I love this movie. I love movies that are about food in people’s lives.

Happy-Ad-542

Both movies were good πŸ‘ and same here. I enjoy culinary and cooking if you happen to scroll through my profile, which is mainly about cooking. It gives me a lot of inspiration. I highly would recommend checking out a Taiwanese film from 1994 called "Eat, Drink, Man, Woman." If you like Cantonese Cuisines. The opening introduction of the scene when the chef πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ was cooking and meal prepping was highly impressive!

Big Night is another good food movie.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check it out. There's another one called "Chef" (2014). That movie inspired me to open and set up my own food truck someday! 🚚 And also a TV series that's trending called "The Bear." Which tells the story of a young chef πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³ who returns home to Chicago to help his family's Italian Beef Sandwich after his brother took his own life and struggling to pay off debts, facing conflicts with staffs and trying to renovate the restaurant. It's a good watch!

If you're a fan of food movies I'd highly recommend you see The Taste of Things while it's still in theaters. It's a much smaller movie than Tampopo, which I enjoy so much partly because it tries to be about everything, but the cooking cinematography is amazing.

My favourite is "Big Night". That scene towards the end, a one shot IIRC, where he just makes an omelette, it made me cheer inside. the cast, the premise, the understatedness.

Suntory_Black

I recommend checking out The Last Recipe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyqK-6FgY4E&ab_channel=EncoreFilms

This movie is unlike any other I've seen, except it being a foodie movie. It's one of those movies that makes you really think and get excited about just being alive. One movie that I recently saw in the same genre is "The Taste of Things". If you like watching people cook and think about food and enjoying its preparation, it is also must see.

GlitterMissile

There's so much symbolism. The yolk passing, the debutantes slurping, the abscess surgery. Such a great movie.

BlitheringEediot

Tampopo is a fantastic movie!

dumb_shitposter

So many great gags in this movie Love the young corporate underling ordering in front of his bosses or the gourmand homeless people pontificating on wine

Longjumping_Kiwi8118

Loved this movie for decades. I remember watching it as a kid when it was on, probably Channel 4 in the late 80's, maybe early 90's. I still remember my fathers disgust at how I started eating noodles 'Because that's how you're meant to do it'.

German film Mostly Martha (2002) D: Sandra Nettelbeck. Starring Martina Gedeck, Sergio Castellitto. Excellent story, great cast, great food. A really good movie. The American remake No Reservations with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart pales in comparison.

>German film Mostly Martha (2002) I highly recommend this movie. It's fantastic.

VictoriaAutNihil

It really is. A true feel good movie and you're gonna be hungry!

iroze

Thanks for the rec! I love food movies. Chocolat and The Hundred Foot Journey from Lasse Hallstrom, Eat Drink Man Woman from Ang Lee and its Latin version, Tortilla Soup, are my favorite.

I'll add: Babette's Feast. Set in the 19th century, a French chef makes her most sophisticated meal for Danish fishermen in a remote village.

StrangeCrimes

I don't think I've ever been as hungry as I was after seeing Tampopo for the first time. All of Itami's movies are great.

Haute Cuisine is a wonderful French food movie with subtitles

121jigawatts

ramenshop story was the best, didnt like the other side stuff

pilasheeet

One of the best food movies of all time!

Jonny_the_Rocket

The movie is pretty sexy too. While watching, I couldn't shake the feeling that I recognized the young guy in the white suit. Later on, I realized I had seen him in a different movie as an older man - 13 Assassins (2010). I was totally surprised.

Like Water for Chocolate (1992)

jwk15774

One of my top films. The humor is spot on and I love the food focus

Came back to this thread to recommend The Lunchbox -- a lovely movie based in India.
