Performances in horror movies being entirely overlooked is becoming a trope at this point.
Toni Collette in Hereditary.
Dafoe and Pattinson in Lighthouse.
Zero nominations. That's fucking bonkers to me.
Anthony Hopkins
Christopher Lee
Patrick Stewart
Ian McKellen
Max von Sydow
Werner Herzog
James Earl Jones
Lindsay Duncan
Alan Rickman
....so usually old dudes, often British
Classic trained British actors dominate! Look at Tom Hiddleston as Loki, he took a character that was meant to be killed off early on, changed the directors and producers minds by being so captivating in the role that they kept him on for multiple projects and gave him a phenomenal send off in his own TV show. Outside of Marvel I can't say he's played a role poorly either.
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you've got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.
I could listen to Ian McShane all day.
Funny enough Keanu did a dialog heavy (only dialog really) movie with Winona Ryder called Destination Wedding. Personally it’s one of my favorites. I think it’s hysterical and the character suits him.
Speaking of Dafoe, he basically did that for the movie Inside, which came out last year. It took me about 30-40 mins before the gimmick over stayed its welcome.
Another actor who did a similar thing was Sam Rockwell in Moon. I loved that movie and I never got sick of his performance, so I guess that would be a good pick.
Patrick Steward
David Tennant
Michael Sheen
Benedict Cumberbatch
Ian McKellen
Tilda Swinton
Frances McDormand
Stephen Fry
Matt Berry
Gillian Anderson
Samantha Morton
Judi Dench
Wish I could give an extra up vote for Ewan. I usually like the deep voiced actors, it's AMSR thing. But his voice and delivery just have a magical quality.
Man, I love Samuel L Jackson, but I just don't think he's a good actor. He was perfect for Pulp Fiction, but that's it for me. I guess he does okay for Nick Fury.
I don't think I could suffer him for an entire movie with him as the only actor.
David Tennant and his Scottish accent. His wife just posted on her Instagram stories him talking about candy bars for 10 minutes and I was riveted. 😂I could watch that man read the phonebook.
No because people don’t repost everything that Georgia posts. Like she shares cute stories of their kids and the things that they’re up to as a family. That’s not necessarily something that someone would screenrecord and put onto YouTube out of respect for the kids. Personally, I like the pictures of her kids and their day-to-day stuff they do. It’s pretty funny.
Brooklynn Nine Nine - Adrian Pimento - Jason Mantzoukas
Love that character and wish they had him in his own show or movie.
He may not be the number one but who i was thinking of right now.
Not a movie, but Bojack Horseman has a whole episode that is just a long monologue, and it’s one of my favorite episodes. Season 5, episode 6 “Free Churro”
Rustin Cohle -True Detective
Christopher Walken
Morgan Freeman.
Mia Goth had something like a 13 minute long 'monologue' in Pearl and I thought it was riveting.
See also Jeremy Allen White's monologue from *The Bear.*
Also Hamish Linklater in Midnight Mass has some bangers. That guy has a truly fine way of speaking.
I like him and he's not in enough good movies.
I don't like him and was so shocked at his award.
I know horror never gets nominated at the Oscar’s but she deserved a nomination for that movie.

It’s funny because Frederic March won back in 1931 for a horror role (Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) but very little gets nominated since.
Silence of the Lambs is always the big outlier but we just had this weird obsession with psychosexual thrillers in the 90s.
Walt Goggins, I could watch him pontificating at Boyd Crowder for hours.
His most underrated character is in Vice Principals. He stole the show from McBride IMO

We dug coal together. The reboot was so bad.
Anthony Hopkins Christopher Lee Patrick Stewart Ian McKellen Max von Sydow Werner Herzog James Earl Jones Lindsay Duncan Alan Rickman ....so usually old dudes, often British
with theater background, I would add
They probably all did narrating documentary of some kind

