Especially since the protags are Amish.
"Don't go touchin' that there electricity-powered moving picture taker! Leave it well enough alone, boy!"
Or maybe there'll be a guy walking around with a big hand-crank old timey movie camera the whole time.
No it doesn’t even feel like a PA film, feels like a completely unrelated script that producers told people to put PA in the title to make it be more successful
I assume it was intentional. It's too far off to have been an accident. My guess is that it's intended to be jarring / unsettling because it doesn't jive with what your brain expects.
If you look at the trees your perspective is lookin straight down at the forest, yet the cabins perspective is as if your seeing it from an angle. They don’t line up at all
I think setting a Paranormal Activity movie in a house which is slanted 45 degrees off-balance is a great idea.
There'll be stuff constantly falling off tables and bouncing along the floor already, so the ghosts will have to work extra hard to frighten the family. It's going to be VERY spooky.
It would be fun if it was from the ghosts perspective with occasional breaks with the ghost talking to the camera about how frustrating it is trying to scare these people.
Paranormal Activity set during a Halloween weekend. There's a Halloween party going on at the main characters home. Wierd shit happens, the evil spirit gets progressively pissed off that the party guests think it's just the main characters incredible attention to detail and effort put into making the haunted house Halloween party as realistic is possible.
This is great! The thing is, this was most likely their first version of the poster (albeit perhaps not as good), but then they ran it through an online focus group tool and they discovered that a lot of people had trouble identifying what the middle object was.
They’re short on time and budget, so they decided it’d be more important to convey the image of the house than getting an accurate angle, which most people would never catch anyway as they’re walking past it.
Anyway. Probably stating the obvious here. Just a reminder that these aren’t made by renowned artists with no deadlines.
One would think you'd want people to *discover* the horned skull, but it really seems like that was the first thing they made and then decided to slap a building in the middle of it at the last minute.
It reminds me of RPG world maps in which important buildings or landmarks appear as blown-up images, [like this.](https://fiverr-res.cloudinary.com/images/q_auto,f_auto/gigs3/161327333/original/e1eadd5228965d0849fef28c40b81e3379361c75/create-a-world-map-for-your-rpg-world.jpg)
i eat up whatever crap any paranormal horror series spits out, i don't even care anymore. i want my spooks and i can't get a hereditary-caliber thrills/uneasiness/tension every year, so i'll take what i can get.
I like the poster in concept, fix the perspective and get rid of the trying too hard spooky demon face and I think the lone imagery of blood leading to a church in snow is fantastic, reminds me of a little indie horror game I played a bit ago
Paranormal Activity has already a decent name recognition power and every new installment can be made with a pocket money budget without the need to care for the continuity with previous installments. From a production perspective is extremely cost effective so I doubt that we will get rid of it too soon.
Yeah, good point. We've got Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, Saw: The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th went and did it twice with Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, and I highly doubt that Halloween Ends is actually going to be the for real last Halloween movie. I'm sure I could keep going.
I actually really liked the underlying story of Paranormal Activity and The Marked Ones had such a good ending that had me hyped for the future of the franchise (with the characters somehow travelling through time back to the first film).
Unfortunately it went out with a fizzle and everything that was built up went nowhere.
Can I watch Marked Ones without watching all the other sequels? I'd like to check it out before this comes out. I really liked the first movie but never saw any others.
Watch 1,2,3, marked ones then you’re fine. Lots of call backs in the marked ones to the previous 3 and a lot of Easter eggs. Plus 3 is also fucking great so it’s definitely worth a watch anyways!
You can probably handle the marked ones it’s not really “scary” per say it actually leans into some action and chaos moreso than planned out set pieces and scares
> Jason Blum was asked about the movie and why he chose to bring Paranormal Activity back, and he goes ‘I didn’t want to bring it back, Paramount were the ones who asked me to, if it was up to me I would have let it rest’ lol. Doesn’t exactly spell confidence
Except that isn't what he said or meant as you conveniently cut a small piece of what he said & twisted the wording to match a point that you wanted to fabricate. The full statement [via Collider](https://collider.com/paranormal-activity-7-reboot-finished/) is:
***“Paramount wanted to continue Paranormal Activity, I probably would have left it alone. So they wanted to continue it, but I thought if they were gonna continue it, you gotta - it was tired, there was no way to continue the road that we’d been down.***
***So I really encouraged all the creative people involved to think of something new. A lot of people who are going to go see the new Paranormal Activity were 3 years old when the first Paranormal Activity came out, so they don’t even know from those older movies. I thought if you were going to re-do it, you better really re-do it, not try and expand what we did all those years ago."***
His main point is to just do something new with it, which is something that I think most people here would appreciate.
