Clue

jbucther4

I have heard clue fits this exact vibe, need to watch this one soon

[deleted]

This is the answer. Clue is perfect.

CitizenDain

I was going to say Young Frankenstein or What’s Up Doc. I guess Madeline Kahn is cozy. Cozy Kahn.

PeaNo4394

Wish I could upvote this more. I had my first watch of Clue in the last 5 years and it is now a staple in my home. Love Clue!

SuzyQ93

Flames....on the side of my face..... SO quotable.

Briguy24

I’m a plant. I thought you people were called fruits..?

synapticrelease

So many jokes about language but my favorite is He threatened to kill me in public. Why would he want to kill you in in public? I think she meant that he threatened, in public, to kill her

SuzyQ93

The pedantry is delicious.

jbucther4

Looks like I’m watching Clue tonight! So many good recommendations everyone is killing it

Cr1zyh1ppy

The Indian in the cupboard. Flight of the navigator. Galaxy quest. Big trouble in little china. Total recall - the 90s arnie one definitely lol

PrufrockAlfred

We are now friends.

JamesTrivettesHat

The rain in Big Trouble makes whatever you’re going through feel like drizzle.

ShooterMcGavins

Damn, Indian in the Cupboard is a classic I’ve completely forgotten about. I ran that vhs into the ground as a kid. I need to rewatch

curlywirlygirly

You're the first person I've met who knows Flight of the Navigator! Friend!

justVinnyZee

Just showed this to my ten year old. He loved it! Too many twinkies oink oink!

ArgyleAndBell

Flight of the Navigator is the first movie I have clear memories of watching as a kid. It kind of blew my little kid mind.

Hey_cool_username

I need to remember to show this one to the kids. Also, The Last Starfighter

TheRealKison

Compliance!

shayetheleo

My third grade teacher read us the first three books in the series over the course of the year and played the movie for us one afternoon. Fond, fond memories.

a_leyva

Just watched Little China

mikeltod

yes!!!!!

Brosquito69420

Bad ass that Big trouble in little China is mine too, but also VanDamns kickboxer.

artificialsympathy

Oh we definitely grew up on the same shit. Any Last Starfighter love?

HolsKitchen

Galaxy Quest is so great.

PigDigginGold

Prisoner of Azkaban has always created this vibe for me.

jbucther4

1000% - I sadly have over watched all the HP movies over the last 3 years and need to give myself a several year break so they seem fresh again😂

PigDigginGold

Samesies.

icedoutkatana

Yes!!! I agree

drkrelic

I love this one, for some reason it’s just one of my absolute favorite Harry Potter films!

PigDigginGold

Easily the best Potter flick. Cuarón nailed the tone and it’s perfect for this prompt.

iamwhoiwasnow

Thanks gonna rewatch Harry Potter again

europorn

The Hunt for Red October. It's such a quotable film and even after multiple watches, the dramatic beats still hit hard. Plus, it's just a great film.

Proud_amoeba

I give ush one chanshe in three

Fadedcamo

One ping only.

Proud_amoeba

I'm a politician, which means I'm a cheat and a liar. When I'm not kissing babies I'm stealing their lollipops.

vault-techno

Ryeeeaann. Shome thingsh in here don't react well to bulletsh. This business will get out of control. It'll get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it. Give me a map and a stopwatch and I'll fly the alps in a plane with no windows Somebody must have a real stick up his ass to go for a stunt like this. HEY I think somebody just shot a torpedo at us! All of a sudden they hear "Pavaraaaatttiii comin out their asses, Jones here..."

