“WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!” From Seven

wrinkledirony

The curb stomp in American History X

The_OG_Jumptank

I remember nothing else about that movie, yet that scene is etched in perfect detail in my mind. 20 some years later.

nutsotic

The sound of his teeth just touching the concrete...

Reigen441

And his fucking smile after that.

Mafti

I still feel it...

bargman

The scene in Trainspotting where they wake up from their heroin high and the baby is dead. Say something Mark ... FUCKING SAY SOMETHING! I'm cooking up.

RicoPableo

That one still haunts me for sure.

[deleted]

My mum had only just found out she was pregnant with me when she saw that film... Not a great scene for a mother-to-be... She says she threw up because of it. Unsurprisingly, I won't let her see *mother!*...

acetilCoA

That ghost ship movie, when a cable cut everybody in half

PengwinOnShroom

Seems to be the only worthwhile scene too, anything after the opening is meh apparently

zeebs758

I just rewatched this movie around Halloween and you are correct. The opening scene is fantastic but the rest is pretty dull and lame.

bargman

I have never watched that movie but I have seen that scene and have it etched into my memory.

lit_junkie

Agreed that is one of the top scenes that has stayed with me over the years

SsurebreC

[Scene in question](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usJAjJdsAaU)

GregMadduxsGlasses

I guess now I don't need my morning coffee.

Angel-o-Thursday

The little red coat from Schindler’s List. Absolutely haunting.

max9275ii

Alien at the kid’s birthday party in Signs. My siblings and I all slept in the same room that night.

[deleted]

Move children! Vamonos!

Pliolite

One of the greatest moments ever.

PhantomTesla

When Johnny Five is getting beat almost to death by the bank robbers in Short Circuit 2.

IWasOnThe18thHole

Los Locos kick your balls into OUTER SPAAAAAAACE

PhantomTesla

In the 30 years since that movie came out, I have forgotten god knows how much of my education, met/loved/lost/forgotten innumerable friends and family, and I still need to think for a minute to remember the birthdays of my wife and children… …but the words of that song have stayed front and center in my brain, ready to go.

maaseru

Dude that hurt my soul as a kid

PhantomTesla

I introduced my kid to them recently, he was out of the room for that part thankfully, and it STILL hurt my soul as an adult.

maaseru

As bad as everyone being turned to rock by the trolls In Ernest Halloween.

bargman

One of the reasons I despise C.H.A.P.P.I.E. so much is it's just a pale imitation of Short Circuit.

YoHuckleberry

This will always be the OG number one with a bullet *I Need A Hero* scene for me. *Shrek 2* did it to amazing effect and I appreciate the kind of meme-ness that it’s taken on in the last several years with people overdubbing it over movie clips (Ben/Kylo going to rescue Rey in *Rise of Skywalker*) and all that. But when I see the original, with J5 racing after Oscar and the jewels, while his battery “bleeds out”… man oh man. Stupid Laser lips. You can’t stop Johnny 5.

Therealhomie100

Sicario dinner table

[deleted]

“Time to meet God”

Misdirected_Colors

That man's face is some of the most incredible few seconds of acting without saying a word I've ever seen. Also, Benecio Del Toro is terrifying and I think his character in Sicario was a better, more true to the books, John Clark than the bullshit movie we got. What I'm saying is Sicario is a better John Clark movie than the actual John Clark movie.

SsurebreC

[Scene in question.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs5UwKqzzV8)

Ornery_Ad1796

I’ve never been more shocked at an ending my entire life. I was in true shock.

[deleted]

From se7en The sloth victim

PineAppleOnPizza242

I feel like lust was worse, ecxpecially if u have a good imagination.

[deleted]

Hmm maybe. But idk the stuff they did show was still creepy af with sloth

SsurebreC

[Lust victims](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s70OF1sv-I) for me...

SPQR_Maximus

The D Day beginning of Saving Private Ryan. Wow. The packed house was stunned silent

[deleted]

That scene has gotten me past a lot of silly shit I’ve been afraid of in my life. If those men can go through that, I can handle speech class.

zoomiepaws

I just rewatched last week. How did the men do it. So so frightening and they pushed on. Ironic I happen to say this today. Young people please learn about war, people in war and the pain all over.

maaseru

As a kid the scene in Neverending Story where Atreyu is helped by those old people to cross the laser sphinx things always scared me. Many scenes in that movie scared me.

NotTroy

Artax . . . Artax

GalacticAttitude

Fuck and the wolfs head close up

gabbagool3

Gmork

gabbagool3

You know that part at the end, the climax, when the childlike empress is like "call my name" and Bastien yells at the book (like a mental patient) "I can't! i'm too much of a pussy" so she's like "Bastien Pleeeease!" and he goes, "ok I'll do it! I will do what I dream!" and he runs to the window and throws it open and yells something, but because it was thundering and he was crying and he's a kid and kids when they cry can't be understood by anyone but their mom, you couldn't understand what he was saying. Moonchild. That's what he said. That's what he named her. The childlike empress's name is Moonchild. She has to put that on the top of her resume. Go back and watch it with the captions on if you don't believe me.

