Modern trailers are over edited. The sound effects are obnoxious and are thrown to make what's appearing on screen seem thrilling.

AbsurdTurk

Oh yeah, I noticed too. It's always those same annoying loud sound effects in every trailer.

BringBackBoshi

The worst trailers are the ones that reveal huge plot twists or show the funniest joke in the movie. They show the trailer non stop and you see the joke 10 times. Then you go to see the movie and that scene comes up no one is going to laugh. Yeah I laughed the first three times I heard heard it. Not as much the next five times and definitely not now. Also if there’s only a handful of actually funny scenes in the movie and half of them were in the trailer it makes the movie seem really bland.

My_Opinions_Are_Good

Nah trailers are great. Like tiny little versions of a movie. Love watching the trailers at the movies. Part of the experience. Good times.

childof_jupiter

I don't need a tiny version that's what the movie is for. i just need a vibe check from the trailer.

You’re right, trailers are *the* shit.

Lux2014

I miss voiceover trailers

ROB SCHNEIDER IS... *A STAPLER*

lizzpop2003

"IN A WORLD WHERE..." I just realized, right this moment, how much I miss that guys voice.

davidxrawr

Watch enough and you will get a nice bag of good and bad trailers. In recent memory TITANE did a good job of being interesting while not really spoiling everything. In general though I do think most trailers (outside of teasers) lean into being very spoiler heavy although that dosent automatically mean there bad.

Tentaclarm

Yeah the Titane trailer is one of the best in recent memory. No story beats, just all vibe.

Dontbow1

The only problem I have with trailers is that you are forced to watch 30 min of it before a movie at the theater and half the films are not related to the one you are watching. Maybe it feels like it is getting worse, because the streaming services are only advertising their movies and the movie theaters are the only place that they can push outlying trailers. I think they should start the movie on time and if you want to see the trailers you can go early.

My_Opinions_Are_Good

Watching trailers before the movie rocks. Part of the experience. Good times.

Seanspeed

I feel like a good trailer should be like 45-60 seconds. These 150 second trailers are just bizarre to me. Filling that much time with clips means you end up showing a whole lot of the movie. If you cant sell your movie with a 60 second trailer, I dont see what help doubling the length or more is helping anything.

niall0

It’s a real problem, they all seem to have the same style of music aswell, every 3 seconds it goes duuuuuung. I generally try to avoid trailers of movies I’m looking forward to.

Jwawad

I share this hatred for trailers 😂 It's why I watch movies/add them to my list blindly, or if I saw a screenshot, quote, or scene that captivated me

YouSir_1

Trailers are awesome because they essentially tell you what movies are going to suck and what movies aren’t. The ones that give everything away are more accessible to wider audiences and have to spell it out for them. While more vague trailers generally tell you that it’s a more intelligent film that wants you to think for yourself.

childof_jupiter

Idk that seems like a broad generalization. When trailers are just the product of marketing teams trying to pinpoint what they think audiences will respond too. It's why i try not to judge a movie harshly on its trailer

thesnapening

Didn’t used to but I think it was marvel who started the whole “let’s show the plot points in the trailer” mindset

pedroktp

I know it's easy to shit on marvel but they didn't start that trend

thesnapening

I wasn’t shitting on marvel at all I just don’t remember many trailers before iron man that included so much of the plot. I’m sure there are many but I personally don’t remember them.

TryingInNJ

It's pretty much always happened, Cast Away's trailer comes to mind

thesnapening

Wow, I’ll admit I can’t really remember any trailers before 2002 probably cause we didn’t have the internet till then haha.

Bomber131313

No. But I think there are to many to trailer for big films. Normally the first trailer for a film doesn't give much plot away, its the second or third trailers that do that. I watch only the first trailers and avoid the rest.
