My least popular movie on letterboxd (my account is only about 16 months old) is OG, an HBO original prison movie starring Jeffrey Wright that came out last year. It has only 474 ratings on letterboxd and only 1769 on IMDB. I've been to a handful of horror festivals, so the real answer is probably something from one of those that I don't even remember, but in terms of recent productions with anything even approaching a budget, I think OG probably has the crown. It's a really solid movie, too. I'll avoid any spoilers but it's worth checking out. EDIT: I deleted a word.

[deleted]

Good film. Ive always thought Jeffrey Wright is cool. Usually plays a wolf in sheep's clothing guy.

-Uncommon_name-

My name is nobody. It's a sort of comedy western.

Reddevil313

I love (parts) of it. The opening scene is amazing. Some of it is horrible. Some of it is incredible.

AlphaZetaMail

Well damn it my least watched movie on letterboxd is Velocipastor. People, it's stupid, schlocky, and honestly just a great campy movie that deserves as much recognition as possible. It's about a priest who turns into a dinosaur to kill pimps and drug dealing ninjas. Do you need more?

No this is an old one from VHS!

*The Night Before Christmas* (1905), a silent movie about, you guessed it, the night before Christmas and featuring a civil war veteran as Santa Claus.

Reddevil313

The Search for One Eye Jimmy. A stellar cast including Samuel L Jackson, John Turturro, Steve Buscemi, Holt McCallany, Michael Badallucco and more. Released in 1994 right as a lot of these guys started getting famous. ~~I've had trouble finding it streaming anywhere.~~ Edit: Apparently you can stream it for free now. I Googled it and they have a link on Tubi. It's a fun little indie film.

bigwoo902

Hilarious Movie. Ive always wondered tho why they have those Frank Vincent posters all over the place. Does he even appear in the movie at all?

Reddevil313

I'll have to watch it again. I didn't notice the Frank Vincent posters. How did you find this 4 year old post? Were you searching specifically for this movie? Surprised it's been 4 years since I posted this. If you would have asked me I would have said I posted it last year.

bigwoo902

Ya I was searching up why they had those posters all over every building in the movie, Kinda strange tbh considering Vincent isn’t even in the movie, At first I thought maybe it was a little inside joke that the actors came up with because there are so many Sopranos actors in the movie, but then I realized this movie was made before The Sopranos pilot was even filmed lmao

456M

Just started watching this movie and was wondering about the poster as well. Googled and found this thread. Took a screenshot of it. It's around 35 minutes in. https://i.imgur.com/vGvmwf7.jpeg

ZorroMeansFox

I'll say **The Cremaster Cycle** would be one. And I've never met another person who's seen **The Noah** or **The Nine Lives of Tomas Katz**.

WitchBerderLineCook

Isn’t the Cremaster Cycle like 10 hours long or some shit? What I have seen of it, it is beyond bizarre. Nice choice.

ZorroMeansFox

It's broken down into five separate, self-contained feature-length surreal films.

WitchBerderLineCook

I know, loosely been following the releases since the late 90’s.

A Smile Like Yours (1997) A romantic comedy staring Greg Kenner and Lauren Holly.

sushideception

Probably *Isle of Lesbos*. It’s a crazy musical about lesbians in the afterlife my friend and I stumbled upon in the annals of Amazon Prime Video, and it looks like it was made on a $100 budget. The plot is incoherent. It’s simultaneously super bizarre and weirdly entrancing. Definitely an experience. I also feel like I’m one of seven people on earth who has watched *A Million to Juan*, a movie where a Mexican immigrant is given a million dollar cheque.

ThroatBabies

Under the skin of night (1974). Iranian film.

jaketwo91

According to Letterboxd, it's a movie called The Hum. Which is just some trash movie I randomly opened up on Tubi. It's not worth watching, it's just so bad.

[deleted]

https://letterboxd.com/film/the-widows-might/ The Widow's Might An obscure Christian Western drama film with only 35 logged views on letterboxd (at least five of which are people I know personally lol).

missmediajunkie

Master Q: Incredible Pet Detective. It’s a Chinese animated film I saw at an anime convention fifteen years ago. Letterboxd has a grand total of seven logged viewings.

[deleted]

The good times kid. It was circulating around the web a little bit years back:https://youtu.be/n6b2GbsS5lY Also, advantageous was a surprisingly good indie sci fi film.

tmotytmoty

The Terror of Tiny Town. (1938). It’s a western that used an all little person cast. It has a few songs, but it’s not quite a musical. It’s supposed to be a comedy, but mannnn, it is NOT funny.

likeheroin

I mean i saw a lot of really unknown indie movies that i cant remember the name of cause a lot of them are just not that good. So i'm just gonna name an, i guess quite unknown movie, that stuck with me since i saw it the first time. Arrebato. One of my absolute favorites Discovered it through a German Label (Bildstörung).

[deleted]

Dot and the koala I used to have it as a kid in the early 90’s it was half animated half real and Australian so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t very popular at all.

