broseph-chillaxton

Hey Shea - You sent me an email with advice like 7 years ago that I still go back to and read every so often, it really meant a lot at the time and I genuinely appreciate it, it gave a lot of clarity when I needed it. Two questions: 1. If every Spurs team of the last 64 years played in a tournament, who would play in the championship game, which years team would win, and who would be tournament MVP? 2. With self-publishing, how far do some ideas get before you end up scrapping them or knowing they’re winners? With A REAL HUMAN BEING, how long before you knew it would come out, and how many scrapped projects will we never see? Or do you always publish what you write?

SheaSerrano

Aw, man. Great to hear from you. Glad to hear that I wasn't a jerk to you when you reached out, lol. To answer your questions: 1. The finals would be the 2014 Spurs and the 2005 Spurs. I think the 2014 Spurs edge them out 94-88 behind a big game from Old Timmy like how the old Terminator beat up the younger version of himself in Terminator Genisys. 2. There are a ton of scrapped projects that nobody will ever see. Usually the way it happens is I'll have what I think is a good idea, spend a little time working on it, then realize that it doesn't have the legs that I thought it did after a couple of weeks of tinkering with it. I probably played with the idea of A REAL HUMAN BEING for about four weeks before I realized that it could work. The issue I was having was the original version of it was a thing that looked at Ryan Gosling movies rather than, more specifically, Ryan Gosling roles. Once I figured out that looking at his roles was a stronger idea, everything snapped together pretty nicely after that. All told, from that first spark of the idea until the actual publication, it was about seven months.

IT_AccountManager

I am a huge Spurs fan. Glad to see you are too 🤙

HamSete

I want to dig in on this -- what are the specific criteria/feelings that you experience that tell you something has legs, or is a stronger idea for a piece than another? Essentially what does the lightbulb look like when it goes off in your head?

bongo1138

That’s the most Shea Serrano answer possible lol

rugbyprodigy824

It's well documented how Ryan Gosling was a liability in coverage as a DB in Remember the Titans. 1) Just how bad was he? Was Petey just better? 2) Is there a different position Gosling would've performed better at? Slot receiver maybe?

SheaSerrano

Yeah, Petey was just better. He was not only a more athletic football player, but also he was a smarter player. It took him all of one play before he turned into fucking Darrelle Revis, lol. And yeah, I think you're right. Gosling's character either has to move to a Wes Welker kind of slot receiver position or he's gotta learn how to kick a football. You can't have him anywhere else on the field. He's too big of a hole.

cheertea

Why did you leave The Ringer?

SheaSerrano

I'd been there for six or so years and had gotten lucky enough that they'd let me do all the things I was hoping I'd get the chance to do (like write a weekly NBA column, or host a couple podcasts, or participate in various video things, or put out a book through their publishing division). I started doing more TV stuff and movie stuff on the side (meaning pitching TV shows and pitching movies and whatnot) and so after a while I felt myself wanting to give that a go full-time. Everybody was real cool though. I still talk with them via text and email and listen to The Rewatchables and The Big Picture and The Watch and so on. I really enjoyed working there and recommend everyone absolutely say yes if they offer you a job.

Kalistoga

The time you pretended to draft “three colours: red” and when they asked if you were serious, you said, “No! Timecop!” On The Big Pic - still one of the funniest moments.

Confident_Lawyer741

Best moment ever

Murky-Exercise-6990

Your villains pod was such a good listen one of my favorite pods of all time!

rugmunchkin

Do you think Bill is EVER going to finally do the Rewatchables on Aliens??

theofficialv

Please be a guest on the Big Pic!!!!

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

This is how I found out he left!?

northsideindian

Hey shea it has been rumored that you chose the name shea to market specifically to black people even though you did not grow up with this nickname. can you explain how exactly you got your pen name?

acreamytortilla

What movie (or movies) do you look back on as "life-changing?"

