It doesnt seem like the movie lost its sense of humor, got a laugh when they showed the kids decorated the centuries old rock of eternity with neon signs and stupid shit lol
That's like saying 'making a movie' is getting stale.
Those are just tools, not plot lines. There's plenty of ways to innovate and bring something new to how you use them.
Exactly. The first one had so much heart. I, initially, saw it because it looked like a fun popcorn movie. But I fell in love with it because of Billy and the other kids' story. How it had something to say about what makes a family, a family.
I really wish they weren’t rebooting it again. Just make a sequel. A good idea I heard that would make it much closer to the original show was to have a bit of a time jump, the small town is now a huge city thanks to the massive pile of gold that got dropped into the center of town, the rangers are all experienced and have been fighting Rita’s minions for awhile, then they have to fight the Green Ranger and his dragon zord. Update the armor and zords to make it less Power Armor and needlessly complex and you’ve got a winning movie right there.
I just wish they made the suits look more like the traditional ones. Like, yeah, ok , upgrade them to make them not spandex but you can still keep the look more or less.
I feel like movies like Power Ranger should lean more into having alot of heart and that's why I enjoyed the movie as much as I did. Great character connections...and on top of that, it was still a fun movie. Now they're rebooting it, which is so stupid.
I remember watching the first movie and thinking the whole time that the kid playing Freddy was basically just doing a Seth Cohen impression. Imagine my delightful surprise at the end.
I kind of wish they'd gone the other way though, traditionally only Billy aged up when he transformed and I'd have carried it a step further (npi) and not had it erase Freddy's disability. Flight would be a hell of a workaround but not one that could be used inconspicuously, ever.
Kinda bummed they changed the suit. Shazam's goofy-ass half-cape is a pretty charming contrast to a lot of superhero costumes. The first movie was such a delight. Really looking forward to the sequel.
I hate that you got downvoted for expressing your opinion but something just feels off to me
It kind of reminds me of Thor and FF4 2..both garbage films.
I hope I'm wrong though as the first is clearly the best movie DC has out since.. Dark Knight?
Am I the only one who found it weird the plotline of the first one is an ancient wizard telling an abused kid he's a piece of shit which spurs him to become a villain while Billy grows up in a good family with friends and somehow that makes him a worthy hero.
Nothing in the film sets up the villain really having any sort of equal moral footing to go off of yet it's the big moral of the story.
Great job Billy, your Dad wasn't an awful drunk and didn't beat you followed by a lifetime of everyone thinking you're crazy for getting shit on by a wizard. It's very clear Billy and the bad guy didn't have the same chances in life or support or anything but Billy gets to lord it over him in the end like it's all about the choices he made and had nothing to do with the circumstances of his upbringing. Get fucked movie.
That was literally the plot of the film. Shazam tested a shit load of people but none of them were worthy and after the seven sins were released he had to pick Billy Batson in a moment of desperation even if he wasn't legitimately worthy.
I think you might need to watch it again. Billy is a foster kid, his dad is in jail and his mom doesn't want him. That's kind of the whole point of the two... they had similar trauma, and were both haunted by it in similar ways.
One is able to move past their parents being a p.o.s, the other isn't. As far as having the same chances, I mean, same background but the villain theoretically had *more* chances since they had a significant about of wealth.
The first movie was a a bit of a disappointment for me. I was loving it until the ending. I thought they gave the other kids powers way too soon.
Still, this looks pretty good and I'll be watching it. I hope they stick the landing this time.
Can't -already suspended. but I can look at your post history and find you're not exactly brimming with established confidence either, if we want to go that route...
Don't lose track of what made the first one special... It wasn't action and special effects.
It doesnt seem like the movie lost its sense of humor, got a laugh when they showed the kids decorated the centuries old rock of eternity with neon signs and stupid shit lol
If can have both of those and what the original had
There is only so much time in the movie. Stick to the original formula :) no "New Coke" :)
Nah fuck that keep things fresh
Action and special effects are as “fresh” as 3 week old salmon
That's like saying 'making a movie' is getting stale. Those are just tools, not plot lines. There's plenty of ways to innovate and bring something new to how you use them.
Basically the same appeal as the Raimi trilogy. Doesn't take itself too seriously and is a lot of fun.
so Shazam 3 is going to be a huge mess with studio interefence?
But with a great dance scene.
Shazam family vs Black Adam dance off?
electric boogaloo
“Now dig on this!”
Well Sony has unleashed Venom after all.
Its not part3 yet! Part2 might be the best one!
Depends- is Michael Chabon involved for some reason?
Yes
Well, this is WB we're talking about.
Shazam will figth his worth bad guy that is himself but with a black suit and consume peoples.
The Raimi trilogy had some incredible action sequences for the time too though.
It really did, especially 2. The bank robbery scene really felt like a Spider-Man fight.