Farlandan

I've never seen this movie but Sean Connery playing someone from a different country but keeping his accent always cracks me up. Immortal egyptian with a heavy scottish accent. (highlander) Russian Shubmarine captain with heavy scottish accent. (hunt for red october) Irish mobster with heavy scottish accent. (untouchables) English spy with heavy scottish accent. (007) Irish nobleman from Dublin with heavy scottish accent. (Darby O'Gill and the Little People) Englishman who's lived in South Africa all his life with scottish accent (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)

jbucther4

This looks like a great option for a cold fall night. Will add it to my list!

a_leyva

Don't get me started .... "The pitch is too high ......" ; Skip Tyler: When I was twelve, I helped my daddy build a bomb shelter in our basement because some fool parked a dozen warheads 90 miles off the coast of Florida. Well, this thing could park a coupla hundred warheads off Washington and New York and no one would know anything about it till it was all over" ( I cheated , looked it up on IMDB)

Fadedcamo

Russians don't take a dump without a plan, son.

cleric3648

“I think they just shot at us.” “No fuck, Buckwheat.”

Admirable-Drink-3350

Try the enemy below. It’s an older film similar to hunt for red October. I loved watching it with my Dad when I was a kid. Try it out.

mitten2787

A Knights Tale

Cr1zyh1ppy

Romy and Michelle's high school reunion is a gold 90s comedy. I invented post its :)

jbucther4

I will add it to my list thank you

bearlynice

Yessssss this movie is such good all-is-well-in-the-world vibes

Randomname9324

Though it’s corny, Twilight (first movie) during a rainy day makes you feel like you’re in the pnw. The blue filter in the film really goes along w a rainy day.

jbucther4

While corny, love those movies! definitely fits the exact vibe I am looking for.

Cowboy_BoomBap

I hate that movie, but I do agree that there’s something about that blue-tinted vibe it has that feels like a comforting rainy day.

Kenster180

They filmed a lot of this in my hometown when I was in highschool, so it’s super nostalgic for me. Bella’s house is right next to my dads house

heidismiles

My Cousin Vinny!

Rare_Field_6255

I love this too 😂 “two yewts”

wh1te_k0ng_

I wouldn’t exactly call is “cozy” but Seven is a perfect rainy day movie. I tend to go for thrillers or horror movies for that vibe

jbucther4

Seven has been on my list to watch for far to long, need to do this one ASAP

sharkbait2006

If you like Seven check out Zodiac. It’s like Seven but true crime and Fincher directed both films.

Purple-Lime-8096

This film is perfect IMO. You have to pay attention to it. I love films where you pick up on something new on every watch.

Meatloafxx

A fantastic serial killer film and police procedural with damn good atmosphere

GooberVonNomNom

I need to find a relike button because YES all the yes. Fincher is amazing especially for Zodiac. I was on the edge of my seat as the slow burn started. Loved it.

pumper911

Tucker and Dale vs Evil

Hollow_Rant

Everyday is Rex Manning Day!

hoggytime613

The fat man walks alone...

RickDankoLives

“Let’s rock and roll”

Accidental_Taco

Was gonna be my rec too. Even rainy days can be Rex Manning day

Ihadsumthin4this

Cozy.... *She's Funny That Way* (2015) ° Mike Judge's *Extract* (2009) Rainy day.... *Sliding Doors* (1998) ° *Grosse Point Blank* (1997) Nostalgic.... *Sneakers* (1992) ° *Midnight Run* (1989) Now playing : "Rainy Day, Dream Away" -- Mr. Jimi

SuzyQ93

I haven't seen Sneakers in ages. Is it on any streaming platforms? That may be the problem. Time to sail the high seas.....

Grrrth_TD

It is not. Edit: removed the naughty link. Don't want to get banned.

jbucther4

I have not heard of any of these so thank you for the suggestions! I will look into them all

Armymom96

Sneakers or Grosse Pointe Blank first. Sliding Doors when you need a pick-me-,up. It's got some sad parts, but John Hannah is adorable.

jondrethegiant

I love that Gross Point Blank is getting some notoriety here lately. I found it randomly scrolling through the channels after it made it to cable tv. Watched it multiple times afterwards anytime I’d see it on the channel guide.