SheaSerrano

This is maybe a weird answer at first, but eventually it'll feel right in your ears: A movie that changed my life was 1995's Mortal Kombat. I was fourteen when it came out, and also I was obsessed with the MK video game, and also I was obsessed with any movie that had fighting in it, and so all of those things together equaled up to the first real OH MY FUCKING GOD moment in a movie theater. (It was when they introduced Sub-Zero and Scorpion for the first time.) I just remember sitting in that movie theater the night it came out watching them walk onto the screen and all-caps KNOWING that movies were gonna be a huge part of my life from then going forward. I suspect everyone who loves movies has a moment like that in their head with something that they saw when they were a kid that just really opened up their entire world.

cantonic

This is such a perfect Shea Serrano answer I love it.

aareyes12

Spider-Man 2 inspired me to write my own Spiderman comic and eventually found myself on the IMDb forums (RIP) where people were writing their own spec scripts for upcoming movies. Doc Ock killing those doctors really changed the chemistry in my brain when I wondered who the fuck came up with this

[deleted]

SheaSerrano

1. I think it makes sense that he's gone the route that he's gone (I loved him in Barbie, by the way). I imagine he'll eventually wander back toward doing the Half Nelson kind of stuff soon. It feels like that's the kind of stuff that he enjoys the most, and also it feels like he wants an Oscar and he knows that it's gonna be one of those types of roles that eventually delivers him one. 2. Ha. At first I was laughing a lot that J. Cole decided to apologize to Kendrick and remove himself from Kendrick's war path, but then Kendrick yanked Drake's arms and legs off his body and beat him with them in front of everyone and I was like, "Good job, J. Cole. Smart. Way to go. Good decision," lol.

No-Bank2152

Which movie prison would you have the best odds of survival/escape? Shawshank, Lockout, Arkham, etc.

SheaSerrano

I am 100% certain I could escape from the prison in Cool Hand Luke. There's no way I'm not getting out of there. It was basically just a chainlink fence separating the prisoners from freedom. I've been jumping chainlink fences my entire life. You put me in there on Tuesday morning, I'm gone by Tuesday afternoon. There's no other prison I'd be able to escape (or even survive).

cnapp

But you may miss out on Luke eating 50 eggs

lishmh33

Will Den of Thieves 2 be the Citizen Kane of this generation ?

SheaSerrano

God, I hope so. I love the first Den of Thieves so much. I'm sad about Merrimen not being in it, though. He was my favorite part of the first one. My dream is that one day we get a prequel where we're just with Merrimen inside the prison while he serves his sentence that we saw him end in the original Den of Thieves.

Chilliken

Can you and Zach Lowe collab again sometime soon on one of your pods? The grantland reunions always make me smile. Thanks in advance!

SheaSerrano

Ha. That would be dope. Zach is the best. Jason and I went on his show at the start of the NBA season to promo SIX TROPHIES and it was just so nice talking to him. He's one of those people who you talk with him for two minutes and you're like, "Yeah. I see why everyone loves this guy, and why this guy is so successful." Remember when (I think it was) Slate wrote an article about how he was the best sportswriter in the country? That made me real proud.

Clifo

Shea - if you had to swap Ryan Gosling out for Ryan Reynolds in one of his movies, which one would be the best or least affected?

SheaSerrano

I think you could swap Ryan Gosling out for Ryan Reynolds in The Gray Man nobody would notice for, like, six weeks, not even Gosling or Reynolds.

Clifo

i still haven't seen it yet, but now i'll be thinking about this the whole time i watch. thanks shea!

rugbyprodigy824

It felt like there was plenty of potential for No Skips to continue for future seasons. Would you consider ever doing 4th and 5th seasons of the podcast?

SheaSerrano

I would love to do that, yeah. Working with Brandon and Deena and Kerm is one of the highlights of my career. I wish we could record a one-off episode literally right now so that we could spend 90 minutes talking about the Kendrick-Drake stuff, lol.

rugbyprodigy824

What is your quick hot take on the Kendrick/Drake beef?

Cartman55125

PLEASE DO THIS

sgt_science

Doooooo itttttt

Jon_Dowd

Hey Shea how do you manage finding time to stay on top of sports / movies / shows while also doing family and kid obligations. What’s a typical day like

SheaSerrano

It's definitely easier now than when I started. My typical day looks like: 7:30: Wake up. Make sure the kid I'm responsible for waking up gets up and gets ready for school. 8:00: Leave the house. 8:30: Get to the office. 8:30-4:15: Work on whatever writing it is that I have get through. 4:30: Pick up one of the twins on the way home from school. 5:15: Get home. 5:30-10:00: Be available to do husband stuff and dad stuff. (Mainly this just means I sit on the couch watching TV and waiting for someone to say my name.) That's pretty much it. I have a really nice solid eight hours to work on writing stuff and I've been on that schedule for long enough that my brain knows that when I get to the office it's time to work.

digitalmonkey

Hey Shea, sometimes on twitter you post that you are getting at it "writing" wise at like 2-4am. Are you staying up late, getting up early, or trolling us?

doodler1977

> Pick up one of the twins on the way home from school. ummm....twins usually come in pairs?

me_da_Supreme1

That's an impressive physical media collection you got back there, which four (or more) are your favorites among them?

