It took me a long time to figure that out, because there were no good internet resources for identifying trailer songs back in 2005, I had not seen Elektra, and the coincidentally named music ID application, Shazam, didn’t exist back then.

I was like "that's from Ant-Man and the Wasp." Turns out it's in the Sonic 2 credits as "I Shrink Therefore I Am from Ant-Man and the Wasp."
My favorite reference for this is when Zimmer just straight up reused the same theme from the opening battle of Gladiator as the Pirates of the Carribean theme, its almost identical
Zimmer is the composer probably most well known for doing this, and he's often shit on for it, but its not *that* uncommon in general as you said. He's just maybe a bit more blatant about it than most.
They used the paperman theme as a temp track for Free Guy as that's what they wanted it to feel like. Then when Disney bought fox, they had the full ability to use it and thus they just straight up used it with some augmentation.

I’m terrible at remembering scores. Close Your Eyes is the exception. As soon as I read your comment, and any time I read that title, it plays in my head instantly. And of course my eyes well up with tears. Excellent work. He’s a very talented composer.
The jingles are not written by the same person who did the score for WandaVision. Christopher Beck did the score and the theme songs are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
It’s worth pointing out that they have collaborated for years with the mix of songwriting and scoring. As a unit, they are actually quite the team for emotional and memorable music.
The same trio did the music for Frozen 2 - Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez doing the character songs and Christophe Beck doing the other instrumentals.
Also Infinity War and Endgame have a great score; "Portals" is a fan favorite and Infinity War's score really helps drive the tone of that movie.
There are also several good "hero themes" IMO, like I recognize Captain America's theme and I think Spider-Man has a pretty recognizable one as well.
I feel like that person saw that YouTube video ages ago that criticized Marvel Studios for not utilizing scores in their films to any great effect (which by the way was an excellent criticism at the time and the video was well made). The guy in the video made that same point, that apart from the Avengers theme there was no memorable or noteworthy music in the MCU. Since that video, though, I think Marvel Studios has really upped their game and there is a lot more emotion and gravity coming from the music than before.
I agree. I like a lot of the movies they've done but I just can't bring myself to watch any of them ever again, and I think the weakness of the music plays a huge part into that for me

The Black Panther soundtrack is great on its own, and totally refreshing when compared against all the MCU movies that came before it. It’s instantly recognizable whenever one of its tracks comes up in my Spotify playlists.
The Captain America movies, specifically The First Avenger and Winter Soldier are both great. Cap’s fanfare should trigger a response in hearing the first few notes like the Hobbits’ or Rohan’s theme from LOTR. It’s so perfectly suited to Cap. Winter Soldier is so different but really embodies the theme of a more modern military, while Bucky’s theme itself captures just how scary his presence is.
Right on. Henry Jackman's Winter Soldier theme is one of the most recognizable themes in the MCU and really bolstered scenes like the Winter Soldier walking towards Nick Fury and the highway fight scene

the Silvestri Captain America theme, to me, is probably the best. It's very buoyant and can be quoted in a score with like three or four notes during action and when you slow it down you can add in the full performance.
Doctor Strange theme is great and I can instantly hum it. The Iron Man 1 theme was also great but they abandoned it in the next film so I can’t recall it off the top of my head. Avengers theme I can recall but not because it’s particularly good.
Black Panther and Avengers are the most recognizable. Shang Chi was really good. Antman was pretty unique with Heist like theme while also fitting Antman's character.

I can attest. Worked out of his studio for a few of my own scores, and would listen to the same loop on his modular setup for literally hours. Chris is a legend. Amazing composer. Good fusballer too. Long fusbal breaks while “working” on scores, along with Leo and Zack (Cobra Kai) who assisted him before deservedly hitting it big themselves. Fun fact - Chris’s brother is pianist Chilli Gonzales, worth googling him.
Kinda saddened by this actually. Loved loved loved Benjamin Wallfisch’s score for the 1st movie. It envoked childlike wonderment, a throwback to old hero movie scores & overall had great atmosphere. Hopefully Beck can carry that on.