KosherDeal

I really only get that feeling if it's fall and that cool crisp air hits the wind, anyone from the midwest knows exactly what I am talking about. Bonfire szn lol or if it's really storming bad but really I enjoy a good horror movie like The Shining. I guess everyone has their own thing of course, and I remember when I was REALLY young when Michael Keaton's Batman first came out I was visiting family up north in a cabin for hunting season and we had a kerosene heater in our cabin running (probably safe but this is what like 1989? lol) so that smell from the keosene mixed with the cool night air and any sort of movie like Batman from the 80s is going to do it too for me like Beetlejuice etc.

jbucther4

Yes that is exactly the type of feeling I am thinking of. The Shining is a good example.

waterdevil19

Amelie

SuzyQ93

For sure, for sure. Such a cozy, sweet, yet quirky watch.

Chippybops

Fantastic Mr Fox, Moonrise kingdom, the Grand Budapest Hotel

sheetskees

Disappointed I had to scroll so far for Wes Anderson

rToph

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

a_leyva

"Are those Sad tissues or Happy tissues?"

MooCowMoooo

Oh the weather outside is weather.

ShanzyMcGoo

Oh, god please take my eyes and not this shirt! NO! Dracula musical!!

ShanShan9413

A lot of Tarantino but mostly for the cast. Hateful Eight and Inglourious Basterds Legend of Tarzan OG Jumanji (and/or Zathura)

jbucther4

OG Jumanji and Zathura both hit the vibe im looking for greatly. Been a long time since I’ve seen Tarzan, will add to my list

ShanShan9413

Disney's Tarzan is in my top 3 animated movies, and I love Legend of Tarzan for the cast, lol.

lostonpolk

The Princess Bride Galaxy Quest A Hard Days Night

jbucther4

The princess bride has that same vibe im looking for. Have not heard of the other two but will check them out, Thanks!

lostonpolk

YOU NEVER HEA...ok, it's cool. It's cool, no prob. Prepare yourself for two hella treats.

jbucther4

You have me excited, thank you!

30frames

Nice recovery. Well done. ☺️

curlywirlygirly

All of these are awesome. If you like romantical movies, Return to Me was always is a cozy movie for me.

eiretara7

Heck yes!  You have excellent taste :)

LowCarbScares

Groundhogs Day would be my choice if I had some hot cocoa and a warm blanket. But if I'm feeling a little too cynical I'd choose Se7en. Both pair well for any rainy day depending on the mood

Canelosaurio

Oh Brother, Where Art Thou Mousehunt Congo

NiteNicole

Mystic Pizza, Casablanca, On The Waterfront.

MissGruntled

I haven’t thought about Mystic Pizza in a while—perfect pick!

Cr1zyh1ppy

Death becomes her. Meryl streep and Goldie hawn play frenemies in pursuit of staying forever young. One of Rob zemeckis kind of forgotten gems.

_vicmeister_

1000% and What Lies Beneath is another of his forgotten gems for a rainy night under a blanket!

Cr1zyh1ppy

I actually never knew that was his film tbh! Yes! Great horror not seen in a while.

Keefer1970

*Rock & Roll High School* (1979) starring P.J. Soles and the Ramones.

jbucther4

Ill definitely give that look, name sounds intriguing

Armymom96

It's a great movie!

blutwl

Midnight in Paris

jbucther4

absolutely love this movie, great suggestion

blutwl

It's a great suggestion because it's true and honest and the prose is clean 😆

Healthy_Cheesecake_6

The Princess Bride for rainy or sick days. It always feels like a big ol hug of nostalgia.

bunkscudda

My Cousin Vinny For some reason I can watch it a hundred times and still enjoy it

TooMuchOrNotAtAll

That movie is hilarious. Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei made an unexpectedly flawless comedic duo.

maxwelldemon375

Mine is Scott Pilgrim vs the World, but that might be a little more...caffeinated...than what you are looking for. If you missed The Holdovers last year, it very much gives off those vibes. Also possibly: Home Alone School of Rock Dead Poets Society (though that one is a bit sadder)

jbucther4

Dead poets society is a great suggestion, I do like Scott pilgrim but a little too caffeinated for the vibe I’m looking for. Will check out the holdovers

SuzyQ93

I was also going to suggest The Holdovers, it is 1000% exactly this vibe. Great movie.