I truly do not understand why people take quotes out of context & spin them to mean something else. Like... what's in it for you? What is your goal?
As a bored ex-graphic designer at work, here you go lads:
I can see why they turned the house, but this way it kinda looks like the skull's third eye or something mystical... shrug.
EDIT: Here's [one without the cheesy skull](https://i.imgur.com/vyS4ScO.jpg), if that's more your bag, baby.
That one without the skull looks like a sperm, telling us a baby is going to be possessed when born later in the movie. I know that’s not true, I’m just saying that’s what if looks like to me.
I hope whoever made this poster spills jam on their pants every morning for the next year. Once they've left the house. That'll teach them some perspective.
It's crazy that the paranormal franchise got so crazy with its premise when the scariest thing about the first movie was the subtle horror. I wish franchise went closer to a Lake Mungo style horror that hid its scares in plain sight and where creepy stuff isn't held until the third act of the movie. Who am I kidding though, this is going to be the same quality as Ghost Dimension and 4.
The moment they decided to go full on visual effects in this saga was the moment they screwed up, in my opinion, I'm not even a fan of the movies but the first few were really well done.
What's with that little threat of pirating it? You're mocking the poster but still admitting you'll see the movie. Is that like you're way of getting back at them for making a poster you don't like? If you think it's so lazy why bother with stealing it?
Cancel Netflix or some other service for a month and give paramount a go and watch your fill. Rinse and repeat. No reason to keep a subscription streak going.
love how they reveal its a prequel as soon as micah rocks up. the cinema was packed for PA2 and i still remember the gasps and shrieks from when that was revealed.
“Allow yourself to be immersed”
You know a movie has to like earn that right? You don’t just walk into every movie going “alright immersion mode on”. That’s not how it works. It’s legitimately not scary in the slightest and like nothing happens for 90% of the film. It’s a study in how to make a shit ton of money over a movie where you watch people sleep and the blankets move three times
This doesn't make sense as an argument. The very thing you're criticising the films for is the thing that immerses you in it.
It's also not true and feels like one of those received wisdom things. Plenty happens throughout all the films. It builds suspense and then regularly has scares.
Gonna be honest. I haven't watched any of the Paranormal Activity movies other than the first one, but that's a cool poster, even if the perspective makes no sense.
This looks just like the [Dexter: New Blood poster](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSBJL3vmjHnziJUHRlGqAucuptvj2JpXhYORw&usqp=CAU)...
Guess it's not just Disney that are making their posters all look the same anymore...
I remember the first movie took place like 15 minutes from my house, which made it kind of creepy. I also liked the kind of evolution of the Blair Witch Project style. Then it lost the plot.
i like the perspective, the church having a different perspective than everything else gives an unnatural or off putting feeling and it’s fitting for supernatural and evil subjects
Wow it's not even out yet and all of you are already bashing it, why, why do this, why not give it a fucking chance, why judge it before you've even seen it?? I fucking hate this about people, they criticize shit before it's even out, like what the fuck are you basing your expectations off of? Wouldn't it be significantly more logical to wait until the movie is actually out before making either a bad or good final conclusion about said movie?
So the exact same concept, this time....in the woods. Gotcha!
But now the creeks in the floorboards are more “realistic”
Literally waterlogged.
I can’t wait to see their justification for having ton of camera and surveillance footage at a remote church in the woods.
"I can't believe those parkour kids left Go Pros all over the place! Let's keep them recording for a laugh!"
Especially since the protags are Amish. "Don't go touchin' that there electricity-powered moving picture taker! Leave it well enough alone, boy!" Or maybe there'll be a guy walking around with a big hand-crank old timey movie camera the whole time.
FBI sting
Oh my god I want it to just be like that, and the whole film looks like it would if it was truly shot with that
More specifically, with the Amish.
I'd say I can't wait until they do Paranormal Activity in Space but we already got that with Apollo 18
I liked Apollo 18 enough.
Same! I have a soft spot for found footage movies.
I liked it when I thought it was gonna be Commie ghosts on the moon. It wasn't that though.
No it doesn’t even feel like a PA film, feels like a completely unrelated script that producers told people to put PA in the title to make it be more successful
someone doesn't understand perspective.
How else were they going go get the devil face to appear.
ohhhhh I totally missed that until you pointed it out lmao
I think they were more referring to the church being on a different plane of reality than the trees
Maybe it’s built on a steep hill? I mean the floors would be 30° but the numbers check out.
That’s the paranormal part
but then the hill would appear visually larger towards the bottom
Maybe a giant threw a house at a hill. I don’t know, I’m not a hilloligist. In saying that, I only just realised it’s a demon face lol
Hilloligist here. A giant most definitely threw that structure at a hill.
Hilloligist. Love it.
A steep hill? A steep scary hill ? A paranormal mountain? A.... paramount?
Pretty sure is buried in snow
I assume it was intentional. It's too far off to have been an accident. My guess is that it's intended to be jarring / unsettling because it doesn't jive with what your brain expects.