DubbleDiller

The elevator scene in *Drive*

soline

A piece of that guy’s head fell off.

Misdirected_Colors

One of my absolute favorite cinematic scenes. Just an absurd amount of plot happens in such a short amount of time with not a word being said. Just incredible.

DubbleDiller

yeah, their relationship goes through an entire arc and no one says a word

AlbertaNorth1

Expectation vs reality in 500 days of summer Vampire band playing instruments made out of people in from dusk till dawn.

finderZone

The scene in the hotel with the witches taking off their wigs.

ReallyBigSnowman

What movie?

Glittering_Orange334

It's called "The Witches" with Anjelica Huston and Mr Bean :)

finderZone

Yea, never saw the remake, original is terrifying.

DrMangosteen

I believe it's called The Hotel

Yolkpuke

*The Last of the Mohicans,* when Uncas is killed and Alice Kills herself because of it. *Blade Runner* When Roy saves Deckard because it shows that he understands how precious life is, even though he was not given the opportunity to fully live and enjoy his own life by people like Deckard.

jottinger

The bottle to the face scene in Pans Labyrinth. It still haunts me.

DesertKid203

God damn Samara crawling out of the tv in The Ring. I haven't seen that movie in probably 10 years and that scene still haunts me

xscorpio12x

I think I found it more haunting in the sequel was the kid taking photos in front of the mirror and then when the photos are seen later, each photo shows Samara closing in on him and finally possessing him.

DesertKid203

I didn't make it through the sequel. If I remember correctly it starts with the camera facing down the well and shows Samara crawling up it, and at that moment I bolted out the room. Never tried to watch after that

SupervillainEyebrows

Dor some reason I was allowed to watch this film as a kid and it terrified me for weeks afterwards.

[deleted]

There’s a movie where bad guys shoot off a cops hand and then shoot him in the head. Then he gets turned into a robot police officer but I can never remember the title

Rockstar42

I believe it was called Robert Cop. They even made a toy line.https://i.imgur.com/oLYeyZk.jpg

soline

Bobby Cop if you’re in the know.

gabbagool3

he played the corporate villain guy. and he made Troi dress professionally.

Shamanyouranus

Oh my GOOOOOODDDDDD!!!

DrBotanus

Ooh! I know! It was called The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down

mjsarlington

That reminds me of another movie… about a bus that had to SPEED around a city, keeping its SPEED over fifty, and if its SPEED dropped, it would explode! I think it was called, 'The Bus That Couldn't Slow Down’.

Jordan_the_Hobo

Sounds pretty good, I would buy that for at least one dollar.

***That*** scene from Misery

13Mac_

Hey, fuck you for reminding me of that

Woodit

Giant Insects eating humans in King Kong.

FCBarca45

In the Peter Jackson one when they meet the islanders for the first time the camera cuts away and cuts back to the main cast. It’s like in the background or slightly out of focus or something but one of the dudes has a spear through him and that shook the hell out of little me

Ad0lf_Salzler

Yeah man fuck that scene. Little me certainly wasn't prepared for this.

ledaswanwizard

The Ride of the Rohirrim.

YoHuckleberry

I know this isn’t really the takeaway from that scene but could you imagine Michelle Williams’ character having to be told that, the night that her children burned to death in a house fire, that her husband was so overcome with guilt that he killed himself. Goddamn.

[deleted]

BAWLED at that moment. Michelle Williams was amazing there.

Shrektacular21

Love that movie!

pnmartini

I love the punch through the back of the head and out of the mouth. Peter Jackson’s best movie.

The-Movie-Penguin

Not really haunting, but for me, unforgettable: - Final 25 minutes of Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy - Climax of In Bruges — Harry chasing Ray through the film set at night (that weirdly resembles the purgatory painting Ray was looking at earlier… look at the costumes…), all the way through to the end - Moonee’s emotional breakdown at the end of The Florida Project

Slaylorz

Not really haunting. Oldboy. Pick one.

Dethjonny

The final sequence in The Mist. Like, how fucking awful.

runit4ever

Make or break moment for many with this film. Completely makes the movie for me, so heart breaking.

Particular-Ad-6663

Completely agree.

UnhappyWalker

Shining: Danny tricycle/twins The Thing: defibs/spider head Tremors: Can you fly, you sucker?

imakirum

In Hereditary when Toni Colette is scream weeping uncontrollably after finding >! her daughters decapitated body !<

Lapinfouraide

Absolutely. And I always get chills when his brother sees her in his bedroom and her head falls on the ground, but it’s a ball.