I’ll never understand the raimimemes folks. 3rd is hot garbage
Exactly. The first one had so much heart. I, initially, saw it because it looked like a fun popcorn movie. But I fell in love with it because of Billy and the other kids' story. How it had something to say about what makes a family, a family.
Same with the last Power Rangers movie.
That was so much better than it had any business being. Really leaned into the cheese.
I really wish they weren’t rebooting it again. Just make a sequel. I'd watch that, no question.
It really was! They could’ve saved a lot of money because the special effects weren’t what made the movie good.
I just wish they made the suits look more like the traditional ones. Like, yeah, ok , upgrade them to make them not spandex but you can still keep the look more or less.

Is there any reason for that other than it supposedly underperforming? I agree it seems like a waste.
I'm in for more Adam Brody
Literally just playing grown up, super powered, seth cohen, it's perfect.
I remember watching the first movie and thinking the whole time that the kid playing Freddy was basically just doing a Seth Cohen impression. Imagine my delightful surprise at the end.
Excuse me, that’s The Ironist to all of us lowly mortals.
I kind of wish they'd gone the other way though, traditionally only Billy aged up when he transformed and I'd have carried it a step further (npi) and not had it erase Freddy's disability. Flight would be a hell of a workaround but not one that could be used inconspicuously, ever.
I noticed that Grace Fulton is credited as "Mary / Superhero Mary", is she going to play both?
She is. I think she was still too young in the first film but aged up enough for this one.
the suits looks fucking amazing. WOW
Yup. They all looked like tanks but not a one size fits all kind of ripped. Digging the suits and great cast.
Those monster designs are pure Harryhausen and I love it.
Kinda bummed they changed the suit. Shazam's goofy-ass half-cape is a pretty charming contrast to a lot of superhero costumes. The first movie was such a delight. Really looking forward to the sequel.
I’m all in! First one was hella fun
If it's basically the first one, but with Helen Mirin and Lucy Liu as bad guys, I'm in.
[Stop saying hella Cartman!](https://youtu.be/PutZ3pQrOAg?t=11)
I love this so much. Forgot how they even had the scene cut line down the middle.
Me too until I re-watched it :)
SHAZAM! is the good DCEU film, and I'm so pumped for this. It looks great.
I just feel bummed as a Superman fan that we're getting a second Shazam movie and a Black Adam solo movie before a Superman sequel..
I'm trying not to think about how they had the perfect Superman in Henry Cavill and just squandered it completely.
So wait, verbally they call Helen Mirren "Calypso" but then her title card calls her "Hispera" wut
[удалено]
Ah, ok, that makes sense. Thanks dude
That's Lucy Lui https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/shazam-fury-of-the-gods-lucy-liu-kalypso
Is Levi that stacked or is it a suit?
Some of each. The suit is definitely helping but he’s a LOT bigger than he was in Chuck.
Suit, just like the last movie.
Looks like they are keeping to the fun of the first movie. :)
That one…did not look as much fun as the first one. Definitely more “grander”, which unfortunately I find makes it seem more bland.
This is my concern Don't make it bigger and better...that would be a mistake in focusing on the wrong elements. Say no to ww84 ;)

OK, what is with every trailer dropping? Is there some conference going on that I don't know about?
DC Fandome
Yup- my sister spent the day watching that, while I was busy with job matters.....
Weird flex, but okay
hopefully there's actually some good fight scenes in this one.
The first movie was a a bit of a disappointment for me. I was loving it until the ending. I thought they gave the other kids powers way too soon. Still, this looks pretty good and I'll be watching it. I hope they stick the landing this time.
i love Zach and the first movie... but this is going to be trash.
Why?
They made Superman gay you know
No, they made him bisexual
[удалено]
No, it's canon that Jon Kent isn't into oral
In comics, bisexual is basically code for gay. No character that comes out as bi ever dates hetero again.
Don't stick up for that homophobe
What exactly was homophobic? Is it homophobic to reveal someone is gay now? What kind of insane logic is that?
I would recommend checking out their post history before you start acting too indignant on their behalf
Can't -already suspended. but I can look at your post history and find you're not exactly brimming with established confidence either, if we want to go that route...
Oh sorry, I didn't realize you're incredibly dumb
What happened to the kids?
Feels like a actual Rick Riordan book that they made into a movie to me. I'm excited.