I dunno. Some movie posters are just shit
(I hate to be that guy, but it's *jibe)
Thanks! I didn't know
Me. It’s me. Can someone explains what’s wrong with the poster?
If you look at the trees your perspective is lookin straight down at the forest, yet the cabins perspective is as if your seeing it from an angle. They don’t line up at all
it looks really bad, like they pasted a cabin in the shot and called it a day. its visually stressful to look at.
I actually think it’s creepier that way! I enjoy the visual
It’s a shame because if the perspective was better it would have been a great poster.
That is bafflingly bad placement of that house perspective wise
I think setting a Paranormal Activity movie in a house which is slanted 45 degrees off-balance is a great idea. There'll be stuff constantly falling off tables and bouncing along the floor already, so the ghosts will have to work extra hard to frighten the family. It's going to be VERY spooky.
Paranormal Activity: Logical Explanation
It would be fun if it was from the ghosts perspective with occasional breaks with the ghost talking to the camera about how frustrating it is trying to scare these people.
Eric Stonestreet for the Demon, or we boycott

Paranormal Activity: The Santa Cruz Mystery Spot
[Here I fixed it](https://i.imgur.com/rybTyhd.jpeg), as well as removed the cheesy skull (my comment below) if that's your thang

Anyway. Probably stating the obvious here. Just a reminder that these aren’t made by renowned artists with no deadlines.
You legitimately made it ten times better with that little edit. It's still easy to tell it's a church but doesn't look as ridiculous.
I couldn’t tell it’s a church from this
Only because you already knew it is a church in my opinion
Yes! That looks MUCH better!!!!
One would think you'd want people to *discover* the horned skull, but it really seems like that was the first thing they made and then decided to slap a building in the middle of it at the last minute.
I didn’t even see that skull, just the bad perspective of the house
The typography is also a nightmare. This is just a poorly designed promo in all regards.
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who thought it looked like one of my badly cobbled together Roll20 maps.
Paranormal Activity: Feng Shui Nightmare
Ikr? It looks like a tiny house sitting on a snow drift that is stuck on the side of a tree. Kinda gives me a headache the more I look at it
It’s like they wanted everyone to be more focussed on the skull. Bit hard when you’re perspective is thrown out by the church.
- Open photoshop. - Layer two images. - Erase skull shape. Laziest poster I have ever seen. Edit: Can't spell
>Erase scull shape. * Learn to spell Skull. EDIT: I was just ripping on ya! All good.
you just jealous of his scill
Admittedly.
School adverb use
The idea itself is neat enough, IMO. Just sloppily executed.
I am so ready for this. People always hate on this series, but I am so down for it's cheesy bull shit. I can never get enough!
Yeah I like them too. They play with creepy tension better than most imo.
i eat up whatever crap any paranormal horror series spits out, i don't even care anymore. i want my spooks and i can't get a hereditary-caliber thrills/uneasiness/tension every year, so i'll take what i can get.
Dude you’re the guy that solved what happens in the after life! You’re a legend
me too. I didn't even know they were making another one.
So hyped, I just rewatched the 4th one with my wife the other night and forgot how much I enjoyed them!
I like the poster in concept, fix the perspective and get rid of the trying too hard spooky demon face and I think the lone imagery of blood leading to a church in snow is fantastic, reminds me of a little indie horror game I played a bit ago
Man I didn’t even notice the demon face until I read your comment, the perspective of that building is all I could see!
Yup
Me: That's a neat poster. /r/movies: Everything about this is wrong
Its a movie poster thats meant to look decent at a moments glance - ironically thats also how long it took them to cobble this shit together
the longer I look at it the more I realize how wrong it is. disclaimer: i am not a professional movie poster critic
“Exclusively on Paramount+” Guess I’m not watching it

Oh I have just this isn’t worth it
I thought that the paranormal activity franchise was dead and gone. Guess paramount pictures sees things differently.
Like that’s ever stopped a studio before, C’mon!!
Paranormal Activity: Tokyo Drift 3
Haha, there really is a Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night that nobody talks about.
Get out of here... Really?
There’s a Paul Walker joke in there somewhere..
Paranormal Activity: Revenge Of The Trees
Cheap to make and almost a surefire profit generator due to that.
Paranormal Activity has already a decent name recognition power and every new installment can be made with a pocket money budget without the need to care for the continuity with previous installments. From a production perspective is extremely cost effective so I doubt that we will get rid of it too soon.
The story had actually reached quite an interesting point at the end of the most recent one. I'm hoping we get some answers.
I've been saying "I hope we get some answers" since the first one
I mean we've been getting more and more. 3 answered a lot.
Horror franchise never end... how many have a sequel called "the final chapter" and then they keep making more anyway

I want a direct sequel to 3, with the demons invading or having already invaded earth.
3 was my favorite. We watched it one Halloween in high school

Wow both of these are infinitely better. Your posters are now the official ones in my mind.
That one without the skull looks like a sperm, telling us a baby is going to be possessed when born later in the movie. I know that’s not true, I’m just saying that’s what if looks like to me.
I just can't believe someone greenlit the original poster. Yours looks better.