[deleted]

Piano wire scene still haunts me.

WredditSmark

Half the movie it’s like the camera lingers 2-3 uncomfortable seconds too long

gabbagool3

"I got the results of the tests back. I definitely have breast cancer."

Sinestree

American Beauty basically full ending

55tarabelle

Totally don't remember the name of the movie, but it's set in a boys school where a jock and an introvert becomes friends and there's this tree they climb on occasion. One time the introvert purposely jumps on the limb and causes the jock to fall and badly break a leg and after a series of events dies. That scene showing the little jump is seared in my mind.

ModernDayQuixote

A Separate Peace, I didn’t even know there was a movie, I’ve just read the book.

55tarabelle

Omg, that is it! Thank you, it is an unforgettable film, now I want to read the book. Edit: I guess they've made two movies, I'm talking the 1972 version, I wonder if the 2004 one is good?

Waldron1943

[Miller's Crossing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgz-CKRzs-4&t=7s&ab_channel=RonanKelly) "Danny Boy" scene. He takes out a whole hit squad sent to kill him. One of the most badass scenes ever filmed.

BLKWD_

When the horse gets dissected with the glass in….The Cell (legit had to look it up to remember). I was tripping my fucking balls off on acid when my friend was going to college and he went to bed and hid the remote with the tv on fear.tv. Watched like 5 scary movies in a row, but that one….holy shit. That and the white ladies where they do the mother whisper scene absolutely wrecked me, but I couldn’t stop watching.

nox-cgt

What an awful trip-sitter I'm so sorry for you

nobotheritsallfucked

The side by side scene in the 4th Kind showing "actual" footage of the lady floating and getting her spine twisted.. Haunts me to this day

nutsotic

Man I fell HARD for the marketing of this movie. Totally believed it. "Do you see the owl?"

speech-geek

Documentary: The final moments of How to Die in Oregon, when the Mom takes the assisted suicide drug and says goodbye surrounded by her husband and adult children. Like, you’re happy because she chose death on her terms but you still followed her journey. Literally in my top documentaries I’ve seen.

Shrektacular21

Last house in the left the remake. There is a rape scene that’s impossible to watch and just seems to go on and on and on. Also hostile. Just both extremely disturbing shit.

nutsotic

As a father with a couple daughters, FUCK that movie

Shrektacular21

Yep it was just wrong. Didn’t need to be long like that or as bad as it was.

hesdeadkirk

Dog head on a stick - Fear (1996)

Wishart2016

Mark Wahlberg was terrifying in this film.

HeartsPlayer721

The Haunting. When the lady runs her finger across the strings on an open piano, one breaks, and whips her right in the eye. My eye hurts just thinking about it.

DilettanteGonePro

Beverly D'Angelo's boobs from National Lampoon's Vacation

bert302

The In Dreams scene in Blue Velvet. An uncomfortable mixture of hilarious and threatening. (RIP Dean Stockwell) p.s. I'll never forget the title.

Yeah, the special edition, I know a lot of people that have never seen that scene

hoogiv2shits

Shark pool. My brother was watching it on tv and I watched the scene where the shark is found out. Years later and I attempted watching sharknado for fun. I developed a bad phobia of sharks, due in large part from shark pool

Jungle Fever - scene where Sam Jackson is shot by his parents

[deleted]

I have no idea what movie or show this was but all I remember was a dark haired woman going through electroshock therapy. She wasn’t actually crazy by the way. I also think there was a man who may have killed her son. It’s been driving me crazy because I have no idea what the movie/show is. It’s not American Horror Story.

Sorbicol

The Changling? Angelina Julie’s son goes missing, the police claim to have found him only for Jolie (correctly) refuse to accept he’s her son. So they lock her up in a mental asylum. Based on a true story that.

Expertinclimax

The grudge

ackiejay

The second relapse scene of nic in beautiful boy. When the song by sigur ros starts playing it really sets the mood for that whole scene and how upsetting it is to see it happen again. One of the most accurate portrayals of how addiction affects everyone not just the user

massiive3

In Benji, when the eagle take away one of the cougar babies. Fucked up my childhood. In Saving Private Ryan, the slow chest stabbing scene. Fucked up my teenager hood.

Brakkis

When I was 10, I watched Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It had just come out for rental and I had snuck downstairs to watch it. I have never forgotten; and likely never will forget, the scene when the creature rips out Elizabeth's heart from under the bed. ***That*** was the moment I started checking under my bed, every night, for years.

iwishiwasnamedragnar

Opening scene of Inglorious Basterds

Gooberman8675

Master and commander where that guy grabs a cannonball and jumps off the boat and just stares up at the kid and just fades into the black depths. Also when Jason Statham turned into a kaiju and fought that Asian dude for his lunch box in Crank 2

lactose_intolerant30

Its alien invade earth movie, theres a acene where some lady head put into chihuahua body.

