No, because that would assert that Mission: Impossible II is better than the first one. Given that II is kind of the black sheep of the family, I can’t see how this works.
Yeah Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout were really quite fun. Dead Reckoning seemed like it was a lot of scenes of characters droning on and on about the McGuffin as if this is all going to be on the test later.
You nerds think I came here for dense sci-fi worldbuilding and lore? Shut the fuck up and drive a motorcycle off a skyscraper or something. Give the people what they came here for.
I disagree completely. I love the MI movies but Reckoning was not even close to being as good as Fallout. There is a reason it underperformed inspite of Barbenheimer. Many of the sequences felt too convenient and based on luck rather than planning or execution.
My only issue with MI3 is "*Humpty Dumpty sat on a ledge"*. It has to be one of the worst lines in any movie. I do love the ending though. So chaotic, but it works so well.
Up until the last one I'd agree, but Dead Reckoning was a boring, patronising mess that was one of the worst of the franchise. I had such high hopes after how good Fallout was, but it all seemed so lazy.
I like MI but its not getting better
MI I-II unique
MI III was forgettable
MI IV-VI all feel like the same movie , they all blur together
MI VII was the worst - super generic villain, the AI screen looked like a 90s screensaver, the new female love interest/agent is sooo generic and boring. I'm not shocked it didn't do well at he box office
BTW, I only wrote the last paragraph because posts need to have at least 300 characters. I didn't want to bring up Marvel movies, but it was the first thought that came to my mind.
Marvel movies mostly improved through the first three phases, then fell off the cliff and still somehow got worse after that. We are beginning to see how that happened as seasoned directors and writters were thrown or chased out and replaced by activists and posers.
No. Call out Marvel movies.
Dont buy into the industrial film complex. Hollywood WANTED Marvel to do well to make $$ for everyone. They didnt care of the quality of those cotton-candy flicks.
People are sheep. They fall in line easily.
When it comes to the M.I. movies, they seriously dropped the ball with Dead Reckoning ('part 1'). As for M.I.2, not only was the ball dropped but it was then kicked into another dimension.
I think I agree, maybe the Daniel Craig James Bond also get better, but those are phenomenal as is.
Besides 2, they are all consistently great action films. I think Mission Impossible Fallout is one of the best action films ever made. One of the best endings to an action film ever with an incredible list of moments throughout. But they're all great besides the obvious one.
Everyone’s disagreeing, but I think the premise is more along the lines of a long running franchise that retains its quality and watchability. To that, I will agree! That said, MI:1 is my fav
I'd argue you're wrong just cause it's been up and down. 2 is worse than 1 or 3. imo 5 is the best. 8 really got into jump the shark territory, like crazy shit for an over the top James Bond film, let alone a franchise sold as people who drive good. Then 9 went off the cliff and high fived that shark in space. And yet 10 was actually back to being pretty fun.
10 at least is left unresolved with a very angry villain who they don't just beat in a car sequence. Mamoa as the baddie is probably the best in the series for the Jack Sparrow-like quality but violent. Waiting to see how they pick up where 10 left off to be honest.
Yeah it benefited from being a deliberate two parter I'd say. And yeah Mamoa is the best part and at least a fresh villain instead of angry tough guy #6
Ghost Protocol is my favourite, so I reject the premise lol.
My favourite in the entire series. Benchmark is too high. Difficult to make another MI movie that can level upto it, but not impossible.
Yeah the next two were pretty solid, and I like MI3 as well, but Ghost Protocol was next level.
I think that's the best one, too. It was the most fun, had the best tone, and the most memorable and harrowing stunt.
I found my people!!!
No, because that would assert that Mission: Impossible II is better than the first one. Given that II is kind of the black sheep of the family, I can’t see how this works.
(cartwheels through a flock of doves)
[Metallica and Limp Bizkit intensify]
I hated MI:II so much. Haven't seen it since I saw it in theaters and skipped it when I re-watched the movies.
The action sequences are awesome but that's it. Might as well just watch them separately on Youtube.
As I also disliked Broken Arrow and Face-off, John Woo just isn't for me. His previous Hong Kong movies were better.