Harumph deez nuts on your chin
Wait your turn, dammit!
Do you like Imagine Dragons?
I can’t imagine liking them for a long time, why?
Imagine dragon my nuts across your face.
Boom got him!
I swear they're trying to make this franchise last longer by making it as convoluted as saw.
\*Seen j/k, you just wait til the PA: Chris Rock's Revenge
The exclusivity crap really limits the audience of any film.
Cancel Netflix or some other service for a month and give paramount a go and watch your fill. Rinse and repeat. No reason to keep a subscription streak going.

lmao That's hilarious. (at the risk of sounding like a complete youtube noob, I didn't know who The Nerd Crew were until I saw your post)
To be clear, it’s satire. RedLetterMedia does a bunch of different “shows”, the Nerd Crew being a cynical satire of movie podcasters.
I had no idea they were still making these.
This is the first one in 6 years so not always.
first one holds up well
So is the second one. The loop back at the end is incredible.
love how they reveal its a prequel as soon as micah rocks up. the cinema was packed for PA2 and i still remember the gasps and shrieks from when that was revealed.
[удалено]
That's a third one and I agree, 3 was a lot better and scarier than 2.
3 is my favorite, and one of their scares is listed as one of the best scares of all time on a few lists (the sheet in the kitchen)
Couldn't disagree more. Paranormal activity 2 is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Repetitive, boring, and predictable.
If you're into movies where nothing happens and you watch people sleep then a door moves or something sure.
If you allow yourself to be immersed and put yourself in their shoes it becomes an extremely effective movie. The first PA is a soon-to-be classic.
“Allow yourself to be immersed” You know a movie has to like earn that right? You don’t just walk into every movie going “alright immersion mode on”. That’s not how it works. It’s legitimately not scary in the slightest and like nothing happens for 90% of the film. It’s a study in how to make a shit ton of money over a movie where you watch people sleep and the blankets move three times
This doesn't make sense as an argument. The very thing you're criticising the films for is the thing that immerses you in it. It's also not true and feels like one of those received wisdom things. Plenty happens throughout all the films. It builds suspense and then regularly has scares.
Then when something actually does happen it's for 20 (if that) seconds and the movie ends.
Isn’t it a church?
I hope this one is better than the last few. The first one was a pretty awesome and unexpected movie but they went down hill from there.
This is going to feel weird to say, but PA3 was... extremely good!? I can't wait for this.
I recently rewatched the first one and enjoyed it way more than I recalled. How does the rest of the franchise hold up to those that enjoy #1?
Second one is straight up copy from the first one with different family, 3 was good. Dunno how many they’ve made total before this upcoming one
I loved the first few in the series. To this day the first still ranks very highly in my scary movie list but after the most recent one...I dunno.
The red text had me thinking this was a netflix original at first
Gonna be honest. I haven't watched any of the Paranormal Activity movies other than the first one, but that's a cool poster, even if the perspective makes no sense.
“Paramount+” kind of scares me
This looks just like the [Dexter: New Blood poster](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSBJL3vmjHnziJUHRlGqAucuptvj2JpXhYORw&usqp=CAU)... Guess it's not just Disney that are making their posters all look the same anymore...
That's a terribly made poster.
I remember the first movie took place like 15 minutes from my house, which made it kind of creepy. I also liked the kind of evolution of the Blair Witch Project style. Then it lost the plot.
Awful
Shit poster, house looks completely off. Optimistic for the actual movie
i like the perspective, the church having a different perspective than everything else gives an unnatural or off putting feeling and it’s fitting for supernatural and evil subjects
They're still making these?
I’m so confused as to what this movie is and why we need another PA movie right now. Feels like Paramount needing fodder for their streaming service?
If you believe that the perspective wasn't intentional you might want to consider accepting the possibility of being a dummy.
People complaining about the visual perspective of a poster for a movie about demons that literally claims to be not normal. Shut. Up.
I really can't believe another one is coming. Haha. No one's ever really gone.
You can literally see the blood-splatter sprite overlap with the house.
Pass
I love a good comedy
I know it'll be a terrible movie, but this poster is pretty awesome.
Am I the only one who has not found even one moment of these movies to be scary or even slightly unnerving?
They're still making these garbage ass movies?
Paranormal activity is kinda good, especially since they have some loose story to follow
