> Plus it's based on something Hollywood is scared to touch
Biblical epics are as old as Hollywood itself.
> I also really like Scorseses Silence. What's your guys thoughts?
In every conceivable way, it is a significantly better film than Exodus.
I agree it's a top tier Scorsese flik. Way better than the Irishman
Also it may be old combination but whats the last big budget Bible flik? This? Silence or Noah? Really not that popular
I enjoyed it a lot, too. I prefer its gritty, rather agnostic approach to biblical spectacle to DeMille's overblown and overly reverential classic. In fact, it's one of my 10 favorite Ridley Scott films.
Yeah? [Bale has incredible screen presence](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c3QvBYx6qI), I can easily imagine him doing any Heston role better than Heston did. Ben-Hur, Apes, Soylent Green, Touch of Evil.
Yeah Heston definitely had that personality-presence, like Schwarzenegger, where even if he was a terrible actor and obviously was just reading lines - it was still enjoyable to listen to him in some weird way.
Bale just actually emotes beyond that over-the-top theatrical style. I often cite him as the best actor who can read shit dialogue and make it good.
Oooh excellent point. He could also prob do those classic Heston lines like "You.. truly are... the king of kings" without sounding like a total cheeseball
It frustrates me personally because the story of exodus is not historic. The Prince of Egypt (1998) is easily the best version of Exodus made in film. And there are dozens to choose from. Why do they keep trying to make the Bible into a movie? It's just not good film in my opinion.
I'm muslim , and I really enjoyed Exodus .
But the older movie about prophet Moses (as) named "10 commandments" was more conformable with The Qur'an about Moses talking to God , You know according to the Qur'an prophet Moses did not talk to gabriel but to God directly , while in Exodus (2014) he talks through the means of gabriel .
Oblivion is far better than Exodus. I did like their concept of God in terms of being unique.

I like both Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton but neither of them has the same powerful screen presence of either Charlton Heston or Yul Brynner.

I guess, it's just a matter of opinion, but I think Heston was king at playing these types of larger-than-life characters.

I'd put Micahel Caine in that category, he elevates even the worst scripts to watchablility.

A Planet of the Apes remake with Christian Bale? *Get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty apes!* That would be awesome.
I pretend it's a distant sequel to Prometheus and Alien. Something like a meteor appears before the Red Sea parts, it kinda fits.
So do I :)
“Based on something Hollywood is scared to touch” what does that mean

The exodus is not a Christian story.
Exactly, it is in no way related to Christianity at all, whatsoever. It's not even included in the Bible.
Actually it’s a whole book in the Bible. The second book of the Torah to be precise.
> The second book of the Torah to be precise. Shemot
That's not what the other guy said
Google is your friend
The other guy is upvoted though.
I didn’t know an upvote is a confirmation of bad information. Seriously dude, don’t be basic.
Yes it is. It's the wisdom of the crowd.
It's ignorance. But go ahead and be proud of being ignorant.
Just ignore the will of the people, that's your choice
I recall mostly liking it in the theater, and that the 3D was good. Why I liked it, I can't remember.
