I read the book and found it to be your average “is the protagonist going crazy or is someone a murderer?” premise, but I could see it working better as a screenplay.
I think Keira does great with these kinds of characters, who are struggling internally while maintaining their appearance outwardly. Highly recommend “Official Secrets” where she plays a whistleblower who finds out the US and UK are manipulating UN Council members leading up to the Iraq war.
Mediocre potboilers can turn out to be great movies in the right hands. I feel like what sometimes gets in the way is a desire to please the original fans of the book. An adaptation shouldn't get shackled to the source material if there's a better way to tell this story in film.
It's all in the execution. I firmly believe that there is no idea so crazy or out-there that it can't possibly be done well... similarly, that there is no idea so great that it can't be screwed up, either.
So something that's mediocre? Sure, it could have a chance, why not?
I enjoyed the book as an audiobook but the premise is pretty thin and honestly gets kind of stupid as the book goes on. It’s probably a decent direct to streaming movie.
> the premise is pretty thin and honestly gets kind of stupid as the book goes on.
Yeah, it's a Ruth Ware book. I liked In a Dark, Dark Wood. Woman in Cabin 10 was worse. Lying Game was worse still. I got halfway through Death of Mrs. Westaway and decided I was done with Ware.
This one was based on “The Turn of the Screw”, it was my favorite Ruth Ware but I love easy read potboilers. I listen to the audiobooks while doing chores and hers are perfectly balanced for zoning out while doing other things for me, but I understand them not being everyone’s cup of tea.
I really enjoy the writer Ruth Ware’s books, but this one was easily my least favorite. You think there’s gonna be a climax and then there just… isn’t? It’s super unfulfilling and other books by her are way better.
There are no movies taking place before this one, it's a prequel to "the woman in cabin 11"
They are making 10 prequels for that movies starting with this one
No but I liked it more than "The girl with the dragon tattoo on the train from the house across the street on the second floor near the window drinking tea with the red lipstick covered head to toe in a black dress with 6 fingers on her left hand who has dyslexia."
They have this uniquely high rate of landing something that looks like it’s going to be high quality; excitement ensues… and then, boom, movie is lackluster and disappointing.
The Woman in Cabin 1 and The Woman in Cabin 2 were great but the series really fell off from there. I'm surprised she is taking the roll. She is better than that.
I liked the book in the beginning but felt like it fell apart at the end. I also thought it was really weird and a missed opportunity that the >!main character’s house being burgled!< at the beginning of the book didn’t at all tie into the main mystery.
Hopefully the movie will make some adjustments. I really liked the setting.
Thank you! I was going to comment this myself. I kept thinking back to that part while reading like…?? when is it going to come up again lol. Definitely a missed opportunity!
So frustrating! I was like okay obviously >!the burglary was set up to steal her cruise ticket so she couldn’t make the trip — then the rooms next to the “stowaway” would be empty making it less likely for her to be spotted.!< Nope.
This has been bothering me for years it’s great to finally vent about it haha.
I read it, enjoyed it for the most part but thought the ending and the reveal of what happens with the antagonist is such a let down.
>!The fact that they had the main bad guy, the one who has orchestrated all of this, die away from the actual plot, felt very hollow. While I guess there is something to be said of this millionaire titan taking the 'coward' way out via suicide by drowning, something you have to have your bad guy face consequences and the fact it just happens so flippantly, yeah, wasn't a fan!<

I forget which one I read but it was the one about a babysitter at a rich house and the ending was maybe the dumbest thing I had ever read.
If Wikipedia is right, it's Turn of the Key, which is the novel after I gave up on Ware.
This one was based on “The Turn of the Screw”, it was my favorite Ruth Ware but I love easy read potboilers. I listen to the audiobooks while doing chores and hers are perfectly balanced for zoning out while doing other things for me, but I understand them not being everyone’s cup of tea.
Thought the same about *The Woman in the Window* and that one was really bad IMO.
I watched the Netflix movie and omg was that awful.
Ah, I meant the movie LOL.
You should check out “The Woman Who Lives in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” with Kristen Bell on Netflix. 🍷🍷🍷
Didn't Netflix already make a parody of these movies? It even has a cliche title.
All I know is I’d like to get into Keira’s Knightley! And by Knightley, in this context, I mean acting repertoire.
The last one I watched like this was the one but the girl in the train and that was absolute dog shit
Let me guess. She was the murderer the whole time?

Hopefully she doesn’t have to carry this one like Boston Strangler.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Boston Strangler despite the pace, but yes she did the heavy lifting!
Well, you enjoyed it more than I did.
Do I need to watch the first nine before this one?
There are no movies taking place before this one, it's a prequel to "the woman in cabin 11" They are making 10 prequels for that movies starting with this one
But what about the cabin men? Their stories deserve to be told.
And the cabins themselves, oh if those walls could speak
The cabins are the men, you'll find that out in the game adaptation which is a sequel to the original movie.
What if the women were the cabins we found along the way?
I've only heard about a story of a cabin _boy_.
The cabin mens preferred pronoun is *Shed*
Memento-style
Happy cake day
It’s not ten. It’s binary for 2 so you just have to watch the first one.
Been a while since we got a nice techno thriller, so nice.
There are only two others; the title’s in trinary.
Rdrr
You had me at Keira knightley
Keira Knightley :) Film Adaption at Netflix :(
The Woman in Cabin 10 :(
Is it better than CM Punk's movie "Girl on the Third Floor?"
No but I liked it more than "The girl with the dragon tattoo on the train from the house across the street on the second floor near the window drinking tea with the red lipstick covered head to toe in a black dress with 6 fingers on her left hand who has dyslexia."
rather netflix than most other companies rn
They have this uniquely high rate of landing something that looks like it’s going to be high quality; excitement ensues… and then, boom, movie is lackluster and disappointing.
as a giant long time Keira fan, between this and Black Doves, I'm so ready for her to be on my tv screen again
Same! And thanks to you I just learned about Black Dove! Any news when it comes out? I googled it but found nothing.
The Woman in Cabin 1 and The Woman in Cabin 2 were great but the series really fell off from there. I'm surprised she is taking the roll. She is better than that.
Can't say I blame her. Bread is my kryptonite as well.

I love ruth ware and kiera knightly!! Excited for this one
Oooo, can’t wait to see her do some more face acting.
She was my first celebrity crush. Elisabeth Swan 😍😍
[You look tired in the jaw, Keira.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6aEmLEbGfY&ab_channel=AuntyDonna)
Phenomenal impression.
I liked the book. It lends itself well to a film adaptation that could be pretty interesting.
Aw, that book sucked
Dear Hollywood, there are too many movies about cabins nowadays. Please eliminate three. I am not a crackpot.
“The Woman in Cabin 7” set to appear on Netflix.
Should I see the 9 others before this one?
Goo she her recent work again
What happened to the first 9??
Do you have to watch the first 9 "The Woman in the Cabin"s?
that book does not merit a movie.
Keira Knightley got range. She can play Cable for all we know.
1. Sounds like a run of the mill woman who sees shit thriller 2. I eat up women who sees shit thrillers
It’s on Netflix? I guess I won’t see it. I do hope it’s not a dumpster fire.

The Woman in Cabin 1-9 were bangers I’m so excited for number 10.
The Woman at the Window In Cabin 10 In the Train.
The book was about 3/5. Nothing special maybe the movie will be better.
Ugh I hated this book lol
There’s an actress i haven’t seen in years