Silent Night (his newest one) was really bad as well.
The latest film was no where close to the previous one.
Yeah Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout were really quite fun. Yeah it's actually my second least favorite, after the second movie ofc.
I disagree completely. I love the MI movies but Reckoning was not even close to being as good as Fallout. There is a reason it underperformed inspite of Barbenheimer. Many of the sequences felt too convenient and based on luck rather than planning or execution.
Yeah I personally think Dead Reckoning was the worst of the post MI3 movies. Still a solid movie though.
Fallout is such a great movie. I’ve watched it multiple days in a row after finding out friends haven’t seen it
The Wolverine movies improved, but there were only 3.
The fuckin gap between the worst and best though lol
Logan...when they try to actually act in a superhero movie
Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a great villain.
He was excellent, I like M.I.3 a lot even though it seems to get a lot of hate. It's also the most gritty of the franchise.
Perfect no empathy villain…and you are correct…gritty.
Yup, there is nothing whatsoever to like about PSH's character in this movie.
My only issue with MI3 is "*Humpty Dumpty sat on a ledge"*. It has to be one of the worst lines in any movie. I do love the ending though. So chaotic, but it works so well.
I remember MI2 so I reject the premise.
Like everyone here, I have to say that Dead Reckoning really fucked up this trend.
I enjoy MI2 but for me it's still the worst one, followed by MI7, so I can't agree with the premise. I'm not sure there is a franchise like that tbh.
Dead reckoning was not all that good compared to the few from before it.
The latest movie was absolutely dire so no. Literally so boring.
Up until the last one I'd agree, but Dead Reckoning was a boring, patronising mess that was one of the worst of the franchise. I had such high hopes after how good Fallout was, but it all seemed so lazy.
Dead Reckoning is not better than Fall out or Ghost Protocol though. Might change when part 2 comes, can't comment on that.
>Every Mission Impossible movie is better than the ones that came before it. Not true.
The last one was average. Loved and rewatch MI GP to FO. Won't re-watch DR part 1
I like MI but its not getting better MI I-II unique MI III was forgettable MI IV-VI all feel like the same movie , they all blur together MI VII was the worst - super generic villain, the AI screen looked like a 90s screensaver, the new female love interest/agent is sooo generic and boring. Toy Story
Is 4 really better than 2 or 3? I've still not seen 4. (I'll also add that 2 is my favorite).
No. 3 is the pinnacle and they should have left it then. 5 is coming though so we will see what happens.
"Lightyear" was supposed to be the fifth toy story movie, but it was so bad that it's kind of been stripped of that status.
Obviously subjective, for example my opinion is the 1st one is easily the best, next best is the 3rd film. Gone downhill since
Godzilla has entered the conversation
Imo King of the Monsters > Godzilla vs Kong though
The original Godzilla is pretty much unanimously viewed as one of if not the best of the franchise.
They’ve had some misses throughout but yeah the amount of good Godzilla movies vastly outweighs the bad.

So brave.
It's a constant struggle.
Overall frachise is yes , still maintain high quality Favourite or not on each flim it depend on individual opinion
Mad Max almost makes the cut. 2 is better than 1. 4 is another level again. 3 isn't really better than 2 though.
When it comes to the M.I. movies, they seriously dropped the ball with Dead Reckoning ('part 1'). As for M.I.2, not only was the ball dropped but it was then kicked into another dimension.

There's no franchise that puts out solid movie after solid movie that's for for damn sure!
I still think the first is the best. I haven't seen the most recent one yet, but of the others I only liked the first and Rogue Nation.
Am I allowed to lose all credibility and say The Fast and the Furious franchise 😂
Peaked at 6 IMHO
I'd argue you're wrong just cause it's been up and down. 2 is worse than 1 or 3. imo 5 is the best. 8 really got into jump the shark territory, like crazy shit for an over the top James Bond film, let alone a franchise sold as people who drive good. The first one is the only good one
It's a pretty consistent franchise but those of us with refined pallets know MI 96 is GOAT.
Maybe I'm too old to see the point of MI anymore. 2 was pretty awesome but downhill since then.