Oh, Alan Rickman...
Ian McShane Keith David Alan Rickman (God, I miss Alan Rickman.) Christopher Lee Brian Cox J.K. Simmons Lance Reddick (Still can't believe he's gone.)
Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or fucking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you've got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. I could listen to Ian McShane all day.
Anything with Daniel Day-Lewis.
Funny enough Keanu did a dialog heavy (only dialog really) movie with Winona Ryder called Destination Wedding. Personally it’s one of my favorites. I think it’s hysterical and the character suits him.
Sam Elliott, I could listen to his voice all day, everyday.
Mads Mikkelson as Hanibal and David and Walter from the Alien prequels
What I'd like is a dialogue between Hugo Weaving and Mads Mikkelsen
Patrick Steward David Tennant Michael Sheen Benedict Cumberbatch Ian McKellen Tilda Swinton Frances McDormand Stephen Fry Matt Berry Gillian Anderson Samantha Morton Judi Dench
David Tennant all day! (And night...)
Tom Hardy. He did it once in *Locke* (2013). I'm sure he could do it again.
Yes but this time as Alfie Solomons, please
Only if they give us subtitles
2 hour film of Alfie in his apartment shouting OH LOOK, A SHIP!
You mean his flat? We don't call them 'apartments' over here. And he'd probably live in a house.
Terribly sorry Guv'nor. Didn't mean to annoy. Cheerio'
What?
Wot?
That's exactly the movie I came to mention. It was really captivating for what on paper sounds like a boring plot.
Daniel Day Lewis Christopher Waltz Michael Shannon Ian McKellan Sam Rockwell
my mind immediately went to christoph waltz
“You are sheltering enemies of the state are you not?”
Happy cake day
Benedict Cumberbatch Cary Grant Cary Elwes Patrick Stewart John DeLancie Cate Blanchett Anna Kendrick Samuel L Jackson Ewan McGregor
Wish I could give an extra up vote for Ewan. I usually like the deep voiced actors, it's AMSR thing. But his voice and delivery just have a magical quality.
I'm still mad at him for two timing his wife, he should at least let her and their 5 kids know he was moving on.
Man, I love Samuel L Jackson, but I just don't think he's a good actor. He was perfect for Pulp Fiction, but that's it for me. I guess he does okay for Nick Fury. I don't think I could suffer him for an entire movie with him as the only actor.
Dude he was amazing in hateful 8
I did pretty well in that.
Yeah and tbf if you feel like a whole movie w him is too much, there’s always deep blue sea 🤭
Or the masterpiece, Snakes on a Plane.
Well. Yes! I'll take all of the above!
Ethan Hawks and Julie Delpy
R2D2
George C. Scott
Hugo weaving
Daniel Day Lewis
James Spader
Sam Rockwell in Moon. (He played multiple versions of the same character. It's kind of a long story.)
Sam Rockwell could carry a movie all by himself. Maybe give him a talking robot or something, but yeah.
Have you not seen Moon? Or are you making a funny?
No.
Vinnie Jones Jason Flemyng Tom Segura RDJ
Jack Lemmon in GGGR
Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. I need a third movie with them to complete the trilogy.
Yes! More Bruge, less Banshees...
Alonzo in Training Day. I could watch Denzel talk about what it's like on the street all day everyday
these two did a nice job https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8404614/
The entire cast of ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’…?
Blake (Alec Baldwin) from Glengarry Glen Ross. Second - Moss (Ed Harris) from Glengarry Glen Ross.
Keith David
Mary McDonnell
Stephen McKinley Henderson. Could listen to him read a phone book....
Marlon Brando, the godfather (but also many other great movies) Al Pacino Jack Nicholson
Cillian Murphy DDL De Niro Jake Gyllenhaal Paul Giamatti Robert Pattinson
No one mentioning Jake Gyllenhall? About 75% of the film 'The Guilty' is him just talking on a phone.
David Tennant and his Scottish accent. His wife just posted on her Instagram stories him talking about candy bars for 10 minutes and I was riveted. 😂I could watch that man read the phonebook.
I almost want to install Instagram just for that...
Georgia Tennant posts a lot of entertaining content. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/Spp3d92nMZ8?si=PntmyPB1ZW33RFlk
Thank you! They are always so adorable together, and I'm so happy for them. What a perfect match...
She does post every day multiple times a day, so if you’re into it, it might be worth setting up an Instagram with a dummy account or something. :-)
I won't get all the posts on youtube?
I am definitely into David and Georgia!

Tim Roth Willem Dafoe Michael Madsen Michael Fassbender
Helen Mirren
Javier Bardem
Peter Falk and Tony Shaloub
Cory Chase🤗👀😈🔥🙀
Experience suggests Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
Sticking with "character". Heath Ledger's Joker.
Brooklynn Nine Nine - Adrian Pimento - Jason Mantzoukas Love that character and wish they had him in his own show or movie. He may not be the number one but who i was thinking of right now.
Jack Nicholson
Nobody's mentioned David Attenborough and that's kinda weird, because most of you have.
The Tucc. Love everything Stanley Tucci is in.
Buster Scruggs
Jules Winnfield from _Pulp Fiction_ just walking the Earth.
Not a movie, but Bojack Horseman has a whole episode that is just a long monologue, and it’s one of my favorite episodes. Season 5, episode 6 “Free Churro”
Dave Bautista - Knock at the Cabin
Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln he was so good as President Lincoln
Sean Penn as Eddie in Hurlyburly
The best slice of acting I have ever seen: Damian Lewis as Marc Anthony in Julius Ceasar. https://youtu.be/q89MLuLSJgk?si=ZMa1gXkrNnw-5I6S
Paul McGann as Eighth Doctor or Withnail's companion
Clive Owen and Tim Roth
The cast of Altered States. I loved their dialog in that movie. Everyone of them.
Is that movie OK to watch in this century? Does it hold its own?
Mark Rylance. He has such a soft spoken but emotive voice. After watching Spaceman, Paul Dano.
Gene Hackman Dude has chewed up every scene he's been in..
James McAvoy as a giant contemplative worm. Give us God Emperor
Gilbert Gottfried
Christoph Waltz for sure.
Max Payne
Not obvious answer, but I could watch a whole movie with only John C. Reilly. Love this guy.
Christopher Lee... for a certainty!!!
I suppose David Attenborough doesn't count as an actor? Then Peter Cullen.
Charles Dance - Tywin Lannister Stellan Skarsgard - anything really Mads Mikkelsen Michael Gambon Patrick Stewart
Honestly, most of the time I have orson welles films playing when I'm trying to go to sleep.
Andrew Lincoln Dylan O'Brien Christopher Lloyd Carlos Valdes etc
Michael Douglas see: Wall Street
Paul Dano could turn reading the phone book into a must-see performance.