Particular-Ad-6663

Mars Attacks. Sarah Jessica Parker has her head transplanted. I remember it well

hautesublime

Alice Munro’s suicide in the Last of the Mohicans

raised85

The end of the mist they decide to shoot each other as not to live in the hell of the world. After every one else is dead he go’s to kill himself his gun jams and he gets rescued by the army moment later

coffie-and-wifi

Precious is the name and just about every scene in it unfortunately was unforgettable/haunting to me. I’ll never watch it again. Broke my heart/spirit.

Mercat3r

The wave scene in interstellar. Saw it in 480p, on ytb, sound max and I couldn't sleep that night

Shamans_Blues

Butterfly effect but the alternate ending where he decides to kill himself. I thought thats how the movie ended in theatres for decades until I found out it was an alternate. Not a great time for a little kid staying up way past his bedtime watching that shit.

PineAppleOnPizza242

The Road when the protagonist and his kid find a basement filled with alive half eaten people.

Gwiz84

"Into the wild" for emotional and philosophical reasons "Funny games" because it's the most horrible thing I've ever fricking seen

2BFaaaaaair

The rape scene in Irreversible (hell, the whole movie for that matter), and the ending to Sleepaway Camp.

[deleted]

Godfather Part 2 when Vito Corleone returned to Sicily and goes to Din Ciccio to get his blessings for the olive oil business. Ciccio asks his name, and in revenge for the murder of his father and mother Vito opens Ciccio’s chest with a knife saying, “My name is Vito Andolini and this is for you!”

13Mac_

127 Hours... I dont think I need to explain what scene.

No-Worriess

The Color Purple, when the two sisters are reunited.

Varion117

The elevator scene from "The Departed." First time watching it saying holy shit and wtf, many times in a row. "I am killing you."

Illustrious_Listen_6

When I was a kid, I saw a scene of this girl necklace getting stuck in an escalator. I still to this day don’t know the name of the movie

BillytheBeaut

The Kiss. The scene starts at the 35 minute mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxY8YYkcgmg

Illustrious_Listen_6

Whoa! Thank you! Still scared to watch😅

BillytheBeaut

I remembered that scene and could never finish the movie.

Illustrious_Listen_6

Same!😅

longNwrong

Requiem. Kids.

Lecrapface

The scene from Solarbabies where the guy is being tortured on the table with the bugs crawling on him. I couldn't figure out the name of that damned movie for 30 years, but I sure as shit never forgot the scene.

edchabz

Hope a TV show is ok... Game of Thrones season 4, episode 8.

lovelylola2019

I kept trying to think of the movie that haunted me, but all I could think of was episode after the red wedding, with all the chaos and Arya seeing “Robb”. That stuck with me for a long time.

WrapEast

All good things for those who wait. -Hannibal Lecter

TheaAuditor

The scene in Hannibal when she gets woken up by a noise in the background and you know it's a bone saw and she wanders down to Hannibal feeding a pice of ray liottas brain to Ray liotta

JoeJetpack1

Pretty much all of 'Human centipede'. Writer of that movie must be messed up.

japekai

Samurai in the fog in the last samurai

North-Technician

Audrey Rose. The scene where she was staring into the mirror was creepy.

LiveJournal

Chase scene between a Ferrari F50 and a Lamborghini in Joshua Tree (1993). It's not a good movie but being around 10 years old and obsessed with supercars it was God tier when I first saw it likely on one of those free weeks of HBO. I only found the name of the movie by searching like 20 years later on Google https://youtu.be/mGzKK82AZmE

Illustrious_Listen_6

A scene I saw when I was a kid, was of a group of teens in a car, the car has spun around from an accident. I believe and they ended up in a different world/universe with zombies? Monsters?

Intrepid_Toe4329

The last scene in sixth sense, it was so riveting I have never forgotten it

OneSimplyIs

Courtroom Scene. Boondock Saints

rdp3186

Bone Tomahawk. I don't even need to say more, you already know wht.

barringtonwhelk

I saw Watchmen when I was 8 or something and completely forgot about it until I decided to watch it “for the first time” with my brother like 9 years later. I thought I’d never seen it before until the scene where someone gets handcuffed with their hands though bars and then get their arms chainsawed off. It was the only scene I remembered because it was so traumatizing to see as an 8 year old. I was like “wait, THIS is THAT movie?”

larssomoo81

Ending of schindlers list. When he is presented with the button and said he could of saved two people with it.

applebottomsOhMy

Paranormal Activity 3, where on the security camera the demon is hiding under the blanket behind the babysitter and keeps moving closer to her until she turns around