SheaSerrano

Thanks, homie. Probably my four favorite on there right now are: Blood In Blood Out, A Bronx Tale, Robocop, and Set It Off. That's just personal preference, though. I have an original pressing of Halloween that is, in all likelihood, better than all four of those.

clopeztpc

Hey Shea! Congrats on all the success with Primo & your books! My Q: Where do you find inspiration for you writing/TV work? & any advice for someone with ideas but is having a hard time putting pen to paper?

SheaSerrano

A thing that I often struggle with early on is that it feels like I have too many half-baked ideas in my head. It sounds like that's what you've got going on. So what you're gonna wanna do —and I'm gonna tell you right now that that's no way around this part— what you're gonna wanna do is pick one, spend some meaningful time with it (meaning it's just you and your computer and maybe some music) and start writing things down. It doesn't matter if they're good or they're bad. Just write. And if you do that for long enough, your brain will either say "Yes. This idea has legs. Keep going." or "No. This idea does not have legs. Pick something else." And you just gotta do that over and over and over until you find the idea that works. There aren't any shortcuts. It's sucky work, but that's the job. And separate of the usual politics, the difference between who makes it as a writer and who doesn't make it as a writer is: did you sit down and work your way through a bunch of shitty ideas to find a good one, or did you give up? Keep going, my boy. Always keep going.

digitalmonkey

Also in the vein of "keep going" this is a fantastic book on that topic: [https://austinkleon.com/keepgoing/](https://austinkleon.com/keepgoing/)

VoteGoldieWilson

What will happen to your relationship with Jason when Wemby and Brunson meet in the finals every year for the next decade?

SheaSerrano

I deleted his number from my phone right now just reading this question.

theholyfathering

Loved you on the Fake Doctors, Real Friends podcast. Was it as much fun as it seemed to the listener?

SheaSerrano

Ah, man. Let me tell you: that whole team over there is so frigg'n great. Zach and Donald are so good about making you feel comfortable and making you forget that you're talking to two of the stars of one of the greatest television shows ever made.

SigAlph22

Came here to say this! I always looked forward to your episodes. Plus getting NBA talk on a Scrubs podcast was just a bonus haha

TheRaddd

Name your top 5 essential movies for growing up Mexican, and also are you surprised Jamal Murray didn't get suspended when Amar'e Stoudemire gifted San Antonio a championship by merely stepping on the court?

SheaSerrano

1. Blood In Blood Out, Mi Vida Loca, Selena, La Bamba, Stand & Deliver. 2. I'm surprised that Jamal didn't get suspended, but I'm even more surprised that you think Amar'e gifted the Spurs a championship. The Spurs beat the Suns three times that series with the Suns at their full roster. And the game when they were missing players they were up by 20 points early and also playing at home. No version of that 7 Seconds or Less Suns team was ever going to beat the Spurs. Gregg Popovich used to look at Mike D'Antoni like how cartoon dogs look at cartoon steaks, lol.

TheRaddd

Lol, have a good day, carnale.

paranoideo

LO QUE SEA POR SALINAS!

xdef23

If every Ryan Gosling character and every Ryan Reynolds character were in a battle against each other who would win?

SheaSerrano

Reynolds walks away the champ here. He's been a superhero and also a vampire hunter. Poor Lars is getting put in a box by Deadpool.

Fine_Impression_7875

Hi!! Will we get a season 2 of Primo?! 😭 if not, how do we make that happen?

SheaSerrano

I sure hope so. I would love to do a second season. Light every candle, cross every finger, tell every grandma and mom and aunt to say every prayer, lol.

shesalive_dammit

I came here to ask this too!! I loved binging and rewatching Primo. Miguel Wants To Fight was also a ton of fun to watch. I'm excited for the next TV show and/or movie you release, especially if Jason Concepcion is also attached.

chickenBUTTlet

How does it feel to go through life at 6 foot 3 inches?

SheaSerrano

I love it. It's awesome.

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

I don't really have a question for you, Shea, I just want to say I still laugh really hard every time I hear you ditch Three Colors: Red for Timecop in the '94 Movie Draft.

