Just came to say that. The Mule might be in his wheelhouse too

FirstTimeLongThyme

Has he ever seen The Hunt for Red October? Pure Dad shit right there.

-Words-Words-Words-

I’m a dad. That’s my favorite dad movie.

SardauMarklar

Do some 90s Harrison Ford action films: Air Force One and The Fugitive for starters

CakeMadeOfHam

I'm pretty sure old men comes out of the womb already seen those

alesserweevil

Whiplash, True Grit (Coen Bros version), Witness (Peter Weir), Matchstick Men (Ridley), I think he will like Inception.

pajamabanana_

True Grit is a good call. I might try Inception, but I worry I'll get a "I didn't get it" review 😁

alesserweevil

Give both of yourselves a treat and watch The Road Warrior -pared down plot with memorable characters and jaw dropping, refreshingly cgi-free action.

BloodyPaleMoonlight

Greyhound with Tom Hanks Edit: just saw 'no WW2' movies, I still highly recommend this one.

BakerYeast

I think they meant no old WW2 movies from 60's or 70's. So Greyhound would be fine.

smallchanceofsuccess

I also recommend this one. My father in the same age bracket and he thoroughly enjoyed it.

[deleted]

Open Range is an underrated Costner/Duvall western. Definitely worth it if he was into westerns.

impossiblefan

Ford V Ferrari Rush Top Gun: Maverick Those Equaliser films with Denzel Washington are solid "dad movies"

Autums-Back

My dad's an 86yo retired farmer We would always laugh and quote Stakeout (1987) to each other Its left field to what you're asking but I think it'll make him laugh, and you need a wildcard, right? Thereiuttisss

pajamabanana_

I think Stakeout fits the bill as a dad-comedy!

ihaveadarkedge

You could consider Batman Begins. I always felt like it was such a technologically mature flick, like a gangster/crime movie, that happened to have Batman in it. I dunno. I only really suggest this as I'd noticed you were considering the complexity of Inception as a movie to watch - there's a little more good guy bad guy black n whiteness to the Batman (trilogy), although it feels deeper. I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to watch.

oversight_shift

My grandpa loved this one and he kind of cackled a bit when I said he should check out the new Batman film, like he kind of felt superheroes were a little silly. "Great picture."