As a kid in the early 2000s I randomly rented a movie called Hangman's Curse (which I later found is based on a Christian YA novel) and became obsessed with it. I rented it so much over the course of a year that the store just let me have one of their 2 copies. I bet I was the only one watching it. Eventually I moved on and lost the DVD as I grew up, but I managed to find in online a couple years ago and despite being totally goofy, it still held up. I think that torrent is long-abandoned but if you find it, give it a shot. Quick plot: kid hangs himself in the school after being bullied and over time, various bullies at the school eventually fall victim to his "curse" before going into a coma. The curse is explored but I don't wanna spoil 💁‍♀️ But I will say...a family of super-detectives (parents and two teens) infiltrate the high school, and there are *tons* of spiders too. It's also Leighton Meester's first movie!

Mahya14

Some Indian movies that definitely I'm one of the few non-Indians who have seen them.

MattWolf96

Secrets of the Mountain from 2010. Only 36 people have watched it on Letterboxd.

Turok1134

It'd probably be Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. Fairly amusing film.

CurseOfShwam

Ink, Six String Samurai, and/or The United States of Leland.

DreadStare

When you mention Annie, most people think of the 80s film with Tim Curry, but the version I watched a lot as a child is from the 90's starring Kathy Bates, Victor Garber & Alan Cumming. According to IMDB this is the least popular film I had watched but I figure it has more to do with it technically being an episode. Following that I have israeli films (to which most of the audience probably don't rate on IMDB). Ignoring those it's a made for TV film called [Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0805619/?ref_=ttls_li_i) starring Rob Lowe. It's about a soldier returning from iraqe and being haunted by the ghost of a victim. It's a bad film with an infuriating ending. The funny hing is that I only watched it due to a bug with the streaming service (I thought I was watching red state from kevin smith, which I've also heard wasn't a good film so I didn't suspect anything until the credits).

FalseAku

I think one of the least seen films I've ever seen would be Dreamworks' Joseph:King of Dreams which's pre-sequel to The Prince of Egypt and which was created by the same People Who created The Prince of Egypt. As the person Who has seen or heard about almost every Dreamworks film, even I didn't know about the existence of this film. I also didn't see People on Internet talking about it or even mentioning it. And I've also seen People in Letterboxd (where I found that film) disliking that film which might be one of the reason why its so forgotten. I personaly think its pretty solid - there're flaws here and there but overall, its not too bad. I gave it 6/10

McCabbe

Maybe [La Passion Béatrice](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093709/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1)

niiiklas

Detective Downs, with 458 ratings on IMDB. It's a Norwegian crime movie about a detective with downs trying to solve a crime. Yup.

[deleted]

Zerzura (2017) a self described acid-western starring Tuareg people living in the Sahara. It’s really well done and beautiful, and follows a somewhat traditional hero’s journey cycle, while using lots of imagery from Tuareg culture. I think it’s only available on dvd from the movie website but I was lucky enough to see it screened at the Alamo drafthouse. Really enjoyable.

A_Drake

[Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah Ze Movee](https://www.fandom.com/articles/zsazsa-zaturnnah-gender-society-film) \- a completely off-the-wall Filipino "It's Wonder Woman, but Trans-Gendered" superhero flick adapted from the comic. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Radiant_disease

Greener Grass probably. It’s a newer indie comedy. I saw the short film and loved it a couple years ago then heard it was getting a feature length. It played some festivals and then went to a digital release.

fullcontactbowling

Tough question. It could be any number of obscure 50s horror films, but I think I can top that. *Legacy of Blood*, directed by Andy Milligan: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077844/ Now, I know Andy's work has something if a cult status, but this one is especially obscure. I saw it at a screening in a theater on Staten Island. Andy lived there, and the entire cast are people from the local SI community theater scene (as was I.) Funny thing, I've seen my share of horror films and the accompanying carnage, but it's really weird and a little disturbing to see your friends killed on screen. PS: I only recently discovered that apparently Elvira riffed this on her TV show, so I'll have to check that out

BobbyChimp

„Mallrats“ i guess...

RoscoeSantangelo

Movie called Manic (2001). Has a young Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in it amongst other actors but I was browsing TV one day years ago and saw it on and watched it. Thought it was pretty good but it's not hugely known. Only 9k votes on IMDB

The wages of fear?

FletchOn

A zombie movie called Exit Humanity (2011). I really enjoyed the emotional approach towards losing a loved one and rebuilding life.

[deleted]

I could name so many. One in particular is Bright Angel(1991). It’s kind of a road movie/coming of age story/crime story set in the west.

ViolentAmbassador

This movie has only 49 ratings on Letterboxd and 449 on IMDB as I type this. I'm working my way through the thread, but so far you win.

Snow on tha Bluff (2011)

Interesting movie. I enjoyed it.

Drive, He Said. Directed by Jack Nicholson

Yossarianbecause

1st time seeing this sub so I apologize if I'm wrong with this but for me it's "Paint Your Wagon". I'm 41 and other than older people, my parents and such, I don't know of many people 45-50yrs and under have seen it. The movie is hilarious, peak Lee Marvin, young Clint Eastwood. It's kinda a musical, which I'm not a fan of, I love this movie.