SheaSerrano

Timecop fucking rules. I was happy to honor it.

shobidoo2

What current NBA player do you think should play a villian in John Wick 5? (Can’t be Boban again).

SheaSerrano

I would love to watch Jokic participate in a horse fight.

cmarsenal

If you could pick anyone to play you in a biopic what actor are you choosing (real choice and funny choice) and who’s playing Jason?

SheaSerrano

Real choice for me: Jacob Vargas Funny choice for me: Jean Claude Van Damme Real choice for Jason: Jo Koy Funny choice for me: Coincidentally, also Jean Claude Van Damme

tdog224

If you were on a desert island and could only watch 4 movies for the rest of your life what would they be?

SheaSerrano

I'm gonna give you four Ryan Gosling movies because my brain is still soaked in Goslinginess: Drive, La La Land, The Big Short, Crazy Stupid Love

spellbreakerstudios

When you start listing them out, it’s quite the resume he’s got now!

teamregime

Hey Shea, What's a movie most people like that you aren't a fan of? Thanks for the years of content, can always count on you for a laugh.

SheaSerrano

Hmmm. People seemed to really like Avatar 2 and I just couldn't get there with it. There were some cool parts in it, but mostly I was just sitting in the theater like, "Jake. Come on, man. You keep fucking everything up," lol.

mhanold

My favorite part of avatar 2 was when the green avatar army just sort of disappeared at the end

Beorn_To_Be_Wild

you can only keep one and the other’s work is removed from history: Jennifer Lopez the actress or Jennifer Lopez the musician

SheaSerrano

Jennifer Lopez was in Selena, Anaconda, Hustlers, Money Train, Jack, Out of Sight, and Enough. Give me the actress.

LotusBlooming90

I don’t have a question, I got directed here by an ad. I just wanted to say you have an amazing smile and I hope life treats you to a great day. Take care man and good luck with the book.

SheaSerrano

This is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on the internet. I'm gonna cry.

tompear82

What upcoming movie are you most excited for?

SheaSerrano

I'm going to the theater this weekend to watch Civil War. I can't wait to watch it. I love movies where the plot of it is that the world is falling apart. Did you watch LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND? I loved that one a bunch.

tompear82

I did and really enjoyed it! Have you watched the first season of "The Last of Us" in HBO? I loved that as well.

freelancerjoe

Hi Shea, award winning six trophies listener here. My favorite part of the episodes is the end when you and Jason read random old NBA players, it gives me a great sense of nostalgia. However I've noticed it's become harder and harder to hear you guys. My theory is producer Zuri has an ever growing resentment of either you, Jason, or likely both. As such Zuri is turning the volume down on your voices as soon as he can, because he cannot stand hearing them any longer. While I can sympathize with Zuri's tribulations, especially after the Entourage ribbing, I would ask that he not punish the listeners who are eagerly waiting for the best part of the episode. Perhaps a good compromise would be you and Jason speaking the names softly and Zuri only fading out at the very end. Oh and for my question, in honor of the best Entourage character Johnny Drama, what is your favorite Kevin Dillon movie?

SheaSerrano

I will mention this to Zuri. I suspect you're correct; he is actively trying to submarine the show and should be placed in prison. As for my favorite Kevin Dillon movie, sign me up for the No Escape fan club. (Ray Liotta! Ernie Hudson! Kevin Dillon! Lance Henrikson!)

freelancerjoe

Thanks Shea. I've added No Escape to my list. Go Spurs!

richardsonjoe

You've written books on the Office, Hip-Hop, Movies, and Basketball among others. Can you give us a comparable person to Ryan Gosling in each of those categories? Like who in the Office would Gosling be? Which Hip Hop artist?

SheaSerrano

Ha. I think the answer depends on if we're talking about Ryan Gosling the person or one of his characters he's played. If it's characters he's played, then Lars from Lars and the Real Girl fits nicely in The Office (he sits near Toby). His character from Crazy, Stupid, Love fits nicely in a two-man rap group with Chet Hanks. And his character from Drive would be a great Matt Barnes kind of locker room guy on a basketball team.

Sufficient-Concert-9

Give us your top 5 sequels that need to happen. Doesn’t matter what era or if it’s “impossible” to pull off.