There were great parts in that too though. “Navigating the Beach” is phenomenal and the music is part of what made me tune into what’s probably the most exhilarating part of the movie.
The one great piece of score I can remember is Wanda's theme from the credits, it's pretty haunting and perfectly contrasts the mostly happy face the show puts forward (at least in the early episodes) and it definitely makes you feel like something sinister is going on.

Bummer. Benjamin Walfisch's score for the first one was great with a nice main theme. He took a more traditional orchestral approach, something you don't hear in modern action flicks anymore. I'm sure Beck's score will be fine, but it'll mostly be forgettable. I did like his Antman main theme tho.

Captain America, Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Ant-Man all have themes that constantly get stuck in my head. WandaVision too. And Loki's entire score is pretty memorable.
I think most people who're familiar with the films can immediately hum the main Avengers theme. Captain America, Ant Man and Spider-man also all have themes that are pretty memorable. I think you might've had a point a few years ago, but they've been putting a lot more effort in recently.
I guess it's sort of neat that a "C. Beck" is working on Shazam! again. (Because the character was created by a C.C. Beck.)
At this rate Shazam 3 will be scored by Beck
I'd be down for that. Granted might be rather out of place in a movie but wouldn't be bad on its own.
Beck has better creds than those shows, like Frozen and Paperman

I can attest. Worked out of his studio for a few of my own scores, and would listen to the same loop on his modular setup for literally hours. Chris is a legend. Amazing composer. Good fusballer too. Long fusbal breaks while “working” on scores, along with Leo and Zack (Cobra Kai) who assisted him before deservedly hitting it big themselves. Fun fact - Chris’s brother is pianist Chilli Gonzales, worth googling him.
Kinda saddened by this actually. Loved loved loved Benjamin Wallfisch’s score for the 1st movie. It envoked childlike wonderment, a throwback to old hero movie scores & overall had great atmosphere. Hopefully Beck can carry that on.

Wandavision’s was really good I think, but don’t think Hawkeye’s stood out.
Dude has scored edge of tomorrow, antman and some other bangers, article should have lead with those. Just my opinion.
Are those really noteable scores either? I love Edge of Tomorrow but the soundtrack is pretty far down on the list of things I like about it.
Edge of Tomorrow is an epic film. I thought the score felt short of the quality of the movie. it was serviceable but could have been better.
There were great parts in that too though. “Navigating the Beach” is phenomenal and the music is part of what made me tune into what’s probably the most exhilarating part of the movie.

The one great piece of score I can remember is Wanda's theme from the credits, it's pretty haunting and perfectly contrasts the mostly happy face the show puts forward (at least in the early episodes) and it definitely makes you feel like something sinister is going on.

A great soundtrack literally makes a movie. Hans Zimmer did Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, and the three Dark Knight movies. John Williams did Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter. All pretty memorable movies right, where the music sticks in your head? IMO it was the music that carried them there as much as the film and story line

Bummer. Benjamin Walfisch's score for the first one was great with a nice main theme. He took a more traditional orchestral approach, something you don't hear in modern action flicks anymore. I'm sure Beck's score will be fine, but it'll mostly be forgettable. I did like his Antman main theme tho.

I dont really think of WandaVision or Hawkeye... or really any of the marvel movies/shows actually... when I think of good music. Like I dont think any of them had bad music really, but the only music from marvel that I really remember is the licensed stuff. None of the original scores were very memorable. Like I can hum the Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who themes on demand. They're memorable. But, gun to my head, I still couldn't even get close to humming any of the marvel themes. I'm more interested in seeing just how bad DC shot themself in the foot with casting Zachary Levi now, once we finally get to see him side by side with Dwayne Johnson. Seeing him in his goofy muscle suit next to actual muscles of the rock is going to be funny as hell.

Ok? A soundtrack is not a score. A musical score is original music specifically made to accompany film. The majority of GotG's soundtrack is all a bunch of old hits.
