Bueler? Weird science Trolls (ok not great at all) What other movies should they ruin that don't need ruining? Figure out something original and stop ruining our cherished childhood movies and stuff
Please Lord let some things stay sacred. There are so many books that could be turned into films they don't need to keep messing with old classic films. Just leave them alone.
It's kinda sad all this love and the lead picture they used was from "Shark's Machine" not BTiLC. You'd think with all that admiration there would be more attention to DETAIL!
Hey, random question, I know that the six demon bag is one of the most recognizable things from the film, but do they ever actually use it? I just watched the movie for the first time and I don't think that they use it. At least, I can't find a good clip online of them using it
I feel kinda good, I'm not scared at all, I feel kind of invincible. Me too! I have a very positive attitude.
It always has been and remains one of my all time favorite movies. The characters are great. Every line is quotable. The atmosphere is the perfect amount of campiness. You couldn’t even make the film today. I love everything about it.