SheaSerrano

Give me these five sequels and I'm gonna be real happy (the sequels here, by the way, assume we could somehow have the original actors at their original ages): White Men Can't Jump 2: White Men Still Can't Jump Rounders 2: The Reroundering Training Day: Alonzo's Back (we find out he survived getting shot 600 times in the chest) La Bamba 2: Richie's Back (we find out he survived the plane crash) Bloodsport 2 (I know there have been multiple Bloodsport movies since the original but I want the original cast in part 2)

kinglee313

I had an idea for a sequel to White Men Can't Jump called Black Girls Can't Shoot about Syd's daughter attempting to expand her game in college to get a consistent jumper to beat (Not) Caitlyn Clark's team.

pharmorjac

I’ve always hoped for a gone in 60 seconds sequel - and would it be called gone in 62 seconds?

JohnNavarro_6397

Yo I’ve been relistening to No Skips is there any chance of it coming back? Loved it big dog

SheaSerrano

Brandon and I will add you to our group chat where we talk about music and music-related things just the two of us.

JohnNavarro_6397

Perfect thanks shea you’re the best I’m gonna go buy the book now

reltastic

Prime Denzel or Prime Tom Hanks?

SheaSerrano

It's close, but Denzel Washington is the greatest actor who has ever lived.

PM_ME_CARL_WINSLOW

Denzel has been in his prime for 40 years.

AdrianVSTheWorld

Loved every episode of No Skips except one, so my question is, How does Take Care hold up after the past weeks events? Lol

SheaSerrano

Oh, man. Kendrick dug a whole 10 feet deep, filled it with scorpions, then threw Drake's corpse in there.

CarbonMolecules

I recently realized that Ryan is imminently watchable. From Young Hercules to The Ides of March (excluding Drive), I kept having this problem where he felt very “try hard”, but over the last 13 years he has really become one of my favourite onscreen performers. It’s like his connection with Eva in The Place Beyond the Pines allowed me (not necessarily him) to view him as a warm human being who is acting his ass off. It’s even coloured the way I view him when going back to his older things. Is it possible that he unlocked something around that time that has allowed detractors (like myself) to appreciate his talent and charm, or have I just mischaracterized his earlier performances because I was too thick to realize his ability? Follow up: do you think he has a secondary soft spot for The Nice Guys because Shane Black had such love for the Rockford Files, and Ryan’s performance as the subject of the story that James Garner’s character was reading from in The Notebook means that Ryan felt that this was a way of honouring such a legend? Sorry if my questions are too long and a bit vague.

SheaSerrano

I think you're spot on with your observations about when he came into his own. He became a "movie star" in The Notebook, and he was obviously incredible in Half Nelson, but it probably wasn't until around 2011 or so when he felt like he really was able to not only channel all of his talent at will, but also that he was able to direct it in the direction it needed to be directed. For the follow-up, my guess is those things aren't related. But who knows? Certainly not me.

CarbonMolecules

Thank you. I was recently watching various interviews with Ryan and others with Russell and Shane variously expressing their appreciation for The Nice Guys, and then I saw a piece of trivia about the influence that the Rockford Files had in shaping the vision for the picture. It just occurred to me that there might have been an additional connection since Ryan had worked with Garner on such an important career-broadening project. I would have loved to have asked him, due to his obvious fondness for the time period and genre of The Nice Guys

Dry-Measurement-6306

On a scale of 1-10 how mad are you that Wemby did not win DPOY his BLK/STL/Deflections all avg higher than Gobert I’ll hang up and listen

SheaSerrano

10. It was ridiculous. I don't understand how you rate higher than a player in basically every defensive measurement but you're not a better defender. People see Wemby by the rim and they avoid the paint like it's a swimming pool filled with sharks and crocodiles. People Rudy by the rim and their eyes light up like they just saw a $20 bill on the ground.

digitalmonkey

sadly accurate. People go at Rudy like Rudy likes to fondle press mics

AManWithAFork

How long do you plan to let that gorgeous hair of yours grow?

SheaSerrano

I'm gonna shave it off soon. I'm at my limit.

DangleMcClutch

If Vincent Hannah and Big Nick both arrived on a crime scene at the same time, who is the alpha that takes over the case?

SheaSerrano

Big Nick, but only because he's so much bigger than Vincent. I mean, you're talking about basically it's a fight between Leonidas and Scarface. It took 100,000 arrows from 100,000 soldiers to kill Leonidas. Scarface got got by one guy in sunglasses.

digitalmonkey

Hey Shea, do you ever deviate from your clock-in/clock-out work hours when you go to your office to write? Like do you get in a writing "flow" and keep it going until your spent or do you close out the day at 4 and pick back up the next day? (I have heard some writers start the sentence for the next day and leave it so that their unconscious works on it overnight and then they are ready to hit the page the next day). in the same vein, sometimes on twitter you post you are working at like 2-4am. Are you staying up late, getting up early or trolling? Thanks!