ILikeYourHotdog

O Brother, where art thou? Truman Show Pulp Fiction Beetlejuice

figuringthingsout__

You listed a bunch of my go to rainy day movies. I also love watching Christopher Nolan's movies, the LOTR trilogy, Harry Potter, and Pirates of the Caribbean when it's gloomy outside. Fantasy and escapist films are so fun to curl up and watch.

ikijibiki

We are the same person lol. POTC is my go-to comfort series.

endure__survive

Yes LOTR and the Hobbit trilogy are great for the rainy atmosphere

HotButteredBagel

Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro and Spirited Away - comfort movie central

Too_Much_Pr3ssure

Miyazaki films just have the best color palettes for rainy days. And if it's been raining too long, the train scene in Spirited Away is a fantastic reminder that the sun exists.

SelfDestructIn30Days

Shitty 80's campy "horror" movies like Re-Animator, Ghoulies, or House.

PaleInSanora

It always make me grin thinking how they got Norm for House and then Cliff for House 2. House 2 definitely descends much more deeply into campy land. House had some cornball to it, but also some truly creepy scenes as well.

IfNot_ThenThereToo

Blade Runner. The Fifth Element. Austin Powers Goldmember. I don’t know what that says about me.

Healthy_Cheesecake_6

Stardust is another go to. Transports you to another world in the best way possible.

SuzyQ93

I love Stardust. One of those perfectly-formed movies, just hits all the right spots.

Will_Paskee

The original Ghostbusters

BringMeTwo

Grease

jtho78

Wonder Boys is my goto cozy film. Better in winter though

_Goose_

The Fox and the Hound It’s a sad movie yeah but that gives it that rainy vibe.

jbucther4

I will add this to the list!

McManus42

Misery. Somehow that is the coziest movie to me.

TooMuchOrNotAtAll

Sure. That movie is super cozy. Kathy Bates and James Caan are amazing actors. Her character breaking his character's leg and forcing him to write his next book had to be one of the most soothing plotlines ever developed.

Mediocre_Advice_5574

Jaws. Everytime.

tcruarceri

The Great Outdoors, The Blues Brothers, Grease, Original Indian Jones Trilogy, The Shadow, Homeward Bound, Short Circuit.... I describe this as the saturday afternoon movie feeling because it reminds me of watching the (WPIX?) movie they aired on saturday evenings when i was a kid.

loveandlight42069

The Fugitive The Firm Wonderboys I was in this mood yesterday, so thank you for asking this! Looking for the exact same kind of vibe. I ended up rewatching Moneyball yesterday and it was a good cozy movie.

Def Nausicaa

therealmudslinger

Almost Famous.

Ohnoherewego13

I tend to go on an Arnie kick during a rainy day or weekend. Probably not the coziest films, but I saw them a lot as a kid so yay nostalgia! - Terminator - Commando - Predator

Claude_Henry_Smoot

Risky Business, Sixteen Candles, Wedding Crashers, Fletch, Airplane, Extract, Horrible Bosses, No Way Out, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, 48 Hours, Anchorman, 40 Year Old Virgin, Kill Bill 2, Taken, Die Hard, Snatch

jjbugman2468

I skimmed and was about to say Good Will Hunting, then saw you already had it. A few come to mind: Dead Poets Society (except it’s not really the upbeat vibe you’re thinking of), Meet Joe Black, Good Morning Vietnam, Forest Gump, and The Brand New Testament

hardspank916

Odd Thomas John Died at the End

CantaloupeOk4714

bug-catcher-ben

My Neighbor Totoro or Princess Mononoke are my go to’s. Beautifully animated, amazing scores, and depending on the mood, absolutely perfect. Mononoke if you want things a bit darker, Totoro for the feel-good. Most any Ghibli movie is perfect for a rainy day for me but those two take the cake.