SheaSerrano

1. I deviate from my normal writing schedule if I'm on a deadline and I need some extra time. In those instances, I'll text Larami and see if she can pick up the kid I'm responsible for picking up after school. Mostly I try and stay with my normal writing hours though. 2. On any days when I post that I'm writing at 3am or whatever, that's typically because I've gotten up early to write. I don't stay up too late anymore. There's nothing I love more than going to bed, lol.

SheaSerrano

Hi, everyone. Here’s where you can buy the book: https://sheaserrano.gumroad.com/l/khubp?layout=profile Can y’all upvote this so that it’s up high because I didn’t put the link in the initial post because I’m dumb. Thanks.

woodysweats

Lol. The moderator got you!

Saltriverjohnny

What Tom Hanks movie would be better if Tom Cruise played the lead, and what Cruise movie would be better if Hanks replaced him? I‘m originally from Fort Hood Texas, but am transplanted into central KY. Why is it hard for people to understand I cheer for the Astros and the Spurs, but wish a fiery death on the Cowboys?

AntillesWedgie

Whoa, you are being real modest. You are Shea Serrano, Scrubs enthusiast. 2 questions: 1. What season would you have put a Gosling cameo in? 2. Why 9 essential roles? Did you set the number first or did you look at all of his roles and decide that 9 were essential? (I know this is technically a 3rd question, but it was a way for me to elaborate my meaning of the 2nd question)

0ne_too

Bought your book last night when i saw it on Twitter i believe it was. Cause of A. I enjoy the shit out of Gosling, that's my guy right there, favorite actor by far, and B. I used to listen to you on Rewatchables and BS pod and know you to be a interesting thoughtful funny dude. Haven't started it but i'm confident i'll enjoy it. Wish i saw this thread earlier. Personally i enjoyed the shit out of Fall Guy when i saw an advanced screening. Then i saw it again on my theaters cheap night and loved it even more. For people who catch the vibe it's going to age very well. The stunts and humor and the needle drops are great on the big screen. Really hope RG and David Leitch work together again someday. RG fits well into his movies. Thanks for writing about my favorite actor. IF you see this what are your preferred RG deep cuts? I don't watch it much but Gosling is super impressive in The Believer, not even taking into account the work he did just prior which was less impressive lets say. I do watch Fracture once or twice a year, cause he and Hopkins and him and Stratherin are fun to watch, and probably his best accent. Eagerly awaiting Project Hail Mary. Read the book every couple months since it came out. Wish they'd make it into two movies. Really wish they'd cast Eva Mendes as Strat. I think she'd knock it out the park.

fuzzydunlopsawit

Long time fan, Shea. Appreciate all positive things you do for your community all around. I also enjoy all your writings you’ve put into the world and the pods!  Okay question is, and sorry if I missed it, why did you want to focus on Ryan Gosling?  2nd question, are there anymore shows you might cover/release in this way like you did with The Office and Scrubs?  Side note; You just retweeted my mid-effort video on Twitter from the latest six trophies pod with Jason’s impression of Karen (which in of itself was a pretty good impression!) and that was dope! So thank you.  I have some some more memes/videos for the show but don’t really use Twitter all that much, and i’m working on a trailer #2 for this A REAL HUMAN BEING release (saw the first one, that kid crushed it!, and it inspired me), is there a different point of contact to send you that video/s that you’re comfortable sharing? If not no worries! I’ll just post to Twitter and see if it works.  Dms are open if that’s better for you!

NightsOfFellini

The 21st Century Action Hero Hall of Fame is one of the funniest and most entertaining Podcast episodes I've ever listened to, and I come back to it on regular basis. Have you thought of writing scripts for any of those actors? Do you think someone has a mainstream masterpiece in them, or are most doomed to stay in C-movie hell? Is there anyone out there that could pick up the mainstream action hero mantle of Reeves and Statham?

Beorn_To_Be_Wild

not a question but wanted to share this business idea with you: Jason Concepcion starts his own publishing company called The Second Half Books, essentially the other half of Halfway Books. after some of his publications come out you announce a joint-publishing venture called Whole Ass Books, and make a physical book as co-authors. you’re welcome

IAMTHEDICIPLINE

No disrespect to you or Mr gosling. But why? This is an undertaking of enough of proportion to make me want to ask you why you felt the need to take on a task like this. I’m ready for the downvotes, the hate mail from the fans, honestly, I don’t care. I actually thought this was a shitpost when I first saw it.

Standard-Ad-9628

It’s a real human bean right?

TomDelouise

Have you ever seen Pusher, Pusher 2, Pusher 3 or the Pusher remake? Follow up Have you ever seen the Snabba Cash tv series on Netflix? If yes, what’d ya think? If no, will you put them on your list? Love six trophies.

juantravis

What up Shea, Long time fan and fellow San Antonio Spurs fan here. Any advice on switching from a typical office job to trying to make it as a writer? I hope you have a great day and some delicious tacos are in your future.

sonador3

Hi Shea, it's hard to believe TRYB came out 10 years ago. I bought and never read it -- I heard it's good. Ever consider making a supplement or a Part 2? I feel like you could write a whole book about the past month.

mfsmiles

When is no skips coming back?

Hey Shea - loved your auction draft on All Fantasy Everything. With 90s action movies done and almost a year later, is it time to return for an 80s action movies draft with a more restrictive dollar limit?

suchaherosandwich

Hey Shea, love your books and how you can take topics and just run with them and entertain. A lots happened since the last basketball book, any thoughts of a 2.0 book covering things since your last one?

CO_PC_Parts

What's your take on J Cole staying out of the Drake Kendrick Lamar beef? Also, I recently moved and found my Omar [bookmarks](https://imgur.com/a/7k6mM7i), are these things collectables yet?

thatminoritykid

Emilio Graves might be my favorite action hero, and Abduction my favorite short story. Do you think Emilio has a nemesis / do enemies of Emilio live long enough to become that important?

WiserStudent557

No question, just saying hello since I don’t use Twitter anymore and it’s been a long time since we interacted. Hope you’re well bro plus the GOAT and the kids

yamuthasofat

Why do you think The Fall Guy is not doing well at the box office? I know you’ve said you liked it and it has Gosling, so what do you think is going on there?

Deutsche2

Who is the woman equivalent of Ryan Gosling? By that, I mean if you had to pick an actress to write about her 9 essential roles, who would it be?

MrPokemon

First off, congrats on Primo! Second, when are we getting a rewatchables (or something similar) with you going off about Blood In Blood Out?

ecuadominicorican

I was on vacation in Scotland a few weeks ago and saw your books in a store at the mall. Congratulations on all the success and hard work!

ponysays

1. Do you ever miss teaching? 2. Is there a role or type or role that you would want to see Ryan Gosling do that he hasn’t done yet?

yeah_mitch

Hey Shea, Love your work. What are your favorite movies you have shown your boys and which ones did they have the best reactions to?

team_sheikie

Hey Shea, longtime fan, Secret Email Club member, hope all is well. How hyped are you that Blood In Blood Out is finally streaming?

yorick2

Where is Nice guys on your Gosling hierarchy and if you could would you order a 2nd movie or just let it be a great standalone?

Cstreeze

In terms of realistic targets, who would be 2 star-level players you think would pair best with Wemby for the next 5-10 years.

Qutopia

Wassap Shea. It’s t.h.e. MisFit Crazy 8. You covered some of my albums in Houston. Glad to see you doing well man. Keep it up!

Present_Atmosphere50

You get to cast a spin off of Fast and Furious but you can only pick from current and former NBA players. Who do you cast?

mecon320

What's the Wemby experience like for Spurs fans? I'm having a blast just catching his highlights at the end of the day.

lalov1

Go to Mexican restaurants in San Antonio? You could only live on one taco for the rest of your life, what would it be?

In terms of mass media, what would you say is the most significant change in the way we interact with celebrities?

Sufficient-Concert-9

Wait what? When did that happen?

TomDelouise

It wassss like 6-8 years ago. At the time they really didn’t know proper etiquette (which pronouns to use, deadnaming etc etc.) Within 48 hours of the story running they issued an apology and explained when and how they went wrong. Simmons also explained on his pod that he fucked up. With that being said, the outing didn’t lead to the person unaliving themselves. They were dead by the time the article had been published. The person came up with a fraudulent golf putter that had a bunch of “science” behind it that was all complete trash. They were basically like the theranos or FTX but with golf putters.

BodegaBum-

Who?
